Talking about friends,I desire those who will share my happiness, who have wings of
their own and who will fly with me.I seek friends whose qualities illuminate()me
and train me up for love.It is only for these people that I reserve()the glowing
hours
When I was in the eighth grade,I had a friend.We were shy and"too serious"about
our studies when it was becoming fashionable with our classmates to learn acceptable
social behaviors. We said little at school, but she would come to my house and we
would sit quietly together and write separate poems or stories about different topics(
)Then we would read them aloud. At the end of that school year,we,too, were
changing into social creatures()and the stories and poems stopped.
When I lived for a time in London,I had a friend.He was in despair()and I was
in despair. But our friendship was based on the idea in each of us that we would be sorry
later if we did not explore this great city because we had felt bad at that time.We met
every Sunday for five weeks and found many excellent things. We walked until our
despairs disappeared and then we parted. We gave London to each other.
For almost four years I have had a remarkable pen friend whose imagination
illuminates mine.We write long letters where we often discover our strangest selves.
Each of us appears,sometimes in a funny way,in the other's dreams.She and I agree
that,at certain times,we seem to be parts of the same mind.In my most interesting
moments,I often think,"Yes,I must tell...",though we have never met.
It is such comforting companions I wish to keep. One bright hour with their kindness

Hangzhou,China---a grand opening ceremony full of Hangzhou characteristics
amazed the world on Saturday,as President Xi Jinping announced the 19th Asian Games
open.
The opening show helped to express the host's warm hospitality and its wish to unite
the world through sports.Following an opening performance about the autumn
equinox(),one of China's 24 solar terms that celebrates the harvest season, over
50,000 audiences burst into cheers as Xi declared the opening of the Hangzhou Games,
making the Zhejiang provincial capital the third Chinese city to host the continental
sporting gala, following Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.
Wang Hao,president of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou Organizing Committee, said
Hangzhou is honored to play host to such a grand event, which started on September
23rd.Raja Randhir Singh, the acting president of the Olympic Council of Asia, showed
appreciation for the Chinese host's meticuloust(细心的)organization in his speech.“Youl
have done a great job in preparing for the Asian Games. The one-year delay due to the
pandemic was a pity, but your determination will bear fruit over the next 16 days and
高一年级英语学科试题第5页(共12页)
you will be rewarded with the most wonderful and successful Asian Games ever,"said
Singh.
Supported by new technologies, the Hangzhou ceremony created many historic firsts.
For the first time in China, organizers changed from a traditional fireworks show to a
virtual display,projected()onto a giant curtain screen the size of nine IMAX
screens. For the first time in lighting the main cauldron, hundreds of millions of virtual
sparks, each standing for a participant of the online torch relay, formed the shape of a
human torchbearer(火炬手),who ran into the stadium(体育馆)to finish the task with
the physical relay's final bearer---Zhejiang native and Olympic champion swimmer,
Wang Shun.
The technologies were not just used for the ceremony.During the whole period,
zero-emission clean methanol()was used for the torches. The electric vehicles were
used to transport officials, athletes and the audiences. The devices in the stadiums were
specially designed to save energy.

As a result of trade, travel and migration, different cuisines have spread across the
world. Many recipes, chefs and restaurants try to announce that their food of a country
or region is the most authentic(正宗的).But is this a good thing?
高一年级英语学科试题第6页(共12页)
People care about authenticity because food traditions are closely linked to
identity(),particularly for migrant communities.Sociologist and professor of food
studies,Krishnendu Ray,explains that home cooking is often the last way that
communities can show their identity.British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was accused of
trying to take advantage of positive feelings about Jamaica. His ready meal product had
a Jamaican name, but was unlike real Jamaican cooking.
However, food consultant Sara Kay asks whether there are problems with the idea of
authenticity. She stresses that these ideas often come from the expectations that majority
cultures have about minority cultures and their food. These can be restricting()
---restauranteurs have complained that people expect Asian food to be cheaper than that
from European cultures.Expectations can also give people a false idea of what is
authentic. While large cities are full of eateries representing different countries---China,
India,Italy,Mexico and more---these labels can oversimplify the reality of food from
these countries.Stephanie Elizondo Greist is surprised by the recognition()that
foods in Mexico are more authentic than what she ate growing up as a
Mexican-American in Texas, because she feels that both are authentic examples of
Mexican food.
A more controversial(有争议的)view of authenticity was stated by American Chef
Andrew Zimmern, who claimed that he could bring in Chinese dishes in a more
authentic way than existing restaurants --many of which are owned by
Chinese-Americans.Writer and food podcaster Ruth Tam points out that while these
restaurants altered their menus to suit local tastes,so does Zimmern. So,while food and
identity are closely linked, and failure to respect authenticity can cause offence, could
there be problems with the whole idea of authenticity?
32.Which of the following factors causes people to care about authenticity?
A.Taste.
B.Tradition.
C.Culture.
D.Identity.
33.What is the main idea of paragraph 3?
A.Eateries in different countries contribute to the authentic problem.
B.Expectation about authenticity may cause problems.
C.Asian food is cheaper than European food.
D.You can enjoy the traditional taste of Mexican food both in Mexico and America.
34.Which statement might Stephanie Elizondo Greist agree with?
高一年级英语学科试题第7页(共12页)
A.There can be only one authentic taste in a country.
B.What she eats in Texas means nothing to her.
C.Every person can have his or her own recognition of authenticity.
D.The regional specialities(should be the same in a country.
35.The underlined word"altered"has the similar meaning with
A.changed
B.kept
C.tricked
D.pressed

A Successful Sports Meeting
Our school held the sports meeting on our school playground last week. It was a great success. All the students enjoyed a great time.
There were many events like running, high jump and shot put. My schoolmates all had great fun during the matches. As I wanted to challenge myself, I took part in the long jump. With the encouragements of my classmates, I got the first place.
The sports meeting not only offered a good chance for us to relax, but also taught us the importance of teamwork and gave us the courage of facing challenges.

They put the pumpkin on the kitchen table. Jacob got some water and cleaned the pumpkin. Now they were ready to carve their Jack-O’-Lantern for Halloween! Tyler was responsible for the opening while Jacob took charge of hollowing the pumpkin to make room for a candle. The perfect pumpkin was so hard that Tyler pressed all her strength against it to find the right place to open. When Jacob reminded “be careful”, Tyler, unwilling to give up, slipped and the pumpkin fell off the table and broke.
Mom heard the pumpkin fell to the floor and rushed into the kitchen immediately. Feeling worried, mom rushed towards the two kids to check whether they felt OK at once. After making sure that the kids were all right, mom burst into laughter in the presence of the two messy kids. Tyler and Jacob felt very sad and were about to clean up the mess when mom, asked them to help pick up the remaining pumpkin. Mom flashed a bright smile: “Tonight, let’s have a pumpkin pie!”.

第10段材料:
Hi, I’m Melanie and I’m here to present our ideas for an anti-smoking public service video called “Kick it in!” This video forms part of the government’s “Healthy Living” campaign, which aims to promote a more active lifestyle. It is the first in a series of three, the other two being healthy eating and responsible drinking.
As you may know, when the anti-smoking campaign came in a few years ago, the number of smokers went down dramatically. However, since then, recent reports show that these figures have been going up again, particularly among the under 20s. This video is designed to discourage teenagers from taking up the habit.
The video itself follows a few days in the life of an unhealthy teenager and the effects smoking is having on him. This is quite different from the lives of those of his healthier, more active friends. Basically, we want to get across the idea that there’s a cost linked with smoking -a cost in terms of money, friends and your health. OK, has anybody got any questions?

In this video forms part of the government's healthy living campaign, which seems to promote a more active lifestyle. IT is the first in a series of three, the other two being healthy eating and responsible drinking. As you may know, when the anti smoking campaign came in a few years ago, the number of smokers went down dramatically. However, since then, recent reports show that these figures have been going up again, particularly among the under twenties. This video is designed to discourse teenagers from taking up the habit. The video itself follows a few days in the life of an unhealthy teenager and the effects smoking is having on him. This is quite different from the lives of those of his healthier, more active friends. Basically, we want to get across the idea that there's a cost linked with smoking, a cost in terms of money, friends and your health. okay. Has anybody got any questions?
