As the only child of her family, Rena often felt lonely in her youth. But that all changed when she turned ten. On her birthday, her grandmother bought her a gray puppy. She named it Chloe.
From the very start, Rena and Chloe were always with each other. Every bit of love Rena gave, the little dog returned ten times. “She is my best friend. She’d lick (舔) my face forever unless I stop her,” Rena always said.
But when Rena was 14, her father got a new job which required him to work from home. So the house had to keep quiet all the time. However, Chloe was very yappy. So the parents decided to give up Chloe.
Rena was so sad, but she could do nothing about the matter. She had to leave it at the local animal center and hoped that it would find a new home with people who loved her as much as she had.
Twelve years had passed since Rena last saw Chloe. Rena grew up, got married, and had a child of her own. But in the bottom of her heart she still felt her family was quite incomplete. Remembering the joy that Chloe had brought her as a kid, Rena wanted her daughter to experience the same feeling. And then one day she saw a post on Facebook. It said an elderly dog needed a new home. The dog in the photograph looked a lot like Chloe— and she was also named Chloe. Immediately she decided: She would adopt(收养) this dog.
When she met the new Chloe, Rena was surprised to find it seemed so familiar. And the dog appeared to feel the same way about Rena. “She ran up to me and started licking my face,” she said. “I was crying. I just knew that it was my Chloe.”
Rena’s mom remembered there was a way to test: Their Chloe had been fixed a microchip(芯片) as a puppy. They found the ID number, then Rena took the new Chloe to the vet to be scanned. Sure enough, she also had a microchip and the numbers were a perfect match.

Real Dogs VS Robot Dogs
Students in our class have different opinions on keeping real dogs or robot dogs. Here are some of their ideas.
I like keeping real pet dogs because loneliness is terrible, and I need a pet around. Whenever I look after my dog Rocky, I feel better. And my grandma benefits from taking care of it. Rocky is furry and soft, which gives us a natural sense of closeness. When I enter the front door after school every day, it is usually the first to greet me with its tail wagging. Sometimes, it will run in circles around me to get my attention, and it will roll over so that I can pet its tummy.
Tim
@Tim I don’t agree to keep a real dog. Keeping robot dogs is wonderful! They don’t lose hair or eat things the way real dogs do. They won’t bite or scratch you. They won’t sharpen their claws on your new sofa, or chew the leg off of the dining room table. What’s more, your robot dogs won’t have to go to the vet or die, leaving you in a state of emotional heartbreak. I enjoy living with my robot dog.
Jack
So do I. Nowadays, the burden of keeping a real dog is quite heavy. You have to bathe it, buy clothes, and see a vet when it is sick, maybe at least two or three thousand yuan a year. In addition to paying money, there is also a burden of time and energy. Some robot dogs can do many things: they can herd sheep, walk around the fields, open doors, do some dangerous and dirty jobs instead of people and so on. @Jack
Lucy
I think both of them are fantastic. It’s true that you never have to worry about giving your robot dogs water or food. They can wag their tails, play balls, move their ears back and forth and blink eyes. Robot dogs can also understand different words, such as “sit”, “stay”, and “come”. If you want a pet dog, but worry about taking care of it, then a robot dog will be a good choice. Now robot dogs can “learn” and remember their daily experiences. However, real dogs can play with people and make them happy. They can also interact with their owners, but robot dogs just can’t do this yet.
Sam
34.Why does Tim like to keep real dogs?
A.To help people do many things. B.To take care of the elderly people.
C.To help him keep away from loneliness. D.To have better communication with dogs.
35.What do robot dogs and real dogs have in common according to the conversations?
A.They can bite and bark at strangers. B.Both of them can wag tails and blink eyes.
C.Owners can save time, money and energy. D.You need to take them to vets when they are sick.
36.Where may you see their conversations?
A.In a magazine. B.In a comic strip. C.On the Internet. D.In a science fiction.
37.Which of the following descriptions is right?
A.Tim and Lucy share the same opinion.
B.Keeping real dogs is acceptable for Sam.
C.Jack thinks it is expensive to keep a real dog.
D.Robot dogs can understand all their owners’ words.

故选A。

owns拥有,用于一般现在时;owned拥有,用于一般过去时;is owning正在拥有,用于现在进行时;has owned已经拥有,用于现在完成时。根据“So far”可知,本句为现在完成时态,主语he是第三人称单数,用has owned。

80 years old80岁,作表语;80-years-old错误形式;80-year-old80岁,作定语;80 year old错误形式。
根据“Before they were rescued”可知,本句为一般过去时,主语they与force是被动关系,用一般过去时被动语态were forced。故选C。
6.句意:现在“大象世界”为这些美丽的动物提供了一个舒适的庇护所。

A
As the only child of her family, Rena often felt lonely in her youth.

Sam

36.Where may you see their conversations?

Sam
