常用副词有 immediately(立刻)、suddenly(突然)、finally(终于)、quietly(安静地)、slowly(慢慢地)等。 But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Immediately, an absolute darkness ruled the forest. Carefully, he stepped over all the broken glass. Joyfully ,he skipped up the street. 可以用并列形容词(如 tired and hungry)、倒装结构(如 Weak as she was 她虽然虚弱)来增强表现力。 Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. Afraid that I might hurt the lovely small creature, I automatically let out a cry to stop my horse. We had no idea where we were and it got dark. Exhausted and hungry, I wondered if we could find our way back. 【拓展例句】 (1)(高考真题)Para 1: But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Desperate and hopeless, Jane knelt down, tears streaming down her face. (2)(高考真题)Para 2: It was daybreak when Jane woke up. Weak as she was, she struggled to her feet, continuing searching for assistance. But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Feeling disappointed, Jane had to stay alone for another night. It was daybreak when Jane woke up. Feeling refreshed, she continued to walk along the stream to find the way out. Looking around him cautiously, he slipped into the room and softly closed the door. The car abruptly stopped in front of him. Get into the car." Paul shouted at Mac. 【拓展例句】 “Let’s see who gets there first!” Rachel shouted, as she pedaled fast and zoomed past Jenny.“让我们看看谁先到那里去!” We drove through several states and saw lots of great sights along the way(我们开车穿过了几个州,沿途看到了很多好风景。) I looked out of the car window, winding rivers, lofty mountains, sunny beaches and deep valleys, holding me entirely in their fascination. The world was loaded with a sea of darkness.I was seized with the roaring power of nature. A sense of horror creeping up on me. The next day we remembered the brand-new tent we had brought with us.(第二天,我们想起了我们带来的那个全新的帐篷。) Dad exchanged a glance with me. Why not camp to satisfy Mom? Furry started wagging his tail and running around in circles when he saw his master taking a leash out from the drawer. Furry was all ready for his evening walk. BOOM, CRASH! The wind was howling outside of my house. We were having a terrible thunder storm. I was very scared.(砰,轰! 常见声音词:bang(砰)、crash(哗啦)、whisper(低语)、roar(咆哮)、howl(嚎叫)、rustle(沙沙声)等。 8. Why does trouble always follow me around? Do I have a "kick me" sign on my back or something? ____________________________________________________________________________ such great interest in sea shells that he would rush to pick them up with his 3-year-old sister, Shirley. They screamed out their joy as Peter collected his treasure into his pockets. For Peter, sea shells lay shinning on the peaceful beach, waiting for him, just like stars twinkling (闪烁) in the sky. As waves touched them, they seemed to be flowers blooming (绽放)in gentle wind. One day, Peter was wandering through market with Shirley, with some shells in his pocket. Suddenly Peter found his younger sister was lagging (落后) behind. He stopped and looked back, finding Shirley was standing in front of a toy shop and was staring at something with great interest. The boy went back to her and asked, “What do you want?” Shirley pointed at the doll, wearing a smile on her innocent face. Peter held his younger sister’s tiny hand, walking into the shop. He tiptoed (踮起脚尖) to reach for the doll, and like a responsible elder brother, gave the precious doll to Shirley. Holding tightly the doll, the sister was very very happy. The shopkeeper was watching everything and getting amused to see the matured (成熟的) behavior of the boy. Now the boy came to the counter and asked the shopkeeper, “How much does this doll cost, Sir?” The shopkeeper was a cool man, who had suffered from something in his life. So he asked the boy with love and affection, “Well, what can you pay?” Peter reached into his clothes for money that was intended for these two little guys’ breakfast. Having counted the money, Peter put it carefully on the counter, asking again, “Sir, is it enough for my little sister’s doll?” The amusing scene just in front of the shopkeeper eventually brought a smile on his face. Shaking his head slightly, he replied, “My boy, I am afraid it seems not to be enough.” Paragraph 1: With his eyes fixed on Peter’s pocket, he wondered what Peter would do. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Seeing Peter leaving happily with his sister holding the doll tightly, an assistant in that shop got surprised. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 单句训练 1. I was a volunteer for an organization at the beginning of this year. The organization is aimed at helping children who suffer from cancer. One day, we were asked to raise money for cancer research and program funding at an event. Since my friend Lisa was also a volunteer for the organization, I went to the event with her. There were many people at the event. After seeing our poster, some people came to us and talked with us. But few people donated money. It was a bit hot that day. Both Lisa and I got really upset. Half an hour later, Lisa started complaining, “I don’t think we can raise much money today.” “Don’t worry. The event lasts for three hours. There is still a lot of time left,” I said, though I also thought poorly of our plan to raise much money that day. While Lisa and I were talking, a little boy of about seven years old came to us. He stood in front of our poster and started reading. After a while, he asked, “What is cancer?” I explained what cancer is. Then I said, “Many people around the world are suffering from cancer. It can be really dangerous. More research is needed to learn about it so that people with it can suffer less. That’s why we’re collecting money for it.” “Do children suffer from cancer, too?” asked the boy. “Yes. Many children suffer from cancer. Some of them may die. They need help,” Lisa said, and I nodded. Hearing that, the boy became sad. Then the boy asked, “How much money have you collected?” Both Lisa and I were embarrassed to tell him that we didn’t raise much money. At last, we said, “Not much.” The boy looked into our donation container and only saw a few one-dollar and five-dollar bills. The boy said nothing after seeing that and left. Then some girls came to us and we started talking with them. Neither Lisa nor I thought the boy would return. However, about twenty minutes later, the boy did return. The boy happily ran to us, holding something tightly in his hand. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Both Lisa and I were deeply touched. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing2 2. It was June, the last day of school. My class of first-graders was feverishly anticipating their summer vacation. To add a joyful flavor, I had some balloons brought in, but for me, this holiday was bittersweet. I’d just moved to this city and couldn’t afford to fly back to accompany Dad. He was desperately missing me, for it was his first summer without me. When switching off the light on my way out, I noticed the balloons near the window. Unsure what to do with them, I grabbed the thirteen strings and stuffed them into the backseat of my car. Their rainbow of colors lifted my spirits and gratefully, I didn’t feel so alone. As the city was still foreign to me, I decided to go for a drive and soon found myself winding down a stretch of road where the trees overhead covered each other. The branches reminded me of two friends stretching out to greet each other. Before long, a retirement home appeared. It was a place with a feeling of forgottenness and I spotted a man sitting alone in the shade outside. I felt a sudden urge to pull in. But the balloons in my backseat blocked my view-then I knew what to do with them. Opening the door and grabbing one of the strings, I waved to the man, and he smiled. His name was Daniel and he was about Dad’s age. When I handed him the balloon, he grinned (咧嘴笑),“Thanks. It gives a little color to my life.” While tying it to his chair, he looked happier than when I arrived. So I smiled, “You’re welcome, Daniel. Perhaps I’ll see you again sometime.” Unexpectedly, he replied, “Perhaps, but probably not. Visitors are always welcome, but rarely come.” His words forced me to slide over an old chair next to his. Then we began chatting about our lives and his voice always reminded me of Dad. I’d thought it would be boring talking with a stranger. But it wasn’t; it was enlightening — I had been feeling lonely, and so had Daniel, and so had the residents in the retirement home. Then I remembered the other twelve balloons in the backseat. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Over the next six months, I visited Daniel often. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing3 3. At night, I think about my mother and hope she’s asleep. She lives alone in the little town of Golden, Colorado, in a house high up on a hill. I’m out in L. A., so there’s not much I can do — except worry. She won’t move here, and I can’t visit her as often as I’d like. But I know she would turn to the police for help if necessary. I called a little while ago. She said it had been snowing all day, and her nose was running non-stop. I kept thinking of her, sick and alone in that empty house. I had this little fantasy about how, if I lived there, I’d run out to get her some chicken noodle soup. Then I came up with a great idea. I remember there was a little Chinese restaurant in the town. So I dialed Information and asked the operator to search the Golden listings for Chinese restaurants. But the operator told me he needed an actual name. I kept that operator on the line, inventing dozens of listings for him to check. It’s incredible that the operator didn’t disconnect me. I finally hit on the right name: Golden Peach. I went ahead and paid the extra charge for the operator to connect me, and I ordered the soup, plus egg rolls and stir-fried vegetables. It was an entire Chinese banquet (宴会) for one tiny lady. With the snow piling up, I figured she could use the leftovers, plus at that point I guess I was sort of hungry myself. I charged the whole order to my credit card, including a tip to the delivery guy. Then I just sat back, feeling pleased with myself, and waited for my phone to ring. I glanced at my watch. I worried Mom might have fallen asleep. But I didn’t think the delivery guy’s arrival would scare this little old lady. I only thought about how surprised my mom was going to be. I wished I could see the look on her face. Sure enough, about half an hour later, my phone rang but it was a strange number. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When I got through, my mother sounded frightened telling me someone was knocking at her door. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing4 4. In the crowded center of our school, where the chatter of students filled the air, one individual stood out—my deaf classmate, Alex. His world was a silent canvas, shaped by the gestures of sign language, a language he knew profoundly, and one that I was eager to explore. Despite the lively environment, Alex moved through his day with a quiet grace, his hands gesturing smoothly as he communicated with those who understood him. However, for many of us, his gestures were a mystery, creating an invisible barrier between him and the rest of the student body. This barrier became strikingly apparent when I noticed how effortlessly Alex interacted with the few students and teachers fluent in sign language. With them, he was a different person—confident, expressive, and fully engaged. The transformation was remarkable; the barrier that seemed so overwhelming with us was non-existent with them. He laughed more and participated more. It was clear that in those moments, Alex was not just surviving in a silent world but thriving in a language that allowed him to be his true self. I remember the first time I saw him struggle to communicate with us. We were in the cafeteria, and Alex was trying to explain something important. His eyes were searching for understanding, his hands tracing patterns in the air that were lost on us. The frustration on his face was evident, and the helplessness we all felt was equally disheartening. Simple tasks, like asking for directions or participating in group discussions, became significant challenges for Alex. He often had to rely on written notes or the limited knowledge of sign language that a few of our classmates possessed. These daily struggles were a constant reminder of the communication barrier that existed. It was during one particularly difficult group project that the reality hit me hard. Alex had brilliant ideas, but conveying them was a painstaking process. His eyes would light up with enthusiasm, only to fade with disappointment when we couldn’t understand his signs. At that moment, I realized that we should do something. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was time for another group project and we were ready. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing5 5. Jason held his script too tightly, making the pages wrinkle. His palms had left damp marks on his Of Mice and Men script. Across the rehearsal (排练) room, Liam was doing his usual annoying trick — balancing a pencil on his nose during rehearsals — for the third time this week. Last year, they were great partners when they acted in The Outsiders together. Their rooftop “Stay gold” scene even got featured in the school newsletter. But now, everything changed. The trouble started during rehearsals. Jason insisted on following the book’s exact gestures. But Liam kept adding new moves — hugging an invisible puppy during serious lines, pretending to trip over “rabbits”. “Lennie wouldn’t do that!” Jason whispered angrily after a rehearsal. “At least my Lennie wouldn’t sound like a human tape recorder,” Liam snapped back. Their fight grew bigger every day. Liam put vinegar in Jason’s water bottle. Jason “accidentally” locked Liam’s favorite script in the storage room. Their teacher even put up a sign saying “NO MOREFOOD FIGHTS” after they threw ketchup packets at each other. The exploding moment came during their final practice. During the barn scene, Liam suddenly howled like a wolf. The younger students laughed loudly. Jason was so mad that he ran off the stage — and crashed right into the wooden chairs, breaking three of them. That night, Jason couldn’t sleep. He kept thinking about how Liam used to gently push his shoulder before scary scenes to encourage him. At 1 AM, he got on his bike and rode back to school. The storage room light was on. Inside, Liam was sitting on the floor, trying to fix the broken chairs. Next to him was a chocolate bar — the kind Jason always ate. Jason froze, his eyes wide with a mix of astonishment and guilt when he realized it was the chairs he had kicked and broken. “Liam... I... I didn’t think I’d see you here fixing these,” Jason stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. Liam kept his head low, “Yeah, well, someone had to. The show is next week.” Jason, at a loss for words but eager to help, grabbed a hammer and nails. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On performance day, Jason and Liam stood side by side, ready to take the stage. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 四、综合模拟演练03 Writing01 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Sista raced ahead, the sea breeze streaming against her face. Rafi finally caught up and thenthey rested in the shade. I’m hungry. I know where there’s a great apple tree.” Sista said, “It belongs to an oldlady called Susan who lives in the little house by the hill. I heard she’s stubborn, but that sometimes she gives fruit in return for an errand(跑腿).” “Let’s go,” Rafi said. They crossed a stream by hopping from rock to rock. Finally, upon ahilltop, they saw a splendid apple tree with bright red fruits. A small farmhouse stood at the bottom of the hill. Rafi’s heart pounded as Sista knocked onthe door. An elderly woman answered. “Yes?” the lady asked, staring at the girls. “We heard ...“ said Sista, her voice shaky, “that we could run an errand for you in exchangefor apples.” Susan raised one eyebrow. “Ah, yes. ” She clicked her tongue. “Nothing is free, eh?” She led the girls into the kitchen. When passing the living room, Sista found that the wallwas decorated with colourful crayon drawings, which seem to be children’s. She wondered whodrew these since Susan was alone, with no grandchildren, even no families or relatives. The ladygrabbed two baskets, one large and one small, and pushed them into the girls hands. “Go fill these with apples. Come right back.” The girls raced up the hill to the tree, climbed the branches, and picked the ripest apples. After filling the baskets, they returned to the house. Susan filled a bag with rice and dried beans, and then she handed it to Sista.“Take this bagand the large basket of apples to the Gomez family. Do you know them?” The girls nodded. Sista had heard that Mr. Gomez has been sick in bed for a long time andMrs.Gomez has to raise three little kids. “Good. And ask them for the payment," Susan added with a tight smile. The girls hit the road. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Susan opened the envelope, the girls saw the payment! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing02 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 Tom and his friend were walking to work. I had woken early that morning, and had not been able to sleep on the long ride from Riverside High, thinking about that day’s race, the Eye Opener. I had never raced in a state-wide race before. Over thirty high school teams ran, along with quite a few colleges. The rest of my team and I unloaded the bus, and we relaxed and waited for our race patiently. “Start warming up,” our coach told us, roughly forty-five minutes after we arrived. After finishing our stretches, we headed over to the starting line, eager for the race to begin. The starter walked to the middle of the field. “There will be two commands,” his voice boomed, ‘‘Runners set, then the gun. If you hear another shot, return to the starting line to start again. ” My heart raced as I got my legs ready to race. “Runners set!” the starter shouted Bam! The gun fired, and he rushed out of our way. Adrenaline (肾上腺素)rushed through my body as I raced through the mass of runners. As I rounded the first turn, my schoolmates greeted me with heartening shouts. Then, in what felt like only one minute, I arrived at the one mile mark. “6’10”, a man declared as I ran by. I tried to ignore him, but my legs began to bum as I realized I had run a mile and still had two to go. I slowed down my pace, for I knew the second mile was the worst of all three. Minutes later, I felt horrible. My legs ached, feeling like lead blocks. My vision was clouded as sweat dropped down into my eyes, and my arms felt as if they would fall off if I swung them one more time. Just as I almost reached my limit, a boy passed me. He also seemed to have lost strength but soon he was a little ahead of me. I gathered up my strength to speed up but suddenly fell to the ground. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the last mile, seeing the athletes passing us one by one, I asked the boy to run without me. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing04 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 “Time to get up. It’s your birthday.” Alex opened his eyes and looked up. His parents were standing next to his bed holding a breakfast muffin. “We can do anything you want today,” said his mom. He jumped up to get dressed as quickly as he could, already imagining what kind of day he would have at the beach. He had always dreamed about playing in the sand and jumping in the waves. He nearly tripped (绊倒) as he ran down the stairs on his way to the kitchen. Alex’s dad asked him what he wanted to do today. “The beach,” he shouted with joy. The expression on his mom’s face changed from joy to sadness. She knew the one place that he would not go was the beach. When her husband had been a young boy of Alex’s age, he had a terrifying experience at the beach. Alex’s dad shook off his initial (最初的) shock of hearing his son’s plan. “How about we go to the zoo instead?” he suggested. “The beach is over two hours away.” “But dad, I’ve wanted to go to the beach my WHOLE life,” Alex pleaded. “Son, I’m sorry, but we are not going to the beach and that’s final.” They ended up driving to the zoo. It was an exciting day, but Alex could not get the beach out of his mind. He yearned to build a sandcastle, swim in the ocean and chase the incoming and outgoing waves. The beach seemed like the best place on earth. Over the next few weeks, he dreamed about it almost every night. Any free moment he had was spent filling his room with pictures and drawings of beaches. He repeatedly pleaded with his mom to help him convince his dad to take them to the beach. Each time she explained that they could do other things as a family, just not the beach. One night, Alex received what he thought was good news. His dad was going on a three-day business trip the next day. “This is an opportunity,” he thought to himself. 1. The next morning, seeing his dad get into the taxi, Alex ran to his mother. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hours later, as Alex looked out of the front window of the car, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 05 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 When my father doesn’t answer the phone, I don’t think anything of it. He’s 75 years old and doesn’t always want to talk. This was what I told myself when I called him and he didn’t answer one Wednesday afternoon in January earlier this year. I was in Thailand for a trip. It’s sunny there but in Ohio, where my dad lives, it’s cold and snowy. I tried calling my dad two days later. Again, no answer. I was starting to feel uneasy. Thankfully, I didn’t have enough time to worry because he immediately called back. But his voice was dry and weak. He said he had fallen down and had been on the floor for days. He was calling from the floor. I immediately used another phone to call my sister Kristel. When she’s already in the car, I hung up with her and continued talking with my dad. I didn’t want to hang up, because I didn’t know if he had a heart attack or a stroke. What I did know was that I wished I wasn’t so far away. My dad spent the next three days in the hospital. The doctors didn’t know what had happened. The tests they ran didn’t tell them anything because he was on the floor for too long. Besides her work time, my sister was the one sitting next to my dad for hours in the hospital taking care of him. She had always been the one on the front line of his care but it’s becoming apparent that she’s burning out. For most of my life, I’ve not taken on any kind of family responsibility. I’m the youngest. I studied abroad. I vacationed in faraway lands and I was always too busy to come home. But my sister Kristel, who is 10 years older than me, has always been responsible. As she grew up, she helped our parents on the farm. Ever since she was in high school, Kristel has always had multiple jobs. But when my dad fell and was rushed to the hospital, I decided to spend more time with him. When I eventually arrived at the hospital, my dad was still lying on bed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At the moment, I promised to myself that I wouldn’t leave him until he recovered. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing06 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Rick, a ten-year-old boy, was constantly angry at everything around him. He always fought in school with the other kids. Once he had an outburst in school. Upset by something a classmate said to him, he pushed the boy, and a fight happened. When the teacher stepped in to break it up, Rick went crazy, throwing papers and books around the classroom and rushing out. His teachers couldn’t say anything that would comfort the kid. And the parents of his schoolmates were getting concerned. Rick was earning quite the reputation. After talking with school officials, Rick’s mom tried everything she could to calm Rick down. She tried different methods until one day she came home with a canvas (画布) and paint. “What’s this?”, Rick asked. Rick’s mom handed over the painting equipment and said, “Whenever you feel angry, paint whatever you’re angry about instead of bursting out.” Rick wasn’t that happy about it but he gave it a try anyway. Over the next few weeks, the young boy created several artworks. They mostly showed disturbing images though. So his mom took all of the paintings and called Rick over so that they could talk about them. “Tell me, Rick. What are these paintings about?” “Well, the first painting is about how some of the kids show off their new clothes and pencil cases. The next painting is about my teacher who keeps telling me about how I’m doing things wrong. And the last painting is about how one of my schoolmate’s father suggested that I change my attitude. All of them make me so angry.” Rick’s mom, in a calm voice, took Rick by her side and told him: “Don’t you see it, Rick?” “See what?” Rick asked. “You’re so angry at all of these things but not once did you try to understand why you’re getting so angry. What have all these people done to you, really?” Rick was lost in thought. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Rick knew it was time to change. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 01 如何设置故事开端 1. I could hardly contain my joy and danced into the house. 重点词汇:contain(动词,“抑制、控制”,常搭配 “contain one's emotion/joy/fear”,如 “contain one's anger”(抑制愤怒);danced into(“跳着舞进入”,用动作体现喜悦,比 “walked into” 更具画面感)。 2. She felt on the top of the world, and every freckle on her cheeks was dancing with joy. She came up to him, with a smile shining like a diamond. 下决心:make up one’s mind/ make a decision ②. 1. Hesitantly taking out the treasured sea shells in his pockets, Peter asked in a low voice, “Sir, can these help cover the cost?” Watching the 5-year- old carefully lay down all his shining shells on the counter, the man was somewhat touched, but he just pretended to be counting the shells seriously, “Let me see, one, two…Ok. The shells are just enough. You can take the doll and save the money”. Hearing this, Peter felt truly amazed and thanked the shopkeeper, who actually wanted to thank the two little kids, especially when he saw a big smile quickly spread over the little girl’s innocent face. They said goodbye and left happily with the doll. Seeing Peter leaving happily with his sister holding the doll tightly, an assistant in that shop got surprised. Since his boss had been in such a low mood recently that he seldom wore any smile and talked much. When the shopkeeper turned around and noticed the assistant’s surprised look, he said smilingly, “lovely kids, aren’t they? When I see the little boy is willing to take all he has to buy a doll for his lovely sister, it really warms my heart.” The assistant replied thoughtfully, “When he grows up, he will remember he purchased a doll for his sister with the shells from a shopkeeper, which will surely warm his heart, too.” I was a volunteer for an organization at the beginning of this year. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: The boy happily ran to us, holding something tightly in his hand. Out of breath, he asked, “Would you take a donation from children?” In his hands, he clutched a few crumpled dollar bills. Lisa and I were greatly astonished that a little boy actually cared, so we asked why he wanted to donate the little money he had. The boy replied in an innocent tone, saying that he thought it was the right thing to do and that he wanted to give the money to those who needed it more. Since he couldn’t do this himself, he was grateful that we could reach out to people in need and deliver the money on his behalf. Both Lisa and I were deeply touched. Many people were so obsessed with themselves that they became insensitive to the suffering of others. However, the little boy, young as he was, acted out of a genuine instinct of goodwill and was able to reach out without hesitation. What the boy did again evoked in me a belief in the noble quality of human empathy. Thanks to him, I reaffirmed the value of the voluntary work I was doing — to serve as a bridge, through which goodwill would be communicated and good deeds be performed. 词汇激活 行为类 ①紧握:clutch/grasp/seize/grab ②拥有:have/possess ③回复:reply/respond/answer ④引起:evoke/arouse/awaken 情绪类 ①震惊的:astonished/amazed/surprised ②感激的:grateful/thankful ③漠不关心的:insensitive/indifferent 【点睛】[高分句型1] The boy replied in an innocent tone, saying that he thought it was the right thing to do and that he wanted to give the money to those who needed it more. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Then I remembered the other twelve balloons in the backseat. An idea sparked. I hurried to the car and returned with the vibrant bunch. Knocking on each resident’s door, I offered a balloon and a smile. Faces lit up like children receiving candies. An elderly lady tied hers to a walker, murmuring “Just like my granddaughter’s birthday.” Soon the courtyard bloomed with floating rainbows. Laughter echoed through the once-silent corridors. As twilight painted the sky, I sat surrounded by storytellers sipping lemonade. Their wrinkled hands patted mine gratefully. For the first time since moving here, loneliness dissolved like sugar in warm tea. Over the next six months, I visited Daniel often. We planted sunflowers by his window, their golden faces tracking the sun like old friends nodding hello. He taught me chess moves from his army days, and I read him newspaper crosswords. Gradually, my students joined our visits, crafting paper cranes with nimble fingers while veterans shared wartime stories. By Christmas, the home buzzed with cookie-baking aromas and carol singers. When Dad finally visited in December, he found me surrounded by silver-haired “adopted grandparents”. His eyes glistened as Daniel shook his hand, “Your daughter’s brought spring to our winter.” 词汇激活 行为类 ①匆忙去:hurry to/rush to/hasten to ②提供:offer/give/provide ③系上:tie/fasten/attach 情绪类 ①感激:gratefully/thankfully/appreciatively ②孤独:loneliness/solitude 【点睛】【高分句型1】As twilight painted the sky, I sat surrounded by storytellers sipping lemonade. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Sure enough, about half an hour later, my phone rang but it was a strange number. It turned out that it was the delivery man who was sending food to my mother. He said he was standing in front of my house but no one answered though he pounded on the door. So he had to call the number on the order. Hearing that, I got very worried. I told him it was my mother who lived in the house and that I would phone her to see what was the matter. When I got through, my mother sounded frightened telling me someone was knocking at her door. It was night, some man was pounding on her door, and she was afraid to open it. But the guy refused to go away. Hearing that, I couldn’t help laughing. So I told her my plan, saying it was the delivery man. She hurried to open the door and apologized to the delivery man. Mom was laughing and making kissing sounds into the phone, telling me I was the best daughter. That night, she really got a surprise. 词汇激活 行为类 ①敲门:pound on the door/knock heavily on the door ②给她打电话:phone her/make a phone call to her ③道歉:apologize/make an apology 情绪类 ①担忧的:worried/concerned ②害怕的:afraid/scared 【点睛】【高分句型1】It turned out that it was the delivery man who was sending food to my mother. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: At that moment, I realized that we should do something. I made a proposal that we learn sign language together. To my delight, many of them showed great enthusiasm, eager to bridge the gap and help Alex feel more included. We formed a small group and started meeting after school to practice. Together, we shared resources, supported each other and celebrated every bit of progress we made. With each passing day, our sense of achievement and pride as a team grew, and we couldn’t wait to use our new skills to make a difference. It was time for another group project and we were ready. As we gathered around the table, we greeted Alex with simple gestures we had just learned. At the sight of sign language, Alex’s face lit up with astonishment and joy. With our joined efforts, we could understand each other easily and we communicated smoothly in the whole process. The pride we felt in breaking down the invisible barrier was immeasurable, and the happiness in Alex’s eyes made every effort worthwhile. That day, we realized we not just understood a language, but also created a space where everyone felt valued and heard. 词汇激活 行为类 ①建议:make a proposal/make a suggestion ②聚集:gather around/get together ③理解:understand/comprehend 情绪类 ①高兴:delight/joy ②惊讶:astonishment/surprise 【点睛】[高分句型1] I made a proposal that we learn sign language together. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Jason, at a loss for words but eager to help, grabbed a hammer and nails. Clang! The first strike missed completely. “Let me,” Liam muttered, steadying Jason’s hand. With Liam guiding him, Jason lifted the hammer again. Bang! The nail sank deep into the chair leg. As they worked side by side, Liam nudged Jason, “Your book-accurate Lennie is solid. But my twists... they add spark.” Jason nodded, hammering a nail with more ease. “Why not mix them up? We’ll nail the show.” Their eyes met, and they shared a grin, the hammering growing faster and more in sync. When Liam pulled out a smashed chocolate bar, Jason took half without a word. “Still partners?” Liam asked, shaking crumbs from his hair. “Only if you stop eating my snacks,” Jason replied, flicking a chocolate chip at him. On performance day, Jason and Liam stood side by side, ready to take the stage. Jason delivered his lines with the precise gestures of a true book purist, while Liam added his signature quirks at just the right moments, making the audience burst into laughter. In the final scene, their emotional acting brought the characters vividly to life, leaving the audience wide-eyed. As the curtain fell, thunderous applause filled the hall. Their teacher rushed onto the stage, showering them with praise. Liam happily clipped the prop hammer to Jason’s tool belt. Jason nodded, his eyes shining with anticipation for future shows. Under the twinkling stars, they walked home together, the hammer a precious reminder of their accomplishment and friendship. 词汇激活 行为类 ①指导:guide/instruct ②落下:fall/drop down ③回答:reply/respond 情绪类 ①轻松地:with ease/easily ②期待:anticipation/expectation 【点睛】[高分句型1] When Liam pulled out a smashed chocolate bar, Jason took half without a word.(由when引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2] As the curtain fell, thunderous applause filled the hall.(由as引导时间状语从句) 四、综合模拟演练03 Writing01 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Sista raced ahead, the sea breeze streaming against her face. My world was clouded by total darkness. How I wish the ground to crack and swallow me! I could feel everybody was staring at me, widening their mouths and not being able to utter a word. The sudden silence brought sharp pain in my knees and “failure” was the only word flashing in my mind. Then the silence was broken by a deep voice, “You won’t give up so easily, will you? ” The boy ahead of me turned back and pulled me up. “Let’s run to the finishing line together!” The second mile saw its end while we ran shoulder to shoulder. In the last mile, seeing the athletes passing us one by one, I asked the boy to rum without me. “You can win a place if you go by yourself.” I looked at him in the eyes with sweat blurring my sight. The boy breathing heavily, drops of sweat rolled down his face. He shook his head saying,“Winning a place is not that important, isn’t it? ”. Then we smiled at each other as if we had been the only runners. The last mile seemed shorter and we were relieved when we passed the finishing line together with thunderous applause. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next morning, seeing his dad get into the taxi, Alex ran to his mother. He looked at his mother eagerly and pleaded: “Mom, I really want to go to the beach. Please, please, please!” After that, he looked at his mother with anxious and expectant eyes. Alex’s mother didn’t know what to do. She knew that going to the beach was her son’s dream, but she didn’t want to do it without telling her husband. Alex saw his mother’s hesitation and then said:“Mom, Dad is not at home, so he doesn’t have to worry about going to the beach with us. ” With Alex’s persuasion, his mother finally agreed to take him to the beach.      Hours later, as Alex looked out of the front window of the car, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. It was his father who was waiting them at the destination. When the taxi stopped, he quickly got out of the car and rushed to his father, asking anxiously, “Dad, why are you here? ” His father smiled and said, “Your mother called me and told me the news. I think this is not only a good opportunity for you to go to the beach, but also it’s time for me to overcome the fear, so I postponed my trip and came here directly”. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】When I eventually arrived at the hospital, my dad was still lying on bed. The ceiling was tall. Light was streaming in. It’s beautiful. But my dad was almost unrecognizable. He was thin and had really long beard. I didn’t let my concern show on my face. Instead, I gave him a kiss and immediately started to cut his beard. His face lit up and let me take care of him in a way I never had done before. At the moment, I promised to myself that I wouldn’t leave him until he recovered. For the next two weeks, I became his full-time caretaker. Every morning after we woke up, we had coffee together. I walked him up and down the hallway of his apartment, and accompanied him to see doctors. When he’s deeply unmotivated, I would try my best to cheer him up. Due to the wave of my energy and confidence, my father soon recovered. 到达:arrive at / reach ②.陪伴:accompany sb / keep sb company ③.照顾:take care of / attend to 情绪类 ①.没让我的关心表现在我的脸上:not let my concern show on my face / hide my concern ②.使……振作起来:cheer sb up / make sb more cheerful 【点睛】[高分句型1]. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version Rick was lost in thought. It slowly dawned on him that people he was angry at had done nothing wrong. His classmates who showed their new clothes and pencil cases to others might just want to share their happiness with friends. His teacher did blame him because he was being a problem. And his schoolmate’s father was just trying to help him correct his mistakes. They had no intention to hurt him but he just let his unreasonable anger consume him and hurt them. How ridiculous he had been! Rick knew it was time to change. From then on, Rick tried his best to control his temper. Every time he felt he was to explode, he would walk away and ask himself why he was angry and whether it was reasonable to be angry. Then he would find his peace and laughed his anger away. Gradually, everyone saw a different Rick. He no longer shouted at others or threw things away. He chatted with classmates after class and complimented their new clothes and pencil cases. He even helped teachers carry books before class sometimes. Rick’s change surprised everyone and they all felt happy for him. 词汇激活 行为类 ①伤害:hurt/harm ②让某人做某事:let sb do sth/make sb do sth ③尽最大努力做某事、不遗余力做某事:try one’s best to do sth/spare no effort to do sth ④爆发:explode/burst ⑤称赞:compliment/praise 情绪类 ①生气的:angry/annoyed ②高兴的:happy/joyful 【点睛】【高分句型1】It slowly dawned on him that people he was angry at had done nothing wrong.(运用了以it为形式主语,连词that引导的主语从句以及省略了关系代词who/whom/that的定语从句。) 2】Every time he felt he was to explode, he would walk away and ask himself why he was angry and whether it was reasonable to be angry.
