Robotic dogs have become famous online! A robotic dog being tested for rubbish transport (运输) shows the attention of visitors at Taishan Mountain in Taian, Shandong Province. During the tests, the robot could reach the top of the mountain in two hours, while the average time for adults without carrying anything is about four hours. The robot can work for four to six hours on a full charge (充电).

Almost every kid around the world loves snacks (零食),but they seldom (很少) care how healthy they are. Although some snacks like chocolate and candies are found everywhere, others are special to a country or a culture. Let’s have a look.
In Japan, matcha(抹茶) is a kind of green tea powder (粉). It is made from tea leaves and can be used with ice cream or cake. In fact, matcha came from China first but took off in Japan. Biscuits or cookies covered with chocolate are also a Japanese favourite.
Potato chips and French fries are very popular in the US. They are cheap but tasty. But they are high in calories and eating too much may make you fat. Popcorn is another typical (典型的) snack. People eat it when they are watching sports games or visiting the amusement park. Most cinemas sell it.
In the UK, many people sit down for snacks at around 4 p.m. every day. They call it “afternoon tea”. Traditional afternoon tea is biscuits and tea. People also have scones (烤饼,司康饼) with jam and cream, which is probably the most classic English snack. Potato chips and French fries are popular in the UK, too.
Do you want to eat snacks in a healthy way? Here are some helpful tips. Have a look! A handful of walnuts (核桃) are great for your brain. But a whole bag will add nothing but fat. If you’re crazy for chocolate, try a hot chocolate drink instead of a chocolate bar. Don’t eat too many snacks after dinner.

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his life, he might write about them in his diary. Now a teenager might surf the Internet and write about his problems in his blog. In some ways, a diary and a blog are almost the same. What makes a blog different from a diary? The biggest difference is that a blog is much more public than a diary. I have a younger sister, and sometimes I read her blog. She writes about things like getting up early for swimming practice and not studying enough for her maths exam. When I was her age, I wrote the same things but only in my diary. After I finished writing, I would put my diary in a secret (秘密的) place because I was worried that someone else might read it.
A blog is public so it has some bad points. The biggest problem is that anyone can read what you write. If I am angry with a friend during school and write something bad about him in my diary, he will never know. However, if my sister writes something bad about a friend, that friend may read her blog and cry. So we must be very careful to write.
Blogs have good points, of course. If I feel lonely and write “Nobody cares about me” in my diary, no one will know about it. However, if my sister writes the same words in her blog, her friends will quickly reply and tell her how much they like her. A blog helps people keep in touch with their friends.
If people are careful, writing blogs is really a good way to communicate with others. However, I still enjoy my diary!

15. What’s the bad point of blogs?
A. People will be angry after reading your blog.
B. People can keep in touch with their friends.
C. Anyone can read what you write.
D. Nobody cares about others.
16. What can be the best title for this text?
A. The Reason Why the Writer Likes Diaries B. The Good Points and Bad Points of Blogs

MVP
When Brandon had the ball, I was open. But he passed it to Cole. We each had six points so far. But Cole was more popular, and the team fed him the ball. I must outscore Cole because I wanted to be the MVP—most valuable player.
Later, Jeff stole the ball from the Kings and passed it to me. I saw Cole running toward the basket, but no one was guarding me either. I threw the ball into the basket.
Cole slapped (拍) my hand. “Good shot (投篮), Derek,” I just smiled. Then Cole got the ball. He passed it to me and ran under the basket. I ignored (忽视) him and shot. But I failed. “Cole was open,” said Jeff.
“So was I,” I muttered (嘟囔). But I felt troubled inside.
“Hey, it’s no big deal,” said Cole. “We’re all trying to win this game. We’re a team.”
It happened fast, Cole got hurt. Now I thought I’d surely be MVP.
Everything didn’t look good. Every time I took the ball, two Kings players were guarding me instead of one. Cole had helped divide their attention before. I’d never thought about how much that helped me.
Down by one with little time left, I passed the ball to Brandon. He caught it and let it fly—right into the basket. We won!
We were all jumping around when I saw Cole on the bench.
“Hey,” I said. “Great game.”
“You, too,” said Cole, slapping my back. “Congratulations on getting MVP.”
I’d been waiting a long time to hear those words, but they didn’t seem so important now.
“Thanks,” I said. “It was a team effort.”
And I finally understood just what that meant.
