At 17 years old, most are still learning basic driving skills in America. Once the car is parked, the day is packed with school activities and hanging out with friends. But at 17, Maggie Taraska had a distinctive goal in mind: Fly alone across the United States.
Both of Maggie’s parents were retired from the air force, so the urge to fly is in Maggie’s blood. She went to flight school, put in the hours with an instructor and started on her training hours. But on her first takeoff, something didn’t sound right. The plane had lost one of the landing gear wheels. “As soon as I took off, I just heard something was wrong instinctively.” said Maggie.
Her instructor talked to her from the ground while she circled a few times to gather herself. “I was frightened, thinking about all the bad things that could have happened; I was thinking about how my parents were on the ground as I knew they were watching.”
Stress and panic can cause any of us to make careless decisions. It takes mental practice to calm down. “Take a few breaths, focus on the moment and follow the plan. I panicked a bit, but followed my training.”
Maggie was a little shaky as she talked to the tower, but she had a perfect belly landing that skidded on the infield grass. Her father couldn’t be prouder. “By the time I saw Maggie on her approach, it was a better approach than I could have flown,” he said. Cheers erupted in the tower, and Maggie took a deep breath and climbed out of the plane.
Credit does go to the crew for talking to her. Yes, we all need someone to talk us through challenging times, but in the end, it was all Maggie at the controls. We could all be forgiven for calling it quits after an experience like that. After all, it was a bit distressing. So walking away would be understandable. But five days later, Maggie was going through her pre-flight safety inspections, checking the wings, especially checking the landing gear.
“It feels amazing,” she said, “It gives an incredible sense of liberation.” At some point in our lives, we will all be in a situation for the first time. It’s scary. But if you face your fears, the whole world opens up to you.
24. Maggie’s urge to fly alone was mainly influenced by ______.
A. her parents’ background in air force
B. her experience of school activities
C. her instructor’s encouragements
D. her basic driving skills
25. When Maggie heard something wrong during takeoff, she ______.
A. landed the plane immediately
B. thought of her parents’ expectation
C. circled a few times to calm herself down
D. continued flying as if nothing had happened
26. Which words would best describe Maggie’s personality?
A. Proud and intelligent.
B. Positive and cautious.
C. Patient and responsible.
D. Fearless and determined.
27. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Failure is the mother of success.
B. A good beginning is half done.
C. Fortune favors the brave.
D. Practice makes perfect.
A 25. C 26. D 27. C

通读全文,尤其是第四段“Stress and panic can cause any of us to make careless decisions. It takes mental practice to calm down. “Take a few breaths, focus on the moment and follow the plan. I panicked a bit, but followed my training.”(压力和恐慌会让我们中的任何一个人做出草率的决定。要让自己冷静下来需要进行心理层面的练习。“做几次深呼吸,专注于当下,按计划行事。我有点儿慌了,但还是按照训练的要求做了。”)”和第五段“Maggie was a little shaky as she talked to the tower, but she had a perfect belly landing that skidded on the infield grass.(Maggie在和塔台通话时声音有些颤抖,但她完成了一次完美的腹部着陆,飞机在跑道内场的草地上滑行了一段距离)”可知,本文主要讲述了17岁的Maggie Taraska克服重重困难,勇敢追求自己独自驾机飞越美国梦想的故事,因此我们可以从文中学到“幸运垂青勇者”,即Fortune favors the brave。故选C。

What does it mean to live a good life? This question has been debated for centuries. In the field of psychology, two main concepts of the good life have been quite popular: A happy life full of pleasure and positive emotions, and a meaningful life full of purpose and sacrifice. But what if these aren’t the only options?
In recent years, a long-neglected version of the good life has been receiving greater attention: the psychologically rich life. It is full of complex mental engagement, a wide range of intense and deep emotions, and diverse, novel, surprising and interesting experiences. Sometimes they are neither pleasant nor meaningful. However, they are rarely boring or monotonous (单调).
After all, both happy and meaningful lives can become monotonous and repetitive. A person with a steady office job, married with children, may be satisfied and find his or her life meaningful and still be bored. Also, the psychologically rich life doesn’t necessarily involve economic richness. For instance, consider Hesse’s character Goldmund, who has no money but pursues the life of a free spirit.
Research has found psychological richness is related to, but partially distinct from, both happy and meaningful lives. Psychological richness is related with openness to experience and experiencing both positive and negative emotions more intensely. But is the psychologically rich life one that people actually want?
In a new study, Oishi and his colleagues asked people in nine countries the degree to which they value a psychologically rich life, a happy life and a meaningful life. They found many people’s self-described ideal lives involve psychological richness. When forced to choose a life, however, the majority chose a happy life and a meaningful life. Even so, a minority of people still favored the psychologically rich life, ranging from 6.7% in Singapore to 16.8% in Germany.
These numbers went up when the desire for a psychologically rich life was measured indirectly. To understand what a person wishes their lives might have been, it is important to explore what people wish they had avoided in their lives. When asked what they regret most and whether undoing this event would have made their lives happier, more meaningful or psychologically richer, about 28% of Americans said undoing the regrettable event would have made their lives psychologically richer.
These findings suggest that while most people strive to be happy and have meaning in their lives, a sizable number of people are content merely living a psychologically rich existence.
As Oishi and his colleagues conclude, “We believe that taking the psychologically rich life seriously will deepen and enrich our understanding of well-being.” At the end of the day, there is no one singularly acceptable path to the good life. You have to find a path that works best for you.
28. According to the passage, the psychologically rich life ______.
A. means living a luxurious life
B. combines pleasure with purpose
C. involves various intense emotions
D. emphasizes openness and repetition
29. We can learn from the passage that ______.
A. purpose outweighs pleasure in terms of significance
B. the choice of a good life differs from person to person
C. a positive mindset helps us understand our well-being
D we should never be content and always strive for the best
30. What is the main purpose of the article?
A. To compare different concepts of a good life.
B. To explain how to live a psychologically rich life.
C. To persuade people to attain psychological richness.
D. To draw attention to a less familiar version of a good life.
C 29. B 30. D

You have to find a path that works best for you.(归根结底,美好生活没有唯一可接受的道路。
文章开篇第一段提出“What does it mean to live a good life?(过上美好的生活意味着什么?)”的问题,介绍了两种流行概念后,以“But what if these aren’t the only options?(但如果这些不是唯一的选择呢?)”

Psychologists tell us our self-image defines what we believe we can and cannot do. Each of us over the years has built up belief about ourselves: Unconsciously, our pictures of who we are have been formed by past experiences. Our successes and failures, what others have told us and what we think people believe about us all help form impressions of what we think we are. Because self-image is so important in our growth, it is important to examine our concepts of self in order to reach our full potential.
Changing our self-image is possible: Some psychologists suggest we begin to change our self-image by mentally picturing ourselves performing well at some task. Since we presently react to things based on our present images, it’s suggested that we replace those with better ones. In many experiments, people were asked to sit quietly for a few minutes each day and imagine themselves doing well. For instance, subjects would sit and imagine themselves throwing darts at a bull’s-eye on a target. Over a period of weeks, their dart game improved.
The point of changing self-image is not to develop an image of ourselves that is not real. To try to become something we really aren’t is just as wrong as living the unrealistic, inferior image we may have. The aim is to find the real self, to bring our mental images of ourselves in line with our true potential. However, it is generally accepted among psychologists that most of us fail to do justice to ourselves. We’re usually better than we think we are.
Another important part of changing self-image is to not think about past mistakes. Don’t let failures do harm. Our errors or humiliation over mistakes are necessary steps in learning. It is all right to make mistakes. But when they have taught us what we did wrong, we should forget them and not think about them repeatedly. Sometimes we keep remembering our failures or mistakes and feel guilty or embarrassed about them. We let them take over, and then we develop a fear.
It is important to have realistic expectations of ourselves. Some of our dissatisfaction might come from expecting too much of ourselves. If we demand constant perfection in everything we do, we can be disappointed and our poor self-image will continue. If our goal is to reach perfection, we are destined to fail from the start.
31. What is the purpose of Paragraph 3?
A. To confirm the effect of changing self-image.
B. To clarify the principle of changing self-image.
C. To propose a new view on changing self-image.
D. To stress the importance of changing self-image.
32. According to the author, how should we regard our past mistakes?
A. They are part of our growth.
B. They are warnings for future.
C. They are tools for overcoming fear.
D. They are barriers to our development.
33. Which of the following would be the best title of the passage?
A. We Are What We Do
B. Be the Best We Can Be
C. We Are What We Think We Are
D. What We Are Decides What We Think
34. Which situation agrees with the idea of the passage?
A. To outshine his colleagues, Joe sets an idealistic goal.
B. To get along with her classmates, Doris always humbles herself.
C. To become a star player, Alex repeatedly plays back his faults in his mind.
D. To win a speech contest, Tina visualizes herself speaking more confidently.

根据第四段中“Our errors or humiliation over mistakes are necessary steps in learning. It is all right to make mistakes. But when they have taught us what we did wrong, we should forget them and not think about them repeatedly. (我们的错误或因过失产生的羞愧感,都是学习中必要的阶段。犯错并无大碍。但当错误让我们认识到自身问题后,便应将其淡忘,而非反复纠结)”可知,作者认为过去的错误是学习中的必要步骤,我们应该把它们看作我们成长的一部分。故选A项。
通读全文,结合第一段中“Psychologists tell us our self-image defines what we believe we can and cannot do. Each of us over the years has built up belief about ourselves: Unconsciously, our pictures of who we are have been formed by past experiences. Our successes and failures, what others have told us and what we think people believe about us all help form impressions of what we think we are. Because self-image is so important in our growth, it is important to examine our concepts of self in order to reach our full potential.(心理学家指出,自我形象决定了我们对自己能力边界的认知。多年来,每个人都逐渐构建起对自我的信念——我们无意识地通过过往经历塑造了自我认知。无论是成功与失败、他人的评价,还是我们臆测中他人对我们的看法,都在共同构筑“我是谁”的认知图景。鉴于自我意象在个人成长中举足轻重,审视自我认知观念对充分发挥潜能至关重要)”可知,文章主要讨论了自我形象对我们的影响,以及如何通过改变自我认知来发掘我们的真正潜力。因此,C项“We Are What We Think We Are(我们就是我们自认为的那样)”最符合文章主旨,适合用作文章标题。
根据第二段中“Some psychologists suggest we begin to change our self-image by mentally picturing ourselves performing well at some task.

F. But try not to get caught up in the criticism or judgment of your writing.
G. It’s about understanding your inner world and how you fit into the outer world.
C 36. G 37. F 38. D 39. E
根据上文“Have you found focusing on yourself is at the bottom of the to-do list, because you feel everyone else in your life comes first?(你是否发现关注自己被排在待办事项清单的最后,因为你觉得生活中的其他人都是第一位的?)”
根据上文“This isn’t just about identifying your favorite outfit, haircut or flavor of ice cream.((关注自己)不仅仅是确定你最喜欢的衣服、发型或冰淇淋的味道)”可知,本句与上文构成转折,指出关注自己的真正含义。 This isn’t just about identifying和G选项It’s about understanding构成句法上的转折关系。
根据上文“There are many tools to help you develop a deeper sense of yourself, including journaling and other forms of creative expression. You can use a guided journal to explore your thoughts and feelings or just free write whatever comes to mind. It’s up to you what you want to do.(有很多工具可以帮助你发展更深层次的自我意识,包括日记和其他形式的创造性表达。你可以使用指南来探索你的想法和感受,或者只是自由地写下任何想到的东西。你想做什么由你自己决定)”可知,本段在陈述写日记能够更好地探索你的内心世界,但是仅仅专注于写日记就好, 不要去批判日记中自己的想法。此处的writing与F选项中journaling可以构成同义替换。故F选项“但是尽量不要陷入对你写作的批评或评判中”符合语境,故选F。
【38题详解】
根据后文“Take note of how you respond to people, what makes you happy, and what makes you unhappy. This can help you identify patterns that are holding you back, such as feeling insecure or being easily angered. Once you’ve identified these patterns, you can work to change them.(注意你对别人的反应,什么让你快乐,什么让你不快乐。这可以帮助你识别阻碍你前进的模式,比如缺乏安全感或容易生气。一旦你确定了这些模式,你就可以努力改变它们)”可知,上一段陈述了一种关注自己内心世界的方法,而本段则是在陈述另外一种方法,因此D选项中Another way is to符合并列的条件,且本句的意思也与后面的“关注自己在人际交往中如何反应”相符合。故D选项“另一种方法是观察你在不同情况下的行为”符合语境,故选D。
【39题详解】
根据上文“An often overlooked yet very important factor in self-discovery is having healthy boundaries in your personal life.(自我发现的一个经常被忽视但非常重要的因素是在你的个人生活中有健康的界限)”以及后文“Clearly communicating your boundaries is also a way to show others that you are in control of your own behavior and can expect the same from them. This is a sign of maturity and respect, two characteristics that are key to having healthy relationships.(清楚地表达你的界限也是一种向别人表明你能控制自己的行为,并期望他们也能做到这一点的方式。
My First Semester Away: Navigating Discomfort in a New World
Stepping off the plane with a suitcase stuffed with winter clothes and a head full of expectations, I thought studying in the U.S. would be a smooth journey of self-discovery. Three weeks later, I sat in my dorm room, staring at an unopened bank form, and realized adaptation was harder than any textbook chapter I’d ever tackled.
The first challenge came from daily life. Opening a bank account turned into a two-hour ordeal (磨难) — YouTube tutorials couldn’t translate terms like “overdraft fee,” and the teller’s rapid accent left me nodding blankly. Even meals felt alien: the cafeteria’s cold salads and iced water clashed (冲突) with my habit of warm, cooked vegetables, so I joined other Asian students in boiling lettuce in a shared pot, a small rebellion against the unfamiliar. Academic adaptation brought another set of challenges: professors expected us to interrupt with questions, and “critical thinking” meant arguing against theories instead of memorizing them — a skill I’d never practiced. I left my first essay feedback session in confusion, staring at comments like “lack of analysis.”
Loneliness crept in fastest. My roommates were also international students, but language barriers and cultural gaps limited how much we could help each other. I’d scroll through photos of old friends gathering for dinner and feel a sharp pang of homesickness.
Change began when I stopped waiting for comfort to find me. I joined a photography club, and through shared shots of campus sunsets, I bonded with a girl who’d once struggled with the same banking forms. In class, I started raising my hand with simple questions, and soon found professors appreciated the effort more than perfect English.
Now, six months later, I still burn my coffee sometimes. But the bank form is filled out, I’ve learned to ask for “hot water, please,” and my last essay got a “good analysis” note. Adaptation isn’t about erasing the old to fit the new — it’s about stitching (缝合) the familiar into the foreign, one small win at a time.
40. What were the two aspects of the challenges the author faced?
____________________________________________
41. What made it difficult for the author to get along with the roommates?
____________________________________________
42. Please decide which part is false in the following statement, then underline it and explain why.
Six months later, I gradually adapt to the new environment and forget the old one.
____________________________________________
43. List one effective way to deal with the stress caused by adapting to a new environment, and explain why it is helpful. (In about 40 words)
____________________________________________
40. Daily life and academic adaptation.
41. Language barriers and culture gaps.
42. Six months later, I gradually adapt to the new environment and forget the old one.
According to the passage, the author believes adaptation isn’t about erasing the old to fit the new — it’s about stitching the familiar into the foreign.
43. (I think) joining a club or workshop based on my hobbies is helpful. This gives me immediate social connection and shared joy, which directly helps me cope with loneliness and creates positive experiences in the new environment.
根据文章第二段“The first challenge came from daily life.(第一个挑战来自日常生活。)”以及“Academic adaptation brought another set of challenges: professors expected us to interrupt with questions, and “critical thinking” meant arguing against theories instead of memorizing them — a skill I’d never practiced.(学术适应带来了另一组挑战:教授们希望我们用问题打断他们,而“批判性思维”意味着反驳理论,而不是死记硬背——这是我从未练习过的技能。)” Daily life and academic adaptation.
根据文章第三段“My roommates were also international students, but language barriers and cultural gaps limited how much we could help each other.(我的室友也是国际学生,但语言障碍和文化差异限制了我们相互帮助的程度。)” Language barriers and culture gaps.
根据文章最后一段“Adaptation isn’t about erasing the old to fit the new — it’s about stitching (缝合) the familiar into the foreign, one small win at a time.(适应不是为了抹去旧的东西来适应新的东西,而是将熟悉的东西拼接成外国的东西,一次一个小小的胜利。)” 因此原句中的“forget the old one”表述错误。 Six months later, I gradually adapt to the new environment and forget the old one. According to the passage, the author believes adaptation isn’t about erasing the old to fit the new — it’s about stitching the familiar into the foreign.
(I think) joining a club or workshop based on my hobbies is helpful. This gives me immediate social connection and shared joy, which directly helps me cope with loneliness and creates positive experiences in the new environment.

Build a Healthy China Through Sports
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
As a student, I deeply believe sports are the golden key to a healthy life. Regular exercise not only strengthens our bodies but also sharpens our minds, helping us reduce stress and stay energetic for studies.
For students, I suggest that we take 30-minute daily activities like jogging or playing Ping-Pong; it is also a good idea to replace screen time with team sports such as basketball to build friendships. During the break, using school playgrounds creatively for fun workouts is a good choice, too. Remember, consistency matters more than intensity.
Let’s all embrace the spirit of sports — not merely as a duty, but as a joyful journey of self-discovery. Together, we can build a healthier China. (117 words)

A her parents’ background in air force
B. her experience of school activities
C. her instructor’s encouragements
D. her basic driving skills
25. When Maggie heard something wrong during takeoff, she ______.
A. landed the plane immediately
B. thought of her parents’ expectation
C. circled a few times to calm herself down
D. continued flying as if nothing had happened
26. Which words would best describe Maggie’s personality?
A. Proud and intelligent.
B. Positive and cautious.
C. Patient and responsible.
D Fearless and determined.
27. What can we learn from the passage?
A Failure is the mother of success.
B. A good beginning is half done.
C. Fortune favors the brave.
D. Practice makes perfect.

However, they are rarely boring or monotonous (单调的).
C a positive mindset helps us understand our well-being
D. we should never be content and always strive for the best
30. What is the main purpose of the article?
A. To compare different concepts of a good life.
B. To explain how to live a psychologically rich life.
C. To persuade people to attain psychological richness.
D. To draw attention to a less familiar version of a good life.
D
