Relative Clause Learning goals: 1、To get to know relative clauses 2、To learn about and practice relative courses and relative pronouns Difficult points: How to use relative clauses Key Points: Learn the basic knowledge of relative clauses. Teaching procedures: Step 1: warm up. Get the students to watch a video about relative clause to lead in the topic of relative clause. Step 2: Get the students to read a passage which is the summary of our text and lead them to pay attention to the relative clauses which are underlined. Paul was a boy who was a huge fan of the NBA. He loved to play basketball with his friend on the court which was next to their building. He used Bogues who was only 1.6 meters tall as his inspiration. He was a replacement but he was someone who worked really hard and has a strong desire to play for the team. However Paul didn t get a chance which he was waiting for. This week, a player whose knee hurt couldn play in a competition(比赛). The player along with other players asked the coach to let Paul try because Paul was a good player whom they believed in(信任). The coach who refused(拒绝) at first agreed at last . Paul rushed onto the court and made shot after shot. When the game ended, their team won by 2 points. Step 3 I give the students the definition of attributive and relative clause. Show examples. 1.I am a teacher who teaches english. 2.He gave me a book that /which he bought yesterday. Step4 Get the students to read the summary again and pay attention to the words in read , in blue and the yellow to introduce the precedings which are placed the in front of a relative clause and the relative pronouns and relative clause. Step5 Give the students some examples and and ask them to tell the precedings, relative pronouns and the usage of relative pronouns in the relative clauses. When we weren’t playing on the court which/that was next to our building, we were watching a game on TV.
