FaceApp is getting popular, thanks to its old age filter (滤镜)that allows people to run their photos through the free app to see what they may look like 40 years in the future. However, its terms (条款) of service are also increasing worries about what data the app collects, who owns it, and how photos are processed. The latest FaceApp's privacy policy was created on January 20, 2017, and did little to address these worries in clear terms.
While FaceApp's privacy policy throws some light on the app that makes users look old, it leaves more questions than answers. The main worry is whether it's clear to users that FaceApp is sending their photos to the cloud, instead of processing them privately on a person's equipment, and how long the company holds onto their photos.
In a statement of Fortune, FaceApp CEO Yaroslav Goncharov said the company processed photos in the cloud, but “most” were deleted within 48 hours. The app's team is based in Russia, however the company says none of the data it processes is sent to the country.
“The privacy policy is both pretty bad, and not much worse than the garden-variety policy you might come across from any app or service that didn't put time into trying to make its policy even somewhat understandable,” says Lindsey Barrett, a teacher at Georgetown Law's Communications and Technology Clinic. From a privacy, she says, “The company's statements about how it processes photos in the cloud, and when it deletes them, are helpful, but they don't make the terms of the privacy policy clearer.”
Users do have some rights. Goncharov says his support team is very busy, dealing with requests from users who want their data deleted from its servers. This can be done by going to settings, support, and choosing “report a bug (程序错误)”. Users should type the word “privacy” in the subject line to send their requests.

A.It will go out of date very soon. B.It may make people less hopeful.
C.It may be collecting data secretly. D.It will charge users in the future.

C.The unclearness of the terms of service. D.The country the company belongs to.
3.What do Barrett's words in paragraph 4 mean?( )
A.FaceApp should provide more service.
B.The privacy policy is not known by people.
C.The privacy policy is difficult to remember.
D.FaceApp still might influence people's privacy.
4.What right do users have according to Goncharov?( )
A.Saving their own photos.
B.Reporting their requests to the police.

Before the Internet age, critical thinking was the most important skill of people. But in the digital age, according to Anastasia Kozyreva, a famous psychologist, a more important skill is critical ignoring.
As researchers point out, we live in an attention economy where content producers on the Internet compete for our attention. They attract us with many eye-catching stories while providing little useful information, so they can offer us advertisements producing profit. So we are not customers but products, and each link we click is a sale of our time and attention. To protect ourselves from this, Kozyreva calls on us to learn the skill of critical ignoring, in which readers can control their information environments to reduce exposure to false information.
According to Kozyreva, critical ignoring includes three strategies. The first is to design our environments, which includes removing low-quality yet hard-to-resist (难以抵制的) information from around. Successful dieters need to keep unhealthy food out of their homes. Similarly, we need to set up a digital environment where attention-catching items are kept out of sight. Like dieting, if one tries to depend on willpower not to click eye-catching “news”, he'll surely fail. So, it's better to keep them out of sight at first! The next is to judge the reliability of information, whose purpose is to protect you from false information. It can be realized by checking the source in the mainstream, which can be reliable.
The last is “never feed the trolls”. Trolls are some people who spread false information online to cause harm. Do not correct them, because they do not care about whether the information is correct. Annoying others is their goal. So, ignore their bad behaviour.
By using the above critical ignoring skills, we can make the most of the Internet while avoiding being harmed by those who try to control our attention, time, and minds.
1.What can we learn about the attention economy from paragraph 2?( )
A.It offers more information. B.If offers depressing stories.

2.Why does the author mention dieters in paragraph 3?( )
A.To explain the power of will.
B.To prove the benefits of healthy food.
C.To show the importance of environments.
D.To discuss the quality of information.
3.What should we do to deal with Internet trolls according to the text?( )
A.Review their aim. B.Turn a deaf ear to them.
C.Correct their behaviour. D.Send hard facts to them.
4.What is the text mainly about?( )
A.Strategies for Internet users to apply critical thinking.
B.Reasons for critical thinking in the attention economy.
C.Practising the skills of critical ignoring in the digital age.
D.Increasing the benefits of critical ignoring on the Internet.

My dad was a cleaner in my school. When I was 12, I decided to study hard to have a life different from his.
One day when Dad asked me to play basketball with him, I just replied, “I'm busy. I want to study well so that I can become a rich man. I don't want to be a cleaner like you, Dad!” He was shocked, but I didn't care and continued studying hard. Finally, I graduated from high school with honors, and decided it was time to break free from my dad and follow my dreams.
“Dad, I got a scholarship to a law school in California,” I told him. “I'll leave in 3 days.” My dad was surprised but proud of me. As I left for the airport 3 days later, he said, “Son, wherever you go, welcome back home.” I ignored (忽视) his words and flew to California.
After I graduated, I found a great job there. Later, I was made manager and earned much money. I no longer remembered my father was a cleaner. I had forgotten my dad, who was still cleaning my school. I seldom answered his calls or wrote back to him. I was busy; I still had a lot more to achieve.
With time, the more success I tasted, somehow, the lonelier I became. I felt especially lonely on my 31st birthday. I kept checking my phone, hoping someone wished me a happy birthday. But there wasn't a single call or message. Later that evening when I returned home from my office, something in my mailbox drew my attention.
“A letter?” I whispered and saw it was from my father. He never forgot to mail me a letter on my birthday. However, I never took the trouble to read it. “How did I ignore him?” I thought. I brought the letter home and took out his earlier letters. And I opened one. It read, “Wherever you are, I love you to the last drop of my blood. I wish you a happy life.”
