Dear Michael.
I hope this email finds you well.Last week,I had the exciting opportunity to explore our school's newly
opened smart library.I just can't wait to share with you my experience.
Upon entering the smart library,I was impressed by the cozy atmosphere with intelligent lighting and its
advanced digital tools like tablets,Al-powered book recommendation systems and smart book checkout
systems. The Al-powered book recommendation systems were fascinating, giving me access to my desired
resources instantly via tablets. Then there was a virtual reality corner where I experienced reading.I also tried
the smart book checkout systems which made the borrowing process quick and easy.
My experience was incredibly refreshing. The cutting-edge technology allowed personalized access to
library services, thus making studying more engaging and efficient.I expect to see how this smart library will
continue to evolve and benefit our school community. How about libraries in your area?
Yours,
Li Hua

One Possible Version:
"You will be a beautiful narrator;"she comforted.Upon hearing her comforting words,I held back my
bitter tears, lost in deep thought.Hardly had she noticed the sadness on my face soften a little when she
caressed my hair, adding,'No one is born to be a princess. Why not take advantage of narrator's part?"With
mother's encouragement,I began to accept that the narrator's part was of vital significance. In the following
weeks, every lunchtime with my mother witnessed my mighty effort to practice my part of lines. So fast did
time pass that the performance day arrived.
六校联盟期中联考【高二英语】答案及评分标准(第1页,共5页)
Backstage on the night of the performance,I still felt nervous.Sweat oozing from my palms,it was at
that very moment that I found a dandelion in my pocket. In a flash,I realized my mother had passed the
flower to me,which meant to be in company with me.Consumed with courage and confidence,I concentrated
on my part and the performance turned out to be a great success, the audience standing up and bursting into
thunderous applause. After the play,I put the dandelion into my dictionary, which was a reminder of our
precious lunchtimes, bathed in the soft midday light.

[I M:There are many different types of writing, such as essays, letters and speeches.Whatever your
reason is and whatever your style is,there are some tips that will help you improve your writing.
Firstly,be clear about your purpose. The most basic question to ask yourself before you start is
why you are writing.Whatever you write, keep your purpose in mind at all times to avoid going
off topic.Secondly, start with an outline.Far too often people write without an outline.Whatever
you are writing, creating a clear outline is the first step to getting your message across quickly

and in the most effective way.Thirdly, write for readers, not for yourself.Your aim in writing is
to communicate ideas and information to other people, and you must keep that in mind with
every word and sentence you write.Constantly ask yourself who you really write the information
for.Lastly, write for the ear,not for the eye.Once you've finished a draft of your writing, read it
out loud. You'll hear something that sounds awkward.

In 2012,Chen Xunhu learned that swimming could help people with autism improve their vital ability,so

With millions of riders on the road,China's food delivery industry has long prided itself on being able to
reach every corner of the country. Now,Meituan is even offering to deliver takeout to the Great Wall-
dropped off not by a worker on an electric bike, but by a drone()sliding from the sky.
For the millions of tourists who visit the Great Wall each year, the drone delivery service offers a new
level of convenience.Visitors can now order meals and drinks via their smartphones, with drones delivering
their orders to their locations on the wall, which eliminates the need for tourists to leave their spots, allowing
them to fully engage in the experience of visiting the Great Wall without interruptions.
The Great Wall drone route extends from a nearby hotel rooftop to a watchtower on the southern part of
Badaling,an area previously free of commercial(商业的)facilities.“That's where drones can help,”Yan Yan,
public affairs director of Meituan's drone business, told CCTV."Through drones,we can make trips that take
50 minutes on foot in five minutes and deliver heat relief objects and emergency supplies to visitors."
Once an order is received,a Meituan worker will pick it up from a nearby store and bring it to the hotel
rooftop, where it will be weighed and packaged. An operator then ties the package to the drone, which will fly
on autopilot to the watchtower, where another worker waits to receive it and hands it over to the customer.
The company will initially offer free delivery while it tests the service, and claims that pricing will stay
similar to that of regular deliveries afterward.
Meituan's drone delivery at the Great Wall is another example of how drone technology can be used for
the last mile. The program could serve as a model for similar services in other tourist-heavy or geographically
challenging locations worldwide and have a promising future.

In times of intense stress, people sometimes let it out with a scream and a new study suggests that plants
might do the same.Researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel has found that plants let out ultrasonic()
screams when damaged or stressed by drought.
The noises,falling within a range of 20 to 100 kilohertz,are too high-frequency for humans to hear,but
other plants and some animals perceive them.Insects might be listening for sounds from stressed plants to
assess their condition before laying eggs on their leaves.A moth()may decide against laying eggs on a
plant that sounds water-stressed.
Researchers attached recording devices directly to plants to listen for secret sounds inside their stems().
In drought, air bubbles formed, burst and caused vibrations()within the tissue that normally carries water
up the plants'stems. The process was picked up by the attached recording devices, but researchers wanted to
know if any plant sounds could travel through the air.
So the team placed microphones 10 centimetres from stressed-out tomato and tobacco plants. They
subjected one set of crops to drought and another to physical damage.A third group was untouched.
The microphones did pick up distinct sounds. On average,drought-stressed tomato plants let out about
35 ultrasonic screams per hour, while those with cut stems made about 25.Drought-stressed tobacco plants let
out about 11 screams per hour, and cut crops made about 15 sounds in the same time. The average number of
sounds from untouched plants fell below one per hour..
The researchers also attempted to identify each plant group just based on its screams.Using a type of
artificial intelligence calculations, the team picked out distinct features in each set of sounds and successfully
sorted their plants into three kinds:"dry, cut or untouched."
If it is not too costly to set up the recording in a field situation, farmers might be able to hear these stress
signals too.In future,enabling farmers to listen for water-stressed plants could"open a new direction",which
will be increasingly important as climate change exposes more areas to drought.
32.The moth is mentioned in paragraph 2 to show.
A.moths need enough water when laying eggs
B.some animals are able to hear plants scream
C.some insects are picky about their surroundings
D.wildlife species depend on each other when stressed
33.What can we learn from the research?
A.Plants'sounds couldn't be detected by humans.
B.Plants can be grouped according to their features.
C.Plants'screams are related to stress types in a way.
D.Air bubbles contribute to the lack of water in plants.

We all want to be successful.36 We tend to focus directly on the end goals, failing to realize our
big goals are not going to happen overnight. This is why celebrating small wins is so important in giving us
motivation()to push through difficulties and move forward. Then how to celebrate small wins?
Break large goals down into small goals. When faced with a large goal, our minds can slip into the habit
of delay.Small goals can help avoid this.37Instead,make sure you create small, achievable goals that
will allow you to see your progress more clearly. These small successes will help you feel good with each
little step.
Reward yourself.38 It could be anything from treating yourself to your favorite coffee or even
taking a trip somewhere.Having something to look forward to trains the brain into creating motivation, which
can speed up your pace of success.
Don't pressure yourself.Putting strict deadlines()on your goals can lead to possible feelings of
failure, even when there are small victories along the way.39This will increase your happiness and
motivation as you celebrate small wins.
Track your progress.Sometimes,we can give up because we are unaware of how close we are to success
and forget how much we've done. Then why not keep a record? It will remind you how far you've come in
achieving your goal.40
In short, small wins make huge successes.Celebrating small wins will make long-term goals easier to
achieve in the long run.
A.Be flexible with your time limits.
B.Small wins can actually be easy to ignore.
C.The negative feelings may slow down your success.
D.So don't expect to realize your big dream instantly.
E.Do what you enjoy the most each time you complete a step.
F.But along the journey to success,we can feel discouraged sometimes.
G.Besides, seeing all the small wins written down can be a reward in itself.

A dandelion (kept in my dictionary always reminds me of my lunchtimes with my mother.
When I was in the third grade,I was picked to be the princess in the school play, and for weeks my
mother had practised my lines (so hard with me.But no matter how easily I delivered them at home,as
soon as I stepped onstage, every word disappeared from my head. Finally,my teacher took me aside. She
explained that she had written a narrator's()part to the play, and asked me to switch roles.
I didn't tell my mother what had happened when I went home for lunch that day.But she sensed my pain,
and instead of suggesting we practice my lines, she asked if I wanted to walk in the yard.
It was a lovely spring day and the rose vine (was turning green.Under the huge trees,we could see
yellow dandelions popping through the grass in bunches,as if a painter had touched our landscape with a little
bit of gold.I watched my mother casually bend down by one of the dandelions."I think I'm going to dig up
all these weeds,"she said, suddenly pulling a flower up by its roots."From now on,we'll have only roses in
this garden.”
“But I like dandelions..”I protested(抗议),“All flowers are beautiful-even dandelions.”,My mother
looked at me seriously."Yes,every flower has its own beauty, doesn't it?"she asked thoughtfully.I nodded,
feeling pleased that I had won her over."And that is true of people too,"she added."Not everyone can be a
princess.Hence, there is no shame in that."
Relieved that she had sensed my pain,I started to cry when I told her what had happened. She listened
and smiled.
