Zhengzhou has made a new rule that primary and middle school students cannot use mobile phones at school.
According to(根据) the rule, nobody can bring phones into classrooms unless(除非) for “teaching purposes”. That means students are not allowed to bring phones to school. If they really need to, their parents must write a letter to the school, and the school will keep the phone during school hours.
This rule is for all primary and middle schools in Zhengzhou. And schools must also offer public(公共的) phones at school so that students can call their parents if they need to. And parents should help control(控制) their children’s phone use at home. This can stop them from spending too much time on phones and the Internet.
A spokesperson said this rule was to make sure the government, schools and parents all helped students use phones less. It also helped students learn to protect and control themselves better.
This follows a similar rule in Guangzhou. It also controls how students use phones at school, but it lets schools decide more details(细节), because different schools have different situations.
These rules came out after the Chinese Ministry of Education(教育部) said phones should not be used at school. It could help students pay attention to their studies, protect their eyesight and stay healthy.

Miss Miller was trying to tell students how to solve a difficult maths problem when Jack slowly put up his hand. She thought Jack wanted to share with the whole class a good way to solve the problem. However, he just wanted to go to the restroom(洗手间). It was just 5 minutes after the bell rang.
Some schools in the UK took action like locking the restroom to stop students going to the restroom in class. Anita Ellis, a head teacher, told BBC that going to the restroom in class can influence the study of others.
This may sound very common in your school life. Is it just an excuse to leave class or is it necessary? We don’t know. But it does worry a lot of teachers. Should students go to the restroom in class? Different people have different ideas and they give their reasons.
Should students go to the restroom in class?

No!
1. If students are told not to go, they may have a fight with teachers.
