Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答问题)(12分)
Jim’s grandpa had a beautiful garden. He knew everything about gardening. Every weekend, Jim got his hands dirty in the soil with Grandpa. Best of all, he loved seeing the daffodils (水仙花) come out in spring.
One Saturday, Jim was helping Grandpa in the garden. “Will we plant daffodils this year?” asked Jim.
“Yes, but give it a few more days,” said Grandpa, handing Jim a gardening fork. “We need to get the weeds (杂草) out first.”
“Why do you like planting daffodils?” asked Jim.
“For Grandma,” said Grandpa. “On the day we first met, I gave her a bunch of daffodils. Seeing the sweet smile on her face, I knew she loved them. So when we got married, I promised her to plant daffodils every year.”
“Wow! I can’t wait to plant daffodils,” said Jim.
A few days later, Grandpa got a terrible headache and was sent to hospital. He needed to have an operation.
The following Sunday, Jim sat in the garden, worried and lonely. Grandma came to him. “Jim, you can do some gardening if you like,” she said.
“________,” said Jim.
“He isn’t here but he surely has taught you something, hasn’t he?” said Grandma.
“I guess he has really taught me a lot,” said Jim.
Jim thought about how happy Grandpa would be when he came back and saw the daffodils. He put on his rubber boots and spent the whole day tidying, digging, planting and watering.
When spring came, all the daffodils opened and Grandpa returned home.
“You wonderful boy,” said Grandpa. “Grandma and I are proud of you.”

Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答问题)(12分)
(Mike is telling a story. It happened when he was seven.)
It was New Year’s Eve. In the morning, I heard Grandma tell Mum she needed a football for the New Year’s Eve dinner.
“A football for the dinner? What’s it for?” I wondered. “Anyway, I will get one! I can do something nice for Grandma.”
I remembered my friend Joe had an old football. I went out quietly and found him. I gave him my favourite model car in exchange for his football.
I took the football home, shined it and put it on the living room table secretly. I waited in my room for Grandma to notice it.
“Mike!” Mum shouted. I ran to the living room. “Why can’t you put your things where they belong? Get the football out of here!”
“But it’s for Grandma! She said she needed a football for the New Year’s Eve dinner.” I said.
“A football for the dinner?” Mum laughed. “No, Grandma needs a fruit bowl, not a football.”
“Fruit bowl sounds like football! I have done a silly thing!” I went back to my room, embarrassed and disappointed.
Before dinner, Mum came in and asked me to meet my uncles and aunts. When I walked into the living room, Grandma was showing them a pretty fruit bowl with the old football in its centre, I was surprised.
“Look!” Grandma said. “Today Mike brought me a nice present, this football. Isn’t it beautiful?” She continued. “It’s beautiful, yes — because anything from a child is beautiful.”

"Just because you can't see something, that doesn't mean it's not there. "This old saying is quite meaningful for British sculptor(雕刻家) Willard. The items he creates are so small that most of them fit on the head of a pin. You can see them clearly only through a microscope(显微镜).
Many people want to own his art pieces. He's been honored by the Queen of England for his great art achievements. At every one of his exhibitions, the question is always the same. How does he do it?
The answer is very, very carefully. So carefully, in fact, that he actually slows his breathing down and works in between breaths. Willard usually works under a microscope using special tools that he creates. To paint his works, he uses the hair from a fly as a paintbrush.
Creating these detailed works is a very long and difficult process, and it isn't always enjoyable." It is a terrible dream when I start but a nice dream when I finish," he says. A single item can take at least several weeks to complete.
People have asked Willard why he chose to do something that needed effort and took time. His interest in creating small things began when he was five. He started creating houses and playgrounds for ants. Willard was not a strong student. He had difficulty in reading and spelling words. Some kids used to call him a loser. This made him feel small, so focusing on lite things helped him to feel big. The smaller his work got, the bigger he felt. A newspaper reporter said, "Willard has shown the world that he is special. Though_______ , he________."

It was Saturday again. Grace and Karen disliked Saturdays. That was another thing the twins had in common. They shared the same clothes and tied their hair in the same manner. In fact, it was hard for their classmates and teachers to tell them apart sometimes.
Unlike their classmates, they had to get up early at seven every Saturday to prepare for their lessons. Grace had to attend the art lesson and Karen had to attend her ballet lesson. “How I wish I could do something different today,” said the twins with one voice. All at once, an idea came to Grace and Karen at the same time. “How would you like to be me for a day?” they asked each other. It seemed like a wonderful plan to them. After giving each other a description of their own friends, Grace put on Karen’s ballet dress while Karen put Grace’s brushes and paints into her bag. Then they left for their classes.
When the art lesson started, Karen was lost. Unlike Grace, Karen was poor at drawing. When the art lesson finally ended, Karen didn’t dare to hand in her work.
Meanwhile, Grace was struggling in the ballet class as well. As she had no idea about the dance steps, she had to follow her classmates blindly. As a result, she kept knocking into them. Their ballet teacher became impatient with her, “Karen, you should remember the basic steps. You can’t rely on copying what others are doing.”
When Karen and Grace got home, they were tired out. They decided that they would never try to be someone else they were not. It seemed that the grass was not always greener on the other side.
88.Did Grace and Karen like Saturdays?
89.When did the twins get up on Saturdays?
90.What was the twins’ plan when they decided to do something different?

Lucy dreamed of hosting her own cooking show. Every day, she practiced making up recipes (食谱), hoping to make her brother Leo and mother smile with her dishes. Yet, she could never cook right one particular meal: Lasagna (千层面). Or should she say, Grandpa’s Famous loves-agna. Each time Lucy tried the dish, Leo would spit (吐) it out or her mother would push it around her plate.
People used to line up outside of Grandpa’s restaurant just to get a piece of it. Grandpa didn’t have a restaurant anymore, but he had given Lucy his recipe...without, however, telling her his secret ingredient (原料). He always said she had to figure it out by herself. What was the secret ingredient?
Grandpa always told Lucy the same story she had already heard hundreds of times, “When you were very little, you tried my Lasagna. I turned my back for one minute...and you were covered in sauce and cheese! You threw a handful at me and yelled, ‘loves-on-yah! loves-on-yah’ I liked your name for it so much that I’ve called the recipe loves-agna ever since.”
For Grandpa’s birthday, Lucy decided to give him a surprise by making a perfect loves-agna. She followed the recipe carefully, but she failed again and again—too salty, too sweet, or too spicy. Frustrated, Lucy threw her chef’s hat down and left the kitchen. Lying on her bed, she suddenly had an idea.
Back in the kitchen, Lucy tore up the old recipe and put away her measuring spoons. Then she listened to her heart when cooking. Soon, the kitchen smelled wonderful.
The doorbell rang. Lucy hung up her apron (围裙). Leo set the table. Mom answered the door. The family sat down to eat, but everyone hesitated.
“Come on, everyone, eat,” Lucy said. “Don’t worry, it’s a new recipe.”
Relieved, Mom, Leo and Grandpa slowly started eating their food.
“It was delicious,” Mom said.
“I loved it,” Leo yelled, reaching for a second piece
“You’ve found the secret ingredient, Lucy,” Grandpa said.
“But I didn’t even follow the recipe this time. I tore it up.”
“I never really followed the recipe either, Lucy,” Grandpa patted his chest and took another slice, “I always listen to my heart and cook with love, just like you did this time. When you use this special ingredient, loves-agna always turns out perfect.”
After hearing the words, Lucy felt ________ and learned that ________.
1.Lucy’s brother and mom didn’t love the Lasagna cooked by Lucy at first, did they?
2.Why didn’t Grandpa tell Lucy the secret ingredient of his lasagna?

Stand in front of a mirror and look at it. How much do you really know about the person in it?
It’s not an easy job to know ourselves. To help students do this important task, schools across China are providing more classes and activities on self-knowledge.
Liu Yue is a teacher from Chengdu Yucai Middle School. She has recently given her students a useful tool. “It’s called the Johari Window, developed by two U.S. psychologists (心理学家),” said Liu. “It has four areas about one’s self: An open area that everyone knows about, a hidden area that only you know, a blind spot that everyone knows except for you and an unknown area that nobody knows. Using this tool, students did a great job seeing themselves through a new lens.”
“I’m most curious about my blind spot,” said eighth-grader Yang Manfei. “So I did a survey with my friends.” The results showed that she easily gets anxious (焦虑紧张的) and impatient because of procrastination, the habit of delaying doing things until the last moment.” “It is a bad habit I’ve never realized,” Yang said.
“I find the unknown area most amazing,” said Sun Boyin, another student. “It means everyone has lots of potential(潜能).” When Sun entered middle school, he was not good at math. “But I set a goal and did lots of math exercises. Now I’m much better at the subject. The unknown part of my math ability is getting clearer,” he said.
When it came to the hidden area, most students kept silent. “I’m afraid to show my secrets deep down,” said Li Yixuan. “Then one classmate stood up and said his favourite cartoon is Tom and Jerry. Li thought to himself, “Am I brave enough to show my childish hobby? I want my classmates to see me as a grown person, not a silly child.” But then he realized that classmate wasn’t silly at all. Instead, he has the courage to be himself. “Show yourself and make yourself better. That’s the best lesson I’ve learned,” Li added.
Dear friends, do you want to learn more about yourself using the Johari Window? Which part would you like to find out most now and why? Please share your idea and a reason here: _________.
1.It’s not easy to know ourselves, is it?

One day, an ambitious young man traveled a long distance to visit the home of Socrates (苏格拉底). He approached him respectfully and said, “Sir, I have come to ask for your guidance. Will you teach me how to become truly successful?”
Socrates looked at him with a calm expression and replied, “I will help you. Follow me.” He led the young man towards the ocean without further explanation. When they reached the shore, Socrates continued walking straight into the water. The young man followed, confused but curious. Once they were both chest-deep (深及胸部的) in the sea, Socrates suddenly placed his hands on the young man’s head and pushed him underwater. The young man struggled (挣扎) and fought his way back to the surface after about ten seconds, gasping for air (大口喘气). Socrates simply turned and walked back to the shore without saying anything.
Feeling confused and disrespected, the young man left, telling himself he would never return. However, after a week, he began to reflect. Maybe there was a reason for Socrates’ strange action. He decided to give the wise man another chance.
He visited Socrates again and said, “I still wish to learn. Please teach me the secret of success.” Once again, Socrates led him into the ocean and pushed his head under the water. This time, the young man was more prepared. He took a deep breath before going under and tried to hold it for nearly thirty seconds. But when he surfaced, Socrates was already walking away. The young man felt angry and embarrassed.
Another month went by. The young man still deeply wanted to succeed. He decided to try one last time. He approached Socrates and said, “I am here again. Please teach me what I need to learn.”
Then they walked into the ocean. As soon as Socrates grabbed (抓住) his head, the young man took a deep breath and relaxed. This time, he held his breath for almost two minutes. When he finally came up, Socrates was already on the beach.
Extremely angry, the young man ran out of the water and shouted, “Why do you keep dunking my head instead of teaching me your wisdom?”
Socrates turned to him and said calmly, “Listen, my son. I have been teaching you all along. If you want to succeed as badly as you wanted to breathe when you were underwater, you will become successful. That is the only secret.”

Crazy for Crabs
In ancient China, when autumn arrived, people didn’t just enjoy the cool breeze and falling leaves. They got especially excited about one thing: eating crabs. For many ancient Chinese foodies, the perfect way to celebrate fall was with a plate of fresh crab and a cup of warm wine.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, crab is a “cold” food, which can upset the stomach if eaten alone. That’s why people paired it with warm wine. Together, they made a tasty and balanced combination. The feeling was so good that one poet wrote, “There’s no better joy in this world” than enjoying crabs and wine on a mountain top.
Many poets and scholars were huge crab lovers. The famous poet Su Dongpo once traded a poem to a friend in exchange for two crabs. Ouyang Xiu chose to retire near a lake simply because the crabs there were cheaper. The writer Li Yu was nicknamed the “Crab Fairy,” because he could eat up to 20 crabs a day and even had a servant dedicated to cooking crabs for him. But the funniest story is about Qian Kun, a government official. When the emperor asked where he wanted to work, he replied, “ anywhere with crabs.”
In autumn, crab-themed parties were also popular among the upper class. In the classic novel Dream of the Red Chamber (《红楼梦》), people hosted crab feasts in their gardens. They ate crabs with ginger and vinegar, drank hot wine and wrote poems.
During the Song dynasty, chefs invented new ways to prepare crabs. They made crab wontons, crab roe soup buns, and even a creative dish called “crab-stuffed orange.” Later, in the Ming dynasty, people designed a special tool set called the “Eight Crab Tools”. It included hooks (钩子), and even a small hammer, allowing diners to open crab shells neatly and easily.
To the ancient Chinese, crabs weren’t just a tasty seasonal delicacy (佳肴). They were a symbol of autumn joy. Even today, crabs still hold a special place on Chinese dinner tables, continuing to bring happiness to food lovers.
1.In ancient China, people got especially excited about eating crabs when summer arrived, didn’t they?

3.What did Su Dongpo trade to his friend in exchange for two crabs?
4.According to paragraph 4, if a person was a farmer, did he always go to the crab-themed parties?
5.What was the “Eight Crab Tools” used for?

Answer the questions (根据以下内容回答问题)
Taking Pictures or Taking Notes?
In a class last December, I wrote some directions on the blackboard for students about their final examination. One young girl quickly took a picture of the board using her smartphone. When I looked in her direction, she apologized, “Sorry. Was it wrong to take a picture?”
“I can’t read my own handwriting,” she explained. “It’s best if I take a picture of your writing so I can understand the notes.”
Those words started a heated discussion about taking a picture instead of taking notes. Some took pictures of notes because they knew their phones were a safe place to store material. They might lose paper, they thought, but they wouldn’t lose their phones. Some took photos because they wanted to record exactly what had been written on the blackboard. Others told me that during class, they would like to listen to the discussion attentively. Taking notes would distract them from important information.
It may be convenient to use cameras as note takers. Yet it does raise some questions about the classroom. Is a picture as effective a replacement for the process of note-taking?
Teachers encourage students to take notes because the act of doing so not only records necessary information but also helps prepare the way of understanding. Encouraging students to take notes seems to be an old-fashioned teaching method. But a method with a long history doesn’t mean it’s out of date. Writing things down makes a student’s brain take an active part in class, according to a study. The act of writing down information enables a person to begin keeping it in mind, and to process and combine it.
Taking a picture does record the information. However, it deletes some of the necessary mental involvement that note-taking is rich in. So can the two be equally effective?
1.How would the young girl mentioned at the beginning of the passage review the writer’s writing after class?
2.Some people thought that their phones were a dangerous place to store material, didn’t they?
3.Why do teachers encourage students to take notes?
4.According to the study, what are the benefits of writing information down?
5.What is the act of taking notes by hand rich in, according to Paragraph 6?
6.If you are allowed to use your mobile phone to take pictures of your teachers’ notes, will you take pictures of notes or will you still take notes by hand? Why? (Give at least two reasons)

Ink brushes, ink, paper and inkstones are the “Four Treasures of Study” (文房四宝) in China. They have been must-haves for fans of calligraphy and Chinese painting. Jiangzhou Chengni inkstone (绛州澄泥砚) in Shanxi province is one of China’s most famous inkstones. It is known for its fine texture (质地). It feels like “a baby’s skin” and can do less harm to the brush. Unlike other inkstones made from natural stone, it is made from mud from the Fenhe River.
The skill can be dated back to the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220). However, it was lost at the end of the Ming Dynasty (1368 — 1644). Although they learned the basic ways, bringing it back to life was no easy task. They walked over the Fenhe riverbed and collected mud of all kinds to find the best one. To know the best temperature of firing clay (黏土), they spent sleepless nights keeping a close watch on the kiln (窑) in smoke.
After many failures, they succeeded in making three Chengni inkstones in 1991. In 1994, their inkstones won a gold prize at the China Expo of Famous Inkstones.
It takes over a year and more than 10 steps to make a Chengni inkstone. One of the key steps is mud filtering (过滤). The mud needs to be filtered over and over again till it feels like flour. This is to make sure the texture of clay is right.
In 2019, Lin Xiaolin, Lin Tao’s son, returned from his studies abroad. He created new ways to make the Chengni inkstone. By controlling the temperature of the kiln, he increased the colors of the inkstone from three to eight. The young man has also stepped into the online market.
In 2013, Lin Tao built the China Jiangzhou Chengni Inkstone Cultural Park. More than 10,000 people have visited the park to learn the old skill. “Passing on the skill holds the key to keeping it alive,” he said.

Hope Beyond the River
For most people, graduation is an exciting day, but my graduation day was not.
I remember that weekend two years ago. Family and friends had flown in from across the country to watch the celebration. But just like everyone else in my class, I had watched the economy turn from bad to worse in my fourth year of university. Almost all of us graduates had degrees, but very uncertain future.
The weeks ahead weren’t easy. I knew my small university town couldn’t offer me any opportunities, so I packed up my things and drove to Southern California to find work. But what I thought would take a week lasted for two weeks, and then four, and 100 job applications later, I found myself in the exact same situation as I was in before.
You know that feeling when you wake up in fear? That feeling became constant (持续不断的) in my life. Days felt like weeks, weeks like months, and those many months felt like everlasting pain. And the most annoying part was no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t seem to make any progress. So what did I do to keep my good sense? I decided to write. Something about putting words on a page made everything seem a little clearer-a little brighter. Something about writing gave me hope. And if you want something badly enough, sometimes a little hope is all you need!
I put my dissatisfaction into a children’s book. Beyond the River is the story of an unlikely hero, a little fish, who refused to give up his dream.
And then one day, without any sort of writing degree or contacts in the writing world - just a lot of hard work and determination - I was offered a publishing contract for my first book! After that, things slowly began to fall into place. I was offered a second book deal. Then, a few months later, I got an interview with the Walt Disney Company and was hired shortly after.
Don’t give up. Even if things look tough now, don’t give up. If you work hard, things will always get better. Often times our dreams lie in wait just a little further upstream. All we need is the courage to push beyond the river.Q&A
1.Why was the author’s graduation day not exciting?
2.How did the author feel during the weeks and months after graduation?
3.What did the author do to keep his good sense?
4.What is the story Beyond the River about?
5.What does the underlined phrase “fall into place” in paragraph 6 most probably mean?

①In the United States, 16, 18, and 21 are important ages in a person’s life. A person can do new things at each age to show that he or she is no longer a child. These are all part of the transition to adulthood.
②After turning 16 in the United States, a person can be employed, get a driver’s license, and leave home. Many high school students learn to drive and get part-time jobs soon after celebrating their 16th birthday. At 18, people in the United States can vote in government elections and join the military, but they can’t go into nightclubs or buy alcohol like beer or wine until they are 21.

To mark this special day, families with 15-year-old daughters have a celebration called a quinceanera. The day begins with the young woman and her family going to church. Later, there is a party to which many guests are invited.
④In Japan, boys and girls are considered to be adults at the age of 20. At this age, they gain rights to vote and drink alcohol. The second Monday in January is a national holiday called Coming-of-Age Day. On this day, 20-year-olds celebrate by listening to speeches given by city and school leaders. After that, many celebrate with family and friends late into the night.

When my nephew was a kid, he was crazy about collecting and trading cards. Whether it was Pokémon or My Little Pony, he believed that each one would give him superpowers——or at least make him the coolest kid on the playground. And the money he spent? Let’s just say he could have bought himself a small island! But hey, who needs an island when you have a Charizard (a large dragon-like Pokémon)?
Now that he’s older (and maybe a little wiser), he can’t believe how much he once cared about those cards. But he wasn’t alone in his love for them. Kids have been collecting cards for generations. It’s all about fitting in and being part of the “club”. Nothing says “I belong” quite like pulling out a pack of these cards.
But there’s a dark side to all that shiny cardboard. Take the current card-collecting craze here in China. Schools are turning into trading floors faster than you can say “limited edition.” Parents and teachers are left scratching (挠) their heads while kids fill their pockets with newly found “treasures”.
It’s not just about the cards, though it’s about the exciting search, the social pecking order (社会等级制度), and the thrill of tearing open a new pack. With the newest anime or video game characters on them, these cards are meant to catch and hold kids’ interest. And because they’re often sold in “blind boxes”, you never know what you’re going to get. They’re like scratch-off lottery tickets (刮刮乐彩票) for kids, instead of money, you win bragging (吹嘘) rights.
All this can turn into an expensive, vicious cycle (恶性循环). Don’t have the card you want? Buy more packs! Still no luck? Trade like your life depends on it! Sound familiar? Maybe it’s time to think about how far you would go—and whether it’s worth it—to complete your collection!
1.Collecting such cards which are mentioned in the article is expensive, isn’t it?
2.Which sentences in the article show the author’s nephew was crazy about collecting and trading cards?
3.The author’s nephew thought the cards would give him superpowers. What do superpowers refer to?
4.How do parents and teachers feel about this craze?
5.What are the cards often sold in to make kids excited?
6.If you were the author’s nephew and had a chance to say something to your past self, what would you have said?

D. Answer the questions(根据以下内容回答问题)(12分)
91.How did Karen feel at the beginning of the art lesson?
92.Why did the ballet teacher become impatient?
93.What does the underlined part “the grass was not always greener on the other side” at the end of the story try to tell us?
【答案】
88.No, they didn’t. / No. Both of them disliked Saturdays.
89.(They got up) at seven on Saturdays.
90.(Their plan was to) pretend to be the other one / exchange roles for a day.
91.She felt lost (when the art lesson started).
92.(Because “Karen” couldn’t) remember the basic steps / dance well.
93.(Any reasonable answer is acceptable.)
【解析】
91.根据When the art lesson started, Karen was lost.可知,在刚开始美术课的时候,Karen茫然不知所措,就像迷了路一样。故填:She felt lost (when the art lesson started).
92.根据As she had no idea about the dance steps, she had to follow her classmates blindly. As a result, she kept knocking into them.可知,冒牌的Karen由于找不准舞步而胡乱模仿别人,于是不断撞到其他学员身上,结果惹得老师发怒。故填:Because“Karen”couldn’t remember the basic steps / dance well.
93.(Any reasonable answer is acceptable.)文末的the grass was not always greener on the other side.是一句谚语,“这山望着那山高”之意。意思是说,得不到的看起来更诱人一些,总比已经拥有的好。所以,围绕这个意思,言之成理即可。比如:What you can't get looks more attractive.
考点:教育类短文阅读。

2.Why didn’t Grandpa tell Lucy the secret ingredient of his lasagna?
3.Who called the recipe loves-agna?
4.What does the underlined word “an idea” in paragraph 4 refer to?
5.How did Lucy finally cook the delicious lasagna for her family?
6.Complete the blank in the last paragraph.

【答案】1.No, they didn’t. 2.Because he wanted Lucy to figure it out by herself. 3.Grandpa. 4.It refers to listening to her heart when cooking instead of following the old recipe. 5.She tore up the old recipe, put away her measuring spoons and listened to her heart when cooking. 6. happy the importance of cooking with love and heart.(回答合理即可)

Stand in front of a mirror and look at it. How much do you really know about the person in it?

Li thought to himself, “Am I brave enough to show my childish hobby? I want my classmates to see me as a grown person, not a silly child.” But then he realized that classmate wasn’t silly at all.
The young man finally understood: True success requires .

Answer the questions (根据以下内容回答问题)

【答案】1.She would review the writer’s writing by looking at the picture she took with her smartphone. 2.No, they didn’t. 3.Because note-taking not only records necessary information but also helps prepare the way of understanding. 4.It makes a student’s brain take an active part in class, enables a person to begin keeping the information in mind, and to process and combine it. 5.Necessary mental involvement. 6.I will still take notes by hand. Firstly, writing things down helps me remember and understand the information better because my brain is actively involved. Secondly, taking notes by hand allows me to process and combine the information during class, which is important for learning.
【导语】本文是一篇议论文。主要讨论了在课堂上拍照代替记笔记的现象及其影响。文章通过一个学生的例子引出话题,探讨了拍照记笔记的便利性以及传统手写笔记对学习的积极作用。

2.根据“Some took pictures of notes because they knew their phones were a safe place to store material.”可知,学生认为手机是存储材料的安全地方,而非危险地方。故填No, they didn’t.
3.根据“Teachers encourage students to take notes because the act of doing so not only records necessary information but also helps prepare the way of understanding.”可知,老师鼓励记笔记是因为它能记录信息并促进理解。故填Because note-taking not only records necessary information but also helps prepare the way of understanding.

6.What made the author succeed? Why?
【答案】1.Because the economy was bad and graduates had uncertain futures. 2.He felt constant fear and pain, and days felt like weeks, weeks like months, and those many months felt like everlasting pain. 3.

Dear Mrs. Smith,
I regret to inform you that your order for bedclothes and curtains will not arrive on schedule. The reason for this is the factory that supplies our fabrics (面料) flooded during the typhoon over the weekend. All of the material it had in stock (存货) was ruined, and its workers now have to clean up the factory. This includes repairing some of the looms it uses to make the fabrics. As a result, it will take an additional two weeks for them to send us the fabrics. Since you custom-ordered these fabrics, the factory has agreed to deal with your order first. As soon as we receive it, my company will also give your order priority. After all, you are a valuable customer for us. We’ll try to get all the bed clothes and curtains done as soon as possible.
I’ll email you when we start sewing work, and again when the items are finished and we’ve done quality control on them.
____________, and I hope you will continue to choose our services in the future.
Sincerely,
Joes Sewing Company
