长难句增多:如2025年常州中考记叙文《钓鱼的故事》中“The next day, Dunn took the boy to a lake and taught him how to cast a line, and after a few hours, the boy caught his first fish, which made him smile for the first time in weeks.”(包含定语从句、并列句),需拆分“主干”(Dunn took the boy to a lake and taught him how to cast a line)和“修饰成分”(after a few hours, the boy caught his first fish, which made him smile for the first time in weeks)。
成长励志类:积累“resilience”(韧性)、“overcome difficulties”(克服困难)、“self-confidence”(自信)等词汇;
传统文化类:积累“Chinese tea ceremony”(中国茶道)、“Shaanxi fast board”(陕西快板)、“Changzhou comb”(常州梳篦)等词汇;
The next day, Dunn took the boy to a lake and taught him how to cast a line, and after a few hours, the boy caught his first fish, which made him smile for the first time in weeks.”
(Dunn took the boy to a lake and taught him how to cast a line);修饰成分(after a few hours, the boy caught his first fish, which made him smile for the first time in weeks)。
做2023-2025年常州中考真题(如2025年《钓鱼的故事》、2024年《8岁女孩的善举》),分析“题型分布”“主题范畴”“难度趋势”;

Deaf dancers’ 10-minute performance at the opening of the 2025 China Contemporary Dance Biennial (中国当代舞蹈双年展) on Aug 27 showed their four years of practice paid off. The audience (观众), including leaders from 14 countries, were deeply touched by the dancers, who performed without a hearing conductor (指挥).
But what the experts didn’t know is that it took Walawala Deaf People’s Dance Group four years to create the short piece. The greatest difficulty is that deaf dancers can’t follow the beat of the music. “We tried many different ways,” Yu Qinxin, the director of Walawala, said. “Of course, a hearing conductor standing in front of the dancers is the most convenient way to achieve that, but I hope to help my dancers to ‘know the beat inside their heart’.”
“It’s hard, and it takes lots of practice. There are hardly any dance troupes (表演团) of deaf people that can perform without a hearing conductor. I hope we can win a place for ourselves in the world,” she added.
In 2020, Yu and her students decided to form a dance troupe of their own. “Walawala” is an expression in Shanghai dialect (方言) that describes the noise of many people talking at the same time. “Like other young people, they want to express themselves and talk with each other by dancing,” she said, explaining the name of the group.
Since then, they have been meeting every week and dancing together. “We have been dancing together for almost 10 years,” Wu Shenfeng, the captain of Walawala, said, “I hope we could go on dancing as a group till we are old.”
But for 33-year-old Pan Liuzhen, dancing was not the most important reason. “I come to dancing practice because they are here,” he said, pointing at his old schoolmates sitting on the dance floor.
“We hope to give more public performances and be seen by more people.” said Yu.

A.To have more time to communicate.
B.To become the best troupe of deaf dancers.
C.To win a place for themselves in the world.
D.To be famous and seen by more people.
3.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.The deaf dancers from 14 countries played well.
B.A hearing conductor can help the deaf dancers a lot.
C.The group was named Walawala to express their kindness.
D.Wu Shenfeng has been a dancer for thirty-three years.
4.Which word best describes the deaf dancers in Walawala?
A.Warmhearted. B.Humorous. C.Serious. D.Hard-working.

It was difficult not to see the 8-year-old boy run in and out of his house repeatedly. His repeated actions caused the curiosity of his neighbor, William Dunn.
“He said he didn’t have a father,” says Dunn, now aged 58.” And I realized that there might be something I could do to help him.”
That “something” was fishing, a hobby that Dunn’s father had once shared with him. He did it at once. After fishing together several times, Dunn saw encouraging changes in the boy’s behavior.
That was 16 years ago. Since then, Dunn has taken groups of fatherless kids fishing almost every weekend, teaching them how to set up a fishing line and bring in a big catch.
“They’ve been through a lot, and their lives have been challenging,” Dunn explains. “But when they’re fishing, all those pains disappear. On the boat, they laugh, smile, and make new friends. I knew I was onto something special.”
Jayden, now 23, has become a fisherman and thanks Dunn for helping him grow up. He proudly mentions catching a shark with Dunn’s help, “I hope he knows that I mean it when I say thank you.”
Another girl, 21-year-old Bella Smith, who is in a foster (抚养) program for young adults, notes that Dunn pays special attention to self-respect and spiritual strength. “When I’m fishing, I can forget about the past and enjoy something fun,” says Bella Smith. “Fishing has taught me that I can have a better life than what I had. Whenever I feel down, I know it’s time to go fishing.”
“There’s nothing like feeling the first pull on the line and seeing a kid’s face light up with a smile,” Dunn adds. “I feel lucky to witness that every weekend.”

My father was busy fixing Belinda’s spaceship all afternoon. In the evening, I went to the landing place. “Dear Father,” I said politely. “Have you found Belinda’s parents yet?”
“Not yet, my dear.” He shook his head.
I felt relaxed. I didn’t want to meet Belinda’s parents—they might be ten times as loud and bossy as she was.
But Belinda had followed me.
“Not yet?” she shouted. “Why not? I’ll send them a message! They’ll listen to me!”
Belinda ran to the radio. She shouted into it so loudly that I had to cover all my four ears. “Mummy! Daddy! I’m on an awful spaceship full of purple people! Come and find me now!”
“Poor Belinda!” my sister came and said. “Her parents must be missing her.”
“Huh!” I snorted (发出哼声). “Missing her? You’re joking! Who would want such a bossy kid back? They probably lost her on purpose.”
Belinda’s face clouded. I thought she was going to shout again, but she didn’t. Instead, something very strange happened — her eyes began to water!
“Oh, help!” said Roa. “Is she dying?”
I felt terrible. “Don’t die, Belinda! I didn’t mean it.”
Then Belinda opened her mouth wide and shouted, “What if it’s true? What if they’ve gone away and left me here forever?”
We were all so busy comforting Belinda that we didn’t notice the soft knock of a ship landing outside. We didn’t see two tall people come out of it until Belinda ran out in excitement.
“Mummy! Daddy!”
Belinda’s parents were even uglier than she was, but they looked polite. “Hello, dear,” the female said. “We’re sorry we kept you waiting.”
We smiled as the three of them boarded their spaceship. “Goodbye!” shouted Belinda. “Goodbye! Thanks for taking care of our baby girl!” said her father.
None of us answered. We waved (挥手) cheerfully as the ship took off and went far away into the stars.

When the king, the duke and I got to the house, three girls were standing at the door. They were Mary Jane, Susan and Joanna. The girls had big smiles on their faces because they were very happy to see their “uncles”. They hugged the king and the duke. Then the king saw the coffin (棺材) in the corner of the living room. His face became serious and walked slowly over to it.
The two frauds looked in the coffin and started crying so loudly that I’m sure the people in New Orleans could all hear them. The girls were crying, too. I felt very bad for them. I wanted to tell them that their ‘uncles’ were frauds but I didn’t say anything.
“This is the letter that my uncle wrote before he died,” Mary Jane said and gave it to the king. He opened it and read it aloud. “I leave my house and three thousand dollars in gold to my three nieces. And I leave my other property and three thousand dollars in gold to my brothers, Harvey and William.” The king went down and got the money. When the two frauds saw the pile of gold, their eyes shone as bright as the coins themselves. “Let’s take it upstairs and show it to everybody,” the king said. “We’ll count it in front of them and give the girls their three thousand dollars. We don’t want people to be suspicious (怀疑的).”
“I’ve got a better idea,” the duke said. “Let’s give the girls all the gold!”
“An excellent idea!” the king said. “And then we’ll find a way of getting it back later.”
We went back upstairs to the living room, where everyone was waiting for us. The king made a nice speech.
“Friends! Our brother was a good, kind man. He looked after these poor girls when they were left without a mother and a father. I’m sure he wanted to leave them all his money. So, Mary Jane, take it! Take it all!” And he handed the bag to Mary Jane. The women in the room started hugging each other and crying again. The men smiled. Everybody said, “What dear, good men!” and “How kind they are!” ...

On the 9th day of May, 1711, I was left alone on an island I did not know. I saw trees and fields, and soon I found a road with signs of human feet and some of cows and horses.
“Similar to England,” I thought, and this reduced my fear.
But then I saw some strange animals with long hair and paws. They were dirty and smelly. One of them lifted its fore paw (前爪). I was sure I was in danger and hit it with my sword (剑). It made a loud roaring sound like a lion.
Soon I found myself surrounded (包围) by about forty of these animals. I was full of fear. I ran to a tree and leaned my back against it, raising my sword to keep them away. Suddenly, to my surprise, they all ran away as fast as they could. I saw a gray horse walking softly in the field. It seemed strangely curious when it saw me.
The horse came very close. It was beautiful and noble (高贵的). I stroked (抚摸) it, but it did not seem to like this. Then something strange happened. Another large horse arrived. The two horses came up close to me, looking carefully upon my face and hands. It seemed that they were “talking” about me.
They made horsey sounds as they looked in my direction. In their “conversation”, I repeatedly heard the word “Yahoo”. I did not understand this word, but I tried to communicate with them.
I pronounced “Yahoo” in a loud voice. The gray horse seemed really surprised at this. It repeated the word “Yahoo” twice. I spoke after it just like it did. After that, the other horse challenged me with another word “Houyhnhnm”, which was much harder to speak. At first, I didn’t succeed pronouncing it. But after two or three further tries, I got much better at it. Both horses looked really amazed.
“If the horses in this land are so smart” I thought, “then the people must be geniuses!”
After some further discussion, the two friends showed they wanted to take me somewhere. Then I followed them. We arrived at a large, clean and wooden building. like a house. looked around for some men and women. But to my surprise, there were only horses. Some were standing, some were sitting and the mares were looking after their young in a very gentle way.

成长励志类:积累“resilience”(韧性)、“overcome difficulties”(克服困难)、“self-confidence”(自信)等词汇;
传统文化类:积累“Chinese tea ceremony”(中国茶道)、“Shaanxi fast board”(陕西快板)、“Changzhou comb”(常州梳篦)等词汇;
做2023-2025年常州中考真题(如2025年《钓鱼的故事》、2024年《8岁女孩的善举》),分析“题型分布”“主题范畴”“难度趋势”;

1.What does the underlined word “that” refer to in Paragraph 2?
A.Creating the short piece of music. B.Following the beat of the music.
C.Finding a good hearing conductor. D.Practising hard for four years.
2.Why did Yu Qinxin and her students start “Walawala”?

1.What most probably happened before this passage?
A.“I” just met Belinda’s parents.

1Ban Zhao (45—116): China’s First Female Historian
As the first woman in Chinese history to work as a professional historian, Ban Zhao completed her brother Ban Gu’s important work Book of Han, which recorded 230 years of Western Han history.

根据“‘If the horses in this land are so smart’ I thought, ‘then the people must be geniuses!’
根据“After some further discussion, the two friends showed they wanted to take me somewhere.”
