专题08 阅读理解之说明文 (题源:2025年人教版中考英语阅读理解之说明文适用地区) 阅读理解·说明文·选择3题 (24-25八年级上·北京海淀·期末)When faced with stress or hardship, who do you turn to for help? Who has the power to lift your spirits? Perhaps it’s your mom or dad, or an understanding friend who really cares about you. We all know that spending time with good friends makes us happier. Scientists have even put this feeling to the test, and have found that teen friendships have to do with psychological  (心理的) well-being. A study of 108 high school students in Australia found that strong friendships were pretty helpful for teens after a stressful event, such as failing a test. Teens being with friends were reported to have lower levels of sadness, jealousy, and worry. In fact, friendship not only provides support in the short term, but also influences a person in general in the long run. The researchers interviewed 169 fifteen-year-old teenagers, and tracked their progress over 10 years. Each year, these people were also asked to do a survey testing their levels of anxiety, depression (压抑), and self-worth. As the results showed, having close bonds with friends would reduce people’s levels of anxiety, depression, and improve self-worth. In addition, another study in the journal Child Development found that having good teenage friendships might help teens become better parents in the future. This is because they show more empathy (同理心) to their close friends, which helps them develop better parenting skills. Dr. Jessica A.Stern, in an interview with Psychology Today, emphasized (强调), “When you’re a teenager, close friendships are an important ‘training ground’ for developing social skills and learning how to care for others in more mature ways when you grow up.” However, does having many friends necessarily mean more happiness? In fact, having a lot of friends in one’s friend circle doesn’t always bring mental health benefits. Instead, having too many friends can sometimes lead to social anxiety. The key to teen friendships lies not in the number of friends, but in the closeness and quality of a few good ones. It’s the deep understanding and being understood by another person that help teenagers develop necessary social skills for the future. As we can see, friendships during teenage years play a key role in psychological well-being. We always hope that friendships last forever, even if it isn’t always the case. Developing close teen friendships can pave the way for a happier, more worthwhile life ahead. 1.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about? In recent years, scientists have studied about the feelings of cows, frogs and pandas. ________ It says that humans can tell whether a chicken is happy or sad by listening to its calls. The researchers put a bowl behind a door. Inside the bowl, sometimes, there was something chickens love to eat, such as rice or insects. Sometimes, there was nothing. When the chickens saw food behind the door, they seemed happy and made fast and loud sounds. They are known as food calls. When there wasn’t food, the chickens made low and long noises to express *disappointment. The researchers recorded all these sounds and studied their waves. Then the researchers chose 16 recordings of such chicken noises. Half were from the chickens seeing the food and half were from the chickens finding no food. Bertrand Russell, a British philosopher, said in 1948 that people couldn’t think without language. ②However, a recent study shows that language and thinking are actually “much more independent (独立的)” than we believed. ③The study by scientists from the US tried to find out the language-thinking relationship in two ways. First, they studied people with global aphasia (完全失语症). Although they are almost unable to understand or speak, they can still finish hard tasks. “They can even solve math problems as long as the orders are non-verbal (非语言的),” Evelina Fedorenko told ZME Science. ④The researchers also used brain-imaging (脑成像) to study the brains of healthy people. When they were working on non-verbal tasks like planning, the language parts of their brains were mostly not working. ⑤So, if language isn’t necessary for thinking, then why did humans create and keep using it? That’s because language plays an important part in communication (沟通). ⑥“Most of the time, you learned about the world through language, not through your real experience with the world,” Fedorenko said. Without enough time to go everywhere themselves, humans have to share information with the help of language to learn more about the world. ⑦Although we don’t need language to think, the way we speak can greatly decide how we think. For example, “He fired the gun.” in English is usually expressed as “The gun went off.” in Japanese. As a result, English speakers are more likely to care about the person, not the tool, than Japanese speakers, according to Psychology Today. 26.According to the passage, what might a man with global aphasia be able to do? ①learn a foreign language ②work as a teacher ③tell kids stories ④use a pen ⑤work out a math problem ⑥cry or laugh A.①③⑤ B.③④⑤ C.④⑤⑥ D.②⑤⑥ 27.Which idea do you think the writer will agree with? A.Different languages will make people think the same way. B.Speaking more languages can make people become smarter. C.The language parts of the brain work for tasks like planning. D.Language makes it easier for humans to learn about the world. 28.What’s the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 29.Which of the following is similar to the role of language in thinking? A.Water to fish: without water, fish will not be able to live. B.A map to a trip: a map is helpful but not necessary during a trip. C.Summer to winter: they won’t show up together in the same place. D.Two keys to the same door: the two keys can take each other’s place. (24-25八年级上·辽宁沈阳·期末)In the village of Liuke in China, houses are made of dark bricks (砖) and red windows. But do you really have SAD or you are just being introverted (内向的)? Here is something you need to know. Being introverted is one kind of your personality while SAD can be a serious illness. But do you know that we also communicate with ourselves from time to time? Picture this: Your mom asks you what you would like for breakfast. Many foods come to your mind: pancakes, bread, porridge ... You think that it would be great to have pancakes. They each have something special to make themselves stand out from the others. Today, we will learn some interesting things about Neptune (海王星). Neptune is the eighth, and the farthest planet from the Sun. It was found in 1846. The planet has long been difficult to study because it is hard to get there and we can’t see it with our own eyes. Now, thanks to the development of science, people know more about Neptune than ever before. It has a beautiful blue color. It is bigger than our Earth. It is the windiest planet in our solar system. And wind speeds can reach up to about 2,400 kilometers per hour. It takes a very long time, about 165 Earth years for Neptune to go around the sun for just one time. There is also another interesting fact about the planet. It could be raining diamonds (钻石) on Neptune! This may sound like something out of a movie, but it is real on this planet. Neptune’s atmosphere (大气) has methane (甲烷). Deep within Neptune’s atmosphere, there is very high pressure and high temperature. This condition causes methane to change. Then the carbon atoms (碳原子) from the methane get pushed together by the pressure and turn into small diamonds. As they fall, there is diamond rain. Would you like to see diamond rain on Neptune one day? ▲ Maybe you’ll build the next great spaceship and take us there! 根据材料内容选择最佳答案,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 64.Why is it difficult to study Neptune? ①Because it is hard to reach.       ②Because it has so many colors. ③Because its atmosphere is too thick.     ④Because we can’t see it with our own eyes. Have you ever wondered how interesting life is for astronauts up there? Astronauts live very differently in space. Because there is little gravity (重力), they cannot cook food like we do on Earth. They eat special food that is made before they go into space. There are no real beds in space, so astronauts sleep in sleeping bags that are fixed to the wall. There is no “up” or “down” in space, so they can sleep in any position (位置). To stay healthy, they use special bikes to exercise every day. Spacewalks are also an important part of an astronaut’s job. When they go outside the space station, they wear space suits with about seven layers. These layers help protect them from very hot and very cold temperatures and from other dangers in space. During spacewalks, astronauts can fix broken parts and take care of the space station. The Shenzhou-20 team will stay in space for about six months. One of their jobs is to study zebrafish (斑马鱼). These small fish are like humans in some ways, so they help scientists learn how low gravity changes living things. Astronauts also study microbes (微生物). These studies may help us make better medicine. All of these help China get ready to send people to the Moon before 2030. These interesting jobs show how hard Chinese astronauts work. Their job is not easy, but it is very important. They also make young people like us want to dream big. Maybe one day, you could be an astronaut, flying in space and helping write the next part of human space history. 69.Why can’t astronauts cook like us on Earth according to the text? A.There is low gravity. B.The food is too hot. C.They have no kitchen. D.They don’t know how to cook. 70.What does the underlined word “layers” in Paragraph 3 mean? A.Heavy tools for walking in space. B.Rooms where astronauts sleep. C.Thin parts that cover and protect the body. We usually see robots in the films. The robots in these films are stronger, faster and cleverer than people. But robots don’t have a long history. In early years, people could use robots to finish the tasks that were boring in the factories. They could also do the tasks in the same steps each time. Robots were good at putting different parts together or moving things. They sometimes did work that was dangerous for humans. For example, they might work deep in the ocean or inside the tanks (罐) filled with dangerous smoke. Today, we can use robots in many different places. It seems that these robots not only move mechanical (机械的) parts but also “think” on their own. Scientists are making robots like guide dogs to help blind people. That makes it possible for the blind to walk around. They usually program the robots to do jobs. A program is a set of computer instructions that tell the robot what to do. Complex (复杂的) robots can do a few things at the same time. In fact, two complex robots are now on Mars, studying the planet. These robots, called the Mars Exploration Rovers, have metal or plastic bodies that help protect (保护) their mechanical parts inside. The computer in a robot acts as its brain and the camera acts as its eyes. These robots have sent photos and information about the surface (表面) of Mars back to Earth. In the future, robots will work in many different ways. Maybe one kind of robots will be able to recognize (辨别) your voice and talk with you. They can work as a service worker or a guard. Another kind of robots will carry packages and open doors. It will walk forward and backward, turn easily without stopping, and climb stairs. It can also keep its balance (平衡) on uneven ground. The idea is simple: the buyers won’t know which toys they get until they open the boxes. It’s a bit like gambling (赌博), but everyone gets a toy, so no one ends up with nothing. ②Pop Mart is a well-known company (公司). It began as a small shop in Beijing’s Zhongguancun area, selling different kinds of products (产品). Later, the company found toys were their most popular and best-selling products. ▲ ③The idea for blind boxes was from gashapon (扭蛋机) in Japan, which sells blind toys in capsules (胶囊). Scientists now believe it formed (形成) around 4.46 billion years ago. A long time ago, a big collision (碰撞) happened in space. A planet named Theia, about the size of Mars, hit the Earth. This caused magma (岩浆) to fly out into space. As the magma cooled, it became rocks that began flying around the Earth. Slowly, these rocks came together and formed the Moon. How do we know this? In 1972, astronauts collected (收集) rocks from the Moon. The rocks had a special kind of mineral (矿物质). It formed after the Earth and Theia collided. Recently, scientists used a new tool to study the mineral more clearly. This helped them work out how old the Moon really is. Why do we study the Moon? It’s not just a shiny rock in the sky! It plays a big part in our lives. It makes our seasons change and even changes the weather. Without the Moon, life on Earth might not be possible. Before astronauts travelled to the Moon, there were stories about how the Moon formed. Some people thought the Moon was floating (漂浮) through space and got caught by the Earth’s gravity (引力). They are part of a popular personality test called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). All of the results have four letters, and there are 16 results in all. An “I” person is often shy and quiet while an “E” person is outgoing. Even if an “I” person is often quiet, many online discussions show that he or she can still be outgoing at times. For example, when a shy person is with a group of shy friends, he or she might become more social like an “E” person. Some scientists agree that this idea of temporarily (暂时地) changing personalities is called “masking”. That is hiding your true personality in some situations. “Human beings want to be part of a group, and they might become people-pleasers to do so,” wrote the MasterClass website. Using the MBTI result to describe someone’s personality seems fun. The MBTI personality test may show something you don’t know about yourself and can even be a fun ice-breaker when meeting new friends. And that’s all it is—for fun. Over the years, I’ve worked with a number of these people and learned a bit about how they think. Believe it or not, their lying makes some sense when you look at it through their eyes. The lie might not seem important to you, but it matters a lot to them. They think it’s a big deal. They might be putting too much pressure on themselves or the situation. To some people, telling the truth can feel like giving up control. Often, people want things to go their way. The truth might not fit their plan, so they avoid it. Or they just don’t want to disappoint (使失望) you. Even though it might not seem like it, people who lie a lot are often worried about losing the respect of those around them. They fear that the truth could make you turn away from them. However, lies can grow. One small lie leads to more lies to cover it up. If the liars admit to (承认) any single lie, they feel like they’re admitting to being a liar, and that’s scary. At other times, it’s not a lie to them. They might truly believe their lies at that moment. Studies show that many things influence our memories. Stress, current (当前的) events and their desire (愿望) for things to go well can make them remember things differently. Moreover, liars want their lies to be true. Sometimes, they hope that they can make something come true by saying it over and over again. Most people are honest most of the time. Even if some people lie more, they’re usually honest. Instead of asking why they lie, try to understand why the situation is so important to them. Showing empathy (同理心) and praising honesty can encourage more truth-telling. Being honest is important, and helping others be honest is also a good thing. 81.According to the passage, what may happen after someone tells a small lie? A.They forget it quickly. The memories of his childhood in hutongs were so important to him that even after he had been away from Beijing for more than 20 years, he still clearly remembered them and wrote them into a novel called Four Generations under One Roof (《四世同堂》). Now, Beijing still has about 400,000 siheyuan for people to live in. However, most hutongs are in great danger because more and more new buildings have been built. A.Having good teen friends brings long-term benefits to a person. B.Having close bonds with family reduces people’s levels of anxiety. C.Teenagers can train their social skills with the help of their parents. D.Good teen friendships help improve physical health in the long run. 2.What does the writer probably agree with? A.Developing close teen friendships helps improve social skills. B.Being with friends is helpful for teens before a stressful event. C.The more friends a teen has, the happier he or she will become. D.Forming close teen relationships in fact lowers one’s self-worth. 3.What is the writer’s purpose in writing this passage? A.To show the ways to make more friends. The recordings were played to 194 volunteers. Sixty-nine percent of the volunteers correctly understood whether the chickens were feeling happy or not, and some of them even never take care of chickens. The result shows that humans have the natural ability to understand the feelings of chickens. It helps countries work together on education, science and culture to make the world more peaceful. For many years, it has worked on protecting cultural things around the world by putting them on the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List. ④The items on the List must have a history of over one hundred years. But do you really have SAD or you are just being introverted (内向的)? Here is something you need to know. Being introverted is one kind of your personality while SAD can be a serious illness. D.Machines used to help astronauts breathe. 71.How does the writer support the idea that astronauts’ work is important in Paragraph 4? A.By giving examples of their work in space. B.By telling a funny story about astronauts. C.By comparing astronauts with other people. D.By asking readers some questions. 72.Which of the following do the Shenzhou-20 team do in space according to the text? ①Astronauts study fish and microbes in space.    ②Astronauts sleep in fixed sleeping bags. ③Astronauts take a walk on the moon.            ④Astronauts ride special bikes to exercise. In our future life, robots may be able to do everything. They can’t take the place of humans, but they can help humans to finish different tasks easier. We are sure that life in the future will be very different from life today with robots’ help. 1.At the beginning of using robots, we usually make them _________. A.do boring or dangerous tasks in the factories B.work as guide dogs to help the blind people C.send the photos back to the earth from Mars D.finish a few different tasks at the same time 2.What can we know from the passage? A.Robot bodies on Mars are covered with metal or plastic. B.It will be easier to make robots think just like humans. C.Robots are going to take the place of us in a few years.
