Last year, as my 9-year-old son, Leopold, and I were preparing for a mom-son ski trip to Keystone, I came up with a rule: We would say yes to everything, including food and experiences—especially new ones.
Leopold is a picky eater and can be hesitant to try new things. I was hoping to find a way to encourage him without turning to worn-out proverbs like “If you don’t try it, you’ll never know if you like it.” So I borrowed the idea of a Yes Day, something our family has done a handful of times since watching the movie of the same name.
We started saying yes before we even boarded our flight, when we stopped at a breakfast buffet at the airport. For me, that meant I sampled a vegan meatball (素食肉丸), while Leopold tried a mouse bite of hash browns (土豆饼) he said looked “funny”. Neither of us went back for seconds, but we each rated our new foods as “not bad.”
The next day, after we got settled at our hotel, I took Leopold to meet his snowboarding instructor. He had taken a few lessons back at home but had never had the opportunity to snowboard on a mountain of this size. While he was in snowboarding school, I skied by myself. Inspired by Leopold, who had kept to our bargain and faced his fears time and time again, I challenged myself to ski an intermediate blue run (中级赛道). There was a part that was steeper (更陡峭) than I thought, but I did my slow, diligent S-turns and I made it down without being hurt. I was proud of myself for trying something new.
Later that afternoon, when Leopold and I were reunited back at the room, he asked if we could try the outdoor hot bath. Mind you, it was winter, and the only thing I hate more than being cold is being cold and wet When I started to object, Leopold quoted our rule.
Yes, it was cold, and yes, I was wet. But it was also refreshing to feel the cold air on my skin, and the warm water felt that much better once we got in. Getting out was a different story, but the experience was a delight as Leopold and I braved it together.
24. Why did the author suggest the “say yes” rule?
A. Her son demanded too much of food.
B. Her son was unwilling to try new things.
C. They hoped to keep their family tradition.
D They liked to live a life shown in a movie.
25. During the trip, Leopold ________.
A. complained about the food there
B. proposed to take an outdoor bath
C. chose to ski a medium-level track
D. was afraid of skiing on a mountain
26. According to the passage, which word can best describe Leopold?
A. Determined. B. Outgoing. C. Modest. D. Creative
27. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Take life as it comes.
B. Like mother, like son.
C. Brave attempt offers delight.
D. Extreme joy produces sorrow.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has demonstrated competence across various sectors, but matching human creativity remains hard to achieve. However, companies like StoryFit are using AI in a much novel way, particularly in the film industry, where it is revolutionizing how scripts are developed, and stories are told.
Initially, Monica Landers, founder and CEO of StoryFit, used AI technology to aid publishers in narrowing down their “slush piles” (未处理的文稿) to a shortlist of promising books. However, StoryFit found the publishing industry’s growth potential insufficient and targeted the film industry instead. Consequently, it has become the force behind several successful films in recent years.
Primarily, StoryFit analyzes a script’s (剧本) marketability, assessing where a story fits with the audience and how each storytelling element resonates (引起共鸣). The film industry is high-risk, with considerable investments required before generating returns. StoryFit provides data on whether those risks are likely to be fruitful. StoryFit’s AI technology checks character traits (特征) to evaluate audience responses, determining how heroic or relatable a main character might be. This information allows creative professionals to identify potential character imbalances.
Beyond marketability StoryFit also analyzes audience connections to the storyline, offering insights into aspects such as the audience’s emotional journey throughout an episode or the impact of a favorite character’s departure. The company also reports on plot inconsistencies, such as characters behaving consistently with their established traits or disappearing from the storyline. Nevertheless, Landers emphasizes that their role is to draw insights from the data rather than comment on the script. She stated, “You have people whose whole careers are based on making those decisions. But we can be a technology voice that helps them to shine a light on what’s happening or not happening in the script.”
Using AI technology like StoryFit in the film industry demonstrates artificial intelligence’s potential to enhance storytelling. As the technology advances, its impact on the film industry will only grow, paving the way for more engaging and resonant cinematic experiences.
28. What caused StoryFit to shift its focus from publishing to films?
A. The financial difficulties.
B. The limited growth prospect.
C. The decreasing customer base.
D. The insufficient AI competence.
29. What is StoryFit able to do according to Paragraph 3?
A. rewrite scripts for a wider audience.
B. Determine the amount of investment.
C. Evaluate scripts’ potential for success.
D. Facilitate the process of screen writing.
30. According to Landers, what is StoryFit’s role in script analysis?
A. A data-driven advisor.
B. A decision-maker.
C. A marketing specialist.
D. A content developer.
31. What is the author’s attitude toward the application of AI in the film industry?
A. Unclear. B. Supportive.
C. Objective. D. Concerned.
D
Apart from their often stunning flowers, plants and trees, what comes to mind when you think about gardens? Providing aesthetic (审美的) pleasure, gardening surprisingly offers numerous benefits for mental and physical well-being.
According to a study conducted by UK’s Royal Horticultural Society (RHS,皇家园艺学会) and two universities, individuals who engage in daily gardening tend to have well-being scores that are 6.6 percent higher and stress levels that are 4.2 percent lower than those who do not garden at all. Many study participants noted that gardening provides them with a sense of relaxation, satisfaction, and happiness.
“This research provides further data to support the value of gardening and gardens for mental restoration and promoting calmness of mind,” said co-author Ross Cameron of the University of Sheffield. Since 2019, the UK National Health Service has recommended gardening as a form of treatment.
Gardening improves people’s mental well-being by making community ties stronger. In 2020, the RHS conducted an experiment in which their researchers provided pre-planted tubs (花盆) in a community, which turned out to foster pride in the community. People engaged in conversations with neighbors for the first time in years, while non-participants bought plants after seeing their neighbors gardening. According to the research, the level of cortisol, a hormone that regulates stress, was found to have significantly increased as well. This indicated a positive impact on stress reduction. Moreover, a study by Takasaki University in Japan showed that gardening helps people feel happier and more connected through activities like family gardening and community harvest festivals.
Gardening is also good for the body. “Gardening is like effortless exercise because it doesn’t feel as strenuous (费力的) as going to the gym, for example, but we can expend similar amounts of energy,” said Lauriane Chalmin-Pui, an RHS study researcher in a press release. Fourteen percent of the respondents also noted that gardening helped maintain or promote physical exercise. In addition to burning calories and building muscle strength and flexibility, gardening offers direct sun exposure, which can boost vitamin D levels and reduce blood pressure.
“One of the key things that we have forgotten as human beings is that we’re animals, and we’re part of a system,” Alistair Griffiths, the director of Science and Collections at RHS, added. “People see themselves as separate from nature, but we’re very much a part of it. What we have around us in our environment is critical to our well-being.”
32. What is the finding of the study by RHS and two universities?
A. Gardeners score higher in fitness test.
B. Gardens can help cure mental disorder.
C. People tend to feel no stress in gardens.
D. Gardening improves health and happiness.
33. How does gardening contribute to people’s mental well-being?
A. It makes people proud of themselves.
B. People are desperate to celebrate the harvest.
C. It strengthens their relationships with neighbors.
D People feel less stressed due to the hormones in plants.
34. Which would be the best title for this passage?
A. The Magic Power of Gardening
B. Gardening for Mind Development
C. A New Option for Workout
D. Unexpected Joys in Gardens

根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Great people overcome challenges and achieve remarkable things. Resilience (坚韧) is what helps them bounce back from difficulties and persist through challenges. If you want to achieve success, be resilient. ____35____ Resilience, after all, is a skill you can learn through purposeful actions and mindset shifts, not necessarily an innate (天生的) personality trait.
____36____ For example, if you’re rejected from a job, view it as an opportunity for growth rather than a final failure. By adopting this mindset, you recognize that not getting the job doesn’t diminish your worth or skills. Instead, it simply wasn’t the right fit at that moment.
____37____ Along with a resilient mindset, focus on effort and progress over perfection. ____38____ Instead, concentrate on the progress you make and the effort you put in. For instance, a writer who prioritizes regular publishing over perfecting each post is more likely to build resilience and improve over time.
In addition to adjusting your mindset, there are practical steps you can take to strengthen resilience in your daily life. Practice stress management techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness. ____39____ Challenge your brain with activities like puzzles or by learning new skills. By incorporating these strategies into your life, you can develop the resilience to overcome challenges and achieve something great.
A Build your brain’s resilience through admitting a failure.
B. Adopt a “not yet” mindset instead of an “I can’t” attitude.
C. Acquiring that isn’t as easy as it seems, but not impossible.
D. Obtaining resilience is not possible if you are not born with it.
E. This view helps you learn from disappointments and keep going.
F. Perfectionism can stop you from finishing tasks and learning from them.
G. Stay active with regular physical exercise to support both your body and mind.
第三部分:书面表达(共两节,32分)
第一节(共4小题;第40、41题各2分,第42题3分,第43题5分,共12分)
阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英语回答问题。请在答题卡指定区域作答。
How do you define a good life? Many would answer a happy life or a meaningful one. However, there could be a third answer: a “psychologically rich” life. According to a recent study, psychological richness in life is defined by extraordinary, diverse, and complex experiences that crucially lead to a change in perspective (思维方式).
Across three surveys involving 1,336 college students, Shige Oishi from the University of Virginia and Erin Westgate from the University of Florida discovered that individuals were able to tell psychological richness from happiness and meaning by evaluating their own lives and well-being. “Unlike happy or meaningful lives, a psychologically rich life needs a variety of interesting and perspective-changing experiences,” wrote the researchers in their paper.
They also pointed out that moving to another country, transitioning (转变) to a different career, or engaging with challenging art are three examples of the type of psychological richness that people seek.
A change in perspective, which often means personal growth, can arise from unique experiences. For instance, study abroad programs can transform our thinking about life, while secondhand experiences from literature and film can also enrich our psychological perspective.
“Humans created art and culture to essentially help themselves go through a wealth of experiences secondhand,” Oishi said.
Some individuals, as a survey of 3,728 people across nine countries revealed, might choose a psychologically rich life filled with curiosity and exploration over a simply happy one. About 16 percent of participants from Germany, India, and South Korea preferred the former.
A psychologically rich life, however, is not that you have to chase after new and exciting experiences all the time. Rather, living a psychologically rich life is to remain curious about life in its fullness, and not limit yourself to the comforts of what you already know.
40. What defines a psychologically rich life, according to the study?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
41. How could individuals figure out psychological richness?

Last year as my 9-year-old son, Leopold, and I were preparing for a mom-son ski trip to Keystone, I came up with a rule: We would say yes to everything, including food and experiences—especially new ones.
D. They liked to live a life shown in a movie.
25. During the trip, Leopold ________.
A. complained about the food there
B. proposed to take an outdoor bath
C. chose to ski a medium-level track
D. was afraid of skiing on a mountain
26. According to the passage, which word can best describe Leopold?
A. Determined. B. Outgoing. C. Modest. D. Creative
27. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Take life as it comes.
B. Like mother, like son.
C. Brave attempt offers delight.
D. Extreme joy produces sorrow.
【答案】24. B 25. B 26. A 27. C

Beyond marketability, StoryFit also analyzes audience connections to the storyline, offering insights into aspects such as the audience’s emotional journey throughout an episode or the impact of a favorite character’s departure.
A A data-driven advisor.
B. A decision-maker.
C. A marketing specialist.
D. A content developer.
31. What is the author’s attitude toward the application of AI in the film industry?
A. Unclear. B. Supportive.
C. Objective. D. Concerned.

D. People feel less stressed due to the hormones in plants.
34. Which would be the best title for this passage?

B. Gardening for Mind Development
C. A New Option for Workout
D. Unexpected Joys in Gardens

考查推理判断。根据第三段“They also pointed out that moving to another country, transitioning (转变) to a different career, or engaging with challenging art are three examples of the type of psychological richness that people seek.(他们还指出,移居到另一个国家,过渡到不同的职业,或从事具有挑战性的艺术是人们寻求心理丰富的三个例子。)”、第四段“For instance, study abroad programs can transform our thinking about life, while secondhand experiences from literature and film can also enrich our psychological perspective. (例如,留学项目可以改变我们对生活的看法,而来自文学和电影的间接体验也能丰富我们的心理视角。)”和第五段““Humans created art and culture to essentially help themselves go through a wealth of experiences secondhand,” Oishi said.(“人类创造艺术和文化,本质上是为了帮助自己经历丰富的二手体验,”Oishi说。)”可知,原句中“but not secondhand experiences from literature and film (但不是来自文学和电影的二手经验)”表述错误。因为人们可以从改变视角的经历中寻求心理上的丰富性,包括搬到另一个国家,过渡到不同的职业,以及从文学和电影中获得的二手经验。故答案为:People can seek psychological richness from studying abroad and transitioning to a different career, but not secondhand experiences from literature and film.
People can seek psychological richness from perspective-changing experiences, including moving to another country, transitioning to a different career, and secondhand experiences from literature and film.
【43题详解】
考查归纳概括。通读全文,根据第一段“lead to a change in perspective (导致观点的改变)”、第四段“a change in perspective, which often means personal growth(观点的转变,这往往意味着个人成长)”及末段“remain curious about life in its fullness, and not limit yourself to the comforts (对生活的全貌保持好奇,不要局限于安逸的状态)”可知,需整合思维转变、个人成长、保持好奇心等核心益处。心理丰富的生活可以带来有意义的观点变化,这通常有助于显著的个人成长。此外,它让我们对生活充满好奇,帮助我们避免把自己局限在熟悉的舒适中。这有益于我们开拓创新。 故答案为:It can bring a meaningful change in perspective, which usually contributes to significant personal growth. Additionally, it keeps us fully curious about life and helps avoid confining ourselves to familiar comforts. This is beneficial for us to pioneer and innovate.

【答案】Dear Jim,
I’m so excited to hear you’re planning a trip to Beijing —welcome in advance! You mentioned being interested in Beijing’s parks, and I think Beihai Park is a perfect choice for you.
It’s one of the oldest and most beautiful imperial parks in the city, with a history of over 1,000 years. You can walk around the quiet lake, admire the traditional Chinese pavilions (like the White Pagoda on the hilltop, which offers great views of the park), and even rent a boat to enjoy the scenery on the water. What’s more, it’s not as crowded as some other popular spots, so you can relax and feel the peaceful atmosphere of old Beijing easily.
Let me know if you want more details about how to get there. I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip!
Yours,
Li Hua
