There are many animal samples we have on show. One of our most famous is a large black bear. They live in this area but are uncommon. Many fishermen see them during certain seasons, but they stay away from humans. Most are seen near the lake. I think you will see some of these birds the most. You have probably seen many of our local birds already. Most people mainly notice little brown birds and the birds with red chests, but there are many different types of both. My favourite bird is actually the one with the colour of the sky. It is a bluebird. Right now it is spring when many animals are awake. There is a lot happening in the forest because of this. However, it is also the wettest season. This is why the north path is closed. Instead, hikers will need to use the higher and older paths through the park. A BICYCLE TOURING through Yellowstone National Park can be a really great experience. The heights of the roads in the park are different, ranging from 5,300 feet to 8,860 feet. That means you’ ll need more time and energy when you travel from one place to another. Camping in Yellowstone For bicyclists who want to camp, they can only camp in the developed campgrounds in the park. You can reserve campsites or get them on a first-come, first-served basis. At all the park’s campgrounds, there are only a limited number of campsites kept for hikers and bicyclists. If you are traveling with a group of other bicyclists, call Xanterra Parks and resorts before you arrive at the park to see if there are group campsites available for you. Road Condition Advisory Take a look at the map to know about the road conditions. The roads shown in red on the map are narrow and not so smooth without road shoulders. The roads shown in yellow have better road shoulders and are more suited to bicycle riding. From June to September, traffic flow is heaviest from mid-morning to late afternoon every day. Plan your trip well to stay away from these busy traffic times and the roads that are used a lot. Bicycling Routes Several rocky roads are open to BOTH bicycle and cars. The Old Gardiner Road and Blacktail Plateau Drive allow two-way bike traffic and one-way cars. These roads are the best for mountain bikes. The following routes, however, are only for bicycles and people walking. 21. What should a group of cyclists do before arriving at Yellowstone? A. Book a hotel room to ensure their accommodation. B. Contact Xanterra Parks and Resort s for group campsites. C. Go directly to the campgrounds for first-come, first-served campsites. D. Check the latest weather conditions and forecasts suitable for camping. 22. Which month is suitable for a bicyclist trying to avoid busy traffic? A. May. B. June. C. July. D. August. 23. The text above is most likely taken from ________. A. an advertisement B. a guidebook C. a news report D. a history book 【答案】21. B 22. A 23. 根据第二段中的“If you are traveling with a group of other bicyclists, call Xanterra Parks and resorts before you arrive at the park to see if there are group campsites available for you.(如果你和一群骑行者同行,在抵达公园前请致电Xanterra Parks and Resorts,查询是否有可用的团体露营地。)” 根据第三段中的“From June to September, traffic flow is heaviest from mid-morning to late afternoon every day.(6月至9月,每天上午中旬至傍晚的交通流量最大。)” 故选A项。 B In 2004, the US men’s basketball team missed out on gold at the Athens Olympics, ending a run of three straight gold medals that began in 1992. To bounce back, the US put together a dream team with stars like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. This team, better known as the Redeem Team, helped lift Team USA to gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. On Sept 6, James was chosen into the Basketball Hall of Fame alongside members of the Redeem Team. The basketball superstar, who started his NBA journey in 2003, is set to become the first player to complete 23 seasons in the NBA. Even after turning 40 in December 2024, he is still at the top of his game. James’ new coach, JJ Redick, believes that one of the secrets to James’ lasting success is his winning attitude, reflected in his disciplined daily routine. This includes arriving early at the gym, going through a detailed pre-game program and post-game recovery process. Even now, James continues to work on specific areas of his game each offseason. “It’s just about sharpening my basic skills in my game at this point— make sure my skills are ready for whatever it demands,” James told BasketballNews. Having become the NBA’s most senior player in the 2023-24 season, James often competes with young players who grew up watching his games. He hopes that he is able to offer them inspiration along his journey. Since 2005, he has traveled throughout China during his offseason, sharing his basketball experiences with young players. This September, James returned to China for the 15th time to meet and inspire young fans. “To have the opportunity to share the game with fans and connect with athletes all over the world means a lot to me,” James said in an interview. 24. Which of the following statements is true according to paragraph 1? A. The “Redeem Team” was formed after failing to win gold in 2004. B. The US men’s basketball team won gold at the 2004 Olympics. C. The US team’s run of three straight gold medals began in 2008. D. Kobe Bryant was a key player on the team that lost in 2004. 25. What is the secret to LeBoron James’ long-term success? A. He gets help from coach JJ Redick. B. He spends free time inspiring young players. C. He keeps a routine and improves skills regularly. D. He has more experience against young NBA players. 26. What does the underlined word“sharpening” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Strengthening. B. Changing. C. Testing. D. Showing. 27. Which of the following can best describe James? A. Proud and anxious. B. Talented but impatient. C. Active but self-centered. D. Self-disciplined and inspiring. A 25. C 26. A 27. 根据第一段中“In 2004, the US men’s basketball team missed out on gold at the Athens Olympics(2004年,美国男篮在雅典奥运会上与金牌失之交臂)”及“To bounce back, the US put together a dream team with stars like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. This team, better known as the Redeem Team, helped lift Team USA to gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. (为了重振旗鼓,美国组建了一支由勒布朗·詹姆斯和科比·布莱恩特等球星组成的梦之队。这支队伍,更广为人知的名字是‘救赎之队’,帮助美国队在2008年北京奥运会上夺得了金牌。)”可知,“救赎之队”是在2004年未能夺金之后组建的。故选A。 根据第三段中“James’ new coach, JJ Redick, believes that one of the secrets to James’ lasting success is his winning attitude, reflected in his disciplined daily routine. This includes arriving early at the gym, going through a detailed pre-game program and post-game recovery process. Even now, James continues to work on specific areas of his game each offseason.(詹姆斯的新教练JJ·雷迪克认为,詹姆斯长盛不衰的秘诀之一在于他必胜的态度,这体现在他有纪律的日常习惯中。这包括早早到达健身房,进行详细的赛前计划和赛后恢复过程。即使是现在,詹姆斯仍然继续在比赛的各个特定领域进行训练。)”可知,詹姆斯成功的秘诀在于他保持规律的日常训练习惯并持续提升技能。故选C。 【26题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第三段划线词前的“Even now, James continues to work on specific areas of his game each offseason.(即使是现在,詹姆斯仍然继续在比赛的各个特定领域进行训练。)” 故选A。 通读全文,根据第三段中“This includes arriving early at the gym, going through a detailed pre-game program and post-game recovery process. Even now, James continues to work on specific areas of his game each offseason.(这包括早早到达健身房,进行详细的赛前计划和赛后恢复过程。即使是现在,詹姆斯仍然继续在比赛的各个特定领域进行训练。)”描述他严格的日常训练和持续提升技能,可知他非常“自律”;根据第四段中“ Having become the NBA’s most senior player in the 2023-24 season, James often competes with young players who grew up watching his games. He hopes that he is able to offer them inspiration along his journey. Since 2005, he has traveled throughout China during his offseason, sharing his basketball experiences with young players.(在2023-24赛季成为NBA最年长的球员后,詹姆斯经常与那些看着自己比赛长大的年轻球员同场竞技。他希望自己能在旅途中给他们带来激励。自2005年以来,他在休赛期走遍中国,与年轻球员分享他的篮球经验。)”可知他非常“具有激励性”。故选D。 C The number of fat children in the U. S. has become three times as high as it was over the past 50 years. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) drew a lot of attention by making a recommendation that doctors put fat kids as young as two years old on family-centered lifestyle and behavior plans. It also suggested prescribeing(开处方) weight-loss drugs to children 12 and above and operations to teens 13 and up. This advice shows the organization has taken a more active standpoint on childhood obesity. However, the lifestyle programs the AAP recommends are expensive, unsuitable for most children and hard to keep up. Few weight-loss drugs have been applied to children. And operations have potential risks and little long-term safety data. Moreover, it’s not clear whether these actions for youngsters help to improve health or only add to the psychological(心理的) stress overweight kids face from the society. Rather than paying close attention to numbers on a scale, the U. S. and countries with similar situations should focus on a key truth: we need to spend more on creating more and safer places for children where they can move and run around, climb and jump, ride and skate. Why is it so hard to get kids moving? Experts think the problem on the privatization of sports—as public investment in school-based athletics reduces, expensive private leagues have grown, leaving many kids out. In addition to fewer opportunities at school, researchers point out that kids spend more time on screens and there aren’t enough safe places for them to play outside the home. New York City, for example, had 2,067 public playgrounds as of 2019—a very small amount for its large population. In Los Angeles in 2015, only 33 percent of youth lived within walking distance of a park. Kids everywhere need more places to play. Public money for building and keeping up these areas is of great importance, but other choices such as shared-use agreements can enable the public to use unused spaces. These opportunities aren’t mainly about changing children’s waist size; they’ re about keeping childhood healthy and fun. 28. What can we infer about the AAP’s recommendations? A. They mainly concentrate on operation. B. They reduce psychological stress. C. They are widely accepted by U. S. families. D. They may not suit most overweight kids. 29. How does the author support the view that kids lack safe play spaces? A. By listing research data. B. By telling a personal story. C. By comparing different countries. D. By presenting experts’ views. 30. What does the author probably agree with about children’s play spaces? A. They are only necessary for overweight children. B. They are less important than weight-loss programs. C. They contribute to both physical and mental health. D. They should be built and managed by private companies. 31. Which of the following would be the best title for the text? A. U. S. Childhood Obesity Problem B. AAP’s New Advice on Childhood Obesity C. More Play Spaces for Healthy Childhood D. Reduce Screen Time for American Kids 【答案】28. D 29. A 30. C 31. 根据第二段中的“However, the lifestyle programs the AAP recommends are expensive, unsuitable for most children and hard to keep up. Few weight-loss drugs have been applied to children. And operations have potential risks and little long-term safety data.(然而,AAP推荐的生活方式项目费用高昂,不适合大多数儿童,且难以坚持。很少有减肥药应用于儿童。手术存在潜在风险,且缺乏长期安全数据)”可知,AAP的各项建议均存在明显缺陷,要么不适合多数儿童,要么应用受限或风险较高,由此可推断这些建议可能不适合大多数超重儿童,故选D项。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“New York City, for example, had 2,067 public playgrounds as of 2019—a very small amount for its large population. In Los Angeles in 2015, only 33 percent of youth lived within walking distance of a park.(例如,截至2019年,纽约市有2067个公共游乐场——对于其庞大的人口来说数量极少。2015年在洛杉矶,只有33%的青少年居住在步行可达公园的范围内)”可知,作者通过列举纽约、洛杉矶两个城市的公共游乐设施数量及覆盖比例等具体数据,直观证明儿童缺乏安全游乐空间。故选A项。 D Around 80 first-year students arrived on our school campus this fall. They had an extra useful thing in their social and study “toolboxes”. That was the ability to practice having good conversations with their classmates about some problems that people might have different opinions on. This kind of experience was made possible by the Summer Frosh Civil Dialogue s Program organized by Stanford University. “All of us would like to think that we are open to interact with others who disagree and that we are somewhat good at it when we do,” said R. Lanier Anderson, professor of philosophy in the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. “But the times are teaching us that we all have room for improvement.” Participants and facilitators were chosen from a large pool of applicants. Eleven facilitators then led groups of about seven students. Many of the facilitators had some background in ethics(伦理学), and all received additional training on how to lead conversations on difficult problems. The things that students learned in the program included ways to listen carefully and how to use what they learned to deal with some clearly stated but debatable issues. Each group studied four different cases. Then the students thought about their own ideas and also those of others on problems like how social media should be controlled. Among the program facilitators were Ursula Neuner and Sophia Pribus. Both said that they asked participants to put themselves in different positions when thinking about the case studies. This could help the students understand why people might have different opinions on problems because of their different experiences. Another way was to look at general values to find something that everyone could agree on, so as to deal with the disagreements about specific things. The new Stanford students quickly were interested in the ways of having conversations that they learned in the course. The facilitators said that although there were a lot of different opinions, the students could still find things that they agreed on, even while keeping their own different views. Both facilitators said if the program continues to be offered in future years, it will create a growing network of students who can help guide open and thoughtful conversations between classmates even when participants’ sources and values differ. 32. Why did Stanford organize the Summer Frosh Civil Dialogue s Program? A. To practice communicating with others. B. To promote open discussions on campus. C. To develop skills for dealing with disagreements. D. To improve students’ academic performance. 33. What did the facilitators do in the program? A They taught participants the basics of ethnics. B. They checked the effect of a training program. C. They took part in a program to learn new skills. D. They organized and guided the progress of a program. 34. What were participants required to do in the program? A. Find out different values they hold. B. Share experiences in solving conflicts. C. Make others believe in their own opinions. D. Understand others’ opinions based on their experiences. 35. What is the two facilitators’ attitude toward the program? A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Objective. D. Negative. C 33. D 34. D 35. 根据第一段中的“They had an extra useful thing in their social and study “toolboxes”. The following routes however, are only for bicycles and people walking. 21. What should a group of cyclists do before arriving at Yellowstone? A. Book a hotel room to ensure their accommodation. B. Contact Xanterra Parks and Resort s for group campsites. C. Go directly to the campgrounds for first-come, first-served campsites. D. The text above is most likely taken from ________. A. an advertisement B. a guidebook C. a news report D. a history book B In 2004, the US men’s basketball team missed out on gold at the Athens Olympics, ending a run of three straight gold medals that began in 1992. C The number of fat children in the U. S. has become three times as high as it was over the past 50 years. A They are only necessary for overweight children. Reduce Screen Time for American Kids D Around 80 first-year students arrived on our school campus this fall. A. They taught participants the basics of ethnics. B. They checked the effect of a training program. C They took part in a program to learn new skills. A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Objective. D. Negative. 第二节:(共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How many of you feel a connection to this idea?
