一、词汇储备 (1) 名词 surprise; shock; amazement; astonishment; accident; danger; safety; emergency (2) 动词 amaze; freeze; surprise: startle; astound; bewilder; baffle; hurry; shout; yell; struggle (3) 形容词 panicked; panicky; panic-stricken; surprised; surprising; shocked; alarmed; hasty: scared; terrified; astonished; confounded; startling; unexpected; speechless; confused; dumbfounded; thunderstruck; unprepared; quick-minded; calm (4) 副词 suddenly; abruptly; unexpectedly; hurriedly; tightly; cautiously; undoubtedly (5) 短语 all of a sudden; in surprise; out of expectation; beyond all the expectations; out of the blue; in alarm; in a panic; take one's breath away; take by surprise; in a hurry; at a loss; leave ...speechless; in face of; without warning 二、表达方法 我们在读后续写中可以使用直陈式表述、描述性表述、比喻性表述、夸张性表述、拟人式表述、反语式表述和混合式表述七种方式来表达惊慌的情境。 1. I was surprised to see how well I understood. It is amazing to see how quickly they improve. She stopped in surprise. She couldn't believe it. She was surprised to find her name among them. Dr. Brown is rather surprised. He looks at Rose. Shocked and anxious, she asked me what happened. Apparently he'd been shocked when he saw a terrible accident. The strength and success of the German advance had surprised everybody. It amazes me to see families buying 12 packs or 24 packs of different kinds of pop. What surprised me most was to see some of the village people seated on the benches at the end of the room. He opens the envelope and holds a one-million-pound banknote in his hands. Henry is surprised and the owner and waiter are shocked. It is shocking that so little has been done in the past for these children without parents and we believe itis important to get something done to help them as quickly as possible. 2. Her face paled with fright. His eyes were wide with horror. Our mouths dropped open in surprise. Her heart beat wildly, her legs trembling. The animal's noises echoed all around us. Elli was stunned there, with the mouth wide open. He straightened up and looked at me, open-mouthed. To his surprise, someone from the station called him back right away. To the family's surprise, Wilma was soon out in the yard playing basketball. After knowing how terrible the accident I had met was, she was overwhelmed with astonishment. 3. John looked at Grandfather in surprise, his eyes twinkling like stars. Standing frozen as ice, I was flooded with overwhelming awkwardness and panic. 4. I was numb with shock! She froze in shock, unable to say a word. That loud noise scared me out of my wits. John was so shocked that he couldn't say a word. My heart was in my mouth when I walked into her office. 5. A moment of panic knocked him out. In the depth of night, a sound hit John's ears. In the middle of the pond, the ice gave way with a sudden crack. 6. The moment of panic was unbelievable. “That was incredible,” Grandfather shook his head and grinned. 7. To her surprise, she found herself indifferent world. Gently, she picked up the frightened child and carried him to the safety. While my father was looking through the evening paper, he suddenly let out a cry of surprise. As it had neither wings nor an engine, was amazed and asked him how his machine could fly. Napoleon was surprised. He looked at the tall soldier and asked him, “How old are you?” When I found this amazing power placed within my hands, I hesitated a long time thinking how I should use it. Tens of thousands of cows would never give milk again. Half a million pigs and millions of chickens were dead. Sand instead of water filled the wells. People were shocked. 1. The weather had been nearly perfect. Christina and I decided to hike to Acomat Falls. It was around 4 p.m. when we reached the falls --- a 30-foot barrel of white water shooting over the basin. We dove into the green pool and floated on our backs, looking up at the canyon (峡谷) walls. By 4:30, we knew we needed to head back to the car before dark, but I was waist deep in the river trying to photograph the falls, the hanging vines, and the dreaminess of the place, Christina was sitting on a stone above the basin. I finally got a good shot- and then she screamed. With a crack like thunder, a wall of brown water rushed over the top of the falls, carrying fragments of trees and plants with it, Flash flood. I jumped out of the river seconds before the flood crashed over the spot where I'd just been standing. Christina scrambled barefoot off the boulder (石) toward higher ground. Christina led us through dense brush, prickly(多刺的)trees, and ankle deep mud. When we'd climbed 200 feet, we stopped to catch our breath. Now we had a different problem: the trail and the road were on the other side of the swollen river. We were stuck in the canyon (峡谷). Then the sky opened up. Christina asked if I had my phone. It was wet, but still blinked on, No service. We decided to move toward higher ground to get a better signal. It was almost dark. For a moment, the phone was connected, and I heard the faint voice of Mae, our vacation rental host. She said she'd call for help. Then the phone went silent. Paragraph 1: We had no idea whether rescuers could reach us. Paragraph 2: After another hour, we saw faint lights across the canyon. We told each other not to panic as night set in. Christina found a tree which we used as a shelter from the rain. I tried to send more texts to Mae, but most of them bounced back undeliverable. There was nothing we could do but wait. We'd been stuck for nearly four hours. Shivering, we gathered closer for warmth. Gradually, it grew dark. Paragraph 2: After another hour, we saw faint lights across the canyon. My wet phone had begun to lose function, but the flashlight still worked. I turned it on and shone it at the canopy above as a signal. Shortly after, I heard the blades of a helicopter. In minutes, the trees were thrashing in the wind generated by the aircraft. A cable appeared through the canyon, and then a rescuer. We were safe.
