In the third grade, ten-year-old Jane read a book about poaching (偷猎) the endangered tigers and cutting down forests at will. She told her friend Holt about it and she really wanted to help save the tigers.
Despite being in elementary school, the two girls have organized fundraisers(资金筹集).During their first year, the girls raised $1,500 to save tigers. “We went to a zoo and asked if we could help and it became this huge fun thing. We never expected it to get so big,” the girls said.
When Jane and Holt pitched their ideas in the zoo to ask for funds, their table was packed with zoo guests all afternoon. This year’s goal is $2,500. Whatever they raise will be matched by the Zoological Society and all be donated(捐赠) to the Tiger Protection Fund.
On top of helping the animal, the girls would also be excited about their names to be proudly posted at the zoo’s entrance on a sign with other donors. “If we get our names on it, it’s going to feel like being famous, and it’s going to be like a dream come true for us,” Jane said. They said they were close to their goal and the zoo couldn’t be happier.
“Their awareness of what’s happening to tigers and their wanting to educate people on what’s happening to tigers are unbelievable,” Kassner, an animal expert, said. “Three kinds of tigers have already died out and the remaining six are all endangered. The ‘Tiger Girls’ are bringing a big and positive effect and won’t be stopping anytime soon.”
“I’m so happy that we’ve come this far. We can do this now though we’re only fifth graders and just imagine what we can do in the future,” Holt said.

C
In our daily schedules and busy lives, there are moments when we tend to think about where we are heading in life. Can we say that we are living a successful life, or even heading toward one? How to achieve success in life actually depends on what success means to you.
Most people think of success as getting a highly-paid job. But what they are forgetting is that a job is just a means to make your life easier. What is the point of earning a lot of money if you don’t get the time for people who are most important to you in life? After all, you are earning for them and yourself only, right?
In addition, it is very difficult to keep a balance for those who are always looking for more and are never happy with themselves currently. It becomes, therefore, necessary to be thankful for all that you have achieved in life and be proud of yourself. Another key is to not only be confident but also respect what others say. A person who respects his elders and values their advice always becomes more successful in life compared to those with overconfidence.
Most of us tend to focus on things that we don’t have. For example, you might be sad that you aren’t the manager of your company. However, you don’t understand the fact that there may be thousands of people who are dying to be in the place where you are right now. At times counting the coins in your hand is better than regretting that you didn’t get a gold mine.
Obviously, life is to move forward. But then in the end, it is the experience you get from the journey of life that matters, not the destination you are heading toward. Success in life may be different for different people, but living happily each and every moment is the main key to becoming successful in life. So what are you doing now to live a successful life?
8. What does the author think of work and life?
A. Work is as necessary as life.
B. Earn to live and don’t live to earn.
C. A highly-paid job means a successful life.
D. It’s hard to keep a balance between work and life.
9. What does the fourth paragraph mainly talk about?
A. The importance of keeping moving forward.
B. The importance of making use of what you own.
C. The importance of having confidence in yourself.
D. The importance of being grateful for what you have.
10. What does the author suggest at the end of the text?
A. Being proud of yourself.
B Living in the present happily.
C. Being different from others in life.
D. Determining the destination of your life.
11. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To give us some tips on being successful in life.
B. To warn us not to just think about making money.
C. To encourage us to be confident about the future life.
D. To show us different views of different people on success.
B 9. D 10. B 11. A

Many shopping malls now have special areas that offer shoppers their first chance to experience “VR technology”. You may have entered one out of curiosity, or you may think it is just another piece of useless technology. Whatever your opinion, VR, or virtual(虚拟的)reality, is going to become a big part of our lives very soon.
2016 saw the introduction of many attractive products in the world of VR, including Microsoft’s HoloLens and Samsung’s Gear VR. All of them offer an exciting look at the new realities and opportunities that VR brings.
These, however, are the early days of a technology that is expected to go from strength to strength. And 2018 looks like it is going to be the year in which VR technology really takes off.
For a start, using VR will become more normal in 2018. Microsoft and Intel have already discussed their plans for simpler and less expensive VR headsets.
“The idea of VR will stop being a sci-fi (science-fiction) idea, and instead it will turn into an industry of real products used as ways to show off imagination,” said Andrew, a designer at US VR Company, Survios.
It is also expected that VR products will play a part in more common and real-life fields like fashion and film. For example, to enjoy the atmosphere and energy of the front row experience at a fashion show, fans will no longer have to go along in person. Instead, people will be able to enjoy the experience by just wearing a VR headset at home.
You can also expect VR mirrors and fitting-rooms sooner rather than later. “This is an especially good opportunity for brands looking to offer very personalized experience,” said Roy DeYoung from US-based marketing agency, PMX.
As time goes on, there will be fewer discussions about whether people will accept VR technology. It will simply be a discussion of when.
12. Why do many shopping malls have areas for VR experiences?
A. To meet the curiosity of shoppers. B. To introduce the new technology to shoppers.
C. To collect shoppers’ opinions. D. To entertain shoppers with new technology.
13. What can we learn about VR products from the passage?
A. They are cheap for the time being. B. They will meet more personal needs.
C They are being used almost everywhere. D. They won’t be accepted for many years.
14. What is the author’s attitude towards the future of VR technology?
A Doubtful. B. Confused. C. Negative. D. Positive.
15. What may be the best title for the passage?
A. VR Takes over Fashion B. VR Mirrors are around the corner
C. VR is Becoming Real D. VR Meets our Life Goal
B 13. B 14. D 15. C

根据空前“Pack your backpack with all your supplies before going to bed. ”(上床睡觉前把所有的东西都装进背包)空后的“This means you’ll need to take books, pens, pencils, homework, review sheets, sticky notes, bookmarks and anything else that helps you stay organized.”(这意味着你需要带上书,钢笔,铅笔,家庭作业,复习表,便利贴,书签和其他任何能帮助你保持条理性的东西)可知,把东西装进书包是为了确保把需要的一切带好。

此处修饰动词短语pay more attention to,用simple的副词形式simply,意为“仅仅、只”。
故填has been grown。
故填which。

故填a。
此处为固定搭配“tend to do sth.”,意为“倾向于做某事”,用动词不定式to cut。故填to cut。
故填is。

Thank you for listening.
Good morning, everyone. I’m here to share with you a practical way to learn English.
First of all, I immerse myself in the language as much as possible by engaging with English media such as movies, TV shows, podcasts, and music. This method is effective because it exposes me to a variety of accents, colloquialisms, and speaking speeds, which enhances my listening skills and adaptability. Additionally, I practice speaking English aloud and talking to myself about my day or any topic that comes to mind. This practice helps reinforce what I’ve learned and builds confidence in my spoken English. Finally, I make a habit of carrying a notebook with me to set down new words and expressions that I come across, allowing me to review and practice them later.
Thank you for listening.

Lucas, a top student in Green Valley High School, always buried himself in books. With a pile of textbooks on his desk and a pair of headphones blocking out the world, he believed that every minute spent on anything other than studying was a minute wasted. Physical labor, in his eyes, was a tiresome chore reserved for those who couldn’t excel academically.
During the school’s annual clean-up day, while his classmates were busy sweeping classrooms, wiping windows, and tidying the garden, Lucas sat in the library, thinking over his math problems. “Why waste energy on such meaningless tasks?” he muttered. Even though his test scores always ranked at the top, few students invited him to group activities. His cold attitude and remarks about labor made him an outsider in the class.
However, everything changed when the school announced a charity sale to raise funds for local shelters. Each class was required to organize and run a booth (摊位), and Lucas’s teacher appointed him as the group leader. Panicked and unwilling, Lucas initially resisted, but the teacher’s firm gaze left him with no choice. “This is an opportunity for you to understand the value of teamwork and effort,” the teacher said. As he stared at the empty classroom, with only a few volunteers and a mountain of work ahead, Lucas felt a knot in his stomach. He had no idea how to transform the shabby (破旧的) space into an attractive booth, let alone persuade his classmates to join him.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
Lucas took a deep breath and decided to take the first step.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The charity sale finally ended, which proved to be a great success.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Lucas took a deep breath and decided to take the first step. He started by approaching his classmates one by one, sincerely inviting them to join the booth-building project. To his surprise, some agreed. They began to clean the classroom, arranging items neatly and decorating the booth with colorful posters. Lucas even rolled up his sleeves and helped carry heavy boxes. As they worked together, he found himself enjoying the physical labor. He realized that by using his brain and hands in harmony, he could create something meaningful.
The charity sale finally ended, which proved to be a great success. Their booth attracted many students, and they raised a large amount of money. Lucas felt a sense of achievement he had never experienced before. His classmates, who once saw him as cold, now looked at him with respect. He learned that labor, whether mental or physical, was valuable. From then on, he no longer buried himself in books alone. Instead, he actively participated in various activities, understanding that true success came from both academic excellence and the ability to work with others.

4. What led Jane to have the idea of saving tigers?

C. They are being used almost everywhere. D. They won’t be accepted for many years.
14. What is the author’s attitude towards the future of VR technology?
A. Doubtful. B. Confused. C. Negative. D. Positive.
15. What may be the best title for the passage?
A. VR Takes over Fashion B. VR Mirrors are around the corner
C. VR is Becoming Real D. VR Meets our Life Goal
