On April 19th, a pottery (陶器) exhibition was held at Wuhan Optical Valley Experimental School. Many pieces of pottery in different sizes were shown at the school. Some were a bit broken, but all of them were beautiful works of art created by the students.
At the end of last year, the school started a project that called on teachers to collect disused or broken pieces of pottery from the countryside. So far, they have collected about 3,000 pieces.
“Pottery used to play an important role in the daily lives of Chinese people,” the school head Ma Guoxin told the reporter. “By pottery painting, the students can improve themselves in many ways. If you’ve ever walked through fog, you might have noticed that your skin and hair get wet. This is because fog is made of tiny water drops. Scientists are helping people collect these drops to make drinking water. In some towns, there is no fresh water. People there have to use trucks to carry fresh water. It is expensive. Since rain falls to the ground, it can easily be collected into tanks. But the water drops that make up fog don’t hit the ground. Instead, they float in the air. To turn fog into water, you have to catch the water drops.
A fog catcher is made of nets with two posts. The nets are usually set up on the top of hill. As fog passes by, the nets catch the water drops. The drops run down the nets and into channels (水槽). The channels lead the water into large tanks where it can be stored. A fog catcher can collect 10,000 liters of water a day. Scientists have helped set up fog catchers for towns in Chile, Nepal and Mexico.
Fog catchers are a great way for people in small and lonely towns to have their own fresh water. Centuries before scientists created fog-catching nets, nature was making fog into water on its own. As fog passed through the mountains, large leaves got the drops just like the nets do. People learned to drink the water collected on the leaves. For as long as we can remember, one of the most popular ways parents use to punish their children has been the “time out”. It seems that it is a good idea: the child sits on his own to reflect (反思) on what he has done. Then, when the time is up, he will apologize and learn from the mistake.
However, just because it’s something that’s been done for years, that doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do. In fact, very often, children don’t sit nicely and think about what they’ve done. Instead, they need to be told a few or many times to go back to their places and stay quiet. They are not reflecting on why they are in the “time out” at all. More likely than not, they’re probably just really angry, and so are the parents. In the end, both the parents and the children make each other unhappy, or even angry.
What can parents do to change this situation? You may have already heard of things like peaceful parenting (育儿) and gentle parenting. These focus on the relationship between parent and child by building trust and love. So, instead of starting a “time out”, try something called “time in”. A “time in” needs both the parent and the child to stay close until both get calm. After that, the parent and the child can discuss what happened and solve the problem together. If the child can make changes, everyone can then move on.
As we all know, punishment and violence (暴力) seldom work and will never teach the children what the right way to act is. A “time in” can be the great time for the children to learn through mistakes. Kids learn how to build their emotional and social skills through difficult situations. So, instead of punishing them for acting their age, we can use chances to teach and guide them to a place of learning. A “time in” may take more time, but it does work.
46. During a “time out”, a child is told to ________.
A. stay outside B. make a promise C. sit alone and reflect D. return to school
47. In the writer’s opinion, a “time out” ________.
A. is becoming more popular B. doesn’t always work
C. should be parents’ first choice D. takes too much time
48. When a child has done something wrong, the writer suggests that ________.
A. both teachers and parents discuss how to solve the problem
B. parents try something called “time in” instead of “time out”
C. the child say sorry to his or her parents and learn from mistakes
D. the child stay at home and reflect until he never makes mistakes

Hanfu fashion has become more and more popular with young people. China has followed Western fashion designs in recent years, but a growing number of young people are now looking to the past for fashion ideas.
If you look closely around your city, you might notice hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han dynasty. In a recently published report by an online shopping platform, about 2 million hanfu clothes were sold in 2020, nearly 4 times as many as those sold in 2019. Most of the buyers are between 19 and 24 years old.
But why has this traditional clothing become popular with young Chinese people? For some of them, it’s a costume for relaxation. Dafan, a 24-year-old college student, told CGTN that dressing in hanfu is a way for her to get away from the troubles of real life. Modern clothing, on the other hand, represents the identity (身份) people need to show every day. “Hanfu and modern clothing help me to show the different sides in me,” she said.
Other teenagers like hanfu because of the culture behind it. They see it as a way to reconnect (重新连接) with traditions. Its wide sleeves, crossed collars (领口) and flowing robes (飘逸的长袍) bring people back to ancient times.

阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题后面的词数要求)。
Usually, we only think about our relationships with other humans. Have we ever thought more about our relationship with animals? Have we ever thought about how animals feel?
Richard Louv is a writer. He wrote a new book called Our Wild Calling: How Connecting With Animals Can Change Our Lives—And Save Theirs. In the book, Louv says that animals have the feelings just like humans. Also, he especially mentions that people need to have a stronger connect ion with animals.
In Louv’s opinion, people spend a lot of time looking at screens nowadays. They do online shopping, watch online movies and check online emails. They can do almost everything online. Then, people are less connected to animals or to nature and Louv thinks it is the reason why people have “human loneliness”. Human loneliness is a kind of feeling when people feel lonely and it is bad for people’s health.
Louv thinks people need to return to nature. People can keep pets. Louv says our relationship with animals is deep. It’s more than shared DNA. People can try to protect animals. It’s part of how humans protect themselves. In his book, Louv says people need to change how they interact (互动) with nature.

They can better understand the history of the pottery, put their creativity into the pottery and show the love for life and beauty.”
Students turned the pottery into different works of art. They were all encouraged to paint pictures on the pottery, even though some students didn’t know how to paint. In March, the school held a pottery painting competition. Wang Zixuan, a student from Grade Eight, with little knowledge of painting, painted a beautiful night scenery on a piece of pottery. It was so nice that many students loved it.
Almost every classroom has colored pieces of pottery. They are either used as flowerpots or pen containers (笔筒). The school has also set up several art corners to show the pottery. For example, the students have put some pottery on bookcases outside of a lecture hall. It has become an enjoyable place for students to rest and read.

Thanks to modern fog catchers, enough water can be made for a whole town.

“Hanfu is a symbol of the Chinese traditional culture.” Nanhe, a 21-year-old costume studio owner, told CGTN.
