根据第一段中“Fly-in programs offer a unique opportunity for prospective students to experience campus life firsthand. These programs, typically sponsored by the institution, are designed for students from minority backgrounds who may not be able to afford a visit to campus on their own.(Fly-in项目为未来的学生提供了一个亲身体验校园生活的独特机会。这些项目通常由机构赞助,旨在为那些可能无法自己负担参观校园费用的少数族裔背景的学生提供机会)”可知,Fly-in项目通常由机构赞助,主要目的是为那些可能无法自己负担参观校园费用的少数族裔背景的学生提供一个提前体验校园生活的机会。故B项“To offer students financial aid to experience campus life.(为学生提供经济援助以体验校园生活)”正确。 根据第一张表格中“Submit before the deadline! (Last-minute packing leads to forgotten items.)(在截止日期前提交!最后一刻打包会导致忘记物品)”可知,建议申请者避免在最后一刻提交申请,以免遗漏重要信息或物品。故选C项。 【3题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二张表格中“Columbia University; September 4-6, 2025,June 25(哥伦比亚大学;2025年9月4-6日,6月25日截止)”可知,适合申请9月初校园访问的时间应在6月25日截止日期之前,结合选项可知,A项“June 20-23(6月20-23日)”正确。故选A项。 B Each morning, the soft sound of slicing fills the air at a processing workshop in Zhangshu, Jiangxi province. Yuan Xiaoping, 69, stands by his workbench, skillfully slicing white peony root into pieces. The technique may seem effortless, but it is the result of more than 50 years of disciplined practice. Yuan is a nationally recognized inheritor (继承人) of the Zhangshu traditional Chinese medicine processing technique, a form of craftsmanship named as national intangible cultural heritage in 2018. For over 1,800 years, Zhangshu, China’s medicine capital, has perfected the art of traditional herb processing, transforming raw plants into precise medicine. This craft relies on four signature tools: sharp knives for paper-thin slicing, copper pots for controlled heating, mineral-rich local water, and secret methods passed from master to apprentice. Born into a family with a tradition in Chinese medicine, Yuan began working as an apprentice at the old Tiangitang pharmacy at the age of 16. He later studied under master craftsman Yu Shouxiang, who was renowned for his expertise in medicinal (药用的) cutting. Yuan devoted decades to mastering core skills of the craft, including some specialized methods. For him, the heart of the craft lies in two skills: cutting and processing. “Every step demands precision, but it’s the knife work that truly stands out: each slice cut to perfect thickness, almost like art. “Yuan said. “Processing is not just about preparing herbs. It demands reverence for the natural properties of medicinal herbs and the application of precise methods to unlock their medical value.” Despite modern production technologies, Yuan believes many essential steps remain dependent on experience. “Machines can cut, but they can’t read the color, smell or texture of herbs,” Yuan said. “Some techniques are simple in appearance, but they require years of repetition to do well.” 4. What can be learned about the technique? A. It features simplicity B. It is dismissed as impractical. C. It remains unchanged. D. It requires effort and accuracy. 5. What does the underlined word “reverence” (Para. 4) mean? A. Awe. B. Love. C. Talent. D. Blame. 6. Which of the following can best describe Yuan? A. Disciplined and energetic. B. Committed and highly-skilled. C. Hardworking and friendly. D. Forward-thinking and devoted. 7. What does Yuan’s story mainly show? A. Look before you leap. B. Honesty is the best policy. C. Practice makes perfect. D. Strike while the iron is hot. 【答案】4. D 5. A 6. B 7. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章讲述了国家级非物质文化遗产樟树中药炮制技艺传承人袁小平的工作日常、学艺经历及对技艺的理解,并介绍了樟树中药炮制技艺的特点与价值。 【4题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“The technique may seem effortless, but it is the result of more than 50 years of disciplined practice.(这套动作看似轻松自如,却是他50多年刻苦练习的成果。)”和第四段““Every step demands precision, but it’s the knife work that truly stands out: each slice cut to perfect thickness, almost like art. “Yuan said. (“每一步都讲究精准,但切片手艺最见真章——每一片都要切到厚度完美,几乎像艺术品一样。”袁小平说)”可知,樟树中药炮制技艺需要从业者付出长期刻苦的努力,且每一步都要求精准。故选D。 【5题详解】 词义猜测题。根据划线单词所在语境“Processing is not just about preparing herbs. It demands reverence for the natural properties of medicinal herbs and the application of precise methods to unlock their medical value.(炮制不只是简单处理药材。它需要……药材的天然特性,还要用精准的方法激发其药用价值。)”可知,炮制药材不仅是处理药材,还需要对药材的天然特性持有某种态度,才能通过精准方法激发其药用价值。结合语境,这种态度应是尊重、敬畏之情。选项A“Awe”意为“敬畏”,与此相符。故选A。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“The technique may seem effortless, but it is the result of more than 50 years of disciplined practice.(这套动作看似轻松自如,却是他50多年刻苦练习的成果。)”以及第三段“Yuan devoted decades to mastering core skills of the craft, including some specialized methods. For him, the heart of the craft lies in two skills: cutting and processing.(数十年来,袁小平潜心钻研这项技艺的核心技法,其中还包括一些特殊炮制方法。在他看来,这项技艺的核心在于两大工序:切片与炮制。)”可知,袁小平50多年刻苦练习技艺、数十年钻研核心技法,体现他对中药炮制技艺的专注投入;而他能娴熟切片、掌握独门技法,则体现了他技艺精湛。故选B。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“The technique may seem effortless, but it is the result of more than 50 years of disciplined practice.(这套动作看似轻松自如,却是他50多年刻苦练习的成果。)”和第五段袁小平所说的话““Some techniques are simple in appearance, but they require years of repetition to do well. (有些技法看起来简单,却需要多年反复练习才能做好。)”可知,袁小平的技艺并非天生,而是靠50多年刻苦练习、多年反复打磨才达成,体现长期练习造就精湛技艺。故选C。 C Though brown pelicans (鹈鹕) have bounced back from the endangered species list, they have been suffering from the second life-threatening event in recent years. Large numbers of the species are showing up sick and injured along California’s coastline, and experts are racing to find out why. A volunteer feeds sick brown pelicans recovering at the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center of Orange County. The center is currently caring for over 100 brown pelicans which have been discovered starving or being sick in recent weeks. During the starvation event in 2022, nearly 800 brown pelicans were admitted to wildlife nursing centers and received considerate care, with only 394 eventually returned to the wild, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The cause of the current crisis remains largely unknown, but some interesting guesses are flying about. At one point, the birds were checked for the flu that has newly infected so many animals this year. Luckily, none of the sick pelicans tested positive for it. “We don’t have any indication that it's directly human-caused, either.” says Henkel, a senior environmental scientist. “It’s not a human action of any kind that we’re aware of.” One theory is that powerful winds may be to blame, as low visibility could be preventing the pelicans from diving well enough to catch their meals, and hungry birds often get trapped in fishing lines. The evidence pointing to starvation as the cause may also better explain why the pelicans come in with injuries. Those involved in brown pelican recovery efforts note that while you should keep your distance from them, humans can be of assistance by immediately reporting an animal sighting to a local rescue center and keeping an eye on it until help arrives. Such an urgent response can often mean the difference between life and death for a pelican that needs life-saving care. If you are an expert, proper treatment for the affected pelicans may involve offering them lots of nutrition and water, or caring for wounds and giving them relevant medication in the center. 8. What can we learn about brown pelicans? A. They have recently been classified as endangered. B. A steep decline in their numbers is attributed to physical harm. C. They have experienced long-term hunger. D. Their population has shown modest signs of recovery. 9. Why does the author list data in paragraph 2? A. To prove the pelicans face severe problems. B. To highlight the mindful care for the pelicans. C. To reveal the pelicans mainly die of hunger. D. To stress volunteers' role in saving the pelicans. 10. Which of the following is a theory that may cause the pelicans’ trouble? A. They are being poisoned by polluted water. B. They are unable to hunt effectively due to bad weather conditions. C. They are losing their habitats because of coastal development. D. They are being attacked by other larger birds. 11. How should an ordinary person deal with a sick brown pelican? A. Feed food and water to it. B. Rush it to a rescue center. C. Seek timely professional help. D. Give it an immediate exam. 【答案】8. D 9. A 10. B 11. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章讨论了褐鹈鹕虽脱离濒危物种名单,仍面临生存挑战,并介绍了威胁褐鹈鹕生存的可能原因,以及公众如何帮助褐鹈鹕。 【8题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“Though brown pelicans (鹈鹕) have bounced back from the endangered species list, they have been suffering from the second life-threatening event in recent years. (虽然褐鹈鹕已经从濒危物种名单中恢复过来,但近年来它们一直遭受着第二次威胁生命的事件) ”可知,褐鹈鹕的数量有所恢复。故选D。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“The center is currently caring for over 100 brown pelicans which have been discovered starving or being sick in recent weeks. During the starvation event in 2022, nearly 800 brown pelicans were admitted to wildlife nursing centers and received considerate care, with only 394 eventually returned to the wild, according to the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. (该中心目前正在照顾100多只褐鹈鹕,这些褐鹈鹕最近几周被发现饥饿或生病。根据美国鱼类和野生动物管理局的数据,在2022年的饥饿事件中,近800只褐鹈鹕被送入野生动物护理中心,得到了周到的照顾,只有394只最终回到了野外)”可知,这些数据用来证明褐鹈鹕面临的问题很严重。故选A。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“One theory is that powerful winds may be to blame, as low visibility could be preventing the pelicans from diving well enough to catch their meals, and hungry birds often get trapped in fishing lines.(一种理论认为,强风可能是罪魁祸首,因为低能见度可能会阻止鹈鹕充分俯冲捕食,饥饿的鸟儿经常被鱼线困住。)”可知,本段提出一种理论:强风 (powerful winds) 导致能见度低 (low visibility) ,从而影响鹈鹕捕食或被鱼线困住,即由于恶劣的天气条件鹈鹕无法有效地捕猎,导致了褐鹈鹕的困境。故选B。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段 “Those involved in brown pelican recovery efforts note that while you should keep your distance from them, humans can be of assistance by immediately reporting an animal sighting to a local rescue center and keeping an eye on it until help arrives. (那些参与褐鹈鹕恢复工作的人指出,虽然你应该与它们保持距离,但人类可以通过立即向当地救援中心报告看到动物并密切关注它直到救援到来以提供帮助)”可知,普通人遇到生病的褐鹈鹕应该寻求及时的专业帮助。故选C。 D For some readers, a dictionary opens up a world. Dictionaries contain multiple pleasures, such as settling word-game wars by turning actual pages. For the rest, a dictionary is either outdated or strictly online. In 2012, Encyclopaedia Britannica stopped printing new editions, going digital-only. In his book, Unabridged: The Thrill of (and Threat to) the Modern Dictionary, American journalist Stefan Fatsis writes of the shift brought about by our decade-old dependence on search engines: “Definitions, good and bad, were a click away, and most people didn’t care or couldn’t tell which was which: expert research, scraped data, zombie (僵尸) websites, whatever popped up in a search.” When I was a child, I loved dictionaries, and so did every sensible parent in Calcutta. If your child was literate, one of the 20 volumes of the Oxford English Dictionary or an illustratedCollins was the surest way to keep them happily occupied, setting them off on hunts for lost or forgotten words. Fatsis sees dictionary-making as “a human endeavor (努力) stretching back to the third millennium BCE”. From the Akkadians to Sanskrit scholars, what dictionary makers hoped to do went far beyond the already tricky task of writing definitions: their job was to explain and track “the endless shifts in language”. Change is inevitable though Fatsis also asks what we lose in the name of convenience. He writes, “the job of the dictionary was firmly established… By the time I finished this book, it wasn’t clear how much longer flesh-bone-and-blood lexicographers would be needed to document the march of the English language. Between traditional search engines and AI-enhanced search through LLMs (large language models), the way we look up words, and find meaning in language itself, has changed.” We can’t claim that humanity still needs physical dictionaries. Like encyclopedias and atlases, the best of them have long moved online. Indeed, the starting points of most search engines were the encyclopedias and dictionaries compiled (编纂) by experts. But I plan to hold on to my beloved, dog-eared physical dictionaries — such priceless time capsules, one of the last paradises of freedom from the endless scroll of digital content. 12. What has reduced people’s reliance on physical dictionaries? A. The decline of the print media. B. The convenience of online lookup. C. People’s indifference to accuracy. D. Publishers’ insistence on going digital. 13. What can we infer about the future of real-life lexicographers? A. Their workload will double. B. They will remain in demand. C. Their existence is threatened. D. They need to upgrade their skills. 14. Why does the author stick to physical dictionaries? A. They boost long-term memory. B. They last longer than digital files. C. They offer an escape from screens. D. They give more authoritative definitions. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. A Word in Favor of Dictionaries B. My Love for Looking up Words C. A Best-seller on the Theme of Change D. Human Endeavors in Dictionary-making 【答案】12. B 13. C 14. C 15. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论了数字时代纸质词典的使用减少现象,分析了其原因,探讨了词典编纂者的未来,并表达了作者对纸质词典的珍视。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“In his book, Unabridged: The Thrill of (and Threat to) the Modern Dictionary, American journalist Stefan Fatsis writes of the shift brought about by our decade-old dependence on search engines: “Definitions, good and bad, were a click away, and most people didn’t care or couldn’t tell which was which: expert research, scraped data, zombie (僵尸) websites, whatever popped up in a search.”(美国记者斯蒂芬·法特西斯在其著作《未删节本:现代词典的诱惑与威胁》中,记述了人类对搜索引擎长达十年的依赖所带来的变革:“无论是精良的释义还是粗劣的诠释,皆可一键获取。绝大多数人对此毫不在意,抑或无力辨别——专业研究、抓取数据、僵尸网站,凡是搜索所得皆照单全收。”)”可知,网络搜索的便捷性使人们只需点击一下就能获取定义,从而减少了对纸质词典的依赖。故选B项。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中“By the time I finished this book, it wasn’t clear how much longer flesh-bone-and-blood lexicographers would be needed to document the march of the English language.(等我写完这本书时,已无法确定,人们还需要有血有肉的词典编纂者多久,来记录英语语言的发展进程)”可知,作者不确定现实中的词典编纂者还能被需要多久,由此可推知,现实生活中的词典编纂者的生存受到了威胁。故选C项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“But I plan to hold on to my beloved, dog-eared physical dictionaries — such priceless time capsules, one of the last paradises of freedom from the endless scroll of digital content.(但我仍打算保留我那本心爱的、书页卷角的纸质词典——它就像无比珍贵的时光胶囊,也是摆脱无休无止滚动的数字内容后,仅存的自由天堂之一)”可知,作者坚持使用纸质词典是因为它们提供了从屏幕中解脱出来的机会,是摆脱无休无止滚动的数字内容的天堂。故选C项。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是最后一段“We can’t claim that humanity still needs physical dictionaries. Like encyclopedias and atlases, the best of them have long moved online. Indeed, the starting points of most search engines were the encyclopedias and dictionaries compiled (编纂) by experts. But I plan to hold on to my beloved, dog-eared physical dictionaries — such priceless time capsules, one of the last paradises of freedom from the endless scroll of digital content.(我们无法断言人类仍需要实体词典。 故选A项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Knowing another language opens doors for kids and adults alike. But most educators agree that childhood is the ideal time for language learning. If you want your children to be bilingual (双语的), here is where to start. You should be flexible and use the method working best for your family. Some families favor “one parent, one language”. Some take on the task of learning a second language alongside their children. ____16____ Depending on your home situation, this can require a lot of planning, effort and persistence (坚持) on your part. You’d better use all of the resources at hand. While having back-and-forth conversations with native speakers is the most effective, there are lots of other ways. ____17____ Watching a favorite show or reading an interesting book in the non-dominant (非主导的) language can make learning enjoyable. You may also find classes and schools that teach in the language you want your children to learn. ____18____ Travel is one way to engage your kid in everyday situations that are meaningful and real. Exposure to the language in its real context can significantly boost a child’s interest in and understanding of the language. But time abroad is not a requirement for real interactions. ____19____ For example, your son can use Spanish when playing with his Spanish-speaking cousins. While you can always change the language learning plan if the path you’re on isn’t working, you shouldn’t get too discouraged when things aren’t happening as quickly as you might expect. ____20____ Language learning is a progressive and long-lasting process, and breakthroughs may come in unexpected ways and at different times for each individual. A. Know there’s a lot happening under the surface. B. Provide authentic opportunities for speaking practice. C. Individuals have different levels of fluency in each language. D. Introduce TV programs, songs and books in both languages to children. E. And others use a mix of strategies to expose their kids to both languages. F. Books can be used in a way that is developmentally appropriate for children. G. As a matter of fact, they can take place with relatives speaking the language. 【答案】16. E 17. D 18. B 19. G 20. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了帮助孩子学习双语的技巧和建议。 【16题详解】 根据上文“Some take on the task of learning a second language alongside their children.(一些家庭承担起和孩子一起学习第二语言的任务)”可知,上文提到了一些家庭的做法,可知空处内容应还是在介绍家庭所选用的学习方法,故E选项“而另一些家庭采用多种策略让孩子接触两种语言”符合语境,故选E。 【17题详解】 根据上文“You’d better use all of the resources at hand. While having back-and-forth conversations with native speakers is the most effective, there are lots of other ways.(你最好利用手边所有的资源。虽然与母语人士进行来回对话是最有效的,但还有很多其他方法)”以及后文“Watching a favorite show or reading an interesting book in the non-dominant (非主导的) language can make learning enjoyable. You may also find classes and schools that teach in the language you want your children to learn.(看一个喜欢的节目或读一本有趣的非主流语言的书可以使学习变得愉快。 【18题详解】 根据后文“Travel is one way to engage your kid in everyday situations that are meaningful and real. Exposure to the language in its real context can significantly boost a child’s interest in and understanding of the language. But time abroad is not a requirement for real interactions.(旅行是让你的孩子参与到有意义和真实的日常生活中的一种方式。在真实的语境中接触语言可以极大地提高孩子对语言的兴趣和理解。但在国外的时间并不是真正互动的必要条件)”可知,空后提到旅行是让你的孩子接触有意义和真实的日常情境的一种方式,在真实的语境中接触语言可以显著提高孩子对语言的兴趣和理解。由此可知,空处内容应涉及为孩子提供真实的语言练习机会或环境。故B选项“提供真实的口语练习机会”符合语境,故选B。 【19题详解】 根据上文“Exposure to the language in its real context can significantly boost a child’s interest in and understanding of the language. But time abroad is not a requirement for real interactions.(在真实的语境中接触语言可以极大地提高孩子对语言的兴趣和理解。 【20题详解】 根据上文“While you can always change the language learning plan if the path you’re on isn’t working, you shouldn’t get too discouraged when things aren’t happening as quickly as you might expect.(如果你走的道路行不通,你可以随时改变语言学习计划,但当事情没有像你预期的那样迅速发生时,你不应该太沮丧)”以及后文“Language learning is a progressive and long-lasting process, and breakthroughs may come in unexpected ways and at different times for each individual.(语言学习是一个渐进而持久的过程,突破可能会以意想不到的方式在不同的时间到来)”可知,空前提到虽然你总是可以在当前的语言学习计划不起作用时进行调整,但当进展没有你预期中那么快时,你不应该太气馁。空后提到语言学习是一个渐进且长期的过程,突破可能以意想不到的方式在不同的时间点出现。由此可知,空处内容应是在解释为什么不应该太气馁。A选项“要知道表面下有很多事情在发生”暗示了语言学习是一个内在的深层次的过程,效果可能不会立即显现出来,与上下文衔接紧密,符合语境。故选A。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白外的最佳选项。 Years ago as a college freshman, I was sitting in the library on a beautiful ____21____ day, bored, working on a history paper. ____22____, off the page came dancing a quote by Gandhi, “In the midst of death life persists...” After those words were read again a dozen times, suddenly I was no longer ____23____. He’d just set foot into the bank, and felt the tension. “Something’s not right.” It was a sunny morning, and the 69-year-old retired painter was there to deposit a check. Normally, whenever Michael visited, he’d be greeted loudly from the tellers, with whom he loved to share his jokes. But today, none of the tellers acknowledged him. Nor did the bank’s manager, who sat at his desk with his head down and seemed to be whispering into his telephone. As Michael approached the teller windows, he noticed the three employees had similar worried looks on their faces. Michael looked to his left and noticed a man at another window with his T-shirt pulled up to partially conceal his face. “This is a robbery,”thought Michael. He heard the man say, “I don’t want to hurt anybody.” Minutes earlier, the man had passed a note to the teller demanding cash and saying he had a gun. Michael looked again and the man's shirt had dropped a bit, exposing more of his face. “I’ve seen this guy!” thought Michael. He recognized the would-be robber as someone he’d passed several times on a street corner praying for those who were in misery. Suddenly, instead of being frightened, Michael felt compassion for him, and a thought popped into his head, “Maybe I can help.” He walked over to the man, 43-year-old Eric, and calmly asked, “What’s wrong? Don’t you have a job?” Startled, Eric looked at Michael and exclaimed, “There is nothing in this town for me. Nothing!” Then, tears streamed down his face. Michael sensed the despair in the man’s voice, as if he were ready to throw his life away. It reminded him of his own struggles and how getting a second chance had once saved him, stirring a powerful urge to help. He knew the tellers were terrified, and he wanted to get Eric out of the bank. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 So he patted Eric on the shoulder and said, “Let’s go outside and talk about this.” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just then, the police appeared and shouted, “Freeze!” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 So he patted Eric’s shoulder and said softly: “Let’s go outside and talk.” Eric froze, fingers tight on the crumpled note, panic in his wide eyes. Tellers shrank back, faces pale — but Michael pulled him into a hug that felt like a safe shelter, one that chased away his fear a little. “I know what hopelessness means,” he whispered. The warmth relaxed Eric’s stiff shoulders. His lips shook, tears soaking Michael’s shirt. “I tried every job… mom’s sick… I can’t pay bills,” he choked. Just then, the police appeared and shouted, “Freeze!” Eric’s face went white, jumping back like someone shocked, wanting to run — but Michael held him. He raised one hand to show no harm, the other rubbing Eric’s back to calm him. “He’s not dangerous — this hug is enough,” Michael said firmly. He told police Eric’s hard times. They looked at each other, moving hands from guns. Eric pulled back, breath steady. Later, he turned himself in, and Michael got a social worker who’d help his mom. “That hug… made me feel cared for,” Eric said, shaky but thankful. 3. 词汇激活 行为类: ① 退缩:shrink back/draw back ② 赶走:chase away/drive away ③ 低声说:whisper/murmur 情绪类: ① 恐慌:panic/terror ② 绝望:hopelessness/despair ③ 感激:thankful/grateful 【点睛】[高分句型1] They looked at each other, moving hands from guns.(运用了现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] Later, he turned himself in, and Michael got a social worker who’d help his mom.(运用了who引导的限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 英语试题卷 考试时间:120分钟 满分:150分 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节:(共5小题;每小节1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍。 1. B Each morning, the soft sound of slicing fills the air at a processing workshop in Zhangshu, Jiangxi province. 5. C Though brown pelicans (鹈鹕) have bounced back from the endangered species list, they have been suffering from the second life-threatening event in recent years. D For some readers, a dictionary opens up a world. Dictionaries contain multiple pleasures, such as settling word-game wars by turning actual pages. For the rest, a dictionary is either outdated or strictly online. In 2012, Encyclopaedia Britannica stopped printing new editions, going digital-only. In his book, Unabridged: The Thrill of (and Threat to) the Modern Dictionary, American journalist Stefan Fatsis writes of the shift brought about by our decade-old dependence on search engines: “Definitions, good and bad, were a click away, and most people didn’t care or couldn’t tell which was which: expert research, scraped data, zombie (僵尸) websites, whatever popped up in a search.” When I was a child I loved dictionaries, and so did every sensible parent in Calcutta. Change is inevitable, though Fatsis also asks what we lose in the name of convenience. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 So he patted Eric on the shoulder and said, “Let’s go outside and talk about this.” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just then, the police appeared and shouted, “Freeze!” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
