A. Two fifths; are B. Two fifth; is C. Two fifths; is D. Second five; are 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:五分之二的土地被树木和草覆盖,因此环境很好。 C。 2. After a short break, she continued ________ for her ________ exam late into the night. A. study; the first B. studying; the first C. to study; the first D. to study; first 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】句意:在短暂休息后,她继续为她的第一次考试学习到深夜。 continue to do sth. D。 3. If you want to know the meaning of the new word, you can ________ in the dictionary. A. look for it B. look it for C. look up it D. look it up 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】句意:如果你想知道这个新词的意思,你可以查字典。 look for寻找;look up查阅。 D。 4. There aren’t ________ local restaurants here. You can go to the next street to try ________ delicious Cantonese food. A. some; some B. any; any C. any; some D. some; any 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:这里没有当地的餐馆。 C。 5. In our school, there ________ a number of books on science and technology, and the number of them ________ getting larger. A. are; is B. are; are C. is; is D. is; are 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】句意:在我们学校,有许多关于科学和技术书,而且它们的数量在增加。 A。 6. ________ people like going shopping while ________ people like staying at home. A. Some, others B. Some, other C. Some, the others D. Some, the other 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:一些人喜欢购物,然而另一些人喜欢待在家里。 此处要修饰people,故排除A,D项;此处表示泛指,some…other…“一些……,另一些……”,故选B。 7. —________ you practise, ________ mistakes you will make. —Yes. Practice makes perfect. A. The more; the more B. Less; fewer C. The more; less D. The more; the fewer 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】句意:——你练习得越多,你犯的错误就会越少。 8. ________ the signal (信号) gets stronger, the multimedia device ________ the Wi-Fi smoothly. A. With; will be connected to B. As; will be connected to C. When; was connected to D. As; is connected to 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:随着信号变强,多媒体设备将顺利连接到Wi-Fi。 B。 9. Parents usually ________ their children ________ stay up late because it’s bad for their health. A. not allow; to B. don’t allow; for C. don’t allow; to D. aren’t allow; to 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:父母通常不允许他们的孩子熬夜,因为这对他们的健康有害。 “allow sb. to do sth.” C。 10. ________ a new digital camera, he took one of ________ in this competition. A. Has; most beautiful photos B. Has; the most beautiful photo C. With; the most beautiful photos D. With; the most beautiful photo 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:他用一台新的数码相机,在这次比赛中拍了最漂亮的照片之一。 has有,动词;with用,介词。 之一”,所以第二空用“the most beautiful photos”。 Volunteers (志愿者) are probably some of the most overlooked (被忽视的) people. For people who don’t like winter, animals that hibernate (冬眠) seem to have the right idea. But is hibernation the same as sleeping? Well, in fact, animals that hibernate don’t “sleep” during the winter. Hibernation is very different from what happens when you sleep. During hibernation, metabolism (新陈代谢) slows down greatly. When lemurs (狐猴) hibernate, for example, they slow their heart rates. An active lemur’s heart beats 300 times a minute. During hibernation, it beats less than six times a minute. Its breathing slows down, too. Hibernating lemurs can go ten minutes without taking a breath. Their brain activity becomes very slow. During sleep, however, animals continue to breathe as usual. According to scientists, hibernation is a way for animals to save energy. However, animals that live in cold areas are not the only ones to hibernate. Some animals hibernate to beat the heat. For some, hibernation is not because of temperatures (气温). Some animals hibernate when there is no food. Echidnas (针鼹), for example, will hibernate after fires. They won’t go back to usual activities until food grows back. Some animals hibernate to stay safe. Animals don’t smell or move much when they hibernate. This makes it hard for other animals to find them and eat them. There are many mammals (哺乳动物) that hibernate. Most of them are small—weigh less than 90 grams. Little animals usually lose heat quickly. It is hard for them to stay warm in winter, so they need to save more energy than larger animals do. We human beings don’t need hibernation. So, don’t be lazy and lie in bed all day long during the coming winter holiday! 35. According to the article, during hibernation, animals ________. A. lose weight B. stop breathing C. slow down their brain activity D. breathe quickly 36. The author uses the example of echidnas to show that ________. A. hibernation is different from sleeping B. most mammals don’t need hibernation C. during hibernation, metabolism slows down D. hibernation isn’t always because of temperatures 37. According to the article, mammals that hibernate are usually ________. A. small in size B. young in age C. tall in height D. heavy in weight 38. By writing this article, the author mainly wants to ________. A. tell people more about hibernation B. prevent young people from getting lazy C. explain why human beings don’t need hibernation D. list the differences between hibernation and sleeping 【答案】35. C 36. D 37. A 38. 根据第二段“Hibernation is very different from what happens when you sleep.”和“Their brain activity becomes very slow”可知,冬眠时,动物的大脑活动会减缓,故选C。 根据第三段“Some animals hibernate when there is no food. Echidnas (针鼹), for example, will hibernate after fires.” 根据倒数第二段“There are many mammals (哺乳动物) that hibernate. Most of them are small—weigh less than 90 grams.” 阅读全文并根据第一段“For people who don’t like winter, animals that hibernate (冬眠) seem to have the right idea. They leave bits of DNA behind wherever they go. DNA left behind like this is “environmental” DNA, or eDNA. Scientists can use it to tell what kinds of animals are in a certain place. Testing eDNA isn’t a new idea. Most of the time ________, and a group of scientists from Shanghai once succeeded in finding the exact number and different kinds of fishes in the Yangtze River. But now, two teams of scientists have found a new way of identifying animals in an area by testing eDNA in the air. Both teams chose to test in zoos because wild animals were not easy to find in the area. One team collected samples (样本) from different places at Denmark’s Copenhagen Zoo, and the other team did it at Hamerton Zoo Park in the UK. Interestingly, both teams used vacuums (真空吸尘器) and fans to get small bits of eDNA in the air. After collecting samples, they went back to the lab and compared their samples with examples of DNA from different animals. So, the scientists were able to identify many different animals at the zoos. Both teams have followed different animals, even the ones in danger without interfering (干扰) with them in this new way. They were so excited about their new way that they put their results of the test together and wrote a paper together in order to invite more scientists to join them. However, it’s still unknown whether (是否) this new way will work out fine or not in the wild world. If scientists know where the wild animals live, they can do a better job of protecting them. So the next step is to find out how to take this new way into the wild world. 39. Which sentence can be put into “________”? A. scientists had no idea of how to look for eDNA B. scientists couldn’t agree on how to look for eDNA C. scientists looked for eDNA in the water D. scientists tried to find new ways to look for eDNA 40. What can we infer from the passage? A. Testing eDNA in the water is the best way of identifying animals in the wild. B. Testing eDNA in the air may be helpful for scientists to protect wild animals in the future. C. Testing eDNA in the air is only useful in zoos but not in the wild. D. There is no need for scientists to visit where wild animals live. 41. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 42. Where can we probably read this passage? A. According to the article, mammals that hibernate are usually ________. A. small in size B. young in age C. tall in height D. heavy in weight 38. By writing this article, the author mainly wants to ________. A. tell people more about hibernation B. prevent young people from getting lazy C. explain why human beings don’t need hibernation D. list the differences between hibernation and sleeping (C) Do you know DNA? Every living thing has DNA, so scientists can use it to identify (识别) living things.
