Traditional Chinese painting is done with a brush dipped (浸) in black and colored ink. Paper and silk are also needed for painting. The finished work can be put on scrolls (卷轴).
Chinese folk music is another important part of Chinese culture. It has a long history. Shi Jing, one of the Confucian classics (儒家经典), contains many folk songs. They have been much loved by people up to now.
Traditional Chinese musical instruments are symbols of Chinese culture, such as guqin, guzheng, pipa, erhu, xiao and chimes (编钟). Sheng and suona are also popular in many villages in China. We are students in Year 9 at City High School. In our English class, we’re doing a project on the local community. We’re being asked to come up with ideas to improve our neighborhood.
It’s a lively neighborhood with some parks and green spaces. It has got shops, cafes and other places where you can buy food. However, this can cause a problem. There is a lot of litter in the streets. We’d like to hand out some leaflets to ask people to take their litter home instead of throwing it on the ground. At the same time, we’d like to do a litter collection and collect plastic bottles for recycling.
Another idea we’ve had is to paint the benches (长椅) in the children’s area in the park next to our school. The benches are old. We think it would be better if people had some nice, colorful benches to sit on.
Several of us catch the local train to school. We’ve noticed that the stations aren’t very attractive (有吸引力的). We’d like to grow plants to make people feel happier when they’re waiting at the station. If we did that, we would, take turns to look after the plants and water them.
Finally, we know that a new road system for the center of town is considered at the moment. Are cycle ways and footpaths included in the plans? We hope so, because we want to encourage students to walk to or ride to school instead of coming in a car.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Year 9 students

Traditional Chinese painting is done with a brush dipped (浸) in black and colored ink. Paper and silk are also needed for painting. The finished work can be put on scrolls (卷轴).

(23-24九年级上·安徽省合肥市42中·期末)
Dear Sir/Madam,
We are students in Year 9 at City High School.
