【答案】One possible version:
She jumped onto her chair as she screamed in horror. A few girls held their breath in shock and some rushed out of the classroom. The other classmates and I burst into laughter. I thought, “Serve you right, Jane! You should not have told Ms Tan about what we did!” “Silence!” Ms Tan shouted, glaring at all of us. Silence filled the classroom. “Who did this?” Seeing Jane still standing on her chair, her eyes widened and face pale, I felt regretful for what I had done suddenly.
Gathering all my courage, I decided to tell the truth. “…I did… it,” I said in a low voice. Ms Tan criticized me and commanded me to apologize and take back the frog. Following my lead, John and Tom stood up and apologized too. Fortunately, Jane forgave us willingly. I breathed a sigh of relief. That day, regret welled up within me as I thought about the prank I had played on poor Jane. My heart sank with guilt over how Jane had easily and kindly forgiven us. I realized that we should not have played a prank on such a kind girl.

Peter loves baseball. Last summer, he helped to coach a school baseball team. When he first watched the team of 12-year-olds play baseball, his first impressions (印象) were not really positive.
Some players often left as soon as they started losing. Other players paid too much attention to all their mistakes during the game or preferred to dig up the grass when they weren’t in the play. A lot of boys threw their baseball bats when they lost the catch.
While their baseball skills improved over time with more practice, there were still problems. The team had a long way to go. For example, some boys were hard on those who made mistakes. Instead of being supportive or encouraging, they blamed (责怪) each other.
Peter started one-on-one talks with each player to discuss things that he had noticed. Some were about skills like holding the bat up higher or opening their eyes when they were making a catch. But most were about staying positive and supporting each other.
Things began to change slowly. The boys began to take the duties for their play instead of blaming others for mistakes. They stayed positive even when losing. The team culture was improving.
Players began encouraging each other, high-fiving and supporting teammates. Peter was especially pleased to see some of the boys taking leadership (领导) roles and having their own one-on-one talks with their teammates.
Peter didn’t think he made huge progress in teaching the boys how to throw, catch or hit better, but he was pleased that their conversations around the character led to something positive. Although the team still lost games, their character became stronger. Next season, their character will be tested again.
24.Which is one of the negative behaviors the players showed when Peter first watched them?
A.They gave up when they started losing.
B.They refused to practice baseball skills.
C.They paid no attention to their teammates.
D.They argued with the coach during games.
25.What was the main focus of Peter’s one-on-one talks with the players?
A.Improving baseball techniques.
B.Keeping a positive attitude.
C.Blaming players for their mistakes.
D.Making plans to win more games.
26.How did the players themselves help improve the team culture?
A.By studying other teams’ game videos.
B.By practicing baseball skills every night.
C.By encouraging and supporting each other.
D.By asking Peter to punish players who played poorly.
27.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Team Success: Improved Baseball Skills
B.The Real Progress: Stronger Character
C.Team Culture: Ending Teammate Blame
D.Player Growth: Taking Leadership Roles

People who often eat nuts appear to live longer, according to the latest study of its kind. The findings, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, suggested the greatest benefit was in those eating them on their daily diet.
Eating nuts was linked to a healthier lifestyle including being less likely to smoke or be overweight and more likely to exercise. The British Heart Foundation said more research was needed to prove the link, “While this is an interesting link, we need further research to make sure if it's the nuts that protect heart health, or other sides of people’s lifestyle .”
The study followed nearly 120,000 people for 30 years. The more regularly people ate nuts, the less likely they were to die during the study. People eating nuts once a week were 11% less likely to have died during the study than those who never ate nuts. Lead researcher Dr. Charles Fuchs, from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, said, “The most obvious benefit was a decrease of 29%in deaths from heart disease, but we also saw a significant reduction-11%- in the danger of dying from cancer.”
They suggest nuts are lowering cholesterol(胆固醇) and insulin resistance(胰岛素抗性). Nuts contain protein(蛋白质) and several kinds of vitamins and minerals and they can take the place of snacks like chocolate bars, cakes and biscuits.
Victoria Taylor, senior expert at the British Heart Foundation, said, “This study shows close connection between regularly eating a small handful of nuts and a lower risk of death from heart disease.” Choosing plain, unsalted foods rather than sweet, salted, or chocolate-covered will keep your salt and sugar intake down.
28.According to the passage, what kind of people benefit most from eating nuts?
A.Those who eat most nuts at a time.
B.Those who eat most nuts.
C.Those who eat nuts on their daily diet.
D.Those who eat less nuts.
29.Which kind of disease had a most decrease for regular nuts eater?
A.Cancer. B.Heart disease.
C.Stomach disease. D.Unknown.
30.The writer developed the article mainly by .

31.Which section should the passage be taken from the newspaper?
A.Science section. B.Health section.

Have you ever been to the beach? Did you see a man with a headset pointing a long stick at the ground? If so you might have seen a person using a metal detector. People use these tools to find metal.
Metal detectors(探测器)make magnetic waves. These waves go through the ground. The waves change when they hit metal. Then the tool makes a short high sound. This lets the person with the tool know that metal is close.
The first metal detectors were meant to help miners to dig out minerals such as coal and gold from the earth. They were big and cost a lot of money. They used a lot of power. And worst of all, they didn't work well. People kept trying to make them better.
Metal detectors got smaller. Now they are light and cheap. They also work better. That why people bring them to the beach. They can look for rings in the water or phone in the sand. Metal detectors help them find these things.
Metal detectors also protect people. They help to keep guns out of some places. Guards use special thin sticks to look for knives, guns or metal on a person.
These tools save lives in other ways too. During wars, soldiers plant bombs in the ground, When the war ends, they don't clean them up. This is unsafe for the people who live in those places. So they use metal detectors to find bombs and remove them.
These tools also make clothes safer. It sounds funny, but it's true. Most clothes are made in big factories. Needles are easy to break and get stuck in the clothes. They would hurt people. So our clothes are examined carefully by metal detectors.
Let's hear it for metal detectors. They make the world a safe place.
32.What does the second paragraph mainly talk about?
A.How metal detectors work. B.Why magnetic waves change.
C.The danger of metal detectors. D.The sounds of a metal detector.
33.What were the first metal detectors used for?
A.Removing bombs. B.Finding needles in the clothes.
C.Looking for minerals. D.Searching for dangerous things.
34.According to the passage, metal detectors can make people feel ______.
A.nervous B.special C.safe D.healthy
35.What is the best title for the passage?
A.Inventor of a Useful Tool B.Usage of Metal Detectors
C.Finding Underground Metals D.Changes of Magnetic Waves

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Have you brought the frog to school?” I whispered excitedly to my friend, John. It was early in the morning and my friends, John, Tom and I were already in school, discussing the prank(恶作剧)we were going to play on our class monitor, Jane. Laughing quietly, John reached for his bag, opened the bag and showed us the frog in his bag. Tom and I couldn't hold back the laughter, thinking about what would happen.
Ring! As soon as the bell rang, other students, including Jane, hurried out of the classroom. We had planned to put a frog in Jane's bag and scare her for telling Ms Tan, our headteacher, that we were playing in the classroom when there was no teacher in class. “This should teach her a lesson!” I thought, smiling to myself. Once we were the only ones left in the classroom, I took the frog from John's bag. Surveying around to make sure that no one was walking past our classroom, I put the frog into Jane's bag secretly.

C

“Please take out the homework I assigned you yesterday,” Ms Tan instructed after the break. Everyone started looking through their schoolbags for their homework. Out of the corner of my eye, I spied Jane bending down to open her bag. Glancing over at Tom and John, I saw them covering their mouths, trying to hide their laughter.

【答案】24.A 25.B 26.C 27.B

通读全文,尤其是第四段“Peter started one-on-one talks with each player to discuss things that he had noticed. Some were about skills like holding the bat up higher or opening their eyes when they were making a catch. But most were about staying positive and supporting each other.(彼得开始与每个球员进行一对一的谈话,讨论他注意到的事情。有些是关于技巧,比如把球棒举得更高,或者在接球时睁开眼睛。但大多数都是关于保持积极和相互支持)”和第五段“Things began to change slowly. The boys began to take the duties for their play instead of blaming others for mistakes. They stayed positive even when losing. The team culture was improving.(事情开始慢慢地发生变化。男孩们开始为自己的比赛负起责任,而不是因为错误而责备别人。即使输了,他们也保持乐观。团队文化正在改善)”可知,本文主要讲的是彼得(Peter)去年夏天协助指导一支学校棒球队的经历,核心在于展现他如何通过关注球员的性格品质与心态,而非单纯提升球技,推动球队文化发生积极转变,因此B选项“The Real Progress: Stronger Character(真正的进步:更坚强的性格)”可作为最好的标题,故选B。

These tools also make clothes safer. It sounds funny, but it's true. Most clothes are made in big factories. Needles are easy to break and get stuck in the clothes. They would hurt people. So our clothes are examined carefully by metal detectors.

第二节(满分25分)
“Ahhh! There is a frog in my bag!” Jane screamed as the frog leapt(跳) out of her bag.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【导语】本文以事件发展为线索展开,讲述了作者和朋友们为了报复班长Jane向老师告状,而将一只青蛙放进她的书包里,最终作者意识到自己的错误并向Jane道歉的故事。
