专题04 阅读理解(说明文) 主题01 人与社会——科普知识 Passage 1 (24-25九年级上·广东省广州市番禺区·期末) Every culture in the world has its own style of cooking and eating. Every culture has its own beliefs about what is good to eat and what is not. Many of these food customs started hundreds or even thousands of years ago. The diet of early humans depended on what foods they could get. For example, humans who lived near an ocean relied on the ocean for fish. 1 Over time, these foods became traditional in a culture. About ten thousand years ago, humans learned to farm. These early farmers tamed (驯化) wild cows, goats, and sheep. 2 Slowly, farming spread to other areas. The animals that farmers raised and the crops they planted depended on where they lived. 3 They learned from their neighbours or from travelers. They also learned about new cooking techniques (技巧). Travelers who went to far-away places discovered new foods. Marco Polo, for example, traveled to China and brought noodles back to Italy. Many of the new foods later became part of the traditional diet of some cultures. Cultures also developed their own techniques for eating. Thousands of years ago, people in China began using chopsticks. 4 The first eating tool used in Europe was probably seashell or a piece of wood. Later, sharp and pointed knives were used. 5 They want to make sure that their food traditions are preserved. A.They planted wheat, rice, and other grains. B.Over the years, people learned about new foods. C.They have kept this eating technique and still use them today. D.People are proud of their cultures and enjoy their traditional foods. E.Humans who lived in forest areas ate the animals they hunted. 【答案】1.E 2.A 3.B 4.C 5.D 【导语】本文主要讲述每种文化都有自己的烹饪和饮食风格,每种文化都有自己的饮食信仰,许多这些饮食习俗始于数百年甚至数千年前。 1.根据上文“The diet of early humans depended on what foods they could get.”可知,早期人类的饮食取决于他们能得到什么食物,选项E“生活在森林地区的人类以他们猎杀的动物为食。”符合语境。故选E。 2.根据上文“These early farmers tamed (驯化) wild cows, goats, and sheep.”及下文“Slowly, farming spread to other areas. But when you ask your classmates what they like listening to, you are likely to get many different answers. Why do different people have different musical tastes? Do you know about the reasons? What do these differences say about us? Researchers set out to answer these questions. They surveyed 350, 000 people from 50 different countries. Then, they detected some connections between musical tastes and personality. Outgoing people preferred music with a fast rhythm (节奏), such as rap. Country music lovers were shown to be more responsible. The researchers guessed worried people might like either sad music or rhythmic music. But it turned out that these people liked neither. Instead, they preferred loud and powerful music. The researchers also said that climate might influence people’s musical tastes and personality. People in warmer climate preferred rhythmic music. They were more outgoing. This might be a result of longer daylight hours and warmer evenings. They encouraged people to join in social activities. Of course, we might not divide people simply by their musical tastes. The study just showed us that people from different cultures are more similar than we think. “People are divided by languages and cultures,” said Dr. David Greenberg, “But if an outgoing person in one part of the world likes the same music as outgoing people elsewhere, then we can say that music is really like a powerful bridge.” 6.How does the writer develop Paragraph 1? A.By asking questions. B.By listing numbers. C.By giving examples. D.By telling the truth. 7.What does the underlined word “detected” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Used. B.Discovered. C.Reviewed. D.Avoided. 8.Who might be interested in loud music? A.A lively basketball player from South Africa. B.An outgoing businessman from Switzerland. C.A worried mother from North China. D.A patient clerk from Colombia. 9.Why can music be considered as a powerful bridge for all people? A.Because people from different countries build a bridge to music. B.Because people from different cultures have different tastes of music. C.Because people with different personality prefer the same taste of music. D.Because music is a good way of communication between people with similar personality. 10.What is this passage mainly about? A.The ways to be an outgoing person. B.A study about different kinds of music. C.A survey about how to show your feelings. D.The musical tastes between different people. 【答案】6.A 7.B 8.C 9.D 10.D 【导语】本文是一篇科普说明文,探讨了不同人拥有不同音乐品味的原因。文章指出,研究人员通过大规模调查发现了音乐品味与个性之间的联系,并提出了气候可能影响人们的音乐品味和个性的观点。最后,文章强调尽管音乐品味多样,但不同文化背景的人在某些方面也存在相似性,音乐如同一座强大的桥梁连接着世界各地的人。 6.推理判断题。根据文章第一段“Why do different people have different musical tastes? It’s easy to find a proper place to do plank exercise. You can even do it with a chair! But you need to use a stable chair to make sure your safety. It is dangerous if the chair moves during exercise. Moreover, doing plank exercise regularly may bring you lots of benefits. Performing plank exercise as a daily home exercise before or after school will not only speed up your metabolism (新陈代谢), but also keep your metabolic rate (速率) high all day long. Doing it regularly will make you burn lots of calories (卡路里). This is especially useful if you have to sit in the classroom for hours every day. A high metabolic rate will help you lose weight and keep in good shape. Have you ever tried standing on one leg? You couldn’t stand straight for more than ten seconds on one leg, right? It’s because your muscles (肌肉) aren’t strong enough to give you the balance you need. Doing plank exercise regularly will improve your balance. Stronger muscles will also help you stand straight longer. ▲ Just think about it: You are sitting all day long. Your muscles get tired, and your legs get heavy. Plank exercise will relax the muscle groups that may cause stress in your body. As a result, it can have a powerful and positive effect on our mood. Considering all the benefits of plank exercise, will you make it part of your everyday life? 11.What does the underlined word “stable” mean? A.Not easily moved. B.Not dirty. C.Not common. They do no harm to the environment — they’re part of it,” said Ferdinand Ludvig from the Technical University of Munich. The bridges spread across rivers in India’s Meghalaya area, connecting villages. They’re all “built” from the aerial roots (气根) of the same kind of tree: the Indian rubber tree. Different from bridges made of wood, they aren’t easily washed away and they don’t rot (腐烂)—a common problem in the world’s wettest area. They also last longer than modern bridges that can rot in the wet weather, said Ludvig. Interviews with local people showed us the building process. At first, local people start by planting a young Indian rubber tree on both sides of the river. When the tree’s aerial roots come out, they wrap them around a frame (框架) and direct them to the other side of the river. Once the roots reach the opposite bank, they’re grounded into the earth. Then they develop smaller roots which are directed to the bank. It takes tens of years to build a bridge. Ludvig and his team mapped a total of 74 bridges. While some of the bridges became popular with visitors, seeing up to 2,000 visitors a day, said Ludvig, not all of the bridges they studied were in active use, with some in danger of being cut down for firewood. 16.What does Ludvig think of these bridges in Meghalaya? A.They are environmentally-friendly. B.They are widely studied by researchers. C.They are old and should be replaced. D.They are becoming weaker over time. 17.How are the bridges in Meghalaya different from modern bridges? A.They are longer, providing a solution for traffic. B.They are higher, offering an interesting design. C.They are broken more easily, requiring daily repairs. D.They are fit for the wet weather and mixed with nature. 18.What does the underlined word “process” mean in Paragraph 3? A.Tool. B.Purpose. C.Step. D.Product. 19.What can we know about the bridges in Meghalaya? A.They are designed by Ludvig and his team. B.They can be built quickly and used in a year. C.Some of them drew thousands of visitors a day. D.Most of them are in danger of being cut down. 20.What does the passage mainly talk about? A.The advantages of modern bridges. Modern research has found something amazing: they do communicate with each other. It has been known for some time that plants use chemicals to communicate with each other. This happens when a plant gets attacked by insects. The plant gives out chemicals from the leaves that are being eaten. This is like a warning, or a call for help: “I’m being attacked!” When another plant gets the chemicals, it starts to give out its own, different chemicals. Some of these chemicals drive insects away. Others attract the wasps (黄蜂)! The wasps kill the insects that are eating the plants. Scientists hope to learn more about this plant warning system, so that we can use it to grow more crops. More surprisingly, plants also use sound to communicate. People can’t hear these sounds; but plants are making them. Some plants make noises with their roots. Corn and chili plants do this. Some trees make clicking noises when there is not enough water. Most surprisingly of all, plants have an amazing system of communication that can link nearly every plant in a forest. Scientists call this system the “wood wide web”. The wood wide web is linked underground by fungi (真菌). It links the roots of different plants to each other. It is in some ways similar to the Internet we use. Using the wood wide web, plants can share information and even food with each other. However, it may lead to bad effects. Plants may use it to steal food from each other, or spread chemicals to attack other plants. Perhaps one day scientists will learn how to create a “firewall” to help prevent these attacks within the wood wide web. Scientists are learning more every day about the secret ways in which plants talk to each other. Maybe one day we will know enough about plant communication to be able to “talk” with them ourselves. 1.What will plants do when they are attacked by insects? A.They will kill the insects by themselves. B.They will control the wasps to kill the insects. C.They will drive the insects away by themselves. D.They will produce chemicals as a warning or call for help. 2.How is the wood wide web linked by fungi? A.By making noises with their roots. B.By connecting the roots of different plants to each other. C.By sharing food and information with each other. D.By spreading chemicals to each other. 3.What is the writer’s intention of the last paragraph? A.To give people hope for further studies. B.To praise scientists for their great achievements. C.To call on people to protect the plants on Earth. D.To inspire people to communicate with plants. 4.What is the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 5.Which is the best title for the passage? A.The Secret Language of Plants B.The Study about the Plant Warning System C.The Plants that Give Warnings D.Why Scientists Do Research about Plants 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.A 4.B 5.A 【导语】本文主要讲述了植物之间进行交流的秘密方式。 1.细节理解题。根据“It has been known for some time that plants use chemicals to communicate with each other. A book introducing the city’s 96 species (物种) of wild orchids was published by Shenzhen Orchid Conservation and Research Centre at the beginning of 2021. The researchers in the centre spent two years finishing and publishing the book. Shenzhen started recording species of wild orchids in 1983. Information and pictures of the 96 species discovered in the city were all included in the book. Several of the valuable pictures were provided by local plant lovers. Chen Jianbing, director of the city’s orchid conservation and research centre, said that the book reflects the situation of wild orchids to some degree in the region. He said the book was a good example of the city’s improvement in environmental protection, adding that it was important for protecting and researching wild orchids. Orchids are of high value for medicine, food and decoration. The plants are considered as the “panda of the plant field” in China but illegal harvesting and pollution to the environment in recent years have influenced the growth of wild orchids. There are orchids growing in greenhouses and orchids growing in the wild. The former look the same in size and appearance but the latter are much cheaper. For most people, they prefer to buy more affordable ones. However, it’s illegal to sell or buy wild orchids. By publishing the book, the centre plans to improve the protection of orchids and spread the knowledge of the flowers to people so as to encourage them to pay more attention to wild orchids. 11.What can we know about the book? But there’s another important key which is often forgotten by us. That is having those meals at the right time. Understanding the science behind meal timing can have a huge influence on your health. More research is showing that correct mealtime might help people lose weight and reduce risks of disease. According to the experts, “It’ s about the when, rather than the what.” Incorrect mealtimes can be against all the advantages of your healthy diet. In addition, each of us needs a given amount of energy each day. This energy is produced from the grains, proteins, and fats that we take in. When we fail to eat adequately through the day (for example, only one or two meals), it can be challenging to meet our energy needs. There are different ways to have a meal plan that makes you feel your best. The list below may be a good place to start. ●6:00-9:45 a. m. Break your fast. This window is the perfect time to have breakfast. Think of a breakfast that includes healthy fat and protein like eggs, cheese, or plant seeds and so on. ●10:00-11:00 a. m. Snack it up. Given breakfast has now been a few hours ago and lunch still feels light years away. Having something light but tasty is wonderful. Pick an apple or some pine nuts (坚果). The high-fiber and high-protein snack is helpful to stop you from feeling hungry. ●1:00 p. m. Lunch Break. Work and study tasks can make you have lunch later or even forget it. But waiting until later in the afternoon or evening could lead to eating too much and making less healthy choices. Research supports eating an earlier lunch. ●3:00 - 4:00 p. m. Snack again. As with your morning snack, a high-fiber and high-protein snack is a good choice. ●6:30 p. m. Dinnertime. Research supports having dinner at 6-7 p. m. Eating an earlier dinner and getting away from late night (10 p. m. and after) meal can help you sleep better. A dinner that is high in fiber and low in fat can help you fall asleep faster and increase your time in dreamland. 1.What’s the writer’s opinion on correct mealtime? Ten percent of the water consumed (消耗) in Mexico City comes from this area, and it is also home to the monarch butterfly. Every year, it receives around 2 million visitors. Tourists are drawn to the region for its forests, waterfalls and lakes. As a child, Cruz Avila used to walk through the forests every day. She always picked wood and medicinal plants. She also learned to find birds and identify different trees near her home. Avila believed that listening to a waterfall is good medicine for the tired body. In recent years, residents (居民) of the forest communities suffered from tourism that’s not environmentally friendly. Some visitors have damaged forests and lakes there. One of the affected lakes is EI Sumidero, which is home to crayfish and other animals. For this reason, in 2021, the local people created an organization to deal with these damaging activities in the forests. They designed a tourism plan for the protection of their forests. Avila said her community, San Miguel Tenextepec, has developed a sustainable tourism plan based on hiking and workshops. They also planned to have a viewing platform ready by 2023. As for Avila, she planned to start developing her hiking project. “I’m going to take visitors to a place called EI Caballero. In addition, I’ll offer them a workshop to make wine and bread.” she said. “To us, forests are our home. We want to take care of them as we take care of our home. Some feel calmer in green spaces, while others feel happier near the sea. A new study suggests that this connection to nature might have to do with people’s childhood. It could affect how much they care about the environment when they are older. Researchers in Austria wanted to know what made people more likely to protect the environment. They did a survey with 2,370 adult volunteers. ▲ The questions included how often they spent time in green and blue spaces and how close they felt to nature. The researchers especially wanted to know how often these people visited places like rivers or the sea as children. The study found something interesting. People who spent a lot of time near water as children felt more connected to nature when they grew up. They also spend a lot of time in both green and blue spaces now. The researchers think that spending time in blue spaces as a child might make someone care more about the environment when they are older. The researchers also found that men spend more time in green spaces, while women do more things to preserve the environment, like recycling or using less electricity. They hope to find a stronger connection between spending time near water as a child and caring more about the environment later in life. If they can make it, it might help solve environmental problems in the future. 6.Which of the following can be put “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 2? A.The volunteers felt quite happy when they did the survey. B.The volunteers spent more time in blue and green spaces. C.They showed great interest in the topic about environment. D.They asked the volunteers about their environmental habits. 7.Who probably care more about the environment according to Paragraph 3? A.Adults who liked green and blue in childhood. B.Adults who often got close to nature in childhood. C.Parents who often take their children to draw pictures. D.Parents who spend much time near the rivers with kids. 8.What does the underlined word “preserve” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.Create. B.Protect. C.Pollute. D.Challenge. 9.What might the researchers do next according to the passage? A.Write a report about how to enjoy nature. B.Do a new survey on environmental problems. C.Find the differences on environmental behaviors between men and women. D.Explore a stronger connection between childhood's experience and nature care. 10.Which of the following can be the best title for the text? Normally green leaves turn into red, orange, yellow, and finally brown. This is called “leaf phenology (生物气候学)”, and many people look forward to it every year. However, due to climate change, autumn is changing. According to a study published earlier this year in a journal, the season length is growing, meaning that it is taking longer for leaves to change their colors. And this is not the only way that climate change is ruining the season. “Trees are holding onto their leaves longer,” explained Dr. Howard Diamond, a senior climate scientist. “In my own neighborhood, I can remember that the leaves would drop a lot sooner 20 years ago than they do now. This is a personal observation, but research actually supports this phenomenon (现象) we’re witnessing.” Climate change isn’t just causing the leaves to change later. We can also expect later frosts (霜) according to Dr. Michael E. Mann, a professor of the University of Pennsylvania. Mann said, “That means mosquitoes and pests (害虫) remain active for a longer time in autumn, posing a greater health risk to human beings.” If there is any good news at all, though, we may be able to stave off this development. Mann pointed out that if humans reduce their carbon dioxide emissions (排放), they can still prevent the worst effects of climate change from affecting them during the autumn months. “A new study recently provides further evidence that surface warming will likely stop after carbon emissions reach zero,” Mann stated in his recent comment for Live Science. 11.Which of the following is one of the effects of climate change on autumn? A.The season length is becoming shorter. B.Leaves are changing their colors earlier. C.Leaves are staying on the trees for a longer time. D.There are more frosts in autumn. 12.What can we infer from Dr. Michael E. Mann’s words in paragraph 4? A.Mosquitoes will disappear completely if there are earlier frosts. B.Later frosts in autumn are beneficial to people’s health. C.People should take measures to kill mosquitoes and pests in autumn. D.The longer mosquitoes and pests are active, the more dangerous it is for people. 13.What does underlined phrase “stave off” probably mean in paragraph 5? A.Make something happen faster. B.Stop something from happening. C.Let something develop naturally. D.Start something from the beginning. 14.What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage? A.To tell readers about the beautiful colors of autumn. B.To introduce the research of Dr. Howard Diamond and Dr. Michael E. Mann. C.To show how climate change is affecting autumn. D.To draw people’s attention to environmental protection. 【答案】11.C 12.D 13.B 14.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了气候变化对秋季的影响,包括树叶变色时间延长、霜冻时间推迟以及由此带来的健康风险等,同时也提出了通过减少二氧化碳排放来减缓这种影响的建议。 11.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Trees are holding onto their leaves longer”可知,气候变化导致树叶在树上停留的时间更长。故选C。 12.推理判断题。根据文章第四段“That means mosquitoes and pests remain active for a longer time in autumn, posing a greater health risk to human beings”可知,蚊子和其他害虫在秋天保持活跃的时间更长,这对人类健康构成了更大的威胁,由此可推断出,蚊子和其他害虫活跃的时间越长,对人们来说就越危险。故选D。 13.词句猜测题。根据文章第五段“Mann pointed out that if humans reduce their carbon dioxide emissions, they can still prevent the worst effects of climate change from affecting them during the autumn months”可知,如果人类减少二氧化碳排放,仍然可以防止气候变化的最坏影响在秋季月份影响到他们,由此可推断出,如果采取措施,是有可能阻止气候变化在秋季带来的不良影响的,所以“stave off”的意思是“阻止某事发生”。故选B。 14.主旨大意题。根据文章第一段“However, due to climate change, autumn is changing”以及后文对气候变化如何影响秋季的具体描述可知,作者写这篇文章的目的是展示气候变化如何影响秋季。故选C。 主题03 人与社会——旅行 Passage 1 (24-25九年级上·广东省广州市惠东县·期末) Deserts (沙漠) are usually known for being very hot, dry, and hard to live in. Passage 2 (24-25九年级上·广东省汕头市澄海区·期末) Most people enjoy listening to music. Passage 3 (24-25九年级上·广东省佛山市部分学校·期末) In recent years, plank exercise (平板支撑) has become more and more popular. B.The benefits of regular plank exercise. C.The growing popularity of plank exercise. D.Common mistakes in doing plank exercise. Passage 4 (24-25九年级上·广东省东莞南城区部分学校·期末) Researchers say these little-studied bridges, which can spread up to 50 meters and last for hundreds of years, could help our cities a lot. “It’s really unbelievable how strong they are and they are growing stronger over time. B.The introduction of special tree bridges. C.The history of old tree bridges. D.The information of different bridges. 主题02 人与自我——节假日活动 Passage 1 (24-25九年级上·广东阳江·期末) Interesting Festivals in the World Throwing Tomatoes—Spain Spain takes “tomatoes fights” to a whole new height. A.Most pictures in the book were provided by local plant lovers. B.It was finished by Chen Jianbing himself. C.It began to be written at the start of 2019. B.The city’s action to stop illegal harvesting. C.The city’s development in economy. D.The city’s research on wild orchids. 13.Why do most consumers choose to buy wild orchids? A.Because they look more beautiful. B.Because the price of them is much lower. C.Because they look different in size and appearance. D.Because they are hard to harvest. 14.What can we infer from the passage? A.Orchids have many uses for human beings. B.The orchids in greenhouses are more popular than those in the wild. C.20 years ago, Shenzhen began to record species of wild orchids. D.The book was written to tell people how to protect wild orchids. 15.What is the best title for the passage? A.Wild orchids discovered in Shenzhen. B.A book tells about the value of wild orchids. C.Wild orchid book published in Shenzhen. What are ultra-processed foods (UPFs)? In short, we can’t re-create them in our kitchen. They are usually made in factories. They have long lists of additives (添加剂)—some we may never have heard of. The study shows that people may strongly crave such food. We usually can’t stop eating it, or we may feel sad. But why do UPFs make us want to keep eating them all the time? Eating too many UPFs will lead to poor diet and increase the risks of serious illness. For example, UPFs lovers are more likely to get heart disease and certain cancers. Governments are taking action right now. Some governments put taxes (税) on sugary drinks to make them more expensive, so fewer people will buy them. This idea can be used on the UPFs as well.
