As physical workouts can increase our muscle strength. Mental workouts can increase our memory by chAllenging ourselves to develop new brain pathways. For example, learning a new language, solving higher level math problems, and writing essays conserve as mental workouts. Second do physical exercise. Physical exercise can increase blood circulation throughout our body, which sends more oxygen to our brain. Therefore, IT reduces the risk of memory loss and increases the brain activity. The third tip is to get enough sleep. Sleep plays an important role in memory. While the amount of required sleep time might vary, most adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep a night to store memories in the brain. Finally, make time for family and friends. Healthy relationships are necessary to improve our memory, which helps reduce the factors that can lead to memory loss, such as stress and depression. Our memory is closely linked to both our physical and mental health, and the best way to improve our memory is to have a healthy daily routine. Thank you. Good morning, everyone. The red-crowned crane (丹顶鹤) is a national first-class protected wildlife. However, due to environmental and ecological damage, the number of red-crowned cranes had been dangerously declining when Zhao Shiwei joined the Zhaoquan River Management Station in 1992. Artificial breeding of red-crowned cranes became an important part of Zhao’s work.
3 red-crowned crane birds hatched at the station through his artificial program in 1996. Despite tasting success, Zhao and his team encountered hardships the following year. In 1997, not a single red-crowned crane bird hatched. And in 1998, only one red-crowned crane chick hatched through artificial breeding, but it died soon after.
In 1999, the station rescued 7 injured red-crowned cranes from the wild, which brought a crucial ray of hope for the program. That drove Zhao and his colleagues to check temperature control devices, go through a huge amount of data, and seek advice from experts, hoping to achieve a breakthrough in artificial breeding. They tried every possible method, even consulting technicians from nearby chicken farms. Finally, the artificial breeding program improved a lot. Later, a record of 85 red-crowned crane birds hatched at the station through a combination of artificial and natural breeding methods. Over the past 30 years, Zhao has always been personally involved in the hatching process. “This part is the most crucial; there cannot be the slightest error,” he said.
Later, Zhao realized that with the number of artificially bred red-crowned cranes increasing, the bond between the cranes and humans was growing stronger. “But they are the spirits of nature and hence should return to nature.” Zhao said. Therefore, Zhao provided outdoor training to artificially bred red-crowned cranes in the reserve in order to increase the number of wild red-crowned cranes. Up to now, Zhao and his team have bred and released more than 200 red-crowned cranes after ensuring they will be able to survive in nature.
45.What does the author imply about the red-crowned cranes in the first two paragraphs?
A.They’re at risk of going extinct. B.They top all other wildlife in value.
C.Their artificial breeding started in 1992. D.Their number stopped declining in 1996.
46.What was the turning point in the artificial breeding program?
A.Raising sufficient funds. B.Rescuing 7 wild cranes.
C.Hiring some wildlife experts. D.Purchasing advanced devices.
47.Why did Zhao train cranes outdoors?
A.To give tourists chances to admire cranes.
B.To improve cranes’ survival skills in the wild.
C.To increase the number of artificially-bred cranes.
D.To strengthen the bond between cranes and humans.
48.What is Zhao Shiwei’s attitude towards his work of protecting red-crowned cranes over the 30 years?
A.Reluctant and doubtful. B.Passionate and careful.

My son just completed high school, and his departure for college marks a significant change for me. Among the things I’ll miss most are his lessons in teenage slang (俚语), which has offered me an accidental and useful portrait of how he and his generation perceive the world.
The primary value of slang has been to create linguistic markers, a way to set you apart from other people. The terms change over time, but the meanings typically don’t — one generation’s “cool” becomes another’s “dope”.
Members of my son’s generation have a vastly superior approach to slang. They have invented a language that responds to the new and distinct reality they face, a society characterized by collapsing institutions, decline in trust and a loss of faith in a shared sense of meaning.
“Mid,” for example, in my son’s usage, describes things that are average or slightly below. You can’t really complain about them, but they produce no joy or surprise. Everything in Starbucks and airports falls into the category of “mid.”
“Glazed” has a similarly impressive precision, indicating the act of positively making up a comment on reality rather than complete lying. It is the perfect description of the way social media works, with everything taking on an artificially positive, partially real and not entirely trustworthy look. For example, beach photos on social media might make a destination look like paradise, yet they rarely show the crowded shores or bad weather that are part of the reality.
My favorite slang word is “based,” often used to express agreement when someone states a controversial opinion. “Canada should join the United States,” one might say, to which someone else might reply, “Based.” To my ear, “based” is a perfect word to describe the informational chaos we are living in currently.
Slang has brought my son and me closer. It’s taught me that the current crop of teenagers created a language to describe the flawed reality we’ve abandoned them to, and in doing so they’ve proved themselves less misguided and more innovative than we were.
49.What does teenage slang reveal about young people?
A.Their need to fit in with peers. B.Their aim to challenge social norms.
C.Their response to the flawed reality. D.Their desire to outperform older generations.
50.Which comment on a crowded beach reflects “glazed” in paragraph 4?
A.“What a disaster!” B.“A wonderful spot!”
C.“Not crowded at all.” D.“At least we found a spot.”
51.Which word best describes the tone of the text?
A.Critical. B.Appreciative. C.Instructive. D.Cautious.
52.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Teens Have Invented a Language for the World B.Teenagers’ Fondness for Nonsense Words
C.Teenage Slang tells us about Hopeless Youth D.The Impact of Teen Slang on Social Reality
D
As the global population continues to expand, traditional farming methods are struggling to provide enough food. However, an innovative agricultural company in Compton, Los Angeles, may have the solution. Their revolutionary farming system could transform food production, offering remarkable efficiency and sustainability.
It’s far from the storybook picture of a farm — no mud, no boots, no hens pecking in the yard. Unlike conventional farms, this high-tech facility operates without soil, heavy machinery, or pesticides. Instead, it relies on automation and advanced plant science to maximize output. Using precisely calibrated (符合标准的) LED lighting and nutrient delivery systems, the facility produces up to 350 times more yields compared to traditional farms while using just 10% of the water — and it can be replicated (复制) almost anywhere.
The entire process — from planting seeds to packaging produce — is automated. From the moment a worker tips seeds into the sowing machine, robots take over. Nearly 80 plant scientists study best growing conditions for each plant, working with over 100 engineers who translate these findings into hardware and software solutions.
“Plants are really just little software programs,” explains one of the scientists. By studying plant DNA without changing it, scientists can program qualities like growth, flavor, and nutrition. For instance, exposing plants to blue light at specific growth cycles creates leaves with a satisfying crunch at harvest. The same principles can enhance antioxidant levels in vegetables by up to 40%. Since crops never contact soil, pesticides, or human hands, they require no washing — reducing both water waste and contamination risks.
One of the greatest threats to the natural world is habitat loss due to farmland expansion. If successful, farms like this could reduce deforestation while meeting food demands. Yet the high costs — including energy-intensive artificial lighting — may block global adoption, particularly in developing nations where infrastructure is limited.
Could this be the future of agriculture? With its incredible efficiency, minimal environmental impact, and potential for worldwide replication, this high-tech farming model may soon become essential in feeding our growing world — if the challenges of scaling and affordability can be overcome.
53.What is the main feature of the innovative farming system?
A.It demands water-free technology.
B.It gets high yields with little input.
C.It is widely introduced in the world.
D.It mixes old and new farming methods.
54.What is the scientists’ major role in the process of the farming system?
A.They are gene editors. B.They are machine operators.
C.They are system monitors. D.They are plant programmers.
55.What may limit the worldwide spread of this farming system?
A.Low public acceptance. B.Great farmland loss.
C.Poor production facilities. D.High energy demands.
56.What is the author’s attitude toward the future of agriculture?
A.Optimistic. B.Critical. C.Indifferent. D.Doubtful.

If you enjoy walking for exercise, there’s a simple way to meet your demand—change your walk into a ruck, and it’s an increasingly popular form of exercise.
Rucking is walking with weight on your back. The term “rucking” comes from ruck marching, a core skill used by the military around the world. One of the tests the army normally gives to soldiers is a 12-mile ruck, which they must complete within three hours while carrying a weight of at least 35 pounds.
The reason why rucking is growing in popularity is that it’s an easy and all-body exercise. One study in 2019 showed that 10 weeks of weighted walking improved physical performance. Since rucking is usually performed outdoors, there is no doubt that it’s also good for your mental health. Lots of studies suggest that the mental health benefits of being in a natural environment are huge.
There are several tips for your rucking when you get started. First, don’t be too eager. As with any new exercise, you’ll need to begin slowly. Start with an empty backpack (背包) and walk a distance you’ve already done. When you start adding weight to your pack, try something low, like 10% of your body weight. Adding weight is going to put more stress on your ankles, knees, hips and back, so do it gradually. Another option is to start with a weighted vest (背心) instead of a backpack. This spreads the weight between your front and back. And of course, don’t forget your feet. Select a comfortable pair of shoes to prevent getting hurt.
57.What is rucking?(不多于六个单词)
58.Why is rucking popular?(不多于六个单词)

Good morning, everyone. Today I’m going to give some advice on improving memory. First, give the brain a workout. As physical workouts can increase our muscle strength, mental workouts can increase our memory by challenging ourselves to develop new brain pathways. For example, learning a new language, solving higher-level math problems, and writing essays can serve as mental workouts. Second, do physical exercise. Physical exercise can increase blood circulation throughout our body, which sends more oxygen to our brain. Therefore, it reduces the risk of memory loss and increases the brain activity. The third tip is to get enough sleep. Sleep plays an important role in memory. While the amount of required sleep time might vary, most adults should get 7-9 hours of sleep a night to store memories in the brain. Finally, make time for family and friends. Healthy relationships are necessary to improve our memory, which helps reduce the factors that can lead to memory loss, such as stress and depression. Our memory is closely linked to both our physical and mental health, and the best way to improve our memory is to have a healthy daily routine. Thank you.

And in 1998, only one red-crowned crane chick hatched through artificial breeding, but it died soon after.(尽管取得了初步的成功,但赵和他的团队在接下来的一年里却遭遇了重重困难。 故选A。
根据第三段中“In 1999, the station rescued 7 injured red-crowned cranes from the wild, which brought a crucial ray of hope for the program.(1999年,该机构从野外救回了7只受伤的丹顶鹤,这为该项目带来了至关重要的希望之光)”可知,人工繁殖计划的转折点是救出了7只野生丹顶鹤。故选B。
根据最后一段中“Later, Zhao realized that with the number of artificially bred red-crowned cranes increasing, the bond between the cranes and humans was growing stronger. “But they are the spirits of nature and hence should return to nature.” Zhao said. Therefore, Zhao provided outdoor training to artificially bred red-crowned cranes in the reserve in order to increase the number of wild red-crowned cranes.(后来,赵意识到随着人工繁育的丹顶鹤数量的增加,丹顶鹤与人类之间的联系也在日益紧密。“但它们是大自然的精灵,因此应该回归自然。”赵说。因此,赵在保护区为人工繁育的丹顶鹤提供了户外训练,以增加野生丹顶鹤的数量)”可知,赵世伟意识到丹顶鹤应该回归自然。由此推知,在户外训练丹顶鹤是为了提高它们在野外的生存技能,以增加野生丹顶鹤的数量。故选B。
48.推理判断题。根据第三段“Over the past 30 years, Zhao has always been personally involved in the hatching process. “This part is the most crucial; there cannot be the slightest error,” he said.(在过去的30年里,赵世伟一直亲自参与孵化过程。“这部分是最关键的,容不得半点差错,”他说)”以及最后一段“Up to now, Zhao and his team have bred and released more than 200 red-crowned cranes after ensuring they will be able to survive in nature.(截至目前,赵和他的团队已经培育并放飞了超过200只丹顶鹤,他们确保这些丹顶鹤能够在自然环境中生存下来)”可知,赵世伟在过去的30年里,对于保护丹顶鹤这一工作是投入的且尽责的态度。故选D。
C
【答案】49.C 50.B 51.B 52.A
根据第三段“Members of my son’s generation have a vastly superior approach to slang. They have invented a language that responds to the new and distinct reality they face, a society characterized by collapsing institutions, decline in trust and a loss of faith in a shared sense of meaning. (我儿子那一代人对俚语的理解要高明得多。他们发明了一种语言来回应他们所面临的新的、独特的现实,一个以机构崩溃、信任下降和对共同意义丧失信心为特征的社会。)”由此可知,青少年俚语揭示了年轻人对有缺陷的现实世界的回应。故选C项。
50.推理判断题。根据第四段““Glazed” has a similarly impressive precision, indicating the act of positively making up a comment on reality rather than complete lying. It is the perfect description of the way social media works, with everything taking on an artificially positive, partially real and not entirely trustworthy look. (“Glazed”也有着同样令人印象深刻的精准,表明的是一种对现实进行积极粉饰或编造的行为,而非完全撒谎。这是对社交媒体运作方式的完美描述,一切都呈现出一种人为的积极、部分真实、不完全可信的样子。)”可知,“Glazed”指的是对现实进行积极粉饰或编造的行为,所以B选项“‘A wonderful spot!’(“一个很棒的地方!”)”是对拥挤海滩的一种积极粉饰。故选B项。
51.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Slang has brought my son and me closer. It’s taught me that the current crop of teenagers created a language to describe the flawed reality we’ve abandoned them to, and in doing so they’ve proved themselves less misguided and more innovative than we were. (俚语拉近了我和儿子的距离。它教会了我,现在的青少年创造了一种语言来描述我们抛弃他们的有缺陷的现实,在这样做的过程中,他们证明了自己比我们更少被误导,更有创造力。)”由此可推断,作者对青少年俚语的态度是欣赏的。故选B项。
52.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第三段“Members of my son’s generation have a vastly superior approach to slang. They have invented a language that responds to the new and distinct reality they face, a society characterized by collapsing institutions, decline in trust and a loss of faith in a shared sense of meaning. (我儿子那一代人对俚语的理解要高明得多。他们发明了一种语言来回应他们所面临的新的、独特的现实,一个以机构崩溃、信任下降和对共同意义丧失信心为特征的社会。)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者儿子这一代年轻人发明了一种语言(青少年俚语)来回应他们所面临的现实世界。A选项“Teens Have Invented a Language for the World (青少年为世界发明了一种语言)”符合文章主旨,适合用作标题。故选A项。
D.Doubtful.
【答案】53.B 54.D 55.D 56.A
根据第二段中的“Using precisely calibrated (符合标准的) LED lighting and nutrient delivery systems, the facility produces up to 350 times more yields compared to traditional farms while using just 10% of the water — and it can be replicated (复制) almost anywhere.(该设施使用精确校准的LED照明和营养输送系统,与传统农场相比,产量高达350倍,而用水量仅为传统农场的10%——而且它几乎可以在任何地方复制。)”
根据第四段中的““Plants are really just little software programs,” explains one of the scientists. By studying plant DNA without changing it, scientists can program qualities like growth, flavor, and nutrition.(“植物实际上就是小型软件程序,”其中一位科学家解释道。通过研究植物DNA而不改变它,科学家们可以对植物的生长、风味和营养等特性进行“编程”。)”可知,科学家在该耕作系统流程中的主要角色是植物“程序员”,可对植物特性进行调控。故选D项。
55.细节理解题。根据第五段中的“Yet the high costs — including energy-intensive artificial lighting — may block global adoption, particularly in developing nations where infrastructure is limited.(然而,高昂的成本——包括能源密集型的人工照明——可能会阻碍其在全球范围内的应用,尤其是在基础设施有限的发展中国家。)”
根据最后一段中的“Could this be the future of agriculture? With its incredible efficiency, minimal environmental impact, and potential for worldwide replication, this high-tech farming model may soon become essential in feeding our growing world — if the challenges of scaling and affordability can be overcome.(这会是农业的未来吗?凭借其惊人的效率、最小的环境影响以及在全球范围内复制的潜力,如果能克服规模化和可负担性方面的挑战,这种高科技耕作模式可能很快会成为养活我们不断增长的人口的关键。)”可知,作者认可该耕作系统的优势和潜力,对农业未来持乐观态度。故选A项。

59.Where is rucking usually performed?(不多于一个单词)
60.What is the last paragraph mainly about?(不多于三个单词)
57.Walking with weight on your back. 58.It’s an easy and all-body exercise. 59.Outdoors. 60.Tips for rucking.
根据第二段“Rucking is walking with weight on your back.(徒步就是背着重物走路)”可知,徒步就是背着重物走路。 Walking with weight on your back.
根据第三段“The reason why rucking is growing in popularity is that it’s an easy and all-body exercise.(蹦蹦跳跳越来越受欢迎的原因是它是一种简单的全身运动)”可知,徒步受欢迎因为这是一项简单的全身运动。 It’s an easy and all-body exercise.
根据第三段“Since rucking is usually performed outdoors, there is no doubt that it’s also good for your mental health.(因为徒步通常是在户外进行的,毫无疑问,它对你的心理健康也有好处)”可知,徒步通常在户外。
根据最后一段“There are several tips for your rucking when you get started. First, don’t be too eager. As with any new exercise, you’ll need to begin slowly. Start with an empty backpack (背包) and walk a distance you’ve already done. When you start adding weight to your pack, try something low, like 10% of your body weight. This spreads the weight between your front and back. And of course, don’t forget your feet. Select a comfortable pair of shoes to prevent getting hurt.(当你开始徒步时,这里有一些建议。 Tips for rucking.
