第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Climate change could have large impacts on food production across the world. Rising temperatures might boost crop production in cold regions but negatively impact production in warmer areas. Wheat and rice — which benefit from more CO2 in the atmosphere — could see growing output, while corn and sorghum (高粱) could see a decline with warmer temperatures.
Farmers can adjust their practices to a warmer climate in four key ways:
Farmers can change WHAT they plant. This could be an entirely different type of crop: corn instead of wheat. Or a different variety of a specific crop.
FOUR KEY WAYS
Farmers can change WHERE crops are planted. If temperatures rise in fall, crop production can shift north or southwards towards more suitable temperatures.
Farmers can change HOW crops are managed. Giving crops the right amount of water, nutrition, and protection from insects and disease can help reduce some impacts of climate change.
Farmers can change WHEN they plant. Farmers can plant earlier or later in the year, depending on when spring arrives. Adjusting planting dates requires no additional cost or work.
A recent study by experts modeled three adaptation methods — changing WHAT, changing WHEN and changing both of them. The chart below shows their impact on the output of corn, rice, sorghum, soybean (大豆) and wheat.
These three adaptation methods can already go some way to relieve climate pressures in some countries. But, of course, we don’t only care about crop production at the global level. If farmers in particular regions — especially those that are most food-insecure cannot adapt to climate change this is still a major problem. So there is more we can do in the future.
1. What should farmers change if they are short of money and labour?
A. WHAT. B. WHERE. C. HOW. D. WHEN.
2. Which crop may benefit most if farmers plant improved varieties?
A. Rice. B. Corn. C. Sorghum. D. Wheat.
3. What should be done in the future?
A To adopt the three methods. B. To help the farmers in need.
C. To focus on crop production. D. To move to colder regions.

I was born in a small town in Pakistan called Quetta in 1980. When I was a little boy of about ten years old, I developed an interest in calligraphy. Back then we only had a TV channel with limited programs. One of the programs was about learning calligraphy. I was engaged and spent several years learning different calligraphy scripts (笔迹) in the Urdu language.
After graduation, I came to Dubai, UAE, falling in love with the architecture and high-rise buildings. I wanted to shoot the amazing beauty from different angles. So I bought a camera and learned photography, joined photography groups and attended workshops. After a few years, I got bored of photographing landscapes and cityscapes.
Seven years ago, while going through the photography blogs and looking through others’ works, I read the term called “light painting”, a photography technique that allows you to draw in space. I started experimenting with that and soon it hit me: why not bring back my passion for calligraphy using light painting technique? Since that day, I’ve been drawing light calligraphy. To achieve the best results, I decided to build the lights myself. The best part about my work is that they are not photoshopped. I prefer to get the results straight out of the camera. I don’t even turn over the images. To achieve that, I have to write in reverse (倒置) and that took a lot of practice to get it right.
Currently, I’m working on the idea of bringing abandoned places back to life, including buildings which have lost their charm and are hidden in darkness. Through my photography, I try to employ light calligraphy by writing a word that attaches a deep meaning to those places and telling stories behind them. In this way, I hope people will revisit these places and appreciate the real reason for their construction.
4. What can be implied from the author’s experience in Quetta?
A. He had access to plenty art resources. B. He was fond of calligraphy channels.
C. He grasped scripts of many languages. D. He was willing to dig into calligraphy.
5. What made the author interested in taking pictures in Dubai?
A. Visual impacts of structures. B. Remarkable urban planning.
C. Mysterious building stories. D. Odd angles of architecture.
6. How did the author enhance the effects of light calligraphy?
A. By learning from others. B. By sticking to originality.
C. By beautifying his photos. D. By drawing in open space.
7. What is the author's role in practicing his current idea?
A. A calligrapher recording meanings. B. An artist regenerating forgotten sites.
C. A photographer revealing beauty. D. A historian looking for ignored areas.
C
Labubu dolls are hard to find. Even at the giant flagship store of their maker, Pop Mart, in Shanghai, customers are told they need to wait a week or longer. The lovely creatures, sold in “blind boxes” so that buyers don’t know which one they will get, are loved not only by Chinese children but also by famous people at home and abroad.
For many years, Chinese shoppers liked to follow foreign trends in fashion, make-up, hotels and other areas. But now, they are turning to local luxury brands, high-end make-up labels and milk tea shops. Furthermore, many of these brands are winning fans in other countries. Chinese brands are beginning to penetrate international markets with their unique products.
As consumers have become more careful about spending, cheap but good-quality local brands have grown popular. But lower prices are not the only reason for the love of Chinese brands. In many cases shoppers are paying the same or even more for local products. For instance, the best selling drinks at Chagee, a tea chain that went public in New York in April, are tea lattes(拿铁)that sell for 15-20 yuan ($2-3), almost the same as Starbucks’s top drinks in China.
Chinese consumers are also now far less crazy about foreign goods simply because they are foreign. The rapid rise of Laopu proves that. Instead of copying Western style, both Laopu and Chagee have shown off their Chineseness. It has worked. The competition is not limited to China. Pop Mart now has stores in more than 20 countries, including at least 37 in America. Chagee will have more than 1,300 shops outside China by the end of the year, up from almost none four years ago.
Experts believe that the more foreign recognition these brands get, the more popular they become within China. The popularity on Western social media over Labubu dolls is thought to have made them even more famous at home.
8. What’s the purpose of the first paragraph?
A. To promote a product.
B. To introduce the topic.
C. To present an argument.
D. To show the present situation.
9. What does the underlined word “penetrate” in paragraph 2 most likely mean?
A. Reject B. Ignore C. Enter D. Quit
10. What does the example of Chagee’s tea lattes show?
A. Price matters most to consumers.
B. Some local brands achieve high pricing.
C. cheap local brands are popular in China.
D. Chinese tea chains outperform foreign ones.
11. Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A. The Charm of Chinese luxury Brands
B. Why Milk Tea Brands Win the hearts
C. From Local Toy to Global Hit: Pop Mart leads the Way
D. From Foreign Trends to Local Love: Chinese Brands Shine
D
Cold winters can be extra annoying for people who wear eyeglasses. Whenever they come indoors, their glasses practically always fog up, just like when warm air from a car’s heater hits a cold windscreen.
When you enter a house from the extremely cold outdoors, the warm air around you cools. This causes some of the water vapor (水蒸气) in the air to turn into small drops of water. If you have glasses, nearby tiny water drops will attach to the glasses and fog them up, explains Alexander Henn, who developed a new coating made from tree waste.
Henn dealt with the problem by using a renewable waste product — lignin (木质素) a combination made from smaller building blocks. Woody plants contain lots of lignin, which keeps them hard and strong. “Here in Finland, we have a lot of trees. Everyone knows that you can build with the wood, or you can make paper or cloth from it, but most of those processes don’t use a tree’s lignin, which ends up as a waste product,” Henn says.
The researchers were working with lignin nanoparticles (纳米粒子) before starting thinking about fog. To make them, the scientists put mini-lignin pieces in a specially made liquid. When they poured that liquid into water, the lignin gathered together, forming tiny groups in the water. Each one was about 100 nanometers in size. Those tiny bits were hydrophilic, which means they love water. Coating glass with water-loving lignin bits would change how its surface interacts with water. The nanoparticles wanted to hold onto the water, which would make them spread out across the glass surface. If that water spreads out enough, the small water drops will form a continuous thin layer. Although the glasses are now wet, they might not be foggy.
There was just one problem. “You could see the particles,” Henn says. So putting lignin bits on glass would make it look a bit dirty. This encouraged Henn to make the lignin particles 50 nanometers across so they would go unnoticed. “Lignin can do many different things, including being used as an incredible renewable resource. Besides, it can take in light in interesting ways,” he adds.
12. What is paragraph 2 of the text mainly about?
A. What troubles glasses wearers. B. How to keep your glasses clear.
C. Why glasses turn foggy in winter. D. How water vapor becomes water drops.
13. What can be inferred from Henn’s words in paragraph 3?
A. Lignin is a rare element in trees. B. Finland has created much wood waste.
C. Trees in Finland are used unreasonably. D. Lignin’s role is often ignored in Finland.
14 How did lignin help rid glasses of fog?
A. By dividing water drops into nanoparticles.
B. By forming a thin layer of water on the glass.
C. By stopping water vapor from becoming water.
D. By taking in water and keeping the glasses dry.
15. What is Henn’s solution to the disadvantage of the lignin coating?
A. Creating recyclable lignin. B. Making smaller lignin bits.
C. Applying lignin in wider areas. D. Exploring ways to clean eyeglasses.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Every day, we face a series of opportunities to do the right thing. Sometimes we seize(抓住) those moments; other times, we don’t. ____16____ And what drives some people to take the moral high ground?
Jessie Sun interviewed 952 people about the motivations(动机) for moral behavior and the changes they wished to make in their lives in order to become more morally good.
When we think about morals we often think about making “personal sacrifices(牺牲)” for the greater good. In Sun’s study, she found that nearly half of the participants said they were most encouraged to become more moral for themselves. ____17____ And fewer participants said that they most wanted to benefit friends and people in general.
Moreover, many people believe that acting more morally—for example, being more thoughtful, more open-minded—would increase their own well-being. The more they believed that their moral change would have positive results for themselves, the more they reported being encouraged to make that change. ____18____ That was the most surprising finding in the study.
____19____ Interestingly, participants generally expected possible harms to themselves and others if they were honest. You can imagine that some people regularly tell white lies to save other people’s feelings, and they believe it would be hurtful if they were honest.
Researchers also asked people about the things they’d like to improve about themselves. If they’re extremely shy, they usually want to become more comfortable in social situations. But if they aren’t especially honest or thoughtful, they usually won’t improve those aspects of their lives on purpose. ____20____
A. How can we become more moral?
B. So, why do we make these choices?
C. Being moral just isn’t what most people consider first.
D. Being moral means different things to different people.
E. But people see some disadvantages of being moral, too.
F. In short, many people want to become more moral for their own benefits.
G. Sixteen percent said that they most wanted to become more moral for their family.

第二节 满分10分
62. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Jason had just started at a new secondary school and he was not having a good time. Math was too fast, and although he loved English, the kids just messed around and the teacher couldn’t control the classroom. Plus, there was a bully (仗势欺人者) called Nathan, who was always giving him a hard time.
When Jason got home, his dad could see there was a problem. “What’s up, Jason?” Dad asked. “Nothing,” said Jason, and went to his room. That evening, he tried to do his homework but he was so angry that he couldn’t concentrate.
Then, there was a knock on the door and Dad called out, “Jason, how’s it going? You want help with your homework?” “No … I’m fine … thanks,” came the grumpy(脾气坏的)response. “You wanna talk about anything?” Dad tried again. Finally, Jason opened the door and Dad came in.
“I don’t like the new school, Dad,” he said finally. “I miss my friends. The kids mess around and this kid, Nathan, keeps picking on me.”
“I see,” said Dad. “Well,” he continued, “what do we do when we have a problem? We face it. We face it and find a solution.”
“How?” replied Jason. “I don’t want to tell the teacher because I’ll get called a snitch(告密者)and I think it’ll make things worse.”
His dad thought for a time and said, “Well, I guess you need to fix it more directly.”
“What am I supposed to do? Punch(拳打)him?” Jason said. Dad laughed. “Well, no, but, we’ve talked about conflict resolution before. You can approach him, try and talk to him and ask him what his problem is. Maybe he’s going through a hard time and acting on his problems in the wrong way.”
“I don’t think that’ll work,” Jason replied, still, grumpy.
“Well, maybe not, but then, responding in anger might not work either. You could give this way a try,” replied Dad. “At least then you’d know you’d tried to fix the problem yourself.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
The next day at school, when Nathan started giving Jason a hard time again, Jason thought about what his dad had said. Suppressing (抑制) his anger, he took a deep breath and said calmly, “Nathan, I wonder if there’s been a misunderstanding between us. I think we need to talk about it.” Nathan shrugged his shoulders and an ironic smile leaked from the corners of his mouth. “I just simply dislike you,” he said, raising his voice. However, Jason remained calm. “I put up with your behavior not because I’m afraid of you, but because I think you might be dealing with something difficult. Maybe you bully others to cope with your own pain. Perhaps you can talk to me about it.”
Nathan looked surprised, he wasn’t expecting this, and what he did next surprised Jason too.

A. To adopt the three methods.

【答案】4. D 5. A 6. B 7. B

Henn dealt with the problem by using a renewable waste product — lignin (木质素), a combination made from smaller building blocks.
14. How did lignin help rid glasses of fog?
【答案】12. C 13. D 14. B 15. B

【12题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段“When you enter a house from the extremely cold outdoors, the warm air around you cools. This causes some of the water vapor in the air to turn into small drops of water. If you have glasses, nearby tiny water drops will attach to the glasses and fog them up, explains Alexander Henn, who developed a new coating made from tree waste. (当你从极冷的室外进入一所房子时,你周围的热空气会变冷。这使得空气中的一些水蒸气变成了小水滴。Alexander Henn解释说,如果你有眼镜,附近的小水滴就会附着在眼镜上,使它们起雾。他开发了一种用树木废料制成的新涂层)”可知,本段主要解释了眼镜在冬天起雾的原因。故选C项。
【13题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中Henn所说的话“Here in Finland, we have a lot of trees. Everyone knows that you can build with the wood, or you can make paper or cloth from it, but most of those processes don’t use a tree’s lignin, which ends up as a waste product (在芬兰,我们有很多树。每个人都知道你可以用木材来建造,或者你可以用它来造纸或布料,但大多数这些过程都不使用树木的木质素,它最终成为废物)”可知,芬兰人知道使用木材,但是都没有充分利用木质素。由此可推知,Henn认为在芬兰木质素的功能被大家所忽视。故选D项。
【14题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中“Coating glass with water-loving lignin bits would change how its surface interacts with water. The nanoparticles wanted to hold onto the water, which would make them spread out across the glass surface. If that water spreads out enough, the small water drops will form a continuous thin layer. Although the glasses are now wet, they might not be foggy. (在玻璃表面涂上亲水木质素会改变其表面与水的相互作用。纳米粒子想要抓住水,这将使它们在玻璃表面扩散。如果水足够分散,小水滴就会形成连续的薄层。虽然眼镜现在是湿的,但它们可能不会有雾)”可知,木质素通过在眼镜上形成一层薄薄的水层来帮助眼镜除去雾。故选B项。
【15题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中“Each one was about 100 nanometers in size. (每一个大约有100纳米大小)”和最后一段中“So putting lignin bits on glass would make it look a bit dirty. This encouraged Henn to make the lignin particles 50 nanometers across so they would go unnoticed. (所以把木质素放在眼镜上会让它看起来有点脏。这促使Henn将木质素颗粒制作成50纳米大小,这样它们就不会被注意到)”可知,对于木质素涂层的缺点,Henn的解决方案是制造更小的木质素颗粒。故选B项。
When we think about morals, we often think about making “personal sacrifices(牺牲)” for the greater good.

【答案】范文
Beyond the Body: The True Power of Sport
The true power of sport extends far beyond physical benefit — it fundamentally transforms our mindset. As an average table tennis player, I learned this through my struggle with competitive anxiety.
My breakthrough came when my coach advised focusing on appreciating opponents’ skills rather than fearing defeat. This shifted my perspective completely, turning stressful matches into opportunities for learning and mutual respect.
This approach taught me to value process over outcome, seeing each loss as a lesson rather than a failure. This growth mindset, cultivated through sport, has proven invaluable in my academic studies and personal relationships.

第二节 满分10分
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;

Nathan looked surprised, he wasn’t expecting this, and what he did next surprised Jason too. He lowered his head and was silent for a moment. Then, he murmured, “I don’t know why I’m so angry all the time. Struggling with low grades and feeling ignored by everyone, I thought acting like a bully was the only way to handle my frustration.” Jason gently patted Nathan’s back and said, “I understand, but there are better ways to cope. We can study together and improve your grades. And if you ever feel down, you can talk to me.” Nathan nodded slowly. From then on, the two boys became study partners, and their friendship grew stronger day by day.
