On October 13, 2024, SpaceX successfully launched (发射) its fifth test flight (飞行) of the Starship rocket from Texas. This test was very important because it showed that rockets could be used again.
The Starship rocket has two parts: the Starship spacecraft and the Super Heavy rocket booster (推进器). In the morning, the Starship spacecraft was launched on top of the Super Heavy rocket. After a few minutes, the Super Heavy rocket moved apart from the Starship and went back to Earth. SpaceX used very large strong arms called “chopsticks” to catch the rocket in mid-air. This was the first time SpaceX caught a rocket like this.
At the same time, the Starship spacecraft went on flying before dropping down in the Indian Ocean. Although the spacecraft went down in the sea, this test showed that rockets could be reused, and that is what SpaceX wants to make space travel cheaper and better for the environment (环境).
This successful test flight brings SpaceX closer to their dream of making space travel less expensive and better for the space. It also supports future plans for the Moon and Mars (火星).

For thousands of years, humans have looked up at the sky and wondered about space. Today, we have made great progress in space exploration. But there are still many things we don’t know.
One of the biggest questions is: Are there other forms of life in space? Scientists have been looking for answers for a long time. They have sent spaceships to other planets to look for signs of life. For example, Mars is the most similar planet to Earth. Scientists have found water on Mars, which is necessary for life. But they haven’t found any living things there yet.
Another question is: How did the universe begin? Most scientists believe that the universe began with a big bang (大爆炸) about 13.8 billion years ago. But no one is sure. They are still doing research to find out the truth.
Space exploration is also important for us on Earth. It helps us develop new technologies. For example, the technology used in spaceships has been used to make better medical equipment (设备) and communication tools. Space exploration also makes us realize that Earth is our only home. We should protect it.
Although space exploration (探索) is difficult and expensive, it’s worth it. It helps us understand the world better and opens up new possibilities for the future.

C. It helps us find more water.
D. It helps us make more money.
50. What does the writer’s think of space exploration?

39.What are the two main parts of SpaceX’s Starship rocket?
