The production of the electric batteries requires lithium (锂). A large amount of energy is used on mining and processing this metal. Meanwhile, the electricity by which electric cars are powered is mainly from burning coal or gas. All of these contribute to carbon emissions. Consequently, electric cars aren't really green.
