3.Night of the Lake 4.Ocean at the Sunset 2.Garden along the Seine River I was in 7th grade when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was very sudden and unexpected for our family and obviously I was beaten. I tried my best to balance my first year of middle school and my home life, even if I knew this was impossible. I hated coming home from school every day for fear of what I would see when I got home. I hated seeing my mom sick all the time; she was not herself and all I wanted was for her to stop treatment and get better. Luckily, I had lots of support from my family, friends, and teachers during this hard time to help get me through it. At the beginning of the year, I was determined to stay on track with my homework and studying and get through my first year at middle school successfully. Slowly, I started to become more distracted while at home with taking care of my mom, cleaning the house and helping my grandma cook our meals. While I was at school, I could escape and put my mom’s sickness in the back of my mind while I hung out with my friends and enjoyed playing. I noticed that my quiz and test grades were increasingly getting worse, but I never brought this to the attention of my mom because I did not want to worry her. Eventually, all of my grades were lower than C’s. I knew that I was not doing well at school, and I needed to get my grades back up. I knew that a lot of my teachers were cutting me some unimportant work because they knew what was happening at home. Ms. Zazoski, my English teacher was the most supportive teacher that I have ever had and I am so glad that I was in her class that year. One day my teacher had me stay after school to have a talk with her. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That was the motivation that I needed to improve my grades. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 02 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 When Aiden asked me to accompany him on a camping trip to the mountains, I envisioned a log cabin with a crackling fireplace, hot cocoa, and bunk beds. Imagine how my rustic, yet comfortable image of camping became a nightmare when Aiden and his older brother, Lebron, showed up with a truck filled with camping supplies-tents, rolled-up sleeping bags, and canteens! I did pack a backpack, as instructed, but I had no idea we were going on survival training! Lebron, ever so efficient, had a schedule to keep, and he hurried me to get in so we could leave the city hustle and bustle behind us. Ahead, the mountains loomed bigger than I had remembered them; the trees were larger, and the environment was much more dangerous. At least the weather was amazing — cotton-candy clouds dotted the deep blue sky. At the trailhead, Lebron strapped a sleeping bag onto my pack and lectured Aiden and me about hiking etiquette. The first part of the trail looked more like a wooded road that led up the mountains than a hiking path. Soon, the path became narrower and steeper, forcing me to focus on the task at hand and to talk less. As we gained elevation, we moved above the tree line, and I could see the trail zigzagging up the mountain. “It looks closer than it is,” Lebron said, reading my facial cues. “This is the most difficult part … watch the trail, not the view. Loose rocks and tree roots make the trail dangerous, and we have no shade.” Finally, we reached the summit. My legs aching, I dropped my pack and groaned. “No time to rest,” Lebron said, looking up at the sky. The weather had been warm all day, and it felt good to relax in the cool breeze. “The weather up here changes quickly, and that cool air means a storm is brewing. We need to set up camp.” I thought he was kidding, but Lebron was quite serious. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just as quickly as the storm came rushing in, it stopped, allowing us to exit the tent. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 03 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Zaki was small for his twelve years, and he hated being treated as a child. Farid, his older brother, had been looked upon as a man long before he was Zaki’s age. Now, every day as the sun warmed the gulf, Farid and the other young men went out in their wooden boats, to dive for oysters. With luck, there would be pearls in many of them. Each pearl earned a bonus for the man who found it. Many times Zaki begged to go along, but Farid always refused. “You?” Farid would laugh. “First, small one, you have to become larger than the oyster!” Still laughing, Farid would go his manly way, leaving Zaki bitter and angry. So every day Zaki would go to the shallow water to practice. His grandfather, a former diver, would watch him and advise him. All morning, Zaki would practice diving beneath the waves. Every afternoon, he would again go underwater and hold his breath. With daily practice, his diving improved gradually. Soon Zaki felt as much at home in the water as he did out of it. Zaki decided to challenge Farid the next day. He rose early the next morning. Even so, he had to hurry to catch up with Farid, who was already on the beach. “Farid, wait!” called Zaki. “I must speak to you.” In the stillness of the morning his voice carried clearly. The group of men around Farid grew quiet as Zaki spoke. “Farid, I say that I can hold my breath under the water as long as you can. If I win, I ask only that you treat me as a man and let me dive by your side.” The men of the village burst out laughing. Farid looked amused. “And what happens, young brother, when you lose?” Looked down upon, Zaki shouted, “I will not lose! Let us go into the gulf to compete. The men of the village are here to judge.” Farid looked surprised, but with all of his friends looking on, he had little choice but to agree. Zaki and Farid went out into the sea until it was deep enough for them to dive. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Looking into Farid’s eyes, Zaki suddenly understood what losing might mean to his brother. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 04 阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Cheemi was a poor orphan living in Pune. Nobody knew where she had come from. Yet everyone accepted the frail little girl and named her Cheemi — the little sparrow. She helped people by doing odd jobs for them, such as fetching vegetables from the corner shop or looking after babies when their mothers went shopping. Everybody in the neighbourhood liked Cheemi, except Kaki. Kaki was the richest woman there. Cheemi, in her eyes, was dirty and inferior to her. Therefore, she would not allow Cheemi into her big house. The house was almost like a mansion with big wooden carved doors and huge halls. Surprisingly, the windows of the rooms decorated with beads and curtains, were very small. Kaki lived with her son, her daughter-in-law Gauri and her little grandson, Chotu. Chotu was a great favourite with the girls. Gauri was a very nice, educated lady and didn’t mind Chotu being carried by others. Kaki, however, never allowed Cheemi to touch Chotu. How Cheemi wished she could play with him! That year, Panshet Dam collapsed and the waters of the Mutha river, near Pune, had entered the city. The water rose fast. There was confusion everywhere. Police vans were trying to help. When water entered their house, Kaki and Gauri were on the ground floor. Within seconds the water rose. The police persuaded Kaki and Gauri to climb to the top floor. In the hurry and confusion, they forgot that Chotu was sleeping on the first floor! The staircases were flooded. It was impossible to get to the bedroom on the first floor. The door to the room was closed but not bolted. Any moment the water could rush in. The women panicked. “Chotu!” they cried. “What’ll happen to our Chotu?” Suddenly the police discovered that one of the bedroom windows was open, but it was too small for an adult to crawl (爬) in. Only a child could. But no one was willing to let their children take the risk. Out of nowhere, Cheemi appeared. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Loud cheers greeted Cheemi. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 05 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Once upon a time, in a village, a little boy named Bob lived with his mother in their attractive little cottage. They didn’t have much but were content with the little they had. Every day after he came home from school, Bob would accompany his mother to the forest to collect firewood. One day, when Bob was in the forest collecting wood, he came across a puppy which seemed to be all alone. Bob looked here and there for its owner but in vain. So he picked it up, put it under his shirt and carried it home. Reaching home, he said to her mother, “Mom, I found a little puppy alone in the forest! Can we keep him, please?“ Feeling Bob’s happiness, his mother was in two minds about whether to keep the puppy or not. She told him, ”Oh Bob, that’s the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen! But we don’t have much. What will we do about his food and sleeping arrangement?“ Bob replied, “It’s OK. I’ll give him half of my meals and let him sleep with me in my bed.” Hearing this, Bob’s mother just nodded. Bob’s happiness knew no bounds, and he named the puppy Milo. From that day onwards, Bob and Milo became the best friends. Milo followed Bob wherever he went. When Bob went to school, Milo would diligently wait outside the classroom till the classes ended. At night, Milo slept next to Bob on his tiny bed and dreamed sweet dreams. On one particular day, Milo was sick, unable to follow Bob, so he stayed at home. That day it rained heavily, and the roads everywhere turned slippery. On his way home, Bob was trying to reach home as soon as possible as he dreamed of Milo waiting for him and keeping him warm. Unfortunately, Bob missed seeing a hole at the side of the road and fell down the hole! 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150词左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 He cried for help, hoping to be heard by passers-by. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Milo’s behavior drew the search party’s attention, and they ran towards the hole. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 06 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 When I was a child, my mother told my sister, who had a 10-inch very obvious scar (伤疤) on her arm, “Nancy, if you ignore the scar, other people will ignore it. It does not mean they will not notice it, but it means it will not matter to them if it doesn’t matter to you.” It never occurred to me that something like this would happen to my son years later. Sending a child off to college can certainly be stressful for concerned parents. It was 2018 that my son went off to college. He rarely contacted us. I couldn’t help asking about other aspects, which sometimes made him complain that I didn’t treat him as an adult. To be honest, my son is excellent. Some of my friends always tell me that they admire my son’s characters and they hope their sons could have some of them. Unexpectedly, it was 4 o’clock in the morning in 2020, when I received the phone call. “This is the emergency room calling and your son was just brought in with severe burns on his face, neck and arms. We have called for an aircraft and are going to fly him to the burn unit in Seattle.” Seattle was 350 miles from his college, so we knew immediately this was serious. The doctor described the reason, which caused the burns. At 6 am, my son and his friends decided to barbecue hamburgers in the courtyard of their apartment. When they lit the charcoal, it burst into flames because they had sprayed too much gasoline. The flames caught my son’s shirt tail and shot from his waist to well over his head. Fortunately, one of the boys who was quick-minded grasped my son and rolled him on the grass. While it saved his life, it was not in shape to save him from severe burns and the terrible scars. After he recovered from the treatments, the doctors told him they would not do plastic surgery for 6 months because it takes that long for the skin to stop shrinking and wrinkling. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The doctors suggested he return to college with scars of severe burns temporarily. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So I told him about Nancy’s childhood. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 07 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 “What will we be singing for the contest this year?” a student from my high school choir asked eagerly. I worried about this moment. “I was thinking,” I said, “maybe we would skip the contest and just work hard on the concerts this year.” “NO!” the kids protested. “We’ve got to go to the contest!” “It’s a tradition!” Indeed, award plaques (牌匾) lined the front wall of the music room from the past successes of large, talented classes. But a change in educational policies, with an emphasis on academics had reduced my choir to a mere thirty-two young, inexperienced kids who could sing only a simple melody. “I’ll have to think about it,” I said, hoping their enthusiasm would die off in a couple of weeks. Quite on the contrary, more determined, they begged and insisted every day. To protect their pride, I couldn’t tell them they weren’t good enough. But I wasn’t a miracle worker. And so I hesitated about this dilemma. Finally one morning I stepped into class. “Look at the clock!” I demanded. “We’ve wasted two full minutes because some of you don’t have your music ready. If we are entering the contest” The rest of my sentence was lost in cheers of delight and applause. “From now on,” I continued when the noise weakened, “you will find the day’s lesson plan on the board. Make full preparations for each class and follow my instructions absolutely. You will work much harder than you’ve ever worked in any class before. And if one of these rules is broken, we will not go to the contest.” I was certain they would fail to keep this contract, and no one would be embarrassed. But the kids remained focused, following the rules strictly. Each morning witnessed their diligence: working on sight-reading, learning musical terms, rehearsing, etc. Their progress was so remarkable that even I began believing in their dream. When the contest day finally arrived, the kids felt ready and confident to take on the world! Their eyes, however, opened wide when the Madison choir marched in seventy-five members strong. My kids’ jaws dropped when 125 students from King School arrived. Two private schools came with fifty members each, and finally forty-five members from Milwaukee School of Art. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式作答。 Paragraph 1: Then came the turn for my choir. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: After all the choirs had performed, we waited in our assigned room for the results. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 08 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Mr. Birkway was my English teacher, and when I met him on that first day in my new school, I didn’t know what to make of him. He was one of those energetic teachers who loved his subject half to death and walked about the room dramatically, waving his arms and patting (轻拍) people on the back. He said, “Brilliant!” and “Wonderful!”and “Terrific!” He was quite tall and slim, and his bushy black hair made him look like a wild native at times. He had deep brown cow eyes that sparkled (闪耀) all over the place, and when he turned these eyes on you, you felt as if his whole purpose in life was to stand there and listen to you, and you alone. Midway through the first class, Mr. Birkway asked if we had our summer journals. I hadn’t a clue as to what he was talking about. Some of the other students started nodding like crazy, and Mr. Birkway spread out his arms and said, “Wonderful!” He received the journals excitedly. “Thank you,” he said to each journal-giver. I was extremely worried. I had no journal. When he got to Beth Ann’s desk, Mr. Birkway lifted up her journal and looked inside. “I didn’t write much,” Ann said. “In fact, I can hardly remember what I wrote about at all.” “Don’t worry about it too much,” Mr. Birkway said with a smile. “Next time, try writing about something you like-a place, a room, a person. Just write whatever comes to mind.” Then he moved on. On top of Mary Lou’s desk were six journals. Mr. Birkway stood open-mouthed and said, “Is it — can it be — Shakespeare?” He counted the journals. “Six! Brilliant!” Christy and Megan, two girls who had their own club called the GGP (whatever that meant), were whispering over on the other side of the room and casting disapproving looks in Mary Lou’s direction. Mary Lou kept her hand on top of the journals as Mr. Birkway reached for them. In a low voice she said, “I don’t want you to read them.” 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 ”What?” Mr. Birkway said. “Not read them?” ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ By the time Mr. Birkway got to my desk, my heart was beating so hard that I thought it might jump straight out of my chest. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 10 如何拓展续写情节 一、句子翻译练习 翻译训练01: 1.The Clear Sky 晴空 在晴朗的日子,你看到天空就像一个蓝色的大圆盘. When you look at the sky on a clear day, it seems as if the earth is covered by a blue dome. If you stand at a place where the surface of the earth is flat; the sky seems to meet the earth in any direction you look. Sometimes I will see falling stars draw bright lines in the sky. There is harmony between the moon and stars in the quiet sky and the slow pace of the village. I really enjoy the peaceful summer evenings in the village. The next day, the sunlight woke him very early, hiding the stars under a pink blue and blue sky. But the stars kept watching him from above. It was the perfect morning for our daily walk: A brisk wind sweeping ocean air across our faces, fresh mounds of kelp laughing in clumps along the beach, and the sun coming up from its flat bed of fog, red and new and full of promises. It is a beautiful and quiet night. The moon is like a disc hanging on the dark sky , which casts its light on everything. The first drops of rain are huge; they split into the dust on the ground, and plunk on the roof. The rain now becomes a torrent, flung by a rising wind. Together they batter the trees and level the grasses. Water streams off roofs. There is only water. I am drawn outside while the rain still falls. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: One day my teacher had me stay after school to have a talk with her. As I stepped up to her huge wooden desk, I could feel myself getting more and more nervous, surely knowing that she would have a talk with me about getting my grades up. Looking up, smiling, Ms. Zazoski started speaking empathetically. “This isn’t the end of the world. I know what you are going through at home, and if you need any support, I am here for you, always.” she said, in the most kind tone. “Thank you so much.” I said as she hugged me, warmth and love like my mother melting in my whole body. That was the motivation that I needed to improve my grades. Walking out of her office, I was extremely relieved, as though a 1000 pound weight was lifted off my shoulders. It warmed my heart to know that even with obstacles in my way, there is always support nearby to help you through. I talked to all of my teachers and got all the missing work. By far, my 7th grade English teacher was the sweetest and most understanding woman that I had ever met; and now I am no longer afraid to ask for help or support. 走近:step up to/walk up to ②.谈话:have a talk with / have a conversation with ③. 感谢:thank sb/show one’s gratitude to sb./be grateful to sb. ②. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I thought he was kidding, but Lebron was quite serious. He and Aiden worked expertly, while I stood around and pretended to help, thunder rumbling in the distance. We set up near a boulder outcropping, but the wind, thunder, and lightning were relentless. As the storm rolled in with a vengeance, we took cover inside. Lebron, sensing that I was scared, reached in his backpack for some crackers and peanut butter. Slowly, but methodically, he spread the peanut butter and told stories about his camping adventures. Each time lightning lit up the tent and the thunder echoed, I cringed. “This is just a typical summer storm — they’re short lived, but intense,” Lebron stated. “The campsite might get a bit muddy, but what’s the fun in camping if you can’t get dirty! At least the rain will keep the bears away,” he said with a smile. Just as quickly as the storm came rushing in, it stopped, allowing us to exit the tent. The view was stunning — I could see for miles, and the rain left a fresh scent of pine and an earthy smell of soil. As darkness set in, l marveled at the multitude of stars in the night sky. I won’t lie — I was yearning for a hot shower and a soft bed, but as I gazed upward at the Milky Way, I knew this was an adventure I would never forget. 词汇激活 行为类 ①认为,觉得:think/guess ②帮助:help/aid/give a hand ③躲藏,隐蔽:take cover/find shelter ④停止,结束:stop/cease 情绪类 ①认真的,严肃的:serious/solemn ②极有魅力的,绝妙的:stunning/wonderful/beautiful 【点睛】[高分句型1]I thought he was kidding, but Lebron was quite serious.(运用了省略连词that的宾语从句) [高分句型2] He and Aiden worked expertly, while I stood around and pretended to help, thunder rumbling in the distance.(运用了while引导时间状语从句和独立主格结构作伴随状语) [高分句型3] As darkness set in, l marveled at the multitude of stars in the night sky.(运用了as引导时间状语从句) Writing 03 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Zaki was small for his twelve years, and he hated being treated as a child. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Zaki and Farid went out into the sea until it was deep enough for them to dive. Then, at a signal, both dived beneath the waves. Zaki opened his eyes and found himself looking at Farid, who was smiling with confidence. That smile made Zaki even more determined to win. Seconds ticked by with neither brother moving toward the surface. Slowly, the smile was fading from Farid’s face, for he hadn’t been expecting such serious competition. Time passing, on Farid’s face appeared a frown, which soon turned into a worried look. Farid was realizing that Zaki could possibly beat him. Looking into Farid’s eyes, Zaki suddenly understood what losing might mean to his brother. He would be teased about losing to a mere child. Looking at the Farid’s suffering face, Zaki smiled. Thinking for a while, Zaki kicked his feet, rising to the surface of the water a second before Farid’s head appeared beside him. The watchers cheered, patting Farid on the back. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Out of nowhere, Cheemi appeared. “Let me help. I can easily crawl in and get Chotu out,” she offered without a second thought. There was no time to waste. The policemen assisted Cheemi to the window: “Jump!” they told her in a determined tone. “We will drop you a rope ladder through the window.” Without a moment’s hesitation, Cheemi jumped through the window. Chotu was sleeping soundly. Picking him up, Cheemi put him on her back and tied him lightly to herself with a bed sheet. Slowly she scaled the ladder and peeped through the window. Carefully she undid the bed sheet and handed it, with the child, to a policeman. Then she exerted the last ounce of strength to crawl out of the window. Loud cheers greeted Cheemi. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: He cried for help, hoping to be heard by passers-by. But due to the loud thundering and noise of the heavy rains, no one heard him. It had become very late, and Bob’s mother was worried at home. She called the neighbors, and they formed a search party to find Bob. Milo, too, was worried, and so he joined them all. They searched high and low but still couldn’t find Bob. Milo used his keen sense of smell and went sniffing everywhere. When he came closer to the hole, he picked up Bob’s scents and started barking loudly. Milo’s behavior drew the search party’s attention, and they ran towards the hole. When they looked into it, they found Bob sitting and shivering in the darkness, wet and cold. Some people comforted Bob gently while others fetched a rope quickly and dropped it down to Bob. He held onto one end and then they pulled him up. Everyone cheered, Milo jumping around happily. Bob’s mother hugged him tightly. Bob thanked everyone for helping him and hugged Milo lovingly for being his best friend and hero. 词汇激活 行为类 ①四处搜寻: searched high and low/look for around ②仅仅拥抱:hug sb. tightly/throw one’s arms around sb. ③帮助某人:help sb./give sb. a hand 情绪类 担心:be worried/be concerned 感谢每个人:thank everyone/be grateful to everyone 【点睛】【高分句型1】When he came closer to the hole, he picked up Bob’s scents and started barking loudly.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】When they looked into it, they found Bob sitting and shivering in the darkness, wet and cold. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: The doctors suggested he return to college with scars of severe burns temporarily. Although I knew that there were going to be storms in life, it was hard for me to imagine that a handsome and sunny boy would return to his classmates with scars. I really didn’t know how to comfort him. After all, the scars were on him. Not all of us could be able to turn that particular page successfully. It was at this time that I remembered what my mother said to my sister. It was those words that enabled her to overcome her psychological barriers and lead a smooth life. So I told him about Nancy’s childhood. I passed the wisdom on to my son. Realizing my complex feelings, he smiled and comforted me instead. He took my advice to heart and returned to school with his head held high. By the end of the six-month waiting period, he decided that the scars did not matter. So he made the decision to give up any plastic surgery. We all have “scars” that we believe will keep people away from us. Put your imperfections out of your mind and concentrate on what you value within yourself, and your beauty will shine through. 想象:imagine/picture/think of ②.安慰:comfort/quiet/soothe ③.克服:overcome/rise above/get over sth 情绪类 ①.微笑:smile/beam on ②.珍惜:value/cherish 【点睛】[高分句型1].Although I knew that there were going to be storms in life, it was hard for me to imagine that a handsome and sunny boy would return to his classmates with scars.(由连接词although引导让步状语从句) [高分句型2].Put your imperfections out of your mind and concentrate on what you value within yourself, and your beauty will shine through.(由祈使句以及what引导的宾语从句) Writing 07 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 “What will we be singing for the contest this year?” a student from my high school choir asked eagerly. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One sample writing: Then came the turn for my choir. Extremely confident, they mounted on the stage as we rehearsed. “Smile!” I mouthed. I took a deep breath and we began. Having performed masterfully, we finished our three songs, and I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, “YOU DID IT!” What delighted me more was that they fully enjoyed their performance without getting panicked, winning storms of cheers and applause. My heart swelled with pride for this little group as they realized their dream with the same bravery they had shown from day one. After all the choirs had performed, we waited in our assigned room for the results. Sensing their worries about the group size, I reassured them: it was the performance rather than the size that mattered and most importantly, we enjoyed it. Time ticking, kids waited anxiously. Eventually, there came the news that we got the highest marks of all. All kids were screaming and embracing. Warm tears wetting my cheeks, I stood frozen, staring at the list in disbelief. It was a blessing that I was surrounded by kids who had a dream, who refused to give up, who taught me never to doubt the possibility of success for any student ever again. 词汇激活 行为类 ①开始:began/start ②保证:reassure/guarantee/ensure ③拒绝:refuse/reject 情绪类 ①感到恐慌:get panicked/feel scared ②焦急地:anxiously/worriedly 【点睛】【高分句型1】What delighted me more was that they fully enjoyed their performance without getting panicked, winning storms of cheers and applause.(由连接词what引导主语从句,由连接词that引导表语从句) 【高分句型2】It was a blessing that I was surrounded by kids who had a dream, who refused to give up, who taught me never to doubt the possibility of success for any student ever again.(运用了it作形式主语,that引导从句作真正的主语;由关系代词who引导定语从句) Writing 08 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Mr. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “What?” Mr Birkway said. “Not read them?” The whole room was silent. Mr. Birkway picked up Mary Lou’s journals before she could even blink. He said, “Don’t worry, your thoughts are safe with me. Brilliant! Thank you!” Mary Lou sat down in her chair. Mr. Birkway went around the whole room getting people’s journals. Phoebe was sending me little messages with her eyebrows that indicated that she was not too pleased either. I think they were all hoping that Mr. Birkway was not actually going to read these journals. By the time Mr. Birkway got to my desk, my heart was beating so hard that thought it might jump straight out of my chest. Looking sad and nervous, I explained to him I was new and that I didn’t know about the journals. “Not to worry!” Mr. Birkway said. “I know you didn’t have a chance to write a journal.” Despite this, I tried to write one that night. I had a terrible time coming up with something to write about. I made a list of all the things I liked, but I ended up writing about my beloved mother. The next day, I handed in my story to Mr. Birkway, who said, “Brilliant!” as he put it with the other journals. 暗示:indicated/suggested ②.想出:coming up with/figuring out 情绪类 ①.开心的:pleased/delighted ②.紧张的:nervous/on edge 【点睛】[高分句型1] Looking sad and nervous, I explained to him I was new and that I didn’t know about the journals.(运用了现在分词作状语及that引导的宾语从句) [高分句型2] The next day, I handed in my story to Mr. Birkway, who said, “Brilliant!” as he put it with the other journals.(运用了who引导的定语从句和as引导的时间状语从句) / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
