Good morning, fellow students and teachers,
Nowadays, traveling is often reduced to checking in at famous spots and taking photos for social media. We rush through destinations but rarely absorb their essence.
Last summer, I traveled to a remote mountain village. Instead of following a packed itinerary, I simply lived with a local family. I helped with farm work, shared meals, and listened to their stories under the stars. This experience taught me that the true purpose of travel is not to merely see new places, but to connect with people, understand different ways of life, and ultimately, understand ourselves better.
So, let’s travel with purpose. Let’s look beyond the scenery and seek the stories, the connections, and the personal growth that every journey can offer.
Thank you for your listening!

Paragraph 1:
When Mr. Griffin examined the cake thoughtfully, then asked Clara an unexpected question. "Clara," he said, his voice unusually gentle yet piercing in the quiet room, "this cake, born from scarcity, tells a story of abundance—abundance of spirit, not ingredients. If you could ask your great-grandmother Eleanor one question about this recipe book, what would it be?" Clara paused, her fingers lightly tracing the book's worn spine. She thought of the marginalia, of the love that transformed meager ingredients into celebrations. "I think I would ask her," Clara replied, her voice gaining strength, "not how she managed to bake with so little, but how she found the courage to keep celebrating life when it must have felt so hard to do so." Her answer hung in the air, transforming the humble cake from a simple school project into a profound lesson on human resilience.
Paragraph 2:
The following week, the school museum requested the recipe book for a new exhibition. Titled "Living History: The Stories We Hold," the exhibition aimed to showcase ordinary objects that carried extraordinary personal narratives. Eleanor's recipe book was given a central place. Beside it were Clara's photos and a card detailing the story of the Depression Cake and the family history it represented. More importantly, inspired by Clara's project, Mr. Griffin initiated a "Family Artifact" drive. Students began bringing in their own treasures—a grandfather's weathered toolbox, a mother's immigration papers, a quilt stitched by generations. The exhibition grew into a powerful collection of personal histories, proving that history is not just about grand events in textbooks, but also about the quiet, enduring strength found in everyday lives. Clara’s simple cake had started a conversation, reminding everyone that sometimes, the most powerful history lessons are baked with love and resilience, not found on dusty museum shelves.

W: You are right. Then forget about airports.

Text 10
W: I woke up this morning feeling a little worried. I was going to take part in the 200-meter race in our school’s swimming pool. Was I ready? Was I prepared?
First, the headmaster gave a speech at 8 o’clock. He encouraged us all to do well. Five teams took part in each event. At 8:30 the 100-meter freestyle began. Unfortunately, one of our swimmers had a sudden pain in her left leg during the race. She stopped swimming and shouted for help. A teacher jumped into the pool and brought her back. Luckily, she was fine. At about 9:10, it was time for my event, the 200-meter freestyle. I walked to the edge of the pool and waited for the judge to fire his gun. I heard him say, “On your marks … Get set … Go!” and we jumped in. However, a swimmer dived into the pool too early. We had to start again. I was in the lead for the first 150 meters, but another swimmer swam past me later. I won a medal for second place. I was a little disappointed.
My team came in second overall, with 47 points. The team which won had a total of 53 points.
I’m tired out now. It’s been a long day and I’m about to go to sleep. Bye!

When I first arrived at my host family's home in England, everything felt strange. The Thompsons were kind, but our eating habits differed greatly. At home, rice was essential for every meal, but here, potatoes and bread took its place.
One evening, Mrs. Thompson prepared a traditional roast dinner. I hesitated before asking, "Do you have any rice?" The family exchanged smiles. "We eat rice only occasionally," Mr. Thompson explained gently. That simple exchange made me realize how deeply food connects to our cultural identity.
The real understanding came when young Emily showed me old family photos. To my surprise, there were pictures of her great-grandparents in China in the 1920s. They wore traditional Chinese clothing and celebrated local festivals with Chinese families. "My great-grandfather always spoke fondly of his time in China," Emily shared.
This discovery changed my perspective completely. I had been focusing on our differences, but here was proof of historical connection. The Thompsons weren't just hosting me; they were continuing a family tradition of cultural exchange.
On my departure day, Mrs. Thompson gave me a precious gift—a Chinese teacup her grandmother had brought back from China nearly a century ago. "This belongs with you," she said warmly. "It's time for it to return home."
Now, whenever I use that teacup, I remember that true cultural understanding comes from recognizing connections that already exist across time and distance.
How did the author feel about English food initially?
A. Strange and different
B. Familiar and homelike
C. Completely comfortable
D. Superior to Chinese food
What surprised the author about the Thompson family?
A. Their modern lifestyle
B. Their historical connection to China
C. Their large family size
D. Their expensive possessions
What changed the author's perspective?
A. Learning English customs
B. Discovering the family's China connection
C. Making local friends
D. Visiting famous landmarks
Why was the teacup gift significant?
A. It was very valuable
B. It symbolized returning home
C. It proved Mrs. Thompson's wealth
D. It was a common English souvenir
B篇
24. A
27. B
详解:文章第五段中,汤普森太太赠送茶杯时说:“This belongs with you… It’s time for it to return home.”(这属于你……
C
The famous quote, “Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are,” goes beyond nutrition. It serves as a key to unlocking cultural identity. This concept is vividly illustrated through the lens of Chinese cuisine, revealing how food acts as both a reflection and a transmitter of cultural values across communities and generations.
Before experiencing China, the author knew only Americanized versions like General Tso’s chicken—a sweet, fried dish. While not authentic, this adaptation reveals American cultural traits: a preference for bold, simple flavors and an innovative spirit. In China, food became a cultural map. In Shandong, the communal making of boiled dumplings reflected the deep value placed on family unity. In northern Xinjiang, the traditional roasted meats of nomadic groups like the Kazakhs narrated a history of life on the open range, where food preservation methods like drying and roasting were born from necessity. Each region’s signature dish, from Guangdong’s delicate dim sum to Henan’s hearty noodles, acted as a unique dialect in the language of local culture, carrying stories of geography, climate, and historical exchange.
Thus, cuisine and culture are inextricably linked. What is grown, cooked, and shared tells the story of a people’s environment, history, and social values. To truly know a culture, one must taste it. This idea also resonates in modern life. Faced with health debates, individuals like Mei Lin and Su Bo choose fresh food over processed options, seeing diet as a conscious choice for well-being and an active lifestyle. Their decisions show that “what we eat” continues to define “who we are” and how we wish to live, blending ancient cultural wisdom with contemporary personal values in every meal we choose.
28. What cultural traits does Americanized General Tso’s chicken reveal according to the author?
A. A preference for light and natural flavors.
B. A strict adherence to traditional cooking methods.
C. An enjoyment of bold tastes and a creative approach to food.
D. A deep understanding and respect for authentic Chinese cuisine.
29. Based on the description of food in northern Xinjiang, what can we infer about the relationship between lifestyle and cuisine?
A. People there prefer imported food to local traditional food.
B. The local cuisine is simple because of a lack of cooking ingredients.
C. Modern lifestyle has completely replaced traditional cooking methods there.
D. Traditional dishes like roasted meat are closely tied to the historical nomadic way of life.
30. What does the author mean by describing regional dishes as “a unique dialect in the language of local culture” in Paragraph 2?
A. Local dishes use secret recipes that are hard to learn.
B. Food names change frequently, just like spoken dialects.
C. Only local people can cook their traditional dishes correctly.
D. Each dish carries specific cultural information about its place of origin.
31. Which of the following best summarizes the main argument of the passage?
A. Traditional food is always healthier than modern processed food.
B. Food is a powerful cultural symbol reflecting identity and personal choices.
C. The primary purpose of food is to provide nutrition for survival.
D. American food culture is superior because it is innovative.
C篇
28. C
详解:原文第二段在描述美式左宗棠鸡时提到,它虽然不地道,但“reveals American cultural traits: a preference for bold, simple flavors and an innovative spirit”(揭示了美国文化特征:偏好浓烈简单的口味和创新的精神)。选项C“An enjoyment of bold tastes and a creative approach to food”(享受大胆口味和对食物的创造性方法)完美概括了这两点。
29. D
D“Traditional dishes like roasted meat are closely tied to the historical nomadic way of life”(像烤肉这样的传统菜肴与历史上的游牧生活方式紧密相连)正是对此的准确推断。
30. D
B“Food is a powerful cultural symbol reflecting identity and personal choices”(食物是反映身份和个人选择的有力文化象征)最全面、准确地概括了这一核心论点。
D
Household burns are a prevalent injury, yet misconceptions about their immediate treatment persist. A team of medical researchers recently conducted a systematic investigation to clarify the most effective first-aid procedures, moving beyond anecdotal advice to evidence-based recommendations. Their work sheds light on the critical minutes following a burn injury.
The researchers began by establishing a clear framework for understanding burns themselves. Using a sophisticated layered model that mimicked human skin, they applied controlled heat to simulate various injury conditions. Brief, moderate exposure produced damage confined to the surface layer—characterized by redness and mild pain—matching the clinical profile of a first-degree burn. More intense or prolonged heat penetrated deeper, causing blistering and severe pain indicative of second-degree damage. The most severe exposure resulted in full-thickness destruction of the skin layers, with a loss of sensation in the deepest areas, accurately modeling a third-degree burn. This foundational step confirmed that burn depth is directly related to the energy and duration of the heat source.
The core of the investigation focused on the crucial initial intervention. The team compared several common first-aid responses on simulated minor burns. The most effective method proved to be the immediate application of cool running water for a sustained period. This protocol rapidly dissipated residual heat from the tissue, halting the progression of the injury and alleviating simulated pain signals. In contrast, direct application of ice, while cooling, proved less efficient at heat removal and carried a risk of causing additional cold damage to the vulnerable tissue. Perhaps most notably, the application of common household substances like oils or butter was shown to be actively detrimental. These substances formed an insulating layer, trapping heat within the wound and potentially exacerbating tissue damage, a finding that challenges several traditional home remedies.
Following effective cooling, the researchers turned their attention to the next step: protecting the injured area. They compared leaving a cooled, simulated second-degree burn exposed versus covering it gently with a sterile, non-adherent material. The covered wounds maintained a more stable environment for healing, showing significantly reduced markers for potential infection and better moisture retention compared to their exposed counterparts, which were more susceptible to contamination and drying.
The collective findings from these experiments converge on a clear, actionable protocol. For minor burns, swift cooling with running water is paramount. This should be followed by gentle drying and protection with a clean covering. The research underscores that such timely and correct first aid can profoundly influence healing trajectories. However, it also reinforces a critical boundary: for severe burns involving deep tissue destruction, immediate professional medical care is non-negotiable, as the damage extends far beyond what first aid can address.
32. What was the main objective of the initial experiment with the skin model?
A. To prove that all burn injuries require hospital treatment.
B. To create a new material for treating serious burn injuries.
C. To measure the exact temperature that causes skin damage.
D. To demonstrate how heat exposure relates to burn severity levels.
33. What did the study find about using oils on burn wounds?
A. They can protect the wound from airborne bacteria.
B. They help to regenerate damaged skin cells quickly.
C. They might make the injury worse by retaining heat.
D. They work as effectively as cold water treatment for burns.
34. Based on the research, what should you do first for a fresh steam burn?

B. Use butter to cover the burn area without delay.
C. Cool the burn with running water for some time.
D. Apply ice directly to the injured area immediately.
35. What is the main conclusion of this research?
A. Burn severity depends solely on the heat source type.
B. Traditional home treatments for burns are always reliable.
C. Covering burns has no real benefit for the healing process.
D. Proper first aid greatly impacts recovery from minor burns.
D篇
32. D
该段最后一句总结道:“This foundational step confirmed that burn depth is directly related to the energy and duration of the heat source.”(这一基础步骤证实了烧伤深度与热源的能量和持续时间直接相关。)
33. C
详解:文章第三段在讨论家庭疗法时明确指出,使用油或黄油“was shown to be actively detrimental”(被证明是有害的),因为它们会形成“an insulating layer, trapping heat within the wound”(一个隔热层,将热量困在伤口内),从而可能加重组织损伤。选项C“They might make the injury worse by retaining heat”(它们可能因保留热量而使伤势恶化)是对此发现的准确描述。
34. C
详解:研究核心发现是,对于轻微烧伤,最有效的急救方法是“the immediate application of cool running water for a sustained period”(立即用流动的凉水持续冲洗一段时间),如第三、四段所述。
35. D
详解:文章最后一段总结了研究的核心结论:“The research underscores that such timely and correct first aid can profoundly influence healing trajectories.”(研究强调,这样及时和正确的急救能深刻影响愈合进程。) D“Proper first aid greatly impacts recovery from minor burns”(正确的急救对轻微烧伤的恢复有很大影响)。

C. It builds independence and resilience.
D. Domestic education is a viable option.
E. Adapting to new academic systems is tough.
F. Such journeys promote cross-cultural understanding.
G. This real example shows growth through challenges.
36. A
详解:空格位于首句之后,且后一句“This essay will present different views on the matter.”(本文将就此问题提出不同观点。) A“The trend causes discussion.”(这一趋势引发了讨论。)
B“Financial pressure is a major concern.”(经济压力是一个主要关切。)
D“Domestic education is a viable option.”(国内教育是一个可行的选择。)
C“It builds independence and resilience.”(它能培养独立性和韧性。)
G“This real example shows growth through challenges.”(这个真实的例子展示了通过挑战获得成长。)

此处强调空间的“可利用性”和“可达性”,accessible(可进入的,可使用的)最贴切。commercial(商业的)和dangerous(危险的)意思不符,restricted(受限制的)与“安全玩耍”的语境矛盾。
43. A
这是一个折中的方案,compromise(折中方案)准确。donation(捐赠)、protest(抗议)、celebration(庆祝)均不符合上下文。
44. B
allocated(分配)是正确选项。reduced(减少)、rejected(拒绝)、returned(归还)均不符合“支持”的积极语境。
45. C
gathering(聚集)符合语境。refusing(拒绝)、hesitating(犹豫)是消极行为,intending(打算)表示意图而非正在进行的动作。
46. A
gradually(逐渐地)符合事物发展的自然过程。suddenly(突然地)与“As weeks passed”矛盾,finally(最终)强调结果但忽略过程,rarely(很少)意思不符。
47. B

49. A
satisfaction(满足)符合积极的情感体验。confusion(困惑)、disappointment(失望)、anxiety(焦虑)都是消极情绪,与上下文不符。
50. A
created(创造)呼应了花园带来的积极变化。forgotten(遗忘)、destroyed(破坏)是消极的,discovered(发现)暗示关系已存在而非新建。
51. A
spirit(精神)常与社区、团队相连,符合语境。wealth(财富)、freedom(自由)、knowledge(知识)与“touched them deeply”(深深触动他们)的情感内涵不够贴合。
52. B
individual(个人的)与社区项目不符,professional(专业的)、commercial(商业的)未被强调。
53. A
businesses(企业)符合逻辑。professionals(专业人士)、volunteers(志愿者)、experts(专家)通常不以机构形式进行物资捐赠。
55. A
natural(自然的)最直接,因为花园本身就是自然元素。traditional(传统的)稍显宽泛,concrete(具体的;混凝土的)有双关但不如自然贴切,modern(现代的)与恢复旧花园的举动相悖。

Mr. Griffin's history class was known for its difficult final exams. This year, he announced a unique assignment: "Trace an object through history and present its story." While others chose famous artifacts like ancient coins or wartime letters displayed in museums, Clara found herself drawn to the worn, cloth-bound recipe book that had sat on her grandmother's kitchen shelf for as long as she could remember. It had belonged to her great-grandmother, Eleanor.
The fragile, yellowed pages contained handwritten recipes from the 1930s, but it was the marginalia that truly fascinated Clara. Neat, cursive notes documented small family triumphs and hardships—"Made this for Clara's christening, May 1932," or "Sugar rationed, used honey instead, November 1943." Her grandmother, seeing Clara's interest, had softly explained, "During the Depression and the war, food wasn't just food. It was how we held onto joy, how we showed love when we had little else to give. This book," she said, tapping the cover, "holds more than recipes. It holds our resilience."
Inspired, Clara decided her presentation wouldn't just describe the book—she would interact with history. She chose to recreate a simple "Depression Cake" from a 1935 recipe, one that used no eggs, butter, or milk—ingredients often scarce. As she carefully measured vinegar and oil (substitutes for the missing dairy), and stirred in raisins for precious sweetness, she felt a profound connection to the women in her family who had done the same. She documented her baking process, contrasting the "making do" philosophy of the past with today's abundance.
On presentation day, her classmates displayed impressive artifacts. One had a Civil War-era compass, another an original poster from World War II. When it was Clara's turn, she placed her humble, plainly frosted cake on the demonstration table. A few students in the back exchanged amused glances, and a soft chuckle rippled through the room at this simple, edible project compared to the tangible relics of wars and exploration. But Clara began not by describing the cake, but by reading the notes beside its recipe. She read about birthday celebrations during power outages, about weddings where this cake was the only dessert, about how the smell of it baking meant hope during bleak times. As her quiet voice filled the room, the chuckles subsided, replaced by a rapt, respectful silence.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;

24. How did the author feel about English food initially?
A. Strange and different B. Familiar and homelike
C. Completely comfortable D. Superior to Chinese food
25. What surprised the author about the Thompson family?
A. Their modern lifestyle B. Their historical connection to China
C. Their large family size D. Their expensive possessions
26. What changed the author's perspective?
A. Learning English customs B. Discovering the family's China connection
C. Making local friends D. Visiting famous landmarks
27. Why was the teacup gift significant?
A. It was very valuable B. It symbolized returning home
C. It proved Mrs. Thompson's wealth D. It was a common English souvenir
A. Leave the burn uncovered to dry out naturally.

A. Strange and different
B. Familiar and homelike
C. Completely comfortable
D. Superior to Chinese food
What surprised the author about the Thompson family?
A. Their modern lifestyle
B. Their historical connection to China
C. Their large family size
D. Their expensive possessions
What changed the author's perspective?

B. Discovering the family's China connection
C. Making local friends
D. Visiting famous landmarks
Why was the teacup gift significant?
A. It was very valuable
B. It symbolized returning home
C. It proved Mrs. Thompson's wealth
D. It was a common English souvenir

A. Leave the burn uncovered to dry out naturally.
