一、词汇储备 名词 fear; scare; dread; shock; danger; threat; terror; courage; bravery; warning; risk; horror; alarm; boldness; coward 动词 amaze; terrify; threaten; frighten; terrorize; endanger; risk; encourage 形容词 scared; scary; dreadful; threatening; terrified; terrible; afraid; frightened; timid; frightful; fearful; alarmed; fearless; brave; courageous; bold; daring; adventurous; heroic 副词 alone; instantly; quickly; hard; badly; terribly; immediately 短语 be afraid of, be frightened of; tremble at; have one's heart in one's mouth; hair standing on end, scare to death; hold one's breath; without warning; a narrow escape 二、表达方法 我们可以使用直陈式表述、描述性表述比喻性表述、夸张性表述、拟人式表述、反语式表述和混合式表述七种方式表达恐惧的心情。 1. I was scared stiff/silly. His frigid glance made me afraid. I am afraid under the vigilant eyes of the examiner. You cannot imagine how frightened I was when the wolf approached me. 2. Sally said I should try Bungee, but I had cold feet. That horror movie made my hair stand on end. Mac sat in the car, his heart still fluttering with fear. He could even imagine the wolf's teeth tearing into his flesh. My heart stood still when I saw the little baby was to fall from the second floor. Rain and tears mingle on my face, salty tracks blending into the fresh sky-fallen trickles. Only the pinkness of my eyes gives some clues to my sadness. 3. Yes, but for their timely help, I would have been the food of the wolf. They were surprised to find Mac's bicycle lying on the road and Mac was like a drowned mouse. She shook all over, feeling like sitting on pins and needles. 4. He was frightened out of life. It seemed as if the world were at an end. It seemed as if his life had come to an end. The explosion really frightened the pants off me. A snake came out of the woods and scared me to death. Mac was nearly dead with fright when he thought of the wolf's bloody mouth. Scared to death as he was, Mac struggled to crawl up and threw his bicycle at the wolf with all his strength. 5. A flood of fear welled up in him. The dark, rainy evening, the wind, the thundering clouds held me entirely in their power. 6. By this time his courage had fled. He held his breath, daring not to make a movement. 7. His voice shook with fear. I stood there quaking with fear. Being chased by an angry dog. I really had my heart in my mouth. Afraid that there might be more potential dangers ahead, Paul and Becky offered to drive them to Alaska. Rebecca, Abigail and their mother stood together, frightened, as they watched the enemy ship sail closer. 1. 1 thought I would die this day, though I was so young. David had medium dark hair, and he would always wear a pair of black jeans with a red shirt. David got his toy dinosaur when he was 3 months old from his grandma who had passed away. He named his dinosaur Dino. David month sold would take Dino from his grandma everywhere he went, but David was 18 now, David was going to head off to college in a few months. “David, what are you going to do with Dino?" asked his mom. Dino was basically part of David's family since David had always cared for it. “I don't know, Mom, It's been with me since I could remember,” responded David. Dino had a huge secret that only David knew about -- Dino could come to life. Whenever David needed help he would call for Dino to come to life. Dino helped David with tests, homework, and problems he had. But David did not want Dino to find out he wasn't going to take it to college because Dino would easily get mad like a rhino (牛). David went to his room to try to decide if maybe it wouldn't be bad to take Dino. David was planning to take Dino to a daycare center where there are many children willing to play, but David was too afraid to tell Dino. “You are hiding something from me”, David, said a mysterious voice. “What are you hiding?” asked the mysterious voice, “Who is that?” asked David. “You might know who this is but you might not,” responded the unknown voice. David thought that he was going mad, he was thinking he was in a deep dream. “David, the food is ready,” called out his mom. “Be right there, mom,” responded David.
