First you need some ants. You may have to wait until summer to find them on the ground. 2. When you have found an ant, put a thin slice of fruit in front of it. It may eat some of it or carry bits away. 3. Check the fruit after an hour. Have other ants been attracted to it? If so, what are they doing? 4. When there are lots of ants, move the fruit to a new place. What will the ants do? What’s going on? You can see one of the best examples of animal teamwork by watching ants. If one ant finds food, it will lead others there to eat it, too. Then they follow each other by making a long line of marks to take the food back to their home. If you move the fruit, the ants will still find it. But, instead of making a new direct route (路线) to the food, they will follow each other through their old route. 1.What will happen if one ant finds food? A.The ant will eat all the food. B.The ant will watch other ants. C.The ant will lead others to the food. D.The ant will wait until others come. 2.If the fruit is moved to a new place, the ants will ________. A.fail to find it. B.give up looking for it. C.make a new direct route to it. D.get to it through the old route. 3.Which is the correct order to do this experiment? a. Move the fruit to a new place. b. Find an ant. c. Check the fruit an hour later. d. Put a thin slice of fruit in front of the ant. A.b-d-a-c B.b-d-c-a C.d-b-c-a D.b-c-a-d 4.What can we learn from this experiment? A.The experiment is done successfully in the lab. B.Ants do the experiment to show their team spirit. C.Watching carefully is of little help in this experiment. D.We can find out some facts by doing small experiments. 5.What’s the theme (主题) of the text? A.Nature. B.Culture. C.Health. D.Art. We all enjoy being part of a group — there’s no better work than teamwork, right? Actually, I disagree. Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own. It’s a much better fit for me, and it has made me think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder rather than easier. Personalities (个性) can make teamwork difficult. There’s often someone on the team that puts their needs first. The team often goes along with this person, whose ideas might not be the best, just the loudest. Just one difficult personality can make teamwork hard. Combine (结合) several challenging personality types, and it’s even harder. Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging. For example, I was once on a team where we never had enough time to meet as a group. To successfully work as a team, you need time together — and lots of it. A final reason teamwork is difficult is because there’s often no training on how to work on a team. You can’t just put people in a room and expect them to work well with each other. You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players: They aren’t just given a ball and told to play. They practice, and they train. Team can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn’t work, I don’t have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don’t have anyone to share it with to see if it really is a great idea. Don’t get me wrong — I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realize what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past and how good teamwork could be if done correctly. And that’s useful information — because one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into a WE TEAM. 1.Why did the writer choose to work from home on his own? A.To keep himself busier. B.To keep himself healthier. C.To make his job easier. D.To make his team harder. 2.Which of the following makes teamwork difficult? A.Strong personality. B.Lots of teamwork time. C.Challenging ideas. D.Clear team roles. 3.What does the author say about time and teamwork? A.Teams need a lot of time together to succeed. B.Teams can work well even without meeting often. C.Time is not important for teamwork. D.Teams should only meet once a week. 4.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.WE TEAM has hardly any advantages. B.ME TEAM needs a lot of IT engineers. C.ME TEAM has no challenges for the writer. D.WE TEAM may be the writer’s choice one day. 5.What is the purpose of the text? A.To show the advantages of teamwork. B.To tell the importance of teamwork. C.To introduce the influence of teamwork. D.To explain the difficulties of teamwork. The bell rang. Aidan hurried to his favorite after-school club: Writing Club. “Today, share your stories with your partner,” said their writing club teacher. “That means providing helpful suggestions to help the other person create their best story.” Great story ideas came easily to Aidan, but he had trouble with spelling and grammar. His partner Penny always scored perfectly in those tests. She didn’t look at him or smile as she gave him her story. Why was she worried? Her story amazed Aidan. “A perfect story,” Aidan told her. “Yours too,” she mumbled (嘟囔). She didn’t even look at him. After the club ended, a book dropped out of her backpack when she left. Aidan picked it up and read the description. It was just like Penny’s story, longer but exactly the same. Aidan couldn’t believe it. Outside the school, Aidan found Penny on a bench (长凳) and held out the book. “You…you know, don’t you?” Her shoulders shook and tears (眼泪) filled her eyes! All of a sudden, Aidan wasn’t angry anymore. He remembered his job as her partner, not to make her feel bad. He didn’t know what to do next. Aidan kept thinking about Penny and her story as he walked home. He decided to ask Mom for help. He found her in the kitchen making dinner with Dad. Mom and Dad had different cooking skills, making them a great creative team. With Dad’s carefulness and Mom’s love for trying new things, their dinner turned out delicious. That gave Aidan a good idea. At school the next morning, Aidan found Penny at her desk. “I’m thinking of leaving the club,” she said. “I never have a good idea for a story.” “Wait,” Aidan said. “What if we team up? You fix my grammar, and I’ll brainstorm ideas. Like how my dad and mom make great dishes.” “Maybe we can write about two friends,” she said. “And one has a big problem.” “And they work together to solve it,” Aidan added. 根据材料内容选择最佳答案。 1.What was Aidan’s problem in writing? A.He didn’t have partners. B.He had no good story ideas. C.He did poorly in spelling and grammar. D.He disliked sharing his stories with others. 2.Why did Penny look worried when sharing her story? Like the Olympic Games, they are held every four years and include many sports, such as swimming, running, and cycling. During the games, many athletes compete with a guide. Santos lost her sight in her teens. Now at the age of 42, she holds the women’s world record in the 100-meter dash for blind or nearly blind athletes. When she races with her guide, Garcia, he runs to her left. He holds a short tether (拴绳) in his right hand, while Santos holds the other end in her left. Since 2012, most Paralympic guides have received medals (奖牌) with their athletes. However, their teamwork often goes beyond the finish line. While training daily with Santos, Garcia is also preparing for the Olympics. “I prefer being a guide,” said Garcia. “I feel more pressure (压力) at the Paralympics. I have to give 200 percent of myself to avoid mistakes and help my teammate succeed.” A similar story comes from American para-cyclist Hannah and her guide, Skyler. Every time Hannah climbs on a bike behind Skyler, Skyler reaches back to hold her hand. “It reminds us we’re in this together,” said Skyler. Hannah and Skyler follow the same training plan. When training gets too hard, Hannah remembers she is working not just for herself, but for Skyler too. Skyler believes that if she hadn’t begun guiding, she would never have shone so much in sports. “I’m lucky that Hannah chose me to do this, just as I chose her,” she said. 1.What can we learn about the Paralympic Games from Paragraph 1? A.They include few sports. B.They are held every year. C.They are for athletes with disabilities. D.They offer a guide for all competitors. 2.How does Garcia help Santos run in the race? A.He stays behind Santos. B.He runs to Santos’ right. C.He holds Santos’ hand directly. D.He uses a tether to connect with Santos. 3.What does the underlined “It” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A.Training hard. B.Being a guide. C.Holding hands. D.Staying behind. 4.What is the structure of the text? A. B. C. D. 5.What is the best title of the passage? A.Heroes in Sports B.Winning Together C.Training for Success D.The Paralympic Games 1.同学们,我们都知道“众人拾柴火焰高”(When people gather firewood together, the flame rises higher.) 参考词汇与短语: teamwork, share ideas, lend a hand, class cleaning, plant trees, volunteer work, proud, warm-hearted, meaningful, stronger together. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. 1. 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.A 4.D 5.D 【导语】本文作者通过自身经历,分析了团队合作中可能遇到的困难,同时也反思了独立工作的挑战,并提出了改进团队合作的建议。 1.细节理解题。根据“Teamwork can be hard. Activity Goal The purpose of this activity is to strengthen the bond among classmates, improve our teamwork and communication skills, and let everyone experience the joy of cooperating with others. 2. Activity Information Time: 40 minutes after class on Friday Location: School playground Number of participants: The whole class (divided into 6 teams, 8 people per team) Materials needed: 6 relay batons, 12 hula hoops, 6 ropes, 6 timers, certificates of merit, small gifts 3. Activity Process First of all, each team lines up at the starting line. The first member of each team holds a relay baton. When the teacher blows the whistle, the activity begins. Then, the first member runs to the first obstacle: he or she needs to jump through 3 hula hoops in turn without stepping on the hoops. After that, the member runs to the second obstacle and ties a knot with a rope together with the second member of the team (who waits there in advance). After finishing the knot, the second member takes the relay baton and runs to the next obstacle. The process repeats until all team members complete their tasks. Finally, the last member runs to the finish line and raises the relay baton. The team that finishes first wins. 4. Rules All team members must follow the rules. Anyone who violates the rules (such as stepping on the hula hoop) needs to go back to the starting point of the obstacle and try again. Team members can cheer for each other, but they are not allowed to help other teams or interfere with their progress. Everyone must complete their own tasks. No one is allowed to replace others. 5. Safety Notes Wear sports shoes to avoid falling during running. Do not push or crowd each other when passing the baton. If there is any discomfort during the activity, stop immediately and inform the teacher. We believe this activity will be very interesting. Since everyone in the team needs to cooperate closely, we can better understand the importance of teamwork. Let’s work together to make the activity a great success! 2 / 16 1 / 16 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
