At just 19 years old, Akiša Peters teaches at the Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal College. He specializes in a language that is thousands of years old, the Dakota language, spoken by the Dakota people.
“The Dakota language is the most important aspect of Dakota culture. Without it, our Dakota culture would no longer exist.” Peters claimed. “I was lucky to grow up around many first-language Dakota speakers. But now the elderly continually passed away and at the end of their lives, they just wanted to know their families would continue to have the language. One of the problems our people have is finding ways to get at-length and ongoing exposure (接触) to the language.”
Aside from instructing at the college level, Peters uses social media to share videos that combine humor, culture, and basic-level conversation to help teach Dakota. In his free time, he visits Dakota elders. He also started an online group of youth to converse and share the knowledge of the language in a safe and supportive space.
Akiša Peters wants to tell the youth that if they want to learn their own language, sit with their elders and learn from them. Endless vocabulary sheets could discourage them from learning. Standards created by non-speakers could also do that. “Within the next decade, I believe my colleagues, other Dakota-learning relatives and I will have children and start a new generation of Dakota. I also hope my brothers and sisters will take the path we laid out for them and continue to learn and speak Dakota. On my reservation there are numerous young people working on the comeback of the language. I’m hopeful because I’m definitely not alone.” Akiša Peters told Teenvogue.
4. Why does Akiša Peters teach the Dakota language?
A. To enrich his experience. B. To record its written form.
C. To prevent it dying out. D. To make it known globally.
5. What can we say about Akiša Peters according to Paragraph 3?
A. Learned. B. Creative. C. Humorous. D. Cooperative.
6. What does Akiša Peters expect the young people to do?
A. Deal with vocabulary sheets. B. Keep to the given standards.
C. Communicate with their elders. D. Learn from their teachers.
7. Which section of a website is the text probably taken from?

In Spain, children and their families are riding bikes to school together in large groups. The program is called “bicibus” or bike bus. In Barcelona, the program started recently with only five children and grew quickly to hundreds of riders.
This fall, children in the Eixample area of Barcelona have a new way to get to school on Fridays — they ride their bikes. In September, a group of five children began biking to school with their parents on Fridays: Soon the group grew to 150 or more. The bike bus begins around 8:25 every Friday morning. The route it will follow is always posted ahead of time, so everyone knows where to join.
Instead of riding in bike lanes (道) or on sidewalks, the bicibus takes over the entire street. The commute (通勤) of these bikers takes about 25 minutes. And with the ever-growing cycling and skating kids taking part in this bike bus culture, the local police are helping stop traffic by riding in front of the bicibus and behind it. This further makes the parents happy that the additional security means their children will travel safely to school.
With music playing and bike bells ringing, the bicibus feels like a party. “The best part of the bicibus is that we ride along and pick up my friends and we ride together,” nine-year-old Maria Pitarch says.
Some parents have made the bicibus the way they get to work on Fridays. Parents are hoping that the bicibus will help change ideas about how people can get around in the city. They want the city to create wider, kid-friendly bike lanes that are separate from car traffic. They point out that the bicibus also helps cut down on pollution.
Recently, pictures and videos of the Eixample bicibus got a lot of attention on the social media site. Many people pointed out what a simple idea it is, and how easy it is to get started. Already some other areas in Barcelona are also organizing bike buses.
8. What can we learn about the bicibus?
A. It has a flexible schedule. B. Its path is made known in advance.
C. It takes over the whole sidewalks. D. Its safety is a concern for parents.
9. Why does the author mention Maria Pitarch in the fourth paragraph?
A. To introduce more about the bike bus.
B. To encourage readers to join the bike bus.
C. To praise the performance of the kids.
D. To show the enjoyment kids get from the program.
10. What do the parents expect the local government to do?
A. Cut down on pollution. B. Focus on traffic problems.
C Build safer bike lanes for kids. D. Promote the bicibus program.
11. What is the public’s attitude toward the bus bike?
A. Doubtful. B. Tolerant. (宽容的) C. Cautious. (谨慎的) D. Supportive.
B 9. D 10. C 11. D

Novelists have different ways of describing laughter. Characters can wear a big smile, be all smiles, crack a smile, grin from ear to ear, break into a smile and so on. The richness of language may suggest that laughter has limitless diversity. However, it may be wrong.
A new study led by Dr. Reza Kamiloglu, provides evidence that there are just two main types of laughter: one generated when people find something funny and one that can be caused only through the physical act of tickling (挠痒痒).
Dr Kamiloglu instructed assistants to collect 887 videos that were then classified, ranging from tickle attacks to laughing for other factors. About 70% of these videos were used to train a machine-learning algorithm (算法) to classify laughter by reasons. The algorithm was then asked to classify the remaining 30% and correctly identified laughter produced by tickling 62.5% of the time. All other forms of laughter, whether they came from viewing stand-up comedy or practical jokes, were difficult to tell apart. This suggested there was something unique about the tickling laughter. When Dr Kamiloglu ran the experiment again, asking human observers to classify the laughter, a similar result showed: Human observers correctly identified tickling laughter 61.2% of the time.
The findings made scientists reflect on the roots of laughter. After all, humans are not the only animals that can laugh and tickle. This points to the fact that laughter from tickling developed over 10 million years ago. This early sort of laughter probably developed to help primates (灵长目动物) build friendly relations. As for other forms of laughter, they probably developed millions of years after tickling, when human brain became complex enough to understand deeper meanings.
12. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 1 refer to?
A. The richness of human language. B. The approach to describing laughter.
C. The idea of countless kinds of laughter. D. The complexity of classifying laughter.
13. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. The contents of the videos. B. The process of the research.
C. The methods of generating laughter. D. The working principle of the algorithm.
14 What can we learn from the research findings?
A. Tickling laughter developed much later than others.
B. Tickling laughter is unique to humans.
C. Primates use tickling to build pleasant relationships.
D. Humans’ laughter is far more complex than primates’.
15. What might be the best title for the text?
A. The Origin of Laughter: All Starts from Tickling.
B. Laughter in Animals: How do Primates Build Relations?
C. The Language of Laughter: How do Writers Describe Joy?
D. Types of Laughter: Humans Laugh in Two Different Ways
C 13. B 14. C 15. D

根据第一段中“The richness of language may suggest that laughter has limitless diversity. However, it may be wrong.(语言的丰富性可能表明笑声具有无限的多样性。然而,它可能是错误的)”可知,前文提到语言的丰富性暗示笑声有无限多样性,而“However”表示转折,说明这种认为笑声有无数种类的观点可能是错误的。故“it”指代的是上文中“认为笑声有无数种类”这一观点。故选C项。
【13题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第三段中“Dr Kamiloglu instructed assistants to collect 887 videos that were then classified, ranging from tickle attacks to laughing for other factors. About 70% of these videos were used to train a machine-learning algorithm (算法) to classify laughter by reasons. The algorithm was then asked to classify the remaining 30% and correctly identified laughter produced by tickling 62.5% of the time. When Dr Kamiloglu ran the experiment again, asking human observers to classify the laughter, a similar result showed: Human observers correctly identified tickling laughter 61.2% of the time.(Kamiloglu博士指示助手收集887个视频,然后对这些视频进行分类,从挠痒痒攻击到因其他因素而笑。
根据最后一段中“The findings made scientists reflect on the roots of laughter. After all, humans are not the only animals that can laugh and tickle. This points to the fact that laughter from tickling developed over 10 million years ago. This early sort of laughter probably developed to help primates (灵长目动物) build friendly relations.(这一发现促使科学家们重新审视笑的起源。毕竟,人类并非唯一会因挠痒痒发笑的动物。这表明因挠痒痒发笑的行为早在1000万年前就已形成。这种早期的笑很可能是为了帮助灵长类动物建立友好关系而演化产生的)”可知,灵长类动物利用挠痒痒建立愉快的关系。故选C项。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段“A new study led by Dr. Reza Kamiloglu, provides evidence that there are just two main types of laughter: one generated when people find something funny and one that can be caused only through the physical act of tickling (挠痒痒).(Reza Kamiloglu博士领导的一项新研究提供了证据,表明笑声只有两种主要类型:一种是当人们觉得有趣时产生的笑声,另一种是只能通过挠痒痒的物理行为产生的笑声)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了一项研究发现,笑声主要分为因觉得有趣而产生的笑声和因挠痒痒而产生的笑声两种类型。故D项“Types of Laughter: Humans Laugh in Two Different Ways(笑声的类型:人类有两种不同的笑声)”概括了文章的主旨,适合作为文章标题。故选D项。

根据上文“For many people, travel is a necessary part of celebrating the holidays with loved ones. This means enduring (忍受) all the troubles that can come with traveling and spending time away from the comforts of your own home. You may face delays, and many hours of sitting that can make you suffer mentally and physically.(对许多人来说,旅行是与亲人一起庆祝节日的必要组成部分。这意味着要忍受旅行带来的所有麻烦,要远离舒适的家。你可能会面临延误,长时间的坐着会让你身心痛苦)”以及后文就如何缓解旅途中的紧张与压力提出了一些建议。故F选项“想要享受假期,试试下面这些方法来减轻压力和紧张”符合语境,故选F。

【答案】Dear fellow students,
As our school’s annual autumn sports meeting draws near, I’ve observed a lack of enthusiasm among some of us toward participation. Thus, I’m writing to urge every one of you to engage in this grand event with passion.
Beyond building physical strength and boosting fitness, sports are a great way to foster teamwork and resilience. The true value lies not in winning medals, but in the joy of striving and the bonds we forge with classmates during the process.
Let’s step out of our comfort zones, sign up for events that interest us, and pour passion into this year’s sports meeting. Together, we can make it an unforgettable experience!

It was exam time at Marc’s school. Every day, their teachers gave them loads of homework and told them the test was very important and that they ought to spare no effort to perform well in it. Everyone followed the teachers’ instructions and made preparations for it, except Marc. He just turned a deaf ear to it. He thought he would rather play football than study.
His mum and dad repeated the importance of revision for exams over and over again. They told him that he should be working hard preparing for the test. But the weather was sunny and he thought he had better things to do.
“Shall we go to the park?” he said to his friend Huck one afternoon. “It’s a nice day. We could play football and kick around.” Huck shook his head. “I’m supposed to review my lessons,” he said. “I’m going home to do some math.”
Marc was amazed. “You’d rather do math than play football?”
“Math is important. Besides, my mum says she will buy me a mountain bike if I do well in the math exam.”
“That’s crazy,” said Marc. Huck shrugged (耸肩) and replied, “Wait until I beat you in the test and you will watch me riding past on my mountain bike!”
“You won’t beat me,” said Marc.
“Oh yes, I will.”
“Oh no, you won’t! That will never happen. Just wait and see!”
For the first time ever, Marc wanted to perform well. He couldn’t bear it if his friend came top and he did badly. So when he got home, he opened his math book. But there was so much to do. All of a sudden, he felt like he’d forgotten everything he had learned that year! He didn’t know where to start. When his sister Lily came in, he was sitting expressionlessly by the desk, just staring out of the window.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
“You don’t look happy, Marc. What’s wrong?” she said.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On the day of the exam, Marc went to school with great confidence.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】“You don’t look happy, Marc. What’s wrong?” she said. Explaining what had happened, especially the bet between him and Huck, he told Lily his decision. He wanted to make careful preparations for the exam, but ran into difficulties with math. He was at a loss what to do next. “Don’t worry! I’ll help you. Just be confident!” replied Lily. The following days, Marc worked very hard and made great progress. Gradually, his confidence grew and he could solve math problems with ease, with the instructions appearing in his brain as if the teacher was standing at his side .
On the day of the exam, Marc went to school with great confidence. He met Huck in the classroom, who looked delighted as if he was bound to win. But Marc didn’t care. When the exam began, Marc answered all the questions as best as he could. Several days later, the result came out. It turned out that Marc did much better than Huck. “Well done,” said Mom. “We could go to see a movie to celebrate, and you can choose one.” “I think Lily should choose,” said Marc. “I would never have gained such a great achievement without her help and encouragement .”

A. Research. B. Business. C. Fashion. D. Culture.

14. What can we learn from the research findings?
