With their eldest daughter Flora, five, just a year away from starting school, the couple decided it was time to go on a family adventure across the continent. Cheryl teaches Flora while they travel to prepare her for school next year. The family, which also include their four-year-old daughter Elsie, son Archie and dogs Poppy and Angus, have been on the road for a period.

You can’t go into your room and be angry. It means it has to be dealt with there and then, and it taught us to be more open with each other as a family. Every day is quality family time. When it comes to work, workers, and jobs, much of the concern of the modern age boils down to the fear that we’re witnessing the final stage of the game, and that there will be nowhere for humans to withdraw as machines take over the last few tasks. The most recent example comes from the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Is there no area of human experience that can’t be replaced by AI? And if not, what is left for humans to do except the tasks involved in taking care of the machines?
At the heart of this concern is our desire for good jobs that make the most of workers’ natural abilities and where the work provides the worker with motivation and work-life balance. More importantly, good jobs support workers in learning by doing — and, in so doing, deliver benefits on three levels: to the worker, who gains in personal development and job satisfaction; to the organization, which reforms as staff find new problems to solve and opportunities to pursue, and to the community as a whole, which harvests the economic benefits of hosting positive organizations and workers. This is what makes good jobs productive for the organization, as well as engaging and fulfilling for the worker.
Does the ongoing advance of AI threaten to get rid of all the learning, creativity, and meaning that make a job a good job? Certainly, some have blamed technology for just such an outcome. Headlines today often express concern over technological innovation resulting in bad jobs for humans, or even the complete disappearance of certain professions. Some fear that further technology advancement in the workplace will result in jobs where employees are being asked to work in split times or for longer periods over more days.
The problem here isn’t the technology; rather, it’s the way the technology is used — and, more than that, the way people think about using it.
46. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to take care of the AI machines.
B. The relations between workers and jobs.
C. The human’s fears in the age of AI.
D. Human experiences were replaced by AI.
47. According to the passage, what’s the fear in the age of AI?
A. We’ll have nothing left to do.
B. We’ll be taken over by AI.
C. We’ll be addicted to computer games.
D. We’ll have no machines to take care of.
48. What jobs are NOT supposed to be good according to the passage?
A. Those that mainly have the economic benefits.
B. The ones that offer chances to progress professionally.
C. Those that make full use of workers’ motivation.
D. The ones that don’t bring new problems to workers.
49. How do news media respond to the development of AI?
A. Negative. B. Supportive. C. Optimistic. D. Unknown.
50. What will the author probably talk about next?
A. The future jobs humans will do.
B. The application of AI in the future.
C. The ways that humans do jobs.
D. The proper attitude towards AI.
D
My husband went to a friend’s party, leaving me home alone. It was a Friday night, and with nothing planned, I turned to my porcelain (瓷器) collection. It needed rearranging. My goal was to create a display that was not only pleasing to me but also appealing to others.
That task consumed a great deal of time. The next morning when my husband arrived home, I hardly noticed. I was fully engaged in selecting pieces that needed to be moved around to show them to the best effect. Time flew by, and I didn’t realize it then, because I was in the “flow”.
The concept of flow applies to many activities we enjoy in life, but it’s particularly relevant to collectors who can lose themselves in their collections in various ways. Flow is defined as a mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed (沉浸) in a feeling of energized focus, complete involvement, and enjoyment in the activity process. Art collecting can be deeply engaging and fulfilling, making it an ideal candidate for experiencing flow. This hobby is rich with opportunities for the appreciation of beauty, organization, and intellectual stimulation. The characteristics agree perfectly with the characteristics of flow, which overall enhance our well-being and life satisfaction.
When I finally stood that morning, surrounded by my rearranged treasures, I realized something profound. My husband’s laughter at my messy appearance and the unsteady teacups on the bookshelf wasn’t just amusement — it was a witness to transformation. “You look like a time traveler,” he said. Indeed, I had journeyed through centuries of craftsmanship (工艺), across cultures, into that rare space where time disappears into pure presence.
In our age of digital distraction, where tasks multiply but satisfaction decreases, my night with the porcelain reminded me of a simple truth: real satisfaction comes from being fully present in what we love. Those quiet hours of rearranging the porcelain were more than just organizing objects — they were an invitation to slow down, to connect with beauty and history, and to rediscover the joy of complete focus.
51 What happened to the author while rearranging the porcelain collection?
A. She kept checking the clock to ensure progress.
B. She experienced conflicts with her husband.
C. She was too absorbed to notice anything else.
D. She worked out a way to promote her efficiency.
52. Which of the following are the characteristics of “flow”?
①Complete involvement in an activity.
②Being in a focused and energetic state.
③Feeling pressured to finish tasks quickly.
④Finding enjoyment in the process.
⑤Being aware of changes in the surroundings.
A. ①②④ B. ②③④ C. ①④⑤ D. ②③⑤
53. The author’s husband said the author looked like “a time traveler” because ________.
A. she was dressed in old-fashioned clothes
B. she was mentally connected with historical objects
C. she accidentally mixed pieces from different eras
D. she worked continuously through the night
54. What does the author intend to tell us in the last paragraph?
A. We should pursue more productive tasks.
B. Art collecting helps us solve modern anxieties.
C. Traditional hobbies are losing their value.
D. We should fully engage in what we love.
55. What might be the best title for the text?
A. Finding Joy in Focus: My “Flow” Experience
B. My Time Travel with Porcelain One Day
C. My Reflection on Art Collections
D. Enjoying the Art of Porcelain: A Personal Story

You’ve got to know your own value, know what you want, and stick with it. That’s what T. McDowell’s advice to others is and it’s certainly worked for him. This high school senior is currently the owner of Immersion Imaging, a successful company specializing in Internet commerce solutions and online financial databases.
McDowell launched the company in 2012, which was originally called 4th Dimension Graphics. Two years later, it was recognized as Immersion Imaging. Surprisingly, he didn’t begin the company with the assistance of any partner, but instead founded it on his own with the experience and contacts that he already had.
“It’s always been a one-person operation. I could easily take on partners or scale up the business some more, but I want to keep it this way for now.” McDowell said. I don’t lack any contracts right now. I like it because it’s flexible, so that if I need more income, I can do more; and if I take a break for a while, I don’t have any problems.” If McDowell spends between 30 and 60 hours a week working. Immersion Imaging will offer him a steady income.
Part of the reason why McDowell ended up in the computer industry might be explained by the exposure he had as a child. However, he spends his free time on more than just computers.

通读全文,尤其是第一段中“When it comes to work, workers, and jobs, much of the concern of the modern age boils down to the fear that we’re witnessing the final stage of the game, and that there will be nowhere for humans to withdraw as machines take over the last few tasks. The most recent example comes from the use of artificial intelligence (AI). (当谈到工作、工人和工作时,现代人的许多担忧归结为一种恐惧,即我们正在见证这场游戏的最后阶段,人类将无处可退,因为机器接管了最后几项任务。最近的例子来自人工智能(AI)的使用。)”和第三段中“Does the ongoing advance of AI threaten to get rid of all the learning, creativity, and meaning that make a job a good job? (人工智能的持续发展是否会威胁到所有让一份工作成为一份好工作的学习、创造力和意义?)”可知,文章主要探讨的是AI时代人类对工作被取代的深层恐惧。故选C项。
【47题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中“Is there no area of human experience that can’t be replaced by AI? And if not, what is left for humans to do except the tasks involved in taking care of the machines? (人类的经验是否没有不能被人工智能取代的领域?如果不是,除了照顾机器的任务,人类还能做什么呢?)”可知,在AI时代人类害怕AI系统性地接管工作主导权。故选B项。
【48题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“More importantly, good jobs support workers in learning by doing — and, in so doing, deliver benefits on three levels: to the worker, who gains in personal development and job satisfaction; to the organization, which reforms as staff find new problems to solve and opportunities to pursue, and to the community as a whole, which harvests the economic benefits of hosting positive organizations and workers. (更重要的是,好的工作支持工人在实践中学习,这样做可以在三个层面上带来好处:对工人来说,他们获得了个人发展和工作满意度;对组织来说,当员工发现新的问题需要解决和机会需要追求时,组织就会进行改革;对社区来说,作为一个整体,它收获了接纳积极的组织和工人的经济效益。)”可知,好工作会给员工带来新问题,而非没有新问题。故选D项。
【49题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“Headlines today often express concern over technological innovation resulting in bad jobs for humans, or even the complete disappearance of certain professions. (今天的头条新闻经常表达对技术创新导致人类失业,甚至某些职业完全消失的担忧。)”可知,媒体多聚焦AI对就业的破坏性影响,体现其负面倾向。故选A项。

51. What happened to the author while rearranging the porcelain collection?
A. She kept checking the clock to ensure progress.
B. She experienced conflicts with her husband.
C. She was too absorbed to notice anything else.
D She worked out a way to promote her efficiency.
52. Which of the following are the characteristics of “flow”?
①Complete involvement in an activity.
②Being in a focused and energetic state.
③Feeling pressured to finish tasks quickly.
④Finding enjoyment in the process.
⑤Being aware of changes in the surroundings.
A. ①②④ B. ②③④ C. ①④⑤ D. ②③⑤
53. The author’s husband said the author looked like “a time traveler” because ________.
A. she was dressed in old-fashioned clothes
B. she was mentally connected with historical objects
C. she accidentally mixed pieces from different eras
D. she worked continuously through the night
54. What does the author intend to tell us in the last paragraph?
A. We should pursue more productive tasks.
B. Art collecting helps us solve modern anxieties.
C. Traditional hobbies are losing their value.
D. We should fully engage in what we love.
55. What might be the best title for the text?
A. Finding Joy in Focus: My “Flow” Experience
B My Time Travel with Porcelain One Day
C. My Reflection on Art Collections
D. Enjoying the Art of Porcelain: A Personal Story
51. C 52. A 53. B 54. D 55. A

故选A项。

Dear teachers and fellow students,
I’m Li Jin. It’s a great honor to stand here and share my ideas on Trust: the silent bond of urban civilization.
In our city, there are many examples. For example, people always return lost wallets with money and IDs inside; strangers offer seats to the old people on the bus; you can also see delivery place parcels safely at gates, and you can even buy flowers from a flower shop without clerk in it.
In my view, trust is vital for urban life. It makes people help each other and creates a friendly atmosphere. Only when we trust each other can our city be more beautiful and harmonious.
Let’s start with the small things and spread trust, making our city a better place to live in.
