75-year-old hip-hop (街舞) grandma Stephanie Walsh has gained worldwide attention with her intense dance moves and incredible energy. Better known as “Ms. Stephanie” online, Walsh has been featured on social media accounts with some videos drawing more than 11 million people to watch.
Walsh believes the videos gained popularity because she is 75. “It’s because I’m a senior,” said Walsh. “You don’t usually see someone my age doing hip-hop and moving like that.” But actually, it’s more than that. Just as her profile claims, Walsh’s videos are “inspiring the world to dance like no one is watching”.
“Dance isn’t just your body, it’s what you’re feeling inside about the dance and it’s what comes out here in your face,” Walsh said. “What I want to put through my movement is how much fun it is and how much joy it gives you.”
From a young age, Walsh loved to dance but her family didn’t have the money for classes. When she was nearly 30, she got her daughter ballet lessons, which her daughter hated. So, she took her daughter out and started classes herself right away.
Walsh believes her lifelong passion for dance is what motivates her today. “Everybody has to have a passion in their life,” she said. “It’s like that saying, ‘A life without passion is a life half lived.’ I believe that.”
Walsh dances for fun and fitness, but also for therapy She struggled through countless hardships, and she has more than enough reasons to keep her down. But they don’t. She turns to her faith, her friends and of course, dance, to shine as an inspiration to those around her.
Gilbert, one of Walsh’s followers, says she inspires him every day. “She’s a beautiful soul who teaches me that it doesn’t matter about your age or your size. As long as you feel good, that’s all that matters,” says Gilbert. “I am truly thankful that Walsh is teaching me at the age of 32 to live my life full and stop being so scared.”
19. What contributes to her videos’ popularity according to Walsh?
A. Her advanced age. B. Her smooth moves. C. Her endless energy. D. Her confident claim.
20. What motivates Walsh to do hip-hop?
A. Its great social benefit. B. Its growing popularity.
C. Her enthusiasm for dance. D. Her hunger for reputation.
21. What will Walsh’s story probably inspire Gilbert to do?
A. Be active in social media. B. Set a good example to others.
C. Take full advantage of his talent. D. Adopt a positive approach to life.
22. Which is a suitable title for the text?
A. Optimistic About Life: The Way to Survive. B. Forever Young in Dance: An Inspiring Figure.
C. Embracing Social Media: The Key to Success. D. Dancing with the Young: An Amazing Journey.

Robots have learned to drive on Mars, carry out brain operation and defeat master chess players. But when it comes to baking, making tasty desserts is far from a piece of cake. After many failed attempts, US researchers have successfully 3D printed a cherry cheesecake, although the outcome is unlikely to trouble the world’s dessert masters.
In the latest experiment, researchers tried various cheesecake designs. In early attempts, which involved simply adding ingredients one by one, the team found that the cake quickly turned into a mixture. Through trial and error, they discovered that a more architectural solution was needed. Walls of biscuit base were required throughout the cake to hold the softer ingredients, while triangular (三角的) biscuit supports on the inside were necessary to keep the cake from falling apart. “To print the cake successfully, we need to put the ingredients together in a careful way,” said the team leader Cooper.
Although much work is still needed to collect data and improve the designs, scientists are hopeful that once mastered, 3D printing could replace traditional cooking, allowing food to be adapted to different nutritional(营养)needs. “We have a huge problem with the low nutrition of processed foods,” said Cooper. “3D food printing will still produce processed foods, but perhaps the silver lining will be, for some people, a better control of nutrition based on personalized needs.”
The team said 3D printing could also allow chefs to create entirely new food experiences, with flavours and textures (质地) placed very precisely. “It is particularly practical for the plant-based meat market, where texture and flavour need to be carefully designed to taste like real meats,” said Cooper. And, with more concern about food safety, food prepared with less human handling could lower the risk of food-related illness and the spread of disease. According to Cooper, this seems like a win-win solution for all of us.
23. Why does the author mention robots in paragraph 1?
A. To show the disadvantages of 3D printing.
B. To introduce the popularity of using robots.
C. To stress the difficulty of 3D printing desserts.
D. To explain the function of robots in different areas.
24. What is the key to the success of the 3D printed cheesecake?
A. The thickness of biscuit walls. B. The flexibility of inside support.
C. The unique taste of ingredients. D. The structural design of the cake.
25. What do the underlined words “the silver lining” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. The side effect. B. The main reason.
C. The positive aspect. D. The best solution.
26. What is the last paragraph mainly about concerning 3D printed food?
A. Promising markets. B. Additional benefits.
C. Practical concerns. D. Technical challenges.
C 24. D 25. C 26. B

根据第一段中“Robots have learned to drive on Mars, carry out brain operation and defeat master chess players. But when it comes to baking, making tasty desserts is far from a piece of cake. After many failed attempts, US researchers have successfully 3D printed a cherry cheesecake, although the outcome is unlikely to trouble the world’s dessert masters.(机器人已经学会了在火星上驾驶,进行大脑操作和击败国际象棋大师。但是说到烘焙,做出美味的甜点可不是小菜一碟。经过多次失败的尝试,美国研究人员成功地用3D 技术打印出了一个樱桃奶酪蛋糕,尽管这个结果不太可能困扰世界甜点大师们)”可知,机器人能在火星上驾驶,但是却很难做出美味的甜品,由此可推知,作者在第一段中提到机器人是为了强调3D打印甜点是有难度的。故选C。
【24题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“Through trial and error, they discovered that a more architectural solution was needed. Walls of biscuit base were required throughout the cake to hold the softer ingredients, while triangular (三角的) biscuit supports on the inside were necessary to keep the cake from falling apart.(通过反复试验,他们发现需要一个更加体系结构化的解决方案。整个蛋糕需要饼干底座的墙壁来容纳较软的成分,而内部的三角形饼干支架是必要的,以防止蛋糕掉下来)”可推知,3D打印芝士蛋糕成功的关键是蛋糕的结构设计。故选D。
【25题详解】
词句猜测题。根据划线短语所在句子“3D food printing will still produce processed foods, but perhaps the silver lining will be, for some people, a better control of nutrition based on personalized needs.(3D食品打印仍将生产加工食品,但也许the silver lining将是,对一些人来说,基于个性化的需求能更好地控制营养)”中but可知,前后是转折关系,3D食品打印仍将生产加工食品,这是不好的一面,但是对一些人来说,基于个性化的需求能更好地控制营养,这是它的积极方面。
根据最后一段中“And, with more concern about food safety, food prepared with less human handling could lower the risk of food-related illness and the spread of disease. According to Cooper, this seems like a win-win solution for all of us.(此外,由于人们对食物安全的关注日益增加,以较少人手处理的食物可以降低与食物有关的疾病和疾病传播的风险。据库珀所说,这对我们来说是个双赢的解决方案)”可知,最后一段主要介绍了关于3D打印食品的附加好处,故选B。
D
At top universities; there’s a phenomenon known as “Stanford Duck Syndrome (综合征)”. Like ducks, students appear to move gracefully (优雅地). However, beneath the surface, they’re kicking hopelessly to keep up.
Experts from Stanford’s Health Services explored this troubling trend: during the day, many Stanford students are seen socializing in cafés, seemingly without any stress or the need to study. However, at night, they start studying, sometimes for the entire night, trying to maintain the image of effortless success. This comes at a high price: tiredness and anxiety are widespread. Furthermore, it leads to a common wrong idea: true talents achieve success effortlessly, while those working hard are less capable.
In an effort to challenge this misconception (误解), researchers designed an experiment. Participants were asked to observe a series of colors carefully while scientists tracked their brain activity throughout the process. The experiment was divided into two parts: one with easily recognized colors and the other with colors that were quite similar, requiring more effort to recognize. As the difficulty of the task increased, there was a noticeable increase in brain activity, particularly in areas linked to memory and abstract reasoning.
The study shows that as tasks require more effort, more areas of the brain become engaged. Growth doesn’t come from talent alone but from the continuous application of effort. Our brain functions like a muscle. Without effort, even our inborn talents will disappear over time.
This pushes us to reconsider the culture behind that might lead to this phenomenon. Instead of focusing too much on outcomes or singing high praise for inborn talents, we should emphasize the learning process and continuous improvement. By encouraging a culture that values effort, we can help students realize that intelligence is not fixed but grows through hard work. Such a change would not only reduce the pressures related to the “Stanford Duck Syndrome”, but also have a big effect on personal development and the future of education.
27. What phenomenon does the “Stanford Duck Syndrome” probably describe?
A. Choosing effort over well-being.
B. Relieving stress through social activities.
C. Showing graceful images to attract others.
D. Hiding hard work to appear naturally gifted.
28. How does the experiment in paragraph 3 challenge misconception?
A. By showing effort activates the brain activity.
B. By proving focus improves brain function.
C. By linking color recognition to intelligence.
D. By connecting careful observation with talent.
29. What is the author’s main concern about “Stanford Duck Syndrome”?
A. It values the learning process over outcomes.
B. It causes stress and false ideas about success.
C. It prevents students from recognizing their talents.
D. It makes students value socializing more than studying.
30. Which of the following might the author agree with?
A. Fortune prefers those with a clear mind.
B. Hard work is the seed that grows into success.
C. Work in silence and let success make the noise.
D. Keep moving forward even when no one sees it.
D 28. A 29. B 30. B

根据文章第一段“Like ducks, students appear to move gracefully(优雅地). However, beneath the surface, they’re kicking hopelessly to keep up.(就像鸭子一样,学生们表面上看似行动优雅,从容不迫;但在水面之下,他们却在拼命扑腾,只为跟上节奏。)”以及第二段“However, at night, they start studying, sometimes for the entire night, trying to maintain the image of effortless success.(然而到了晚上,他们便开始投入学习,有时甚至会通宵苦读,只为维持毫不费力就能成功的形象。)”
根据文章第三段“Participants were asked to observe a series of colors carefully while scientists tracked their brain activity throughout the process. The experiment was divided into two parts: one with easily recognized colors and the other with colors that were quite similar, requiring more effort to recognize. As the difficulty of the task increased, there was a noticeable increase in brain activity, particularly in areas linked to memory and abstract reasoning.(参与者被要求仔细观察一系列颜色,同时科学家在整个过程中追踪他们的大脑活动。实验分为两部分:一部分是容易辨认的颜色,另一部分是十分相似的颜色,需要付出更多努力才能辨认。随着任务难度的增加,大脑活动明显增强,尤其是在与记忆和抽象推理相关的区域。)”可知,第三段实验过程随着任务难度提升,大脑活动明显增强,尤其是记忆和抽象推理相关脑区;再结合第四段结论“The study shows that as tasks require more effort, more areas of the brain become engaged.(该研究表明,任务对努力的需求越高,参与工作的脑区就越多。)” 故选A。
根据文章第二段“This comes at a high price: tiredness and anxiety are widespread. Furthermore, it leads to a common wrong idea: true talents achieve success effortlessly, while those working hard are less capable.(这种状态的代价高昂:疲惫与焦虑在学生群体中普遍存在。此外,这还催生了一种常见的错误观念:真正有天赋的人能轻松获得成功,而那些努力奋斗的人能力则相对较弱。)”可知,作者明确指出斯坦福鸭子综合征的两大问题——一是导致学生普遍疲惫焦虑,二是催生天赋者轻松成功、努力者能力弱的错误观念。故选B。
【30题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第四段“Growth doesn’t come from talent alone but from the continuous application of effort.(成长并非仅靠天赋,而是源于持续不断的努力付出。)”以及第五段“Instead of focusing too much on outcomes or singing high praise for inborn talents, we should emphasize the learning process and continuous improvement. By encouraging a culture that values effort, we can help students realize that intelligence is not fixed but grows through hard work.(我们不应过分关注结果,也不应过度吹捧先天天赋,而应重视学习过程与持续进步。通过倡导重视努力的文化,我们能帮助学生认识到,智力并非固定不变,而是能通过努力不断提升的。)”可知,作者始终强调努力对成功的关键作用。故选B。
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Feeling upset is a normal part of life. Something stressful may occur everywhere, and make you angry or anxious. We can’t control what is happening around us. ____31____ Here are some useful ways to keep our cool when we feel frustrated.
____32____
Conflicts with others can be difficult to deal with. Sometimes we need to leave from the unpleasant condition. It is OK to say, “I’m going to take a break” and go for a walk or find a quiet place to sit and cool off. The goal is to give yourself some space to calm down and consider what to do next.
Do breathing exercises to relax
When we’re upset, our nervous system will speed up our heart rate and muscles tense. It prepares the body as if to meet an attack. ____33____ If possible, find a safe place, sit comfortably and focus on your breath, breathing deeply and evenly. Mindful breathing helps us calm our feelings.
Lift your mood with laughter
Laughter relieves the tension we feel when depressed. We can think of a joke or watch a video that always makes us roar with laughter. Afterward, you may be able to lift the fog of frustration. Make sure what you use is not mean-spirited, though. ____34____
Change your language
Once things appear disappointing, many of us might punish ourselves with unkind words. In fact, it doesn’t have to be this way. ____35____ For example, instead of saying “I always mess things up,” we could say, “I made a mistake, but I’ll do it better next time.”
A. Keep yourself away from the noise
B. Remove yourself from the situation
C. We should turn negative thoughts into positive statements.
D. Those kinds of humor can actually make us feel more down.
E. Thus, we can be physically and mentally entertained from that.
F. You can soften such physical reaction by using practical techniques.
G. However, we can decide how we behave and react to the troubles we face.
G 32. B 33. F 34. D 35. C
前文“We can’t control what is happening around us. (我们无法控制周围发生的事情。)”结合下文“Here are some useful ways to keep our cool when we feel frustrated. (当我们感到沮丧时,下面是一些有用的方法让我们保持冷静。)”以及下文的小标题内容可知,我们控制不了周围发生的事情,但是我们可以改变自己来保持冷静,不沮丧,因此推断空处承上启下,G项“然而,我们可以决定我们如何行动和如何应对我们面临的麻烦。”符合语境,与上文是转折关系,引出下文内容。故选G。
【32题详解】
分析文章结构可知,空处是段落标题,根据下文“Conflicts with others can be difficult to deal with. Sometimes we need to leave from the unpleasant condition. It is OK to say, “I’m going to take a break” and go for a walk or find a quiet place to sit and cool off. The goal is to give yourself some space to calm down and consider what to do next. (与他人的冲突很难处理。有时候我们需要离开不愉快的环境。你可以说:“我要休息一下”,然后散散步,或者找个安静的地方坐下来凉快一下。这样做的目的是给自己一些空间来冷静下来,考虑下一步要做什么。)”可知,本段建议当与他人有冲突时可以远离那种状况,让自己冷静下来,因此推断B项“脱离那种情况”为最近标题,概况了本段主旨。故选B。
【33题详解】
前文“When we’re upset, our nervous system will speed up our heart rate and muscles tense. It prepares the body as if to meet an attack. (当我们心烦意乱时,我们的神经系统会加快心率,肌肉会紧张。它让身体准备好迎接攻击。)”说明在烦恼的时候,身体会有应激反应,心跳加快,肌肉紧张,F项“你可以用一些实用的技巧来缓和这种生理反应。”符合语境,选项中的such physical reaction呼应前文提到的身体上的反应。故选F。
【34题详解】
前文“Laughter relieves the tension we feel when depressed. We can think of a joke or watch a video that always makes us roar with laughter. Afterward, you may be able to lift the fog of frustration. Make sure what you use is not mean-spirited, though.
前文“Once things appear disappointing, many of us might punish ourselves with unkind words. In fact, it doesn’t have to be this way. (一旦事情看起来令人失望,我们中的许多人可能会用不友好的话惩罚自己。事实上,它并不一定要这样。)”说明沮丧时说一些不好的话是不可取的,下文“For example, instead of saying “I always mess things up,” we could say, “I made a mistake, but I’ll do it better next time.” (例如,与其说“我总是把事情搞砸”,我们可以说“我犯了一个错误,但下次我会做得更好。”)”举例说明不说消极的话,说积极的话,C项“我们应该把消极的想法变成积极的陈述”符合语境,承上启下。故选C。

A The side effect. B. The main reason.
C. The positive aspect. D. The best solution.
26. What is the last paragraph mainly about concerning 3D printed food?
A. Promising markets. B. Additional benefits.
C Practical concerns. D. Technical challenges.
