Do you like to praise others? Do you like listening to good words? Is showing admiration for others a good thing or a bad thing?
A few weeks ago, while I was driving to a friend’s house, I saw a mom who wore really cool jeans and her child walking their dog along the road.
As I was driving past I had my window down and shouted, “I love your jeans.” The sudden words took her by surprise in the beginning, but she then smiled happily as I drove off.
After visiting my friend, I drove back and went to fill up my car. At the gas station, I saw the same woman again. As she was passing the corner, I said, “Excuse me, were you just walking your dog not long ago?”
“Was that you? I’m happy to meet you again. Your car looks pretty cool, too,” she said with a big smile.
It made my heart sing and I almost cried at that time. We gave each other a high five and went on our way.
Praise can encourage people to perform better and improve interpersonal relationships and social harmony. In daily life, we should learn to praise others with an honest attitude and make the situation around us full of energy. 请阅读下面语篇,根据其内容回答问题,并将答案写在答题卡相应的位置上。
Traditional culture is like a valuable gift from our ancestors (祖先)—think of hanfu, mooncakes, or old folk songs. It tells us who we are and where we come from, but now we have a question: how should we pass it on? Some of us think we can add new ideas to make it fit our lives better. Others believe we need to keep it exactly as it was, so we don’t lose its true meaning. Let’s listen to both sides and see what makes sense.
We think adding new ideas to traditional culture is the best way to let it “live” with us!
Traditional culture isn’t something that’s stuck in the past. For example, think about hanfu (traditional Chinese clothes). Before, people only wore it for big traditional events. But now, designers add small modern things—like making hanfu jackets easier to zip, or using bright, fun colors that young people love. Now, many of us wear hanfu to school or parks, and more people want to learn about its history.
If we never add new ideas, traditional things might feel “boring” to us. Take old folk songs as an example: they have nice tunes (音调), but the words talk about things from long ago. If singers write new lyrics about our school life or hobbies (and keep the old tunes), we’ll actually want to listen and sing along!
Adding new ideas doesn’t mean we forget the old parts—it just lets traditional culture fit our lives better, so we’ll pass it on happily.
We don’t agree. The most important thing about traditional culture is its “true heart”—so we should keep it as it was!
Traditional culture carries our ancestors’ stories and feelings. Let’s take the Mid-Autumn Festival as an example. We eat mooncakes and look at the moon because it’s a time to miss family. If we change mooncakes into ice cream cakes (and forget why we eat them), or just play phone games instead of talking about the moon’s stories, the festival loses its meaning. It won’t feel like “Mid-Autumn Festival” anymore—it’ll just be a day to eat snacks.
Some traditional skills can’t be changed either. For example, making Chinese knots needs specific steps—each knot has a meaning (like “good luck” or “harmony”). If we tie the knots sometimes to make them fascinating, they won’t have that special meaning.
Keeping the tradition isn’t being “old-fashioned”—it’s respecting the love and wisdom our ancestors put into these things. Only by keeping their true form can we really understand and pass on our culture.
Side A (Add New Ideas)
Side B (Keep It as It Is)
Whether we add new ideas or keep it as it is, the goal is to let traditional culture stay with us. After all, loving and cherishing it is the best way to pass it on.
29. Why should traditional culture be passed on?
___________________________________
30. How many examples are given by Side A? What are they?
___________________________________
31. How should we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival according to Side B?
___________________________________
32. What does the underlined “true heart” mean?
___________________________________
33. Which way of passing on the traditional culture would you like to choose? Why?

Some traditional skills can’t be changed, either.
Why?
___________________________________
【答案】29. Because it is a valuable gift from our ancestors, and it tells us who we are and where we come from.
30. Two/2. Hanfu and old folk songs.
31. We should eat mooncakes and look at the moon.
32. It means the love and wisdom our ancestors put into these things.
33. I prefer Side A’s way because adding modern elements (like updating hanfu designs) makes traditions more practical and attractive to young people, while still preserving their cultural value.
【解析】
【导语】本文主要讨论了如何传承传统文化的问题,提出了两种观点:一种认为应该为传统文化添加新元素以使其更符合现代生活,另一种则认为应保持传统文化的原貌以保留其真实意义。文章通过具体例子(如汉服、民歌、中秋节和中国结) 展示了两种观点的论据,并强调无论哪种方式,热爱和珍视传统文化才是最好的传承方式。
【29题详解】
根据“Traditional culture is like a valuable gift from our ancestors (祖先)—think of hanfu, mooncakes, or old folk songs. It tells us who we are and where we come from”可知,它是祖先留下的珍贵礼物,能告知我们自身身份与根源,这正是传承它的核心原因。故填Because it is a valuable gift from our ancestors, and it tells us who we are and where we come from.
【30题详解】
根据“Before, people only wore it for big traditional events. But now, designers add small modern things-like making hanfu jackets easier to zip, or using bright, fun colors that young people love.”以及“Take old folk songs as an example: they have nice tunes (音调), but the words talk about things from long ago. If singers write new lyrics about our school life or hobbies (and keep the old tunes), we’ll actually want to listen and sing along!”可知,Side A段落中列举了两个例子:汉服改良(加入拉链、亮色设计,使其更贴近现代生活);古老民谣 (保留曲调,但改写关于校园生活/爱好的新歌词)。故填Two/2. Hanfu and old folk songs。
【31题详解】
根据“Let’s take the Mid-Autumn Festival as an example. We eat mooncakes and look at the moon because it’s a time to miss family.”可知,B方强调保留传统原貌,提到中秋节我们需通过吃月饼、赏月来庆祝中秋节。故填We should eat mooncakes and look at the moon.
【32题详解】
根据“The most important thing about traditional culture is its ‘true heart’—so we should keep it as it was!”以及最后一段内容可知,划线部分“true heart”指我们祖先倾注在这些事物中的爱与智慧。故填It means the love and wisdom our ancestors put into these things.
【33题详解】
本题为开放性习题,言之有理即可。故填I prefer Side A’s way because adding modern elements (like updating hanfu designs) makes traditions more practical and attractive to young people, while still preserving their cultural value.
