Ever since she was a kid, she’d loved losing herself in stories—repeating lines from her favorite movies in front of the mirror, putting on little plays for her family on weekends. When the club announced auditions for the lead role in The Little Mermaid—her all-time favorite story—she didn’t hesitate to sign up. For two weeks before the audition, she carried the script everywhere: she read lines while walking to school, practiced expressions during lunch breaks, and even asked her little sister to play the “audience” every night after homework. But on the audition day, as soon as she stepped onto the stage in the school auditorium, her mind went blank. The bright lights made her squint, and the eyes of the club members and director felt like heavy weights on her shoulders. When she opened her mouth to speak Ariel’s first line, her voice shook so much that it cracked. She froze, hands twisting the edge of her dress, and then—horror of horrors—she forgot the next part entirely. A few soft giggles drifted from the back of the room, and Lily’s cheeks burned. She mumbled a quick “sorry” and ran out of the auditorium, tears streaming down her face. That night, she threw the script onto her desk and flopped onto her bed, staring at the ceiling. The giggles kept replaying in her head, and she felt a tight, terrible feeling in her chest—maybe she was just bad at this, maybe her dream of being in a play was stupid. But when she rolled over, she saw a photo taped to her wall: it was her at age 8, dressed as a fairy for a school Halloween play, grinning widely as she delivered her one line to the audience. Back then, she hadn’t cared if she messed up—she’d just been happy to be on stage. Lily picked up the photo, her fingers brushing the edge. “Maybe I shouldn’t give up so easily,” she whispered to herself, reaching for the script again. The next morning, Lily made a decision... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On the day of the second audition... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. Ryan never questioned his own abilities. He was known as the “idea machine” in the school because he could solve any problem with a clever solution. Teachers and classmates praised his creativity. To Ryan, success was natural, and teamwork seemed unnecessary. The school would hold an innovation (创新) contest. The theme was “Technology for a Better Tomorrow”. His team cheered when they heard they had been chosen to represent (代表) the school. But Ryan was different. He told himself, “This is my stage.” From the very beginning, Ryan took full control. He made plans, chose the technology, and even designed the presentation slides (幻灯片). His teammates became his assistants (助手)-Daniel bringing materials, Emma typing notes, and they following Ryan’s instructions. Whenever one of them, especially Emma, suggested a new idea, Ryan turned it down. “I know what works,” he would say. In his mind, they only slowed him down. After weeks of work, a smart recycling robot was built exactly as Ryan had planned. He was proud of its design and certain it would impress the judges. On the day of the contest, the team carried their project onto the stage. Other schools showed apps and energy-saving machines, each team member speaking with confidence and sharing roles equally. Ryan’s team, however, just stood behind him as he introduced the robot. At first, the speech went very well. The robot moved across the platform, picking up a plastic bottle and dropping it into the right box. Ryan smiled proudly. But then the judges began to ask questions. “How does the robot know different kinds of bottles?” one asked. Another judge asked about future improvements. Ryan couldn’t give an answer. He turned to his teammates for help, but they stood silently, unprepared. The judges exchanged their opinions. When the results were told, Ryan’s team was not among the winners. Ryan couldn’t accept the failure. After the contest, Ryan sat alone on the steps of the stage, his shoulders heavy and his head down. He couldn’t stop thinking about the contest. Just then, Emma walked over to Ryan. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After the conversation, Ryan decided to change. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3. As a freshman in high school, my world was often clouded by a thick fog of anxiety. Every day seemed like a battle, with my heart pounding in my chest and my mind filled with a thousand worries. Little did I know that one ordinary PE class would become a turning point, a moment left in my memory forever. It was a bright, sunny day. But on that particular afternoon, as I stepped onto the track for PE, a wave of panic enveloped me. I had no idea what caused it; perhaps it was the pressure of being in a new environment, or just the accumulated stress of my daily struggles. My breathing became rapid and shallow, and I felt like I was drowning in a sea of fear. Olivia, a senior teacher’s assistant, noticed my situation. She was a tall, elegant girl with long hair and a gentle smile. I had seen her around school before, always walking with a quiet confidence. I thought she was incredibly beautiful, but I had never dared to speak to her. To my surprise, she walked over to me and said in her soft-spoken voice, “Come and sit by me.” I followed her numbly (呆呆地), my legs feeling like they were made of lead. She guided me to a quiet corner of the playground and gently motioned for me to lie down with my head in her lap. At first, I was too shocked to react. I had never been in such close contact with someone I barely knew. But as I looked up at her kind face, a sense of calm began to wash over me. Olivia started to softly rub my hair and arm, her touch light and relieved. Then, she began to sing. Her voice was like a gentle breeze, carrying away my fears. It was a simple, melodic tune, one I didn’t recognize, but it didn’t matter. The sound of her singing filled the air around us, creating a sense of peace. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When I finally opened my eyes, I saw that Olivia was looking down at me with a gentle smile. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4. I had always thought language was just a subject in school until I stepped into college. Growing up in Kolkata, I studied at a government-aided secondary school. Though English was part of the curriculum, it never felt important. I could pass exams with minimal effort, so I never took it seriously. That changed the moment I began my first term of engineering. All the lectures were in English. I sat in class, trying to grasp what the professors were saying, but all my efforts were fruitless. I couldn’t follow the lessons, ask questions, or join in discussions. Outside the classroom, things were no better. My classmates quickly realized I struggled with English. Some laughed at me, while others simply ignored me. Slowly, I backed off. I avoided group outings and kept to myself for fear that I’d embarrass myself if I spoke. At the end of the term, I failed almost every subject. I stared at my school report in silence. My chest felt heavy, but I knew I had two choices— either giving up or fighting back. I chose the latter. I started small. I read English newspapers daily, carried an English dictionary in my backpack, and watched English videos with subtitles (字幕). Bit by bit, I improved. By the second term,I could finally understand lectures. But speaking was still a challenge. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t express myself fluently. By my final year, I had gained knowledge in my field but still failed in every campus interview — always rejected in the communication round. My parents were disappointed. My brother thought I hadn’t worked hard enough. I was stuck in a sense of helplessness. Then, one day, my cousin visited. He asked what was wrong and listened patiently. “You’ve done your part,” he said. “Now let someone help you.” He advised me to attend a spoken English class. I was hesitant. What if people found out? What if I failed again? Still, I signed up for the class. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A month later, I stood before an employer, nervous but prepared. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5. Nikki Corbett was desperate The mother and small business owner had searched online and in stores near her home in Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, but she could not find any books to teach her young children the Yup’ik language. Growing up, Corbett was more fluent in the language because she lived largely in the Yup’ik Community of Bethel, Alaska. “And so obviously being immersed in that, you understand more and can speak more”, Corbett said. But being away from it — the community that I live in, Yup’ik is not a language that’s normally spoken. More than 20% of the state’s population is native. Of the estimated 21,000 Alaskans who identify themselves as Yup’ik, nearly half speak the language. In fact, Yup’ik is the most commonly spoken native language in Alaska. Corbett might have been immersed in Yup’ik culture when she was growing up in Bethel. But that was not the case for every Alaska native. The control of native Americans and ignorance toward native language and culture had a lot to do with it. “The younger generations, like my generation, in some of those areas, don’t know the language because their parents didn’t teach them to speak Yup’ik,” Corbett said. “And so I think it’s because they wanted their children to follow suit, speaking the official language, especially at school.” There are immersion schools in Alaska that have Yup’ik learning materials, but Corbett said it was nearly impossible to find those books outside the classroom. So Corbett and her friend, Katie O’Connor, an illustrator and mother, decided to create their own Yup’ik alphabet coloring book. Katie O’Connor is an Inupiag artist based in Nome, Alaska. Growing up, O’Connor didn’t learn much about her own Inupiag culture until after high school. “There’s not a lot available out there. Most of the books related to any Alaska native culture are written by non-native people,” O’Connor said. “Most of them are written by people who aren’t from Alaska, and some are written by people who’ve never been to our region.” Corbett and O’Connor decided to team up with each other. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hardly had the 27-page coloring book appeared when it earned great popularity. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 6. “April 23 is English Language Day,” says Melissa, jumping up and down. “What a surprise, dear. What would we have done without you reminding us?” jokes Lindsay. Melissa burst out laughing loudly. “What I meant was that April 23 is a very special day for all of us and I just wanted to make sure none of you forgot about it.” “What are your plans for that day?” questions Rocky. “I want to do something special to promote our beautiful English language,” dreams Jennifer. “I have an idea,” says Lindsay. “Mango Street’s house No. 10 has been recently occupied (居住) by a family who is not fluent in the English language.” “Where are they from?” asks Melissa. “I don’t know that but I heard the lady talking to the grocery store owner. She had great difficulty explaining her requirements. Her son and daughter also could not understand much. Why don’t we help them improve their English?” wonders Jennifer. “It is a wonderful idea. Shall we go and let them know what we think?” asks Rocky. “Not now. We will go to meet them tomorrow,” decides Jason. The next day, the five friends ring the doorbell of house No.10. A young girl opens the door and smiles at them. “May we come in?” asks Melissa. “We are your neighbors.” The girl calls her mother. The sweet fat lady invites them inside with a smile. All of them sit on the chairs laid out on the front porch (门廊). Jason explains their plan of helping them understand and speak English better. The lady seems grateful. “We will help you in learning how to speak and understand our language,” says Lindsay. The lady smiles her thanks. She points to the fruits on the table. Rocky picks up one fruit at a time and names it. Jason asks her to repeat. She tries a few times and is able to call each fruit by its name. Her son and daughter learn the names too. Paragraph 1: The friends stay for about an hour. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: On April 23, the new family holds a party for the five children. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7. One of my teachers once asked my class what our favorite memory was. She was asking for the moment in which you felt that you had the world in the palm of your hand. Some described winning a tournament. Some described riding others' bikes at described winning a tournament. Some described riding others' bikes at the best when I first learned how to ride a bike. But I felt stares and snickering (窃笑), because I knew there was thirteen to my story. But I didn't tell my classmates. My brother and I shared a typical brotherly relationship: we couldn't stand each other. Or, to be honest, he couldn't stand me. I hero-worshipped him. My clothes mysteriously looked like his, and even my words tended to mimic those I heard from him. Many times,, I even wanted to literally follow my brother, sobbing every time I was prevented from hanging around with him. Needless to say, I was an annoyance to him. Any sort of conversation we had usually degraded to fighting, and try as I might, my brother usually won. After a while, I stopped trying to impress him and learned to be totally in different; perhaps the silent treatment would get more approval. I was wrong. We soon fell into a sad pattern I avoided him, he ignored me, and deep inside, it hurt. In different or hostile, he was only a brother in name. So that's how it was between us. I believed we would forever be apart, two housemates without conversation, two strangers without warmth. And nothing more. I still remember the day I learned to ride a bike. I had received it that Christmas, which was great, until I realized I had no idea how to ride it. My mom was too busy and had long since abandoned any attempt to teach me. I decided to teach myself to ride, a little bit each day, but in vain. On that fateful day, it was no different. I was coming to the end of my daily one-hour torture, and I was so frustrated that I threw my bike aside and began to cry. I guess that was what caused my brother to come outside. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ An hour later, I was showing off my riding skill to my mom. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 8. My ten-year-old son Mike plays for the local Boys & Girls Club basketball team. Every Wednesday, he and his teammates run, do skill training, and practice playing defense (防守). Knowing that I used to be a player, he longs to show me his skills each time he hits the court (球场). His team is a mixed bag of talent. Some kids can move the ball, pass, and shoot better than others. Some are more active and want to shoot every shot. Some kids who are still learning easily give up on plays when they are disappointed by the rules. Mike has a good coach, who values sharing, teamwork, and working together. At first, I was just a supportive dad cheering from the sidelines. But slowly, I became too focused on his performance, hoping he’d play like the NBA stars I admired. During one game that my wife and I attended, I shouted from the sidelines, telling him when to pass, when to shoot, and how to stand on defense. But all my instructions only made things worse. He lost all sense of direction and didn’t know what to do. When he made a mistake, he turned to me helplessly; his face was full of confusion and disappointment. It looked like he was about to cry. I saw in his eyes that I was no longer helping — I was hurting. On the way home after the game, Mike hardly spoke to me. His silence felt louder than any words. That night, I couldn’t sleep. I told my wife that I felt so terrible about my behavior. My expectations had put unnecessary pressure on my boy. With his experienced coach on the court, Mike could have performed really well. My wife helped me calm down and see the situation differently. She also gave me tips on how to do better and how to be his cheerleader without being so hard on him. I was thankful for her kind words. The next day, I said sorry to Mike and opened an honest conversation with him. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A few weeks later, Mike gladly invited me to watch their practice. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 9. It was a sunny Saturday morning when Charlotte and her brother, Felix, were getting ready for their family picnic. Their parents had prepared a delicious spread of sandwiches, fruit, and cookies, and everyone was excited about the outing. However, as they were loading the car, a quarrel broke out between Charlotte and Felix. Charlotte had carefully packed her favorite blanket, planning to use it for a pleasant spot under the trees. Felix, on the other hand, wanted to use the blanket for a makeshift fort (a quick, temporary shelter or play area made from available materials like blankets or boxes)with his friends. When Charlotte refused to give up the blanket, Felix stormed off, muttering (嘀咕) under his breath. Charlotte felt hurt and held onto the blanket, tears welling up in her eyes. Their parents noticed the tension and tried to mediate (调解), but both Charlotte and Felix were too upset to listen. The atmosphere in the car was thick with silence as they drove to the park. Charlotte glanced at Felix, who was staring out the window with a sad expression. She knew they needed to resolve their disagreement, but she didn’t know how to start. As they arrived at the park, Charlotte’s mom suggested they set up the picnic area together, hoping to ease the tension. Charlotte and Felix were unwilling to get out of the car and began to unload the items. Charlotte’s dad tried to lighten the mood by making a joke, but neither of them laughed. The sun was shining brightly, and the park was filled with families enjoying their weekend, but Charlotte and Felix couldn’t enjoy the moment. Charlotte’s heart ached as she saw Felix’s shoulders tense up whenever she moved closer to him. She knew they both wanted to have fun, but the quarrel had cast a shadow over their day. Charlotte decided to take the first step. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With the blanket in hand, Felix and Charlotte began building the fort. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10. It was my first year teaching in a special needs classroom, and I wasn’t sure what to expect at our annual Special Olympics track meet. My students had a range of challenges, from mild learning disabilities to severe palsy (瘫痪). Mark was one with the latter. Confined to a motorized wheelchair, he had to fight his spasms (痉挛) just to control his movements. Nevertheless, he always had a positive attitude and greeted everyone each morning with a huge smile. His classmates loved him and always took the time to make sure he was included in group activities, especially Mike, Andy and Lucas, three boys who excelled at sports. In my heart I knew Mark wanted to be like them, unrestricted by the limitations of his body, and watching the grace with which they moved on the playing field seemed to fill him with wonder. He never missed their competitions and always cheered for them. Seeing Mike, Andy and Lucas passing the finish line, Mark looked particularly excited. When track and field day came, Mike, Andy and Lucas placed well in their heats, and gave the normally peaceful crowd something to cheer about. Mark sat on the sidelines, cheering them on, placing last in his own heat because his wheelchair wouldn’t go fast enough. The final event of the day was the 400-meter race. Everyone was invited to either walk or run, according to their ability, around the entire length of the track. We watched as the sprinters took off — Mike, Andy and Lucas determined to prove who the better athlete was. But when the three exhausted runners reached the finish line, they paused and turned to look behind them. At the back of the crowd, determined not to be left behind, was Mark. His classmates had passed him by and even the slowest walkers were outdistancing him. Mark was alone on the track with over half the distance left to cover. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mark was moved to see his three friends come back and run with him. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 11. On the first day of senior high school, Sarah was in a mess (一团糟). She was carrying too many books and dropped her notebook on the floor. Just when she felt worried, a smiling girl came over. “Let me help you!” she said. This girl was Emma. Emma picked up (捡起) the notebook and showed Sarah where the classroom was. From that day on, they became good friends and always stayed with each other. A month later, their school had the first English speech contest Sarah and Emma decided to join it as a team. They talked about their plan happily and made a promise (许诺): after school, they would meet in the library to start getting ready. Sarah looked forward to (期待) it very much. After school, Sarah put her books into her bag quickly and ran to the library. She arrived on time, found a quiet corner and took out her notebook. But minutes went by (流逝), and Emma still didn’t come. Sarah waited for half an hour, but there was still no sign of Emma. She tried to send Emma a message, but got no reply. Sarah felt really worried — was Emma sick (生病) ? She also felt confused (迷茫的) and sad. Why didn’t Emma come or tell her? Their first big plan for the contest seemed to have a problem. Paragraph 1: Just as Sarah was about to pack (收拾) her things and leave, she heard a familiar voice calling her name. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: After the misunderstanding was settled (误会消除), they decided to prepare for the contest. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 12. Sarah, usually energetic before races, sat weakly on the bench. She looked pale. A stomach illness had hit her family, and she was still sick. Coach Davis stood beside her. “Sarah, can you run the anchor leg (最后一棒) tomorrow? It’s the most important job, but you are sick.” The anchor leg runner finishes the race, and Sarah was their fastest runner. Sarah breathed hard. “I... I have to, Coach. The team needs me.” But her voice shook, and sweat shone on her forehead. Nearby, Maya watched, her hands tight. She ran the third leg well but wasn’t the fastest. Seeing Sarah so sick worried her. What if Sarah got worse? In the locker room after practice, Maya sat next to Sarah. “Hey,” she said gently, “how are you really feeling?” Sarah looked down at her shaking hands. “Not great,” she admitted. “But I can’t let everyone down. The team is counting on me.” Maya took a deep breath. “I know you want to help, but what if running makes you worse? Maybe... maybe someone else should run the anchor leg this time?” Sarah’s eyes were filled with tears, “But who? It has to be someone fast.” “I could try,” Maya offered quietly. “I’ve been practicing hard. And Coach could help me prepare.” Sarah stared at her, “You’d really do that?” Maya nodded firmly, “Of course! We’re teammates. That’s what teammates do — we help each other when we need it most.” Coach Davis, who had been listening nearby, walked over. “Sarah, Maya makes a good point. Running while sick could hurt your health and the team’s chances. Sometimes the bravest thing is knowing when to step back. Don’t worry, the backup will take Maya’s place.” Sarah wiped her eyes. It was the hardest decision she’d ever made. “You’re right,” she finally said, her voice thick with emotion. “Maya, I trust you. You’ll be a great anchor leg.” Maya laughed and hugged her friend. “I’ll run like you’re right beside me!” The big race came the next day. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Maya smiled, “I wouldn’t have done it without your trust.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 期中复习之读后续写12篇 (Units1-4单元话题) 本资料共12篇专题训练,从上到下每单元依次对应3篇单元话题专题训练 单元 单元话题 Unit 1 A New Start 高中生活 Unit 2 Exploring English 语言学习 Unit 3 Family Matters 家庭生活 Unit 4 Friends Forever 朋友与友谊 1. Lily had always dreamed of joining the school’s drama club. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 The Courage to Try Again The next morning, Lily made a decision to practice smarter, not just harder. She went to her English teacher, Ms. Smith—who’d mentioned once that she’d acted in college—and asked for help. Every afternoon after school, they met in the empty music room, where the soft lighting felt less scary than the auditorium. Ms. Smith taught her to hold a small notebook in her hand (to calm her shaking fingers) and to take three slow breaths before starting. When Lily forgot a line, they’d pause, laugh, and break the line into smaller parts to memorize. Lily also recorded her lines on her phone and listened to them while walking her dog, so the words felt like second nature. Even when she messed up ten times in a row, she’d glance at the 8-year-old fairy photo on her wall and try again. On the day of the second audition, Lily’s hands still trembled a little—but she held her notebook, took her three breaths, and began. This time, she didn’t think about the giggles or the lights; she thought about Ariel’s courage to chase a new world, just like she was chasing hers. When she finished, the room was quiet for a second—and then the director clapped. “Lily, that’s the heart we need,” he said. A week later, she got an email: she wasn’t the lead, but she’d gotten the role of Flounder, Ariel’s best friend, with two small singing lines. She ran to show Ms. Smith, grinning. For Lily, it wasn’t about the big role—it was about proving to herself that facing fear, even with shaky hands, was worth it. 记忆:memorize/remember   ②.颤抖: tremble/shake/shiver ③.完成:finish/complete/accomplish 情绪类 ①.令人害怕的:scary/frightening/terrifying ②.勇气:courage/bravery 【点睛】[高分句型1]. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: Just then, Emma walked over to Ryan. Ryan, who didn’t want anyone to see his tears, wiped them quickly and turned his face away to avoid Emma’s eyes. But Emma didn’t leave. Instead, her voice was soft, “Ryan, you don’t have to carry everything by yourself. We could have answered those questions together if we had prepared as a real team,” she said. Her words cut through the silence like a light in the dark. Ryan realized how serious a mistake he had made. After the conversation, Ryan decided to change. At the next practice, Ryan asked everyone to share their ideas and listened closely, even when they disagreed. The room was full of energy: Emma worked on the blueprint, Daniel improved the design, and Ryan tested the machine. Months later, when they returned with a new project, each teammate spoke with confidence. Although the prize was important, what mattered more was their teamwork. Ryan realized that true innovation did not belong to one person, but to many hearts working together. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①擦掉:wipe/brush away ②避开:avoid/keep off ③改进:improve/enhance 情绪类 ①温柔的:soft/gentle ②仔细地:closely/carefully 【点睛】[高分句型1]Ryan, who didn’t want anyone to see his tears, wiped them quickly and turned his face away to avoid Emma’s eyes.(who引导的非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2]Although the prize was important, what mattered more was their teamwork.(although引导的让步状语从句以及what引导的主语从句) 3. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】   The sound of her singing filled the air around us, creating a sense of peace. The rapid thumping of my heart slowed down gradually, and the shallow breaths turned deep and steady. The sunlight filtered through the leaves above, dappling her face with warm spots, and for a moment, all my worries about the new school, the endless pressure, and the fear of fitting in vanished. I closed my eyes, letting her soft voice wrap around me like a cozy blanket, and the panic that had drowned me just minutes before faded into the background.       When I finally opened my eyes, I saw that Olivia was looking down at me with a gentle smile. “Feeling better?” she asked, her fingers still brushing lightly through my hair. I nodded, too moved to speak, and she helped me sit up slowly. “Anxiety’s like a storm,” she said quietly, “it feels huge now, but it always passes.” Before we walked back to the class, she handed me a small note with her phone number. “Text me if you ever need to talk,” she said. That day, Olivia didn’t just calm my panic — she gave me a little light to hold onto in my foggy days. 消失:vanish/disappear ②.帮助:help/do sb a favor/assist   ③.返回:walk back to/return 情绪类 ①.焦虑:worry/anxiety ②.感动的:moved/touched   【点睛】[高分句型1]. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Still, I signed up for the class. The classroom was filled with people who were eager to improve their spoken English, just like me. The teacher was very kind and patient. She taught us how to pronounce words correctly and how to use common expressions in daily conversations. I found that I enjoyed the class, where I could practice speaking without worrying about being laughed at. I knew that this was my chance to turn things around, and I was determined to make the most of it. A month later, I stood before an employer, nervous but prepared. The interview was in English, which used to be my biggest fear. However, now I felt more confident. The employer seemed impressed by my performance. When he told me that I had passed the interview, I couldn’t believe my ears. All the hard work and effort had finally paid off. I realized that with determination and the right help, I could overcome any challenge that came my way. 词汇激活 行为类 ①教:teach/instruct ②练习:practice/drill/rehearse ③复习:review/go over/revise 情绪类 ①渴望的:eager/anxious/keen ②自信的:confident/self-assured 【点睛】【高分句型1】The classroom was filled with people who were eager to improve their spoken English, just like me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Corbett and O’Connor decided to team up with each other. Corbett, with her deep knowledge of the Yup’ik language and culture, would handle the text, ensuring accuracy and authenticity. O’Connor, on the other hand, would bring the illustrations to life with her artistic skills. They spent countless hours researching, designing, and refining their work, aiming to create a book that would not only teach children the Yup’ik alphabet but also spark an interest in their cultural heritage. The two mothers were determined to make a difference and preserve the Yup’ik language for future generations. Hardly had the 27-page coloring book appeared when it earned great popularity. The response was overwhelming, with parents, educators, and community members praising the book for its cultural significance and educational value. Sales soared, and the book quickly became a must-have for families and schools interested in Yup’ik language and culture. Corbett and O’Connor’s collaboration not only fulfilled their initial goal but also inspired others to take action in preserving and promoting their native languages and cultures. Their story became a beacon of hope, showing that with determination and creativity, even the smallest efforts can make a big difference. 词汇激活 行为类: ①处理:handle/deal with ②研究:research/investigate ③改进:refine/improve ④激发兴趣:spark an interest in/stimulate interest in ⑤保存:preserve/conserve 情感类: ①决心:be determined to/make up one’s mind ②赞扬:praise/commend ③激励:inspire/motivate ④希望:hope/optimism 【点睛】[高分句型1]. The lady offers lemonade and cupcakes to all of them and says goodbye, smiling happily. The friends visit the new family every day after school and help them to learn new words and sentences. In about two weeks, the newcomers are able to communicate in pretty good English and have no difficulty at the supermarket and at various social gatherings. On April 23, the new family holds a party for the five children. They intend to thank these kind children. Through their efforts they have made speaking and understanding English easy for them. Jason and Jennifer together with their parents come to the party and so do the others. The hostess gives a speech at the end, praising the warm-hearted kids, who have helped them overcome their difficulty in speaking the English language and made them feel comfortable in a new place. 词汇激活 行为类 提供某物给某人:offer sth. to sb./provide sth. for sb. 拜访:visit/pay a visit to 帮助:help/assist 克服:overcome/get over 情绪类 高兴地:happily/cheerfully 感谢:thank/appreciate 【点睛】【高分句型1】The lady offers lemonade and cupcakes to all of them and says goodbye, smiling happily.(运用了现在分词作状语) 【高分句型2】The hostess gives a speech at the end, praising the warm-hearted kids, who have helped them overcome their difficulty in speaking the English language and made them feel comfortable in a new place. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】    I guess that was what caused my brother to come outside. I turned my face away, fearing he would tease me. Unexpectedly, he gently picked my bike up and gestured me over, “Get on it.” His determined look smoothed away my doubts. As he gripped the back seat, I got on the bike, took a deep breath and started to pedal, holding tightly onto the handlebars. During the whole process, we didn’t talk much. He simply offered a few necessary instructions at times. But never once did he shout at me, nor did he let me fall. His patient teaching proved efficient and I gradually got the hang of riding. An hour later, I was showing off my riding skill to my mom. She was amazed to see me riding steadily around the yard. While sharing my learning experience with her in excitement, I noticed my brother standing at a distance smiling at me. I cast him a grateful look and he nodded and then walked back into the house. From that day on, the sad pattern between us began to change. There were occasional conversations between us, filled with less embarrassment but increasing concern. I could feel a different kind of brotherly relationship slowly developing between us. I would always treasure that day as my favourite memory, the moment when I felt the best. 词汇激活 行为类 ①捡起某物:pick sth. up/lift sth. up/pick sth. off the ground ②招手示意:gesture sb. over/wave sb. over/signal sb. to come ③紧握:grip/hold tightly/clutch firmly 情绪类 ①惊讶的:amazed/surprised/astonished ②兴奋地:in excitement/excitedly 【点睛】【高分句型1】I turned my face away, fearing he would tease me.(运用了现在分词作状语和省略that引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】As he gripped the back seat, I got on the bike, took a deep breath and started to pedal, holding tightly onto the handlebars.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句) 8. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The next day, I said sorry to Mike and opened an honest conversation with him. I admitted that I had put too much pressure on him with my expectations and that I had been more of a judge than a supporter. Surprisingly, he said that he understood I only wanted the best for him. He shared how much he enjoyed having me there, not to correct him, but to support him and see his progress. With this meaningful conversation, Mike’s spirits improved greatly and we understood each other better. And I realized I needed to make changes to be a better father. A few weeks later, Mike gladly invited me to watch their practice. This time, I decided to deal with it differently. I just encouraged Mike to be more confident, and cheered when he made good plays. With some active practice, he made several baskets successfully and ran to me with a big smile. For the first time, I was part of his world without pushing him — just a proud dad sharing the moment. We’ve become much more connected since the practice. I have learned that the best support is to allow your kids to enjoy sports and progress in their own way. 词汇激活 行为类 ①承认:admit/acknowledge/confess ②鼓励:encourage/inspire/motivate ③欢呼:cheer/shout with joy 情绪类 ①惊讶地:surprisingly/in surprise ②自信的:confident/self-assured 【点睛】【高分句型1】I admitted that I had put too much pressure on him with my expectations and that I had been more of a judge than a supporter.(运用了that引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】I have learned that the best support is to allow your kids to enjoy sports and progress in their own way.(运用了that引导的宾语从句) 9. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】      Charlotte decided to take the first step. She walked over to Felix, who was still sulking by the car. “Felix,” she said softly, “I’m sorry for not letting you use the blanket earlier. I know you wanted to build a fort with your friends. Maybe we can share the blanket? We can use it for a picnic spot first, and then you can have it for your fort after we eat.” Felix looked up, surprise evident on his face. “Okay,” he mumbled. Charlotte felt a wave of relief wash over her, knowing that their day could still be saved.       With the blanket in hand, Felix and Charlotte began building the fort. They worked together. Their friends joined in, adding their own touches to the makeshift shelter. As they worked, the tension between Charlotte and Felix melted away, replaced by laughter and teamwork. When the fort was finally completed, they all crawled inside, sharing stories and snacks. The sun continued to shine, and the park was filled with the sounds of joy and camaraderie. Charlotte looked at Felix and knew that they had not only resolved their quarrel but had also created a memorable day together. 词汇激活 行为类 ①走向:walk over to/move towards ②消散:melt away/fade away ③完成:complete/finish 情绪类 ①抱歉:sorry/apologetic ②惊讶:surprise/shock 【点睛】[高分句型1] She walked over to Felix, who was still sulking by the car. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】高分范文 Mark was alone on the track with over half the distance left to cover. Mike, Andy and Lucas looked at each other, and a silent thought passed among them. They nodded to each other and turned around together. They jogged back towards their friend Mark and slowly enfolded him in a tight circle and kept pace, cheering him on as he had done for them moments before. Seeing what they did, the whole field was boiling. All the audience stood up and cheered for the four friends. Mark was moved to see his three friends come back and run with him. He had never imagined that they could run with him on the track. The progress was slow, but in the end the three star sprinters and Mark crossed the finish line together to the enthusiastic cries of their teachers and classmates. Seeing the smile on Mark’s face, I came to understand what makes the Special Olympics and the determined athletes who compete so extraordinary. Years later, I still remember the day. That’s not just because of the competition, but because of the warm friendship between Mark and his fast friends. 词汇激活 行为类: ①转身:turn around /turn back ②慢跑:jog /trot ③包围:enfold /surround 情感类: ①热情的:enthusiastic /passionate ②非凡的:extraordinary /remarkable 【点睛】[高分句型1] Seeing what they did, the whole field was boiling. It was Emma. Sarah turned around and saw Emma running towards her breathlessly. ‌“I’m so sorry, Sarah,” Emma said. ‌“I was delayed by my math teacher. She wanted to talk to me about my recent progress. I tried to come as soon as possible, but I still made you wait for so long.” Sarah felt relieved when she heard Emma’s explanation. She knew that Emma was a responsible student and would never break her promise on purpose. Paragraph 2: After the misunderstanding was settled, they decided to prepare for the contest. They discussed the topic of the speech and divided the work. Sarah would be in charge of writing the script, while Emma would focus on practicing the pronunciation and intonation. They spent several days and nights working hard. Finally, the day of the contest came. Sarah and Emma performed well on the stage. Their speech was full of passion and confidence. At the end of the contest, they won the first prize. They were very excited and happy. They knew that this success was not only their own, but also the result of their teamwork and friendship. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①看见:see/spot/catch sight of ②耽搁:delay/detain/procrastinate ③分配:divide/allocate 情绪类 ①如释重负:feel relieved/feel a sense of relief ②高兴:happy/glad/pleased 【点睛】[高分句型1] Sarah felt relieved when she heard Emma’s explanation.(运用了从属连词when引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2] She knew that Emma was a responsible student and would never break her promise on purpose.(运用了连词that引导宾语从句) [高分句型3] They knew that this success was not only their own, but also the result of their teamwork and friendship.(运用了连词that引导宾语从句) 12. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Maya smiled, “I wouldn’t have done it without your trust.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】The big race came the next day. Sarah stood on the sidelines, cheering louder than anyone. When Maya got the baton for the final leg, Sarah screamed, “Go, Maya! After the race, Sarah ran to hug Maya. “You are amazing!” she said, her eyes shining. “I’m so proud of you!” Maya smiled, “I wouldn’t have done it without your trust.” Sarah realized then that true teamwork wasn’t just about running your fastest — it was about knowing when to pass the position. She might not have run the race, but she’d helped win it in a different way. Coach Davis put a hand on each girl’s shoulder, “Today you both showed what real champions are made of — courage, trust, and putting the team first. That’s worth more than any trophy.” 助威:cheer /encourage/boost morale ②.完成:finish/complete/accomplish ③.组成:be made up of/consist of 情绪类 ①.极好的:amazing/wonderful/excellent ②.骄傲:be proud of/feel a sense of pride/take pride in 【点睛】[高分句型1].
