A Beijing girl surnamed Zhou gave herself a perfect birthday gift in February. The Beijing-based internet company employee got a 200-yuan ($27. 59) cake for half the usual price. The 30-year-old said the cake happened to be her favorite taste and she felt it was the most exceptional find in her year-and-a-half-long buying of “leftover blind box” — or randomly packed boxes of unsold food and drinks available at discounted rates.
Zhou is one among many middle-aged and young people who are increasingly using WeChat’s leftover blind box mini program Cherish Magic Bag, which satisfies consumers’ needs while recommends a low-carbon, low-waste lifestyle. After paying online through the program, consumers can collect the randomly packed boxes of leftover food during appointed time, typically just before closing time, between 8 and 10 pm.
“The original price is generally two to three times the price on the program,” Zhou said, adding that by placing 194 such orders, she ensured that food worth 5, 700 yuan, accounting for 520 kilograms in carbon dioxide emissions, did not go to waste. “I appreciate the environmental concept of the program. In addition, I’m curious and open to trying out different cuisines and new approaches,” she said, adding that she regularly checks for new additions on the program and tries them out.
Despite the discounted prices, Zhou said the quality of the service remains good, encouraging her to buy more using the program.
“The program gets along with the development trend of Internet Plus, in agreement with the sustainable (可持续的) development concept and provides a simple approach to dealing with food wastage by actively engaging with the public,” said Luo Xueming, chief expert at the Guangdong Modern Urban Industrial Technology Research Institute. However, Luo also stressed food quality and safety issues concerning perishable (易腐坏的) products, and emphasized the need to increase consumers’ awareness about food resources, which is important for enlarging the user base and ensuring the long-term success of the initiative. “Once it is widely carried out, this program will hold significant importance for China’s food security strategy, “ he said.
4. What can we learn about “leftover blind box”?
A. It’s sold to the blind. B. It can be got anytime.
C. It is a widespread lifestyle. D. It can be bought at a reduced price.
5. What does the author want to show by mentioning the numbers in paragraph 3?
A. Zhou has got a cheaper item.
B. Zhou is fond of the program.
C. Much money has been spent on the program.
D. The program is of great benefit to the environment.
6. What is Zhou’s attitude towards “leftover blind box”?
A. Favorable. B. Objective. C. Doubtful. D. Indifferent.
7. According to Luo Xueming, which of the following is the biggest concern?
A. Food price. B. Food safety.
C Environmental protection. D. Sustainable development.

A few days ago, I watched a video of myself talking in perfect Chinese. I’ve been studying the language on and off for only a few years, and I’m far from fluent. But there I was, pronouncing each character just as a native speaker would. “My favorite food is sushi,” I said — wo zui xihuan de shiwu shi shousi.
I’d created the video using software from a Los Angeles-based artificial-intelligence start-up called HeyGen. The technology, which only needs a single selfie and a script to generate deepfake videos of real people “saying” almost anything, is a testament (证明) to the advancements in AI language tools. This got me thinking about the declining interest in language learning with fewer students enrolling in foreign language courses and the decrease of English proficiency among young people in some places.
AI translation, integrated into social media and messaging platforms, seems to be everywhere. Even language-learning apps are using AI-generated content in their marketing. However, language translation is an art rather than a science. Something enormous will be lost in exchange for that convenience. As Anne, a Chinese translator said, “Building a ladder between widely different languages, such as Chinese and English, is sometimes as difficult as a doctor building a bridge in a patient’s heart,”
Language learning fosters cultural competency, a skill that AI cannot simply copy. Learning a different way to speak, read, and write helps people discover new ways to see the world. No machine can replace such a profound human experience. Deborah Cohn, a language professor, emphasizes that language learning is actually about understanding and connecting with different cultures; Instead of abandoning language courses in favor of AI, some educators advocate for emphasizing the intercultural aspects of language learning. Paula Krebs of the MLA points out that even with a “universal translator”, sometimes, the greater meaning of people’s utterance (言辞) remains a mystery.
In essence, while AI language tools offer convenience, they lack the depth and cultural insight that comes from human language learning. The challenge and beauty of learning a language are in understanding the cultural tapestry (织锦) that weaves through words, something AI has yet to achieve.
8. Why does the author give the example in paragraph 1?
A To promote the language software.
B. To show off his Chinese language skills.
C. To prove learning a language is a wasted effort.
D. To encourage critical thinking about AI language tools.
9. What can we learn from paragraph 3?
A. AI translation deserves more attention.
B. Language apps play a key role in marketing.
C. Language translation is far beyond technology.
D. Learning a different language is an uphill battle.
10. What is the key benefit of learning a language according to the passage?
A. Better digital literacy.
B. Improved translation skills.
C. Deeper cultural confidence.
D. Effective intercultural interaction.
11. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?
A. AI language tools offer convenience.
B. AI facilitates language learning in terms of culture.
C. AI is far from perfect in helping language understanding.
D. AI has achieved success in the development of language learning tools.
D
There are plenty of health benefits of spending time in the great outdoors. According to a study published in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research, people who grew up with access to nature may have better mental health as adults than those who did not.
To test their hypothesis (假设) ,researchers sent questionnaires to 3, 585 adults aged 18 to 75 in four European cities on topics such as how often they visited natural spaces as children and now as adults. Participants were also given psychological test to determine the state of their mental health in the last month. Adults with low levels of nature exposure during childhood saw “significantly worse” mental health issues and did not view natural spaces as much importance in adulthood as those who spent more time growing up outside.
Researchers say that their findings show the importance of childhood exposure to natural spaces as it relates to developing an appreciation of nature and healthy psychological state in adulthood.
This is particularly significant, because almost three-quarters of Europeans currently live in urban areas with little access to green spaces. That number is expected to increase to 80 percent in the next three decades. Mental health has been shown to be negatively influenced by urban environments due to exposure to noise, crowds and a lack of green spaces among other things. Children who lead inactive lifestyles are more likely to have a lower quality of life and physical health.
“Many children in Europe lead an indoor lifestyle, so it would be desirable to make natural outdoor environments available, attractive and safe for them to play in," said study author Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, director of ISGlobal's Urban Planning, Environment and Health Initiative. "We make a call on policymakers to improve the availability of natural spaces for children and green schoolyards."
12. What inspiration do researchers take from their findings ?
A. the health of children's psychology.
B. the state of children's mental health.
C. the development of nature appreciation.
D. the importance of childhood exposure to nature.
13. What can we infer from Paragraph 4 ?
A. Europeans prefer an inactive lifestyle.
B. European Children are in good physical health.
C. Europeans lack access to natural spaces.
D. European Children probably suffer lower quality of life.
14. What in the future is the study most likely to influence according to the last paragraph?
A. Urban planning. B. Economic policies.
C. Child education. D. Local tourism.
15. What can be the best title for the text?
A. Indoor Activities Are Good for Children's Growth
B. Living in Urban Areas Harms Psychological Health
C. An Inactive Lifestyle Means a Lower Quality of Life
D. Childhood Exposure to Nature Benefits Mental Health

第二节 (满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I still vividly remember the day when my hands shook uncontrollably as I stood in front of the class. It was my first oral presentation in high school, and my heart raced so wildly that I was sure everyone could sense my tension. My throat felt dry, and when I opened my mouth to speak, only a faint whisper came out. The neatly written notes in my hands became crumpled (褶皱的) from my sweaty grasp. Thirty pairs of eyes stared at me, waiting, judging. The silence in the room was unbearable. When I finally finished my rushed speech, I practically ran back to my seat, my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
For years afterward I avoided any situation that required public speaking. Group discussions made my stomach upset. Even raising my hand to answer a simple question felt like an impossible challenge. My teachers would often encourage me, saying, “You have such great ideas — if only you would share them with the class.” But no matter how much I wanted to speak up, the fear always won.
Then everything changed during my junior year. My English teacher, Mrs. Carter, announced that our class would take part in a school-wide debate competition. My stomach dropped when she read out the team assignments — my name was on the list. “You can do this,” she told me firmly, noticing my panicked expression. My first reaction was to make an excuse and quit, but something inside me resisted. Maybe it was the determined look in Mrs. Carter’s eyes, or maybe I was just tired of letting fear control me. Either way, I decided to face it.
The weeks leading up to the debate were hard. I practiced without stop — rehearsing (排演) my arguments in front of the mirror, recording myself to catch mistakes, and staying after school to run through speeches with my teammates. At first, my voice shook, and I kept forgetting my points. But slowly, with each repetition, my confidence grew.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
The day of the competition arrived.

A. To promote the language software.
C AI is far from perfect in helping language understanding.
D. AI has achieved success in the development of language learning tools.
【答案】8. D 9. C 10. D 11. C

【答案】12 D 13. C 14. A 15. D

【13题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中“This is particularly significant, because almost three-quarters of Europeans currently live in urban areas with little access to green spaces. That number is expected to increase to 80 percent in the next three decades. Mental health has been shown to be negatively influenced by urban environments due to exposure to noise, crowds and a lack of green spaces among other things. (这一点尤为重要,因为目前几乎有四分之三的欧洲人居住在城市地区,很少能接触自然环境。这一数字预计在未来30年将增加到80%。由于暴露于噪音、人群和缺乏自然环境等因素,城市环境对心理健康产生了负面影响) ”可知,欧洲大部分的人居住在城市里,欧洲人缺乏接触自然空间的途径。故选C。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段““Many children in Europe lead an indoor lifestyle, so it would be desirable to make natural outdoor environments available, attractive and safe for them to play in," said study author Mark Nieuwenhuijsen, director of ISGlobal's Urban Planning, Environment and Health Initiative. "We make a call on policymakers to improve the availability of natural spaces for children and green schoolyards." 故选A。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段“There are plenty of health benefits of spending time in the great outdoors. According to a study published in the International Journal of Environmental Health Research, people who grew up with access to nature may have better mental health as adults than those who did not.

Your identity is who or what you are and what you do. Just as the things you do, such as following popular fashion, create your identity, the things you read do too. Books, magazines or even websites you frequently read or visit influence the way you think and what you believe in. ___16___ For example, if you had read that littering kills the earth and contributes to pollution and that has convinced you, you will believe that littering is bad. This is because reading stories leads you to imagine situations, and this makes you understand others better. ___18___ You become less self-centred and more caring. People start seeing you as someone who is merciful, and that becomes part of your identity.

For years afterward, I avoided any situation that required public speaking. Group discussions made my stomach upset. Even raising my hand to answer a simple question felt like an impossible challenge. My teachers would often encourage me, saying, “You have such great ideas — if only you would share them with the class.” But no matter how much I wanted to speak up, the fear always won.
Then, everything changed during my junior year.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
The day of the competition arrived.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When the judges announced our team as the winners I couldn’t believe it.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
The day of the competition arrived. Backstage, my legs shook like leaves. My hands were wet, and my heart beat so hard that I thought it would jump out. But when it was my turn, I breathed deep, squeezed my fists for bravery, and walked onstage. Surprisingly, my voice didn’t shake. I talked smoothly, really sharing ideas — not just reciting nervously. People listened closely. After we finished, the audience stood and clapped. Our show was great. We just waited for the result.
When the judges announced our team as the winners, I couldn’t believe it. The audience’s claps felt like a wave, making me warm — something I’d never felt before. Then I knew I’d done what I once thought impossible: I beat my fear. This taught me a big lesson: confidence isn’t about never being scared. It’s facing fear, moving past it, and knowing you’re stronger. Now I don’t hide from speaking. I present myself in class or lead talks with confidence, proud of my voice I once struggled to use.
