The game industry was surprised when Chinese developer Game Science put out the first trailer (预告) on Aug 20 for Black Myth: Zhong Kui. This is the second game in the Black Myth series after the big hit Black Myth: Wukong. The trailer quickly became 45 on social media and was a hot topic for Chinese and international players. Although the game is still in early development, it has already 46 players to look into its main character Zhong Kui—a figure from Chinese folklore (民间传说) known as the “ghost-catching god”.
In Chinese folklore, Zhong Kui is often shown as a strong-looking man. Legend has it that he was a scholar in the Tang Dynasty (618—907). After failing the exam due to his scary looks, he killed himself and was later chosen as “the king of ghosts” in the underworld. Thanks to folklore and tradition, Zhong Kui’s image as a ghost hunter is well-known in Chinese culture. People often hang his picture in their homes to 47 evil (邪恶).
While Zhong Kui’s story might not be as popular as that of Wukong, it offers much room for 48 . Social science researcher Wang Xiaoyong told Guangming Net that compared with Wukong’s rebellion (反叛), Zhong Kui is a symbol of order and justice (正义). He has a (n) 49 life in the past and the ability to move between the worlds of the living and the dead. “Such a character makes a game’s story more interesting,” said Wang. The game is expected to explore areas different from those in Black Myth: Wukong, likely recreating the Tang Dynasty’s capital of Chang’an. 50 , it also wants to show some amazing underworld scenes. “We want to free our hands and try new things,” said Game Science’s CEO, Feng Ji, on Sina Weibo.

Should Schools Have a Four-Day Week?
There is already a trend (趋势) towards a four-day work week. Now, the debate over the length of the school week has received much attention. Some argue that r 51 the school week to four days could offer many benefits for both students and teachers, while others believe it could introduce new c 52 . What do you think? Should schools change to a four-day week?
Yes—longer weekends would be f 53
Sometimes, a two-day weekend doesn’t feel long enough. If schools had weekends that lasted three days, pupils and teachers could take part in activities with more energy. There would also be more time to rest. If pupils are well rested when they come into class, they will find it easier to f 54 in class and understand the teachers better. School isn’t just stressful for pupils, either. A survey has found that 71% of teachers feel stressed at least once a week because of their h 55 workloads (工作量). An extra day off would give them more time to relax with friends and family.
No—it would mean more pressureA four-day school week sounds nice. However, for a four-day week to work, the days in school would have to be longer so that pupils s 56 get the same amount of education. Pupils would need to wake up even earlier than they already do, possibly making them tired and less able to study well. And what about homework? The extra day off could end up being used to catch up on it, which means it would just feel like a 57 day of school—what’s the point? Besides, lots of parents work five days a week. If schools had four-day weeks, parents would have to find someone to look after their children on that day off, which could be a difficult situation.
【答案】51.(r)educing 52.(c)hallenges 53.(f)un/(f)antastic 54.(f)ocus 55.(h)eavy 56.(s)till 57.(a)nother

D. Answer the questions (根据短文内容回答问题) (12 分)
The sweet smell of osmanthus flowers has stayed in my childhood memories for years. Every autumn, when the osmanthus tree in our backyard bloomed, its gentle fragrance (香味) would fill the whole house. Just one deep breath would make me feel warm inside.
My mother loved these tiny yellow flowers deeply. She often stood under the tree, watching the blooms carefully. She was always worried that strong winds or sudden rains would blow the flowers away. So, once the flowers were fully open, our family had a special little activity: shaking the osmanthus tree. My brother and I would run over to help Mom hold the trunk and shake it softly. Right away, the flowers fell like golden rain—covering our hair, clothes and the ground. We laughed and jumped in this “flower rain”, letting the sweet petals stick to our hands. That moment, full of laughter and fragrance, became one of my most precious childhood memories.
After we collected the fallen flowers, Mom got busy. First, she picked out the leaves and dirt from the flowers carefully. Then she spread the flowers on a bamboo mat to dry in the sun. When they were completely dry, she stored them in a small glass box. Later, Mom used these dried flowers to make delicious things: soft osmanthus cake with a sweet aftertaste, and warm tea with a faint fragrance. To me, that smell was never just from the flowers—it carried Mom’s love and the joy of family time.
Now I live in a big city far from my hometown. Every autumn, I still see osmanthus trees in parks here, and their smell is just as sweet as I remember. But whenever I smell that fragrance, my mind always goes back to our old yard, Mom’s smile, and the “flower rain” we shared. Once, I picked some osmanthus flowers from the city park and brought them to Mom. She smelled them slowly and said, “ ”.
At that moment, I finally understood. What I really miss isn’t just the smell of osmanthus flowers. It’s the memories tied to that smell—the laughter with my family, Mom’s careful hands, and the simple happiness of my childhood. That special fragrance will always be a key to my heart, reminding me of where my home is.
58.The writer’s mother loved the yellow flowers deeply, didn’t she?
59.What did the writer’s family do when the osmanthus flowers were fully open?
60.Why was the writer’s mother worried about the osmanthus flowers?
61.How did the writer and his brother help their mother when shaking the osmanthus tree?
62.What might the writer’s mother say to the writer in the story? (no more than 15 words)
63.In your opinion, why does the special fragrance of osmanthus flowers become “a key to the writer’s heart”? Explain with your own understanding.
【答案】58.Yes, she did. 59.They shook the osmanthus tree. 60.Because she was worried that strong winds or sudden rains would blow the flowers away. 61.They helped their mother hold the trunk and shake it softly. 62.These flowers are nice, but the ones from our old yard were sweeter. 63.Because it’s tied to precious memories of family love, laughter, and childhood happiness, unlocking feelings of home and warmth.
58.根据第一段“My mother loved these tiny yellow flowers deeply.”可知,作者的母亲确实深爱着这些黄色的桂花。这是一个反义疑问句,前面是肯定陈述,后面用否定形式提问,回答需与事实一致。故填Yes, she did.
59.根据第二段“So, once the flowers were fully open, our family had a special little activity: shaking the osmanthus tree.”可知,当桂花盛开时,他们家会进行一项特殊的活动——摇桂花树。故填They shook the osmanthus tree.
60.根据第二段“She was always worried that strong winds or sudden rains would blow the flowers away.”可知,母亲担心的是大风或急雨会把桂花吹落。故填Because she was worried that strong winds or sudden rains would blow the flowers away.
61.根据第二段“My brother and I would run over to help Mom hold the trunk and shake it softly.”可知,他们是通过帮妈妈扶住树干并轻轻摇晃来提供帮助的。故填They helped their mother hold the trunk and shake it softly.
These flowers are nice, but the ones from our old yard were sweeter.
Because it’s tied to precious memories of family love, laughter, and childhood happiness, unlocking feelings of home and warmth.

CHATBOTS—What they do and why they matter
Chatbots are changing the way customers contact businesses.
Think about this, instead of clicking on a link on a company’s website, you could 16 type a question and get an immediate answer. Some companies are working to make this a reality using chatbots. Chatbots are computer programs that can 17 human languages, allowing them to communicate with people by phone, on apps, or on websites.

The ancient ventriloquism was a kind of sound art. In order to catch animals, ancient people had to cheat (欺骗) animals by imitating their sounds with their mouths. But as a performing art, it was popular no later than the Song Dynasty.
Crosstalk, known as “xiangsheng”, appeared in Beijing during the Qing Dynasty. Modern crosstalk includes four skills: speaking, imitating, amusing and singing. Performers do all these things to make people laugh. The performers also tell funny stories about everyday life or historical events.
Beijing Opera
Shadow Play
Beijing Opera is the soul of Chinese national culture. It came into being in the 1790s. It is full of historical stories, beautiful clothes and wonderful performances. There are four kinds of roles in Beijing Opera: Sheng, Dan, Jing and Chou. Beijing Opera presents plays and characters mainly by four artistic methods. They are singing, speaking, acting and acrobatic (杂技的) fighting.
Starting from the Han Dynasty, shadow play became popular among ordinary people in the Tang Dynasty. It was a mixture of dance, drama, music, art and so on. When it became dark, the performers set up the light and paper screen. Then they held the human characters behind the paper screen and the audience saw the stories from the other side. The characters were made of animal skin. As the shadow players moved their fingers, the characters’ looks, dresses and movement could be clearly seen. At the same time, the performers told traditional stories.

Chatbots can look up information, answer 18 questions (FAQs) and collect information from users. They can be used to help users decide what they want to buy and to make appointments (预约). Businesses can also use them to control who can use certain 19 or information.
(B)
A.regular B.ordered C.process D.types E.trained
There are two 20 of chatbots: open and closed. A closed chatbot mainly follows instructions to understand users’ messages and 21 their requests. An open chatbot uses AI both to tell what users want and to make responses. Open chatbots are able to learn from their 22 conversations and improve their ability to communicate over time. This means they can deal with more requests than closed chatbots. The open chatbot uses questions to guide users step-by-step to their real needs. Chatting with them feels more natural, but if they have not been 23 , users may have a bad experience with them.
