When Clara took her five-year-old daughter Lila to a school interview this September, she hoped to see her laugh and play with other kids. Instead, Lila just sat alone in a corner, picking at her clothes and never looking up when a teacher talked to her. The teacher suggested that Lila might struggle with socializing. Clara felt worried — she’d never noticed this before — and left the school with a heavy heart.
As a nurse, Clara made a hard decision: she quit her job to fully focus on her daughter. She read many books and watched online videos to learn about kids who have trouble fitting in. “People like my daughter love repeating their behavior to calm themselves. Lila likes arranging her toys in a straight line over and over again. If she’s not troubling anyone, I let her be,” Clara says.
Despite her efforts, some neighbors often judged her parenting (育儿). Clara faced unkind words, but she stayed patient. She kept a small notebook to record what upset or pleased Lila — loud noises scared her, but soft music made her smile. She also encouraged Lila to join activities like painting and planting flowers.
Clara gave up the idea of “fixing” Lila. “I didn’t push her to talk more or play with others. I just wanted her to feel comfortable and grow in her own way,” she says. Today, Lila is more confident — she can say simple greetings, help water the flowers at home, and even share her paintings with the teacher.
Clara and her friend started a small group called “Little Stars Shine Too”. They shared Lila’s stories online to help other parents. Clara also wrote a guidebook to support parents of children with special needs. For her, the key is acceptance. “When you stop trying to fit your child into a box, you open the door to a new world,” she says.
4. What caused Clara to leave the school with a heavy heart?
A. Her regret at Lila’s performance. B. Her knowing about Lila’s condition.
C. Her poor preparations for the interview. D. Her failure to meet Lila’s headteacher.
5. What’s a feature of people like Lila according to Clara?
A. They are skilled at playing with toys.
B. They are interested in specific activities.
C They keep calm by repeating the same action.
D. They need special attention from their families.
6. How does Clara help her daughter Lila?
A. By taking part in different activities. B. By creating a supportive environment.
C. By working together with her neighbors. D. By reflecting on daily mistakes regularly.
7. Who is the text probably written for?
A. Parents. B. Teachers. C. Nurses. D. Students.
C
When we come to the important “protectors” of nature, we often think of big animals like tigers or elephants, because they are strong and powerful. As we learn more about animals, however, we’re surprised to find that sometimes a much smaller animal can also play a far bigger role in nature and our lives: bees.
Bees are not just for making sweet honey. They have a job vital to almost all plant life: helping plants reproduce. When bees land on a flower to drink nectar — a sweet liquid produced by flowers, pollen (花粉) sticks to their legs. As they fly to the next flower, this pollen falls off, letting plants make seeds and fruits. This process, called pollination, is essential. It helps grow over 70% of the fruits and vegetables we eat, like apples, tomatoes and carrots. Without bees, many favorite foods would disappear from stores, and some crops for farm animals would be hard to grow.
However, bees are now in great danger, with their numbers falling fast. Climate changes make temperatures shift unexpectedly, causing flowers to bloom (绽放) too early or too late. Bees wake up from winter sleep but can’t find enough nectar, going hungry and dying. Also, farmers use chemicals that will stick to flowers to kill harmful insects. When bees collect nectar, the chemicals poison them, killing entire hives (蜂巢). Every year, bee numbers drop sharply, worrying scientists around the world as it threatens our food supply.
To save bees, people take small community actions. Many farmers grow extra flower beds around fields for bees. Some families keep small beehives in gardens to give bees safe homes. Schools teach students to protect these insects, letting kids plant flower pots in classrooms to attract bees.
Bees may be small — no bigger than your finger nails — but they’re crucial to our food supply and the environment. They keep plants growing, which clean the air and shelter other animals. With more people caring and helping, we can keep these little helpers supporting our planet.
8. Why are tigers and elephants mentioned in paragraph 1?
A. To compare different animals.
B. To lead into the topic about bees.
C. To show the importance of tigers and elephants.
D. To present people’s understanding of the nature.
9. What role do bees play in helping flowers reproduce?
A. They produce sweet liquid to feed flowers.
B. They help flowers spread seeds and fruits.
C. They protect flowers from harmful insects.
D. They transport pollen among flowers for pollination.
10. What’s paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. The reasons why bees are in danger. B. How climate change affects flowers.
C. The ways that farmers protect crops. D. What scientists worldwide worry about.
11. What does the author intend to express through the text?
A. Many hands make light work. B. Actions speak louder than words.
C. A friend in need is a friend indeed. D. Little things can make a big difference.
D
As one of the most widely used languages in the world, Chinese, spoken by about 1.4 billion people, has become much more important around the globe in recent decades. Yet, few people fully understand the difficulties that non-native learners will face when trying to master this language.
Unlike many alphabetic languages, Chinese has a unique writing system. It uses characters instead of letters, and each character carries its own meaning and pronunciation. This makes its vocabulary rich but also brings challenges. For example, characters like “辩 (argue)” and “辨 (distinguish)” share the same part “辛” and look almost identical at first sight, differing only in middle parts (‘讠’ and ‘忄’). Telling them apart correctly is even hard for learners who have studied Chinese for years.
Chinese’s tonal system is another big and well-known challenge for learners. It has four basic tones, and even a tiny change can completely change a word’s meaning. Take “shi” for example: when read with the first tone (shi), it means “poetry”; with the second tone (shi), it stands for “stone”; with the third tone (shi), it refers to “to cause”; with the fourth tone (shi), it can mean “matter” or “event”. If a tone is mispronounced, it will lead to misunderstandings in daily interactions, so learners need lots of repeated listening and speaking practice to get them right.
Mastering Chinese isn’t just about memorizing characters and tones, it also needs a good understanding of Chinese culture behind the language. The traditional greeting “Ni chi le ma? (Have you eaten?)”, which isn’t a literal question about whether someone has had a meal. Instead, it’s a warm way to show care for others. Learners who fail to recognize this cultural meaning may either respond literally (e.g., “Yes, I had noodles.”) or misinterpret it as an invitation to eat, resulting in awkward communication gaps that hinder genuine social connection.
In short, learning Chinese well comes with many difficulties, as Chinese is more than just a tool for communication, it’s a key to understanding the rich culture of China.
12. Why are characters “辩” and “辨” tough for learners?
A. They have no fixed meanings. B. They look similar to each other.
C. Their pronunciation is easy to mix up. D. Their spelling is too complex to memorize.
13. What might happen when a tone is mispronounced?
A. A new tone may come out. B. The listener may get surprised.
C. The speaker may feel awkward. D. Improper messages may be delivered.
14. What does the underlined word “hinder” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Block. B. ignore. C. Deepen. D. Develop.
15. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Ways to Master Chinese Characters
B Cultural Context in Chinese Greetings
C. Challenges in the Course of Learning Chinese
D. Difficulties in Tonal Pronunciation of Chinese

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Lily and Mia were the kind of friends who almost thought the same way most of the time. They always stood by each other through happy and hard times.
Both of them loved animals deeply and dreamed of doing their part to protect the wild creatures around their town. So they decided to start a project — creating a booklet (宣传册) to introduce local wild animals and call on people to live in peace with nature. At first, the project looked really promising. They spent days sharing ideas, visiting the local nature reserve to observe animals, and collecting basic information. But when they got deeper into planning the booklet, their argument started — each holding different opinions on the booklet’s style.
Lily was good at telling stories and loved warmth. She wrote touching tales about rescuing injured animals, thinking caring stories would make people care about wild animals. Mia, however, liked using facts and details. She believed a science-based booklet — full of real data about local wild animal species, their living habits and threats they faced — would work better to spread the message. She said people needed accurate knowledge to protect animals effectively.
As they talked more angrily, their once-friendly relationship became tense (紧张的). They spoke louder and louder, and the mood between them turned bad. Both felt very strong about their own ideas and refused to change. In the end, they went their separate ways, each feeling upset and disappointed with the other.
For the next few days, Lily and Mia lived their daily lives with a sense of emptiness. Lily couldn’t stop thinking about the project and Mia. She missed their long chats and the excitement they felt at the start. She began to wonder if her idea was really the only right one. Similarly, Mia was also feeling sad. She missed Lily’s creativity and the way they used to share and develop ideas together.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
That night, Mia lay in bed, unable to fall asleep.

C. They keep calm by repeating the same action.
D. They need special attention from their families.
6. How does Clara help her daughter Lila?
A. By taking part in different activities. B. By creating a supportive environment.
C. By working together with her neighbors. D. By reflecting on daily mistakes regularly.
7. Who is the text probably written for?
A. Parents. B. Teachers. C. Nurses. D. Students.
【答案】4. B 5. C 6. B 7. A

【答案】8. B 9. D 10. A 11.

B. Cultural Context in Chinese Greetings
C. Challenges in the Course of Learning Chinese
D. Difficulties in Tonal Pronunciation of Chinese
【答案】12. B 13. D 14. A 15. C

【12题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中的“For example, characters like ‘辩 (argue)’ and ‘辨 (distinguish)’ share the same part ‘辛’ and look almost identical at first sight, differing only in middle parts (‘讠’ and ‘忄’). Telling them apart correctly is even hard for learners who have studied Chinese for years.(例如,像‘辩(争论)’和‘辨(辨别)’这样的汉字有相同的部分‘辛’,乍一看几乎一模一样,只有中间部分(‘讠’和‘忄’)不同。即使是学了多年汉语的学习者也很难正确区分它们。)”可知,这两个汉字对学习者来说很难是因为它们看起来很相似。故选B项。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“If a tone is mispronounced, it will lead to misunderstandings in daily interactions, so learners need lots of repeated listening and speaking practice to get them right.(如果声调发音错误,会导致日常交流中的误解,所以学习者需要大量的重复听和说的练习来正确发音。)”可知,当声调发音错误时,可能会传递错误的信息。故选D项。
【14题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第四段中的“Learners who fail to recognize this cultural meaning may either respond literally (e.g., ‘Yes, I had noodles.’) or misinterpret it as an invitation to eat, resulting in awkward communication gaps that hinder genuine social connection.(未能认识到这种文化意义的学习者可能会直译回答(例如,‘是的,我吃了面条。’)或将其误解为邀请吃饭,导致尴尬的交流障碍,hinder真正的社交联系。)”可知,未能认识到这种文化意义会导致尴尬的交流障碍,从而影响真正的社交联系,所以hinder意为“阻碍,阻止”,与block意思一致。故选A项。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中的“Yet, few people fully understand the difficulties that non-native learners will face when trying to master this language.(然而,很少有人完全理解非母语学习者在试图掌握这门语言时将面临的困难。)”可知,文章主要介绍了学习汉语过程中面临的诸多困难,包括独特的汉字书写系统、声调系统以及背后的文化理解等方面。由此可知,C项(学习汉语过程中的挑战)是文章最佳标题。故选C项。

第二节(满分25分)

1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

When Lily opened the door, she was surprised to find Mia standing outside.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
That night, Mia lay in bed, unable to fall asleep. Her eyes fell on the nearby desk where she and Lily had planned the booklet. Except for their rough project notes, it was empty. She thought of Lily’s excitement when sharing stories of rescuing injured animals. She also longed for their previous laughs. At that moment, a wave of guilt filled her. She kept thinking that she’ d cared more about “being right” than their friendship. At dawn, she grabbed her data notebook and hurried to Lily’s.
When Lily opened the door, she was surprised to find Mia standing outside. Holding her half-done research notes, “I’m sorry,” Mia said sincerely. “Your stories are just as important as facts, because they make people want to care.” Lily’s eyes got wet, and she gently squeezed Mia’s hands. Their work fitted well together, and they finished the booklet as a team. Handing out copies, they both found their friendship had grown stronger. Meanwhile, they learned to see things from each other’s side. It was the real key that made cooperation truly work.
