一、阅读理解
In May, 2023, Joy Kochar and 10 other students got together in Columbus Park, New York City. They set up a table with lemonade, cookies, and origami figures for sale. They were hoping to raise money for their school to solve a big problem: many spotted lanternflies (斑点灯笼蝇) had recently appeared in the area.
They wanted to raise $200. That was the cost of the tools the kids needed to catch spotted lanternflies. They only made about $75. So they decided to hold more activities to collect money.
Since 2014, spotted lanternflies have been seen across the eastern United States. They are harmful (有害的) to many plants. State officials have encouraged people to kill spotted lanternflies.
Joy saw many spotted lanternflies in her school courtyard. She decided to do something, so she started a club called Squash. Its goal is to kill spotted lanternflies around the school. More than 20 students have joined.
Joy did some research and found a plant named milkweed. It is good food for some insects (昆虫) but it is toxic to spotted lanternflies. Joy thought using milkweed would be a better way to kill spotted lanternflies.
Finally, their effort (努力) paid off. They raised $197 in all. That was enough to buy milkweed.

Doing chores as a family is more than just getting the work done. It mainly teaches children responsibility. When kids have their own chores, they learn that they have a role to play in keeping the household running smoothly. For example, if a child is in charge of feeding the pet every day, they learn to be consistent (坚持的) and to take care of another living being. Chores also help in building a sense of teamwork. When everyone in the family works together, it creates a positive and cooperative environment. The Paralympic Games are an international sports event for athletes with disabilities. Like the Olympic Games, they are held every four years and include many sports, such as swimming, running, and cycling. During the games, many athletes compete with a guide.
Santos lost her sight in her teens. Now at the age of 42, she holds the women’s world record in the 100-meter dash for blind or nearly blind athletes. When she races with her guide, Garcia, he runs to her left. He holds a short tether (拴绳) in his right hand, while Santos holds the other end in her left.
Since 2012, most Paralympic guides have received medals (奖牌) with their athletes. However, their teamwork often goes beyond the finish line. While training daily with Santos, Garcia is also preparing for the Olympics. “I prefer being a guide,” said Garcia. “I feel more pressure (压力) at the Paralympics. I have to give 200 percent of myself to avoid mistakes and help my teammate succeed.”
A similar story comes from American para-cyclist Hannah and her guide, Skyler. Every time Hannah climbs on a bike behind Skyler, Skyler reaches back to hold her hand. “It reminds us we’re in this together,” said Skyler.
Hannah and Skyler follow the same training plan. When training gets too hard, Hannah remembers she is working not just for herself, but for Skyler too. Skyler believes that if she hadn’t begun guiding, she would never have shone so much in sports. “I’m lucky that Hannah chose me to do this, just as I chose her,” she said.

二、完形填空
Choose the best answer and complete the passage (选择最恰当的选项完成短文)
We all enjoy being part of a group. There’s no better work than teamwork, right? Actually, I 16 . Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own. It’s a much better fit for me, and it has made me think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder rather than easier.
Personalities (个性) can make teamwork 17 . There’s often someone on the team that puts their needs first. The team often goes along with this person, whose 18 might not be the best, just the loudest. Just one difficult personality can make teamwork hard. Combine (结合) several challenging personality types, and it’s even harder.
Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging. For example, I was once on a team where we never had enough time to meet as a group. To 19 work as a team, you need time together, and lots of it.
A final reason why teamwork is difficult is that there’s often no training on how to work on a team. You can’t just put people in a room and expect them to work well with each other. You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players: They aren’t just given a ball and told to play. They practice, and they train.
Team can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn’t work, I don’t have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don’t have anyone to 20 it with to see if it really is a great idea. Don’t get me wrong — I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realise what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past and 21 good teamwork could be if done correctly. And that’s useful information because one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into a WE TEAM.
16.A.wonder B.disagree C.support D.conclude
17.A.easy B.touching C.difficult D.perfect
18.A.conditions B.complaints C.understanding D.ideas
19.A.carefully B.successfully C.extremely D.severely

四、任务型阅读
根据短文内容, 按要求回答问题。
People say teamwork is great, but I think it can sometimes make things harder. I used to work in an office, but now I work alone at home. It made me wonder: Why does teamwork cause problems instead of solving them?
Some people just want things their way. In a team, there’s often someone who talks the loudest or acts selfishly (自私地). Others might agree with them even if their ideas aren’t good. Teamwork feels like solving a puzzle (谜) with missing pieces when different personalities mix. It’s impossible to work well in those cases.
Time is another problem. Once, I was on a team that never met enough. We were all busy and had no time to talk about good plans. Teams need hours together to share ideas and listen—like a football team that practices every day. If players don’t train, they can’t win games.
Many teams also don’t learn how to work together. Trust doesn’t magically appear. You can’t throw strangers into a room and say, “Be a team!” You need to learn to respect each other and solve problems step by step. But most teams never get this training.
Working alone isn’t perfect, though. When my computer breaks, I miss having helpers nearby. When I think of a cool idea, there’s no one to ask, “Is this good?” Making all the decisions myself is fun, but it’s lonely too.
Still, I like my quiet “me team” better now. I decide everything, and there’s no arguing—quite independent! But I finally understand why my old teams failed. Good teamwork needs patience, time, and people who care about each other. Maybe one day, if I learn to fix those problems, my “me team” could grow into a real “we team.” After all, even the best players need a team to win.
42.Why did the writer leave teamwork for working alone? (No more than 8 words)
43.Why does the writer compare selfish team members to “a puzzle with missing pieces”? (No more than 8 words)
44.What does the football team example show about teamwork? (No more than 6 words)
45.What happens when teams don’t solve the problems step-by-step? (No more than 3 words)
46.Why does the writer call his team a “me team” but still want a “we team”? (With a sentence)
【答案】42.Because teamwork caused problems. 43.Different personalities mix poorly. 44.Teams need time together. 45.They fail. 46.He enjoys independence but recognizes teamwork’s value.
42.根据文章“People say teamwork is great, but I think it can sometimes make things harder.” Because teamwork caused problems.
43.根据文章“Teamwork feels like solving a puzzle with missing pieces when different personalities mix.”(当不同性格的人混在一起时,团队合作就像拼图缺了碎片)可知,作者将自私成员比作“缺失的拼图”,是因为性格差异导致合作困难。故填Different personalities mix poorly.
44.根据文章“Teams need hours together to share ideas and listen—like a football team that practices every day.”(团队需要时间共同分享想法和倾听,就像足球队每天训练一样)可知,足球队的例子说明团队需要投入时间磨合。故填Teams need time together.
45.根据文章“But most teams never get this training.”(但大多数团队从未接受过这种训练)及前文对团队失败原因的描述(如缺乏逐步解决问题),可推知,未逐步解决问题的团队会失败。故填They fail.
46.根据文章“I like my quiet ‘me team’... but I finally understand why my old teams failed. Good teamwork needs...”(我喜欢安静的“单人团队”……但也终于明白旧团队失败的原因。好的团队合作需要……)可知,作者享受独立决策的自由,但也意识到团队合作的价值。故填He enjoys independence but recognizes teamwork’s value.
A Teacher’s Journal
April 14
When my students work together on projects, everything usually works out. I had my doubts①today, though, when I put Sharla, Tess, and Lee together to make a model volcano②.
At one point, I knew something was going to get out of control, and it wasn’t the volcanol. I knew the girls weren’t good friends, but I always encouraged my students to learn to work together with all their classmates. I could tell they felt a little shy when they sat down for their first planning meeting. The students in other groups asked me questions, so I didn’t watch the three girls for a while. When I turned to look at them again, one looked angry, another looked sad, and the third was almost crying. Oh no!
As I went back, they all started talking at once. Tess didn’t want to have to touch “that icky paste③” to build the volcano. Sharla had some new ideas, but she couldn’t make the other two understand her. Lee thought they should stop talking and get to work at once.
I ________ and suggested that they make a list of the things they had all agreed on. They then told me they had already agreed that they were going to make a volcano out of flour, salt and water. But they couldn’t reach an agreement on the size, the base for the volcano, or who should mix the paste. Each girl had her own ideas and wouldn’t change her mind for teamwork or progress.
By this time, the group work was over and it was time for lunch break. The girls made very little progress and I thought it was probably my mistake. Maybe these three students just couldn’t work together in a group.

“The effort would not have been a success without teamwork. I learned that two minds are better than one,” Joy says.

Moreover, sharing chores can reduce the burden (负担) on every person and make the home a more harmonious (和睦的) place to live.

20.A.share B.cooperate C.spread D.inform
21.A.when B.who C.how D.while

①doubt怀疑 ②volcano火山
③icky paste恶心的胶水
47.Sharla, Tess, and Lee were good friends, weren’t they?
48.Why didn’t the teacher watch the three girls for a while?
49.How did the three girls look when the teacher turned to look at them again?
50.What can be filled in the blank in Paragraph Four? (Answer with no more than 10 words)
51.What did the girls reach an agreement on for the model volcano?
52.Do you think the three girls could work together in a group? Why or why not?
