IV阅读理解。 (每小题2分,共30分)
A
Most people follow others blindly. Some people feel it is safe to follow other people. In some rare cases it might be right, but in most cases this can make a big mistake. Ninety-five percent of people never succeed because they are following the wrong group. Actually, there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow others blindly.
According to a study, people always follow others when they aren’t sure about the direction they should take. This means a large number of people could be following others without understanding what’s right and what’s wrong. This attracts more people to follow them and the result is that most people move in a certain direction even if it is wrong.
A man who wants to be successful always hopes for guidance from others and he usually follows the same path as most people, but the question this man never asks himself is, “Are all of those people successful?” Of course not. If you want to follow a group, then follow a successful one. However, in real life you’ll only find one successful person among hundreds of people, and that’s why following others makes no sense at all.
Most people act without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they’re greater than you, then sooner or later you’ll discover that you’re making decisions you might regret later.
However, should we never follow others? No. But just think wisely before you make a decision. If you find others are right, there is no problem with following them, but if you doubt the direction they’re moving in, don’t follow them blindly.
21. Why do most people like to follow others blindly according to the passage?
A. Because they don’t want to be different.
B. Because they believe it’s the safest and easiest choice.
C. Because they’re sure to take the right direction.
D. Because they want to make themselves successful.
22. Which sentence uses “rare” with the same meaning as in the passage?
rare /reə(r)/ adj. ①罕见的 ②珍贵的 ③半熟的 ④稀薄的
A. I’d like a medium rare beef steak.
B. It’s rare to see such an interesting group of people.
C. Pandas are very rare animals in the world.
D. The rare air in Tibet makes it hard for visitors to breathe.
23. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A Advantages of following others. B. Examples of following others.
C. Reasons for not following others blindly. D. Ways of following others.

Jo March sat in the corner of the big sofa, writing busily. Her inkstand (墨水台) was a broken teacup, and she sharpened her pencil with her teeth when it refused to write. The table near her was covered with papers, and she had just finished a story which she hoped would please her father, who was away at the war.
“Girls, where are you? Meg, stop crying over that old glove. Amy, come down from the sofa. Beth, don’t play with that trunk. I want you all to listen to my story.” called Jo, who loved to read her stories aloud.
Meg appeared, drying her eyes, Amy came down, and Beth left the trunk, looking rather embarrassed about being caught in the act of trying on Mother’s wedding veil (面纱).
“Sit still and listen, and I’ll read it,” Jo said seriously, with the air of a little queen. She cleared her throat, took up her manuscript (手稿), and began to read with a dramatic effect that was truly exciting.
It was a sad story, full of strong feelings, as all young ladies’ stories used to be in those days, and Jo read it with an energy that brought tears to the eyes of her listeners. Beth hid her face in Mother’s apron, Amy cried, and Meg sighed (叹气) as if her heart would break.
“Oh, Jo, how could you?” asked Beth, when the story ended.
“That’s just the way I felt when Father went away,” said Amy, trying to look sad and pitiful.
“It’s a perfect little play, and you act it beautifully,” added Meg warmly.
It was all Jo cared for just then. She smiled with pleasure, for her dream was to be a writer.

We live in a society that judges our happiness by how much we have achieved and how successful we are. We are often told, “Work hard, become successful, and then you’ll be happy.” Is it true?
Can Success Bring Happiness?
Happiness helps you get success; it’s not the other way around. Studies show happier people are more likely to be successful, but successful people are not always happier. Success can cause a short increase in happiness, but it cannot guarantee a long one. Shortly after achieving success, you return to your usual level of happiness.
▲
Experts says that happiness is both how good we feel in the present moment and how good we feel when we look at our lives in the past. We all experience difficult periods, and it’s natural for us to feel sad and angry. Happiness is about being able to enjoy the good times, but it’s also about dealing with the bad times.
Is Happiness Being Satisfied With What You Have?
Does the thought of “not having enough” or “wanting something better” trouble you all the time?Actually, it makes you miss a lot. Instead of focusing on getting more, you need to focus on all you have in your life at the present moment.
Sure, you can work hard for success. But success won’t necessarily lead to happiness. True happiness is in the climb itself. So, focus on being happy right now. Be proud of where you are in life and who you are. Be happy first, and embrace the journey to success.
28. We can put the word “guarantee” in ________.
“My dear daughter, I want you to know that I’m always here to give you my ① and support to you. Always ② in yourself and your abilities. Remember, only hard work can ③ great success. I am here for you, cheering you on ④ step of the way.”

A. The thought which troubles you. B. Not having enough.
C. Something better. D. What you don’t have.
31. Which of the followings does the writer probably agree with?
A. be happier be successful
B. focus on getting more happiness
C. start the journey be happy happiness
D. enjoy present embrace good and bad times happiness
D
① Have you ever felt sleepy after a big meal? This feeling is commonly known as a food coma. Unlike a real coma where people feel unconscious (昏迷的), a food coma simply makes you feel very tired for a short time.
② Scientists have studied the food coma to understand how it works. One reason is that when we treat ourselves with a heavy meal, our body sends more blood to the stomach to help digest (消化) the food. This means that there is less blood flowing (流动) to the brain and other systems, which makes us feel tired.
③ Certain types of food can also lead to food coma. Fatty foods like fried chicken and carb-heavy (高碳水) foods like rice or bread are the main reasons. After we eat meals that are high in fat, our bodies produce more sleep hormones (荷尔蒙), which slows down digestion. Also, carbs raise our blood sugar levels quickly. It then causes a chain of chemical reactions that make us want to sleep.
④ Sometimes it feels good to eat a big meal and take a nap, especially during holidays. However, for people who are working or studying, feeling sleepy the whole afternoon can be inconvenient. Don’t worry—here’s how to stay awake!
⑤ Choose healthier foods like fruits and vegetables instead of fatty or carb-heavy meals. They are easier to digest and won’t make you so tired. Some experts suggest eating smaller amounts of food several times a day. It provides your body with a steady (稳定的) source of energy. It also helps your blood sugar from rising to a high level!
⑥ Remember to drink enough water too! Water helps your body process food better. Follow these tips and you may find yourself feeling energetic even after a meal!
32. After big meals, which part of your body will get more blood according to the passage?
A. B. C. D.
33. Why does eating fatty foods make us sleepy?
A. It raises sleep hormones. B. It stops blood from flowing.
C It produces heart medicine. D. It increases brain activities.
34. What's the structure of the text?
A. B.
C. D.
35. What can be the best title for the text?
A. Eat well, sleep well B. Fight against sleep coma
C. Say no to fatty food D. Take naps together

When it comes to learning a foreign language, most people would choose English. Millions of people born in non-English speaking countries learn it just from textbooks and spend hours studying English grammar. However, these are the wrong ways to learn English. Let’s look at some good ways.
English media such as music, videos and TV shows are helpful. I come from a small country in Europe. When I was a little boy, there were few local TV shows or songs in my hometown. So my friends and I almost only watched English TV shows and listened to English songs. This, along with the courses we were taking at school, helped speed up our process of learning English.
Start making conversations in English when you can understand what you hear. While it may seem strange at first, but it would get more natural if you stick to it. I spent a lot of time talking with my friends in English. When we finished primary school we could speak English fluently (流利地).
I learned three other languages when I was in college. Now I can confidently say that the only way to truly master a language is to live as though the language were your mother tongue (语言). So just forget about your textbooks and try acting like you live outside of China. Find ways to expose (使接触) yourself to English as much as possible. It will not only make you a better learner but also give you a fresh view of the language.

Last summer vacation, my parents took me on a trip to Xi’an, an ancient cultural city. We visited the Terracotta Army which is known as the eighth wonder of the world. Visiting the Terracotta Army was a wonderful experience. The Army had different kinds of soldiers in it, and they were all tall and powerful. Their hair, expressions, clothes and shoes were different. Even the lines of their hair could be seen clearly. It was amazing. Ancient Chinese workers must be very skilled. It’s said that the steps to piece (拼合) them together were very difficult and some of them had not been pieced well after forty years. Along with the soldiers, there were also other terracotta products. Some of them were musicians and important people who worked for the emperor.
According to the guide, the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum (陵墓) Site Museum covers an area of about 5.6 million square meters. There are about 8,000 men and horses in this. army. Qinshihuang ordered workers to make this army to protect himself after he died. About 700,000 people worked on the Terracotta Army. It took thirty-nine years to complete the work.
My visit to the Terracotta Army left me an unforgettable experience. I shared my travel notes with my friends. We’re proud of our Chinese culture! The Terracotta Army shows the highest level of art at that time, it’s not only an artwork, but also the result of people’s talent. The Terracotta Army is the treasure of human culture.

A. Advantages of following others. B. Examples of following others.
C. Reasons for not following others blindly. D. Ways of following others.
【答案】21. B 22. B 23. C
