The Dazu Rock Carvings (大足石刻) are one of the world’s eight most famous Buddhist carvings. Made between the 9th and 13th centuries during China’s Tang and Song Dynasties, they include over 50,000 statues and are considered the highest level of grotto (石窟) art from that time. These carvings were cut directly into the cliffs, a method known as Moya Carving. In 1999, UNESCO recognized them as a World Heritage Site, meaning they are protected and belong to everyone in the world.
What makes Dazu Rock Carvings special is that they show characters from Buddhism (佛教), Taoism, and Confucianism together. This shows how different beliefs lived peacefully together in ancient China. Besides gods and religious (宗教的) stories, the carvings also show everyday life—like farming, dancing, and family scenes—making them close to real people.
The two main carving sites are on Beishan and Baodingshan mountains. Beishan carvings were started in the late Tang Dynasty and finished in the Song Dynasty. They are known for their great craftsmanship (工艺) and elegance, with about 10,000 statues mostly carved to show respect to Buddha.
Baodingshan, the larger and more famous site, lies northeast of Dazu. It includes beautiful carvings from the 12th and 13th centuries set in a U-shaped valley, along with temples and a museum.
The rock carving art has been handed down from generation to generation for over 1,300 years. It has made significant contributions to the development of Chinese rock carving art, Chinese fine arts, and even global fine arts. Dazu District works hard to protect it.
48. How are the Dazu Rock Carvings different from other ancient carvings?
A. They are the oldest Buddhist carvings in the world.
B. They were carved using a special colored stone.
C. They were all completed within one dynasty.
D. They show a mix of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.
49. Which of the following is TRUE about the Beishan carvings?
A. They are located in a U-shaped valley.
B. They were started in the early Tang Dynasty.
C. They have nearly 10,000 statues showing respect to Buddha.
D. They are the largest site among the Dazu Rock Carvings.
50. What can we infer about ancient Chinese society based on (基于) the Dazu Rock Carvings?
A. Compared with other religions, the rulers at that time preferred to believe in Confucianism.
B. The carvings served as a historical record of both spiritual (精神的) and daily life in ancient society.
C. During the Tang and Song dynasties, different religions were strictly separated and couldn’t affect (影响) each other.
D. The scenes of common people’s lives in the Dazu Rock Carvings were added at a later time.
51. If the passage continues, what will be discussed in the next paragraph?
A. The materials and tools used to make the carvings.
B. A comparison with other famous heritage sites in China.
C. What is being done to protect the carvings today.
D How tourism helps make money for Dazu District.

We didn’t always live on Mango Street. My family moved often. The move started even before I could clearly remember, on Paulina Street. Then we lived on Keeler Street, and later, we stayed on the third floor of a building on Loomis Street.
Once, an old lady asked where I lived. I pointed to our apartment. Her surprised “You live there?” left me completely embarrassed. Right then, I understood why my parents dreamed of a real house.
Life on Loomis Street was tough. The water pipes broke, and our landlord (房东) refused to fix them. We had to use our neighbor’s bathroom and carry water in milk gallons (牛奶桶). That’s why we left in a hurry. Mama and Papa looked for a house, and we moved into the house on Mango Street, far away, on the other side of town.
At present, we live on Mango Street. The house is ours—we don’t have to pay rent to anybody, or share the yard with the people down stairs, or be careful not to make too much noise, and there isn’t a landlord troubling. But even so, it’s not the one we have dreamed of because it’s a small red house with broken bricks and a small backyard. Mommy sighs (叹气) at the small kitchen sink because it drips (滴水) all the time, though she admits at least we don’t need to line up at the public faucet (水龙头) like before.
Mama and Papa always tell us that one day we will move into a real house which will be ours forever, with running water, a basement, at least three bathrooms, and a big yard. It was what Papa talked about with a lottery ticket (彩票), Mama dreamed up in our bedtime stories and what I hoped to point to with pride one day.
Mama and Papa say this red house is temporary. “Just for now,” they say. But I have a feeling that we might be here for a long long time.
—Adapted from The House on Mango Street

①On March 10, 2025, a tech company from Shanghai named AgiBot made big news by introducing a new model called GO-1. People are excited because GO-1 acts like a very smart “robot brain.” It lets machines learn and do things in a way that is similar to humans.
②The man behind the special model is Peng Zhihui, who is famous online as “Zhi Hui Jun.” He was born in China in 1993. In 2020, he began working at Huawei. However, he decided to leave the company in 2022. He had a bigger dream— ▲ . So, he started his own company, AgiBot. With the support of investors (投资者) like BYD that owns big car factories and Sequoia China, it has quickly become a leading force in the field of robots.
③GO-1 is special because of its VILLA system. It perfectly combines three key abilities: vision (seeing) language (understanding), and action (moving), which is quite different from older robots. Instead of needing people to program every single task, GO-1 can learn just by watching human videos. For example, if it watches someone hanging clothes, it figures out the steps.
④Besides the smart system, GO-1 develops its learning ability by processing a large number of data (数据). It uses four types of data to learn: knowledge from the Internet like texts and pictures, human videos, virtual (虚拟的) environments, and real-world tests with robots.
⑤The achievements of GO-1 are very amazing. In many different tests, it improved the success rate (比率) of completing tasks by 32%. It can do things like pouring water, cleaning tables, and organizing a fridge.
⑥Its “Latent planner” technology is really helpful, too. By predicting the hidden steps between actions in a video, this feature alone added a 12% increase in the robot’s overall performance.
⑦What’s even more amazing is that GO-1 can learn new skills quickly. It can sometimes master a new skill after watching it being done only five times. For example, after a short show on how to sort different objects, it can successfully perform the task itself.
⑧Peng Zhihui’s team already has orders for 1000 robots and plans to make more at a factory in Shanghai. GO-1 is now being used in factories, hospitals, and homes, providing services like taking care of the elderly and preparing meals. It seems that Peng’s idea of robots being “partners, not tools” is coming true.
56. Which sentence is the best to put in the ▲ in paragraph 2?
A. he thought working for a big company was not challenging enough for him.
B. he wanted to create robots that could truly understand what people need.
C. he needed to find investors like BYD and Sequoia China to support his new idea.
D. his new model, GO-1, was already very successful at that time.
57. According to the passage, which of the following is NOT mentioned about GO-1?
A. It can learn new skills by watching human videos.
B. It can do housework like cleaning tables and organizing a fridge.
C. It is used in car factories owned by the investor BYD.
D. Its “Latent planner” technology helps it guess hidden steps.
58. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Story of Peng Zhihui: A Young Man’s Robot Dream
B. A New VILLA System: Learning by Seeing and Doing
C. How a Robot Learns from Watching Videos
D. GO-1: A Smart Robot Brain That Can Be a Friend
59 Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
A. ①/②/③④⑤/⑥⑦⑧ B. ①②/③④/⑤⑥⑦/⑧
C. ①/②③/④⑤/⑥⑦⑧ D. ①②/③④/⑤⑥/⑦⑧

Wuyishan in Fujian Province has been a famous production area for rock tea since ancient times. Wuyi Rock Tea was highly praised in Chinese history and was traded along the ancient Tea Horse Road.
The processing of the tea, with a history of over 1,000 years, must go through several steps including picking, withering (萎凋), roasting (烘焙) and rolling (捻揉). Fresh tea leaves are green, but after roasting and aging, they become dark and tightly twisted. The roasting process lasts for hours and is key to developing the tea’s special flavor (风味).
Even today, much of the work is done by hand. In a traditional tea workshop in Wuyishan, workers dressed in simple clothing carefully roast and roll tea leaves over charcoal fires. “They are not performers. In fact, they are skilled masters,” says Mr. Chen, the workshop manager. “As more people learn about Wuyi Rock Tea, our visitors show great interest in how the tea is made and its cultural stories.”
At the same time, to ensure high quality, modern technology has also been introduced. In new tea factories, temperature and humidity are digitally controlled. “We use modern equipment to assist (辅助) in roasting and drying, which makes the process more precise,” Mr. Chen explains. “Although machines help with some steps, the key roasting and aging are still done in the traditional way, so the tea’s original taste remains.”
In recent years, the Wuyi Rock Tea industry has also been adapting to (适应) new trends. While carrying on traditional methods, it has welcomed creative ideas such as rock tea ice cream, tea-flavored chocolates, and even rock tea coffee.

“Vacation for most of us is exciting,” Monica Johnson, a psychologist, tells us. “It’s a new experience that can be terrible when you return to your normal life.” Every ordinary task after the vacation makes you painful, sad or empty. This feeling is called “post-vacation blues (节后综合征).” It makes you feel hard and confused to go back to your busy and responsible routine (常规). Here is what experts say about how you can feel better and maybe even avoid these blues.
Prepare your space for a successful return
Nothing stops you from a vacation high faster than returning to a mess. “When you come back and see a pile of dishes in the kitchen or clothes on the floor, your happy vacation mood will disappear quickly.” Michael Ceely, a psychotherapist, tells us that’s why it’s worth making your space tidy before going out.
Come back from vacation one day earlier or two
After days of fun and relaxation, it’s hard to quickly get used to your normal life. Ceely suggests returning on Saturday night or Sunday morning instead of getting home without enough time to prepare for the coming Monday. Your future self will be so thankful for giving yourself time to rest, unpack, and get ready for the week ahead.
Listen to the blues in your heart
Feeling blue after a vacation can be tiring, but it can also be a sign that something deeper is missing in your daily life. “People see their vacation as a way to run away from their boring life,” Johnson says. “it’s not a long-term solution to try to depend on a single trip. So I encourage people to reflect (反思) on their emotions: Is there something that needs to be different about your life? Let this understanding help you move toward a life you love.” For example, if you realize you feel much better in the sun, that may remind you to plan more winter holidays in some warmer places.
People may feel sad after a vacation, which is known as post-vacation blues. The good news is that ____84____. The first one involves ____85____, making sure a successful homecoming. Secondly, coming back from vacation one or two days earlier is advised, which provides people ____86____. Lastly, instead of depending on a single trip, people should ____87____.

例文
Dear Martin,
I’m so glad to receive your letter and hear that you like the tea set. I sent it to you because it is a symbol of Bayu culture and a witness of our friendship. The tea set was handmade by local artisans with unique patterns, which shows the excellent craftsmanship of Chongqing. I hope it brings you a taste of our local life and we can share tea and happiness together.
About how it was made: first, local clay is used to shape the tea set. Then, it is dried naturally. After that, artists paint traditional designs on it. Next, it is glazed to make it smooth and shiny. Finally, it is fired in a kiln at a high temperature to become strong and durable.
I hope you can enjoy using it. Write back soon!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
