Dear Editor,
I'm Li Hua,a Senior Two student.I'm writing to express my strong support for offering a weekly campus
interest development class,as it serves as a valuable supplement to our regular academic curriculum.
Firstly,it effectively eases academic stress. After devoting long hours to math, languages and sciences,we
can relax our minds through activities like painting, music or calligraphy, which helps us return to study with
more energy.Secondly,it fosters practical and creative skills.Unlike textbook-focused classes, these courses
teach us things like 3D modeling, public speaking or traditional handicrafts-skills that enhance our versatility
and prepare us for future challenges. Finally,it promotes social bonds.Students from different classes gather to
pursue shared hobbies, not only making new friends but also learning to cooperate in group projects, like staging
a short play or designing a poster.
I believe such classes will make our campus life more colorful and contribute to our all-round development.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

A possible version:
When we showed the sword to an expert later, she was clearly surprised. She put on gloves, took the
sword cautiously, and said it was from hundreds of years ago-rare and worth preserving. She suggested
donating it to the local museum so it could be cared for and shown to others.I instantly frowned, stepping back
a little. My hands tightened into fists-I'd dug it out of the lake myself, and it felt like my special treasure. It
was cool to hold, with that rough, rusty surface that felt like a secret only I knew. Why did I have to give it
away?Dad noticed my frown, knelt down, and patted my shoulder,"It's not about letting it go.It's about
letting its story be told-everyone should have the chance to see something special, not just us.
We finally decided to give the sword to the local museum. When we arrived,a staff member took the
sword gently and lavished thanks on us,"Thank you for sharing this treasure!Your discovery will help more
people learn about its history."Several days later,we dropped in at the museum again. In a glass case quietly lay
my sword-still rough and rusty, but was now surrounded by a large crowd of people stopping to admire it.
They were amazed at its history and guessed who the generous discoverer was.Not until that moment did I
realize that it wasn't just an ancient treasure;it was something everyone could marvel at.I was so proud to be
part of its story and make this hidden chapter of history unfold before a wider audience.

推断。
26.B根据第一段中“her genius for math and science was evident early'”、以及第二,三段中所述Katherine 14

28.D根据第二段关键句“,,,it is ultimately the fundamental demand for time-saving solutions in a nonstop

G选项“The colour of tableware like plates, shapes how guests[eel about the food.”
D选项“That initial visual

A选项“Dark plates have more varied effects.”
C选项“The wrong bright shade makes food look artificial..”
“bright plates..,·can go wrong”,是“亮色餐具出错”的具体例子,与后文共同构成其风险,逻辑完整。

(“hero”加“es”变复数),与“love”(爱情)、“local life'”(当地生活)并列作“of”的宾语。
“easy

W:Oh,there's no need for that. There's a big garage attached to the house through a door in the kitchen.(15)
M:Oh,that's perfect.(16)

M:Hello, everyone. Our school has decided on a variety of environmental activities.Let me give you an idea
about some of these activities.
Firstly,Mondays and Tuesdays will be walk-to-school days. That means everyone will go to school on
foot.Anyone living far away may use public transport, but they must walk at least half a kilometer.(17)In
this way,the school not only encourages students and teachers to exercise, but it also helps to reduce air
pollution.
Secondly,on Wednesdays and Thursdays, all classes take turns looking after our school garden. After
school finishes on Fridays, you will have the opportunity to attend lectures about the dangers our environment

Katherine Johnson,a hero to American space travel and exploration, was born on Aug.
26,1918,in White Sulphur Springs,West Virginia. Her genius for math and science was
evident early and her parents arranged for her and her siblings'education to be a priority.
Katherine graduated from high school at only 14 and attended West Virginia State
College,a historically Black college. When West Virginia decided to quietly integrate its
graduate schools in 1939,West Virginia State's president,Dr.John W.Davis,selected her
and two men to be the first Black students offered spots at the state's flagship school,West
Virginia University.
In 1953,in a time of racial separation, she started a job as a human "computer"with the
National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics(NACA),which later developed into NASA.
She worked in the West Area Computing section at Langley Research Center on a team headed
by fellow West Virginian Dorothy Vaughan. This turned into a permanent position and set the
course for Katherine's role in space exploration.

In recent years, prefabricated dishes have grown rapidly popular in China. These are pre-
cooked, seasoned, and packaged meals that require little to no preparation, offering a quick
and convenient dining option without sacrificing major taste or nutrition.
As people grow increasingly busier, time for cooking has become a rare resource.
Prefabricated dishes address this pressing need by offering a significant reduction in meal
preparation time.Other factors also contribute to their popularity-such as the convenience of
e-commerce and delivery services that allow easy online ordering and quick home delivery, and
the role of modern technology like vacuum and adjusted atmosphere packaging slows food
spoilage.Along with precise temperature control and bacteria-killing techniques that ensure
safety and quality,it is ultimately the fundamental demand for time-saving solutions in a
nonstop world that serves as the primary driving force for their widespread acceptance.
However, the rise of prefabricated dishes is not without concerns.Health issues remain a
primary consideration,as some products contain additives and preservatives, which could pose
risks if consumed excessively.Additionally, when compared to traditional freshly prepared
meals, they often fall short in keeping the original flavor and nutritional value. In response,
governments have carried out stricter safety standards and enhanced quality control measures.
Meanwhile, certain manufacturers are actively exploring the use of natural ingredients and
reducing additives to improve nutritional composition.
As a growing trend in China's food industry, prefabricated dishes provide undeniable
convenience, yet consumers are advised to remain cautious about their dietary choices. The
future of the industry relies on balanced development-where convenience, safety, and health
can coexist.

In a Tokyo workshop,72-year-old potter Hiroshi Tanaka sits bent over a spinning wheel,
his hands shaping a lump of clay()into a teacup.Outside,young people line up,phones
in hand, waiting to take photos of the process. This scene, once rare,is now common across
Asia and Europe:traditional crafts-pottery,weaving,hand-dyed textiles-are enjoying a
surprising revival, even as digital tools control daily life.
Why are people drawn to these slow,labor-intensive practices?Psychologists point to
"digital fatigue":the constant flow of emails, messages, and social media updates leaves many
people desiring activities that demand focus.Unlike scrolling through a screen, crafting
requires patience.A single ceramic bowl might take days to mold, fire, and glaze."It's the
opposite of instant satisfaction,"says London-based craft historian Elena Ruiz."That's
exactly its appeal..”
This revival isn't just aboutnostalgia ()Modern craftsmen are combining old
techniques with new ideas.In Florence,Italy,a third-generation weaver uses 17th-century
weaving machines to create fabrics for luxury brands, but adds patterns inspired by street art.
In Seoul,a paper-maker integrates recycled coffee grounds into traditional hanji paper,
making it both eco-friendly and trendy. These innovations keep crafts relevant, attracting
younger consumers who value uniqueness over mass production.
Critics argue that the trend risks turning crafts into mere "artistic products".They worry
线
that workshops become photo spots rather than places of learning, and that the pressure to
create "Instagram-worthy"pieces weakens the depth of traditional skills.Yet supporters argue
that any attention is good."If a teenager buys a hand-woven scarf because it looks cool online,
they might later ask about how it was made, notes Ruiz."Interest is the first step toward
preservation.”
For Tanaka, the newfound popularity is a chance to pass on his knowledge."My father
thought pottery would die with machines,he says, wiping clay from his apron."But young
people now want to learn. They see it's not just about making things-it's about making
meaning.”
32.Why does the author mention"digital fatigue"in Paragraph 2?
A.To criticize the overuse of digital tools in daily life
B.To stress people are less interested in social media.
C.To explain why people desire focus-requiring activities.
D.To prove crafts require more patience than digital activities.
33.What do examples in Paragraph 3 show?
A.Innovation is more important than tradition.
B.Traditional crafts can adapt to modern tastes.
C.Young consumers prefer eco-friendly products.
D.Luxury brands depend on traditional techniques.
34.Which following statement would both critics and supporters most likely agree on?
A.Traditional crafts possess values that need to be preserved.
B.Innovation is in conflict with maintaining traditional skills
C.Young consumers alone will determine the future of craftsmanship.
D.Digital exposure unavoidably harms the uniqueness of traditional crafts.
35.What's the main idea of the passage?
A.Young people are responsible for preserving traditional skills.
B.Traditional crafts are replacing digital products in modern life.
C.Modern innovations are ruining the authenticity of traditional crafts.
D.The revival of traditional crafts reflects a desire for meaning in a digital world.

选项。
After hours of cooking and arranging the table, your goal is simple:to create an
unforgettable dining experience for your guests. But success isn't just about fresh ingredients
or cooking skills.36
Colour's influence starts with the first glance.37 The brain processes colour
information and links it to taste, making us judge the same dish as delicious, average,or
unappealing. So,making the food visually attractive is key,as guests will assume it tastes as
good as it looks.
For picky eaters, bowl colour is crucial.38 They often find meals in red or blue
bowls saltier than in white ones.A red bowl can also make them hesitant to try new dishes,
and they might even refuse food if the bowl's colour doesn't suit them.Choosing the right
tableware colour is top priority here.
White plates are usually a safe choice, but avoid them with pale foods, which will look
tasteless. They work well with vibrant dishes like salads or roasted meats, making the food's
colours stand out.For desserts, white plates enhance sweetness and flavor intensity.
39 Black plates, for example, can make food seem saltier and larger in portion. This
means dark tableware needs careful consideration of the dish's flavor and portion size.On the
contrary, bright plates add creativity and highlight less colorful foods but can go wrong.
40 Matching the plate's colour too closely to the food can make portions seem smaller,as
everything blends.
Understanding colour psychology lets you turn a simple meal into a memorable
experience-all through smart tableware choices. It allows you to guide your guests'
perceptions subtly, ensuring that each dish not only tastes wonderful but also feels perfectly
suited to the moment.
A.Dark plates have more varied effects.
B.They prefer simple tableware without any patterns.
C.The wrong bright shade makes food look artificial.
D.That initial visual impression brings about a chain reaction.
E.Using the wrong colour can ruin the overall dining mood.
F.Their reactions to tableware colours are often more sensitive.
G.The colour of tableware like plates, shapes how guests feel about the food.

Every summer,my parents and I go to stay in a small wooden house by a lake, which is
not far from our home.I love building sandcastles, finding small rocks to skip across the water
and seeing how many times they can bounce.
On July 15 this year,I was playing on the beach when Dad called me to return home, but
I wanted to cool off a little first-so I walked into the water. It felt soft on my skin and cool,
which was nice because the sun was so hot.Dad kept telling me to hurry up-he wanted to
watch the World Cup final. But I liked to take my time,so I didn't listen to him.
I got down on my hands and knees and crawled along the lake bottom.I was looking for
rocks to skip when my hand and knee touched something long and hard under the sand.I
pulled it out.It wasn't like the sticks or rocks I usually find. One end was sharp, and the other
had a handle.I held it up to the sky,put my other hand on my hip,and shouted,"Dad,I
found a sword!”
I felt like a brave warrior, but Dad laughed and said I looked like a little pirate with a toy
sword. The sword was rough, and my hands got covered in sticky brown rust. Then the sword
started to bend.Dad ran over through the water and asked to hold it.I didn't want to give it
up-it was my sword! But I let him take it in the end.
I ran to Mom,Grandma and some other family members. They were all sitting outside
drinking coffee and eating cookies.I yelled,“】found a sword!I found a sword!”Later,Dad
took the sword to show our neighbors.Their family have lived in the village for over 100
years. They said it looked like an old sword from a long time ago,the kind ancient warriors
used. And because of all this,Dad never got to watch the World Cup final.

When we showed the sword to an expert later, she was clearly surprised.
We finally decided to give the sword to the local museum.
