B Qu Yuan, a renowned poet and politician in ancient China, lived during the Warring States Period. Born into a good family in the state of Chu around 340 BC, he was highly smart and well-educated from a young age. Qu Yuan’s early life was filled with success. King Huai of Chu recognized his talent and appointed (任命) him as a high-ranking official. Qu Yuan devoted himself to making Chu a stronger and better state. He gave the king good ideas to make the country’s laws better and help the people. He also tried to encourage unity among other states. However, his honest advice made some officials angry and they told the king lies about Qu Yuan. Slowly, King Huai began to doubt Qu Yuan and made him leave the capital city. During his banishment, Qu Yuan wrote poems to show his love for Chu and his sadness when the country was in trouble. His most famous poem Li Sao mixes stories about history and his own feelings. It’s very important in Chinese literature. Even though life was hard for him, he never stopped worrying about his homeland. In 278 BC, when the Qin army took the capital of Chu, Qu Yuan, heartbroken and hopeless, jumped into the Miluo River and died on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. His selfless patriotism (爱国主义) touched people deeply. Now, people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival by having dragon boat races and eating zongzi to remember him and what he had done for the country. 4 What can we know about Qu Yuan according to paragraph 1? A. He was born in a family in the state of Qin. B. He was an official in the Spring and Autumn Period. C. He is recognized as both a poet and a politician. D. He had no educational background in his early life. 5. What does the underlined word “banishment” mean in the third paragraph? A. A happy time in the capital. B. Being forced to leave a place. C. A high-ranking position in the government. D. A successful life with much money. 6. What kind of person was Qu Yuan? A. Dishonest and lazy. B. Smart and patriotic. C. Cruel and selfish. D. Shy and weak. 7. Why do people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival? A. To celebrate the harvest season. B. To remember Qu Yuan’s birthday. C. To show their love for Qu Yuan’s poems. D. To remember Qu Yuan’s love for the country. C Most of us know that a healthy diet keeps our body strong and free from disease. But few people realize that daily food choices can also shape our mood (心情) and mental health. Eating certain foods may make us feel happier and more alert, while others can increase feelings of stress, sadness or confusion. Wolfgang Marx is the deputy director of the Food & Mood Centre at Deakin University in Australia. In a study published in The BMJ, he found that people who often ate ultra-processed (过度加工的) foods — foods made mostly from industrial ingredients (原料) — and few natural nutrients had a 48% higher risk of anxiety and a 22% higher risk of depression (抑郁). Ultra-processed foods include items that contain ingredients or additives not normally found in a home kitchen. These additives improve taste, keep food fresh or make cooking faster. They often contain extra salt, sugar and unhealthy fat. Many soft drinks and fast-food items also fall into this group, as do common snacks like instant noodles, hot dogs and potato chips. In another study, researchers from Britain and the Netherlands examined the diets of thirty volunteers and used MRI (核磁共振成像) to scan their brains. They found that those with poorer diets had less grey matter in the front part of the brain and an imbalance in certain brain chemicals. Both the loss of grey matter and chemical imbalance are linked to mental health problems. The good news is that a healthy diet might help protect our minds. The Mediterranean diet, based on fresh vegetables, fruits, fish and olive oil, may help protect mental health. A review of thirteen studies reported lower rates of depression and anxiety in young people who followed this diet. A twenty-year study of Swedish women aged twenty-nine to forty-nine also found that those who stuck to this plan were less likely to develop depression later. These findings suggest that choosing natural and fresh foods can support both physical and mental health. To benefit, we can try to eat more natural foods and fewer ultra-processed items every day. 8. What did Marx’s study find? A. Ultra-processed foods make people more anxious. B. Daily vegetable eaters keep mood more steady. C. Drinking lots of water makes people stressful. D. Avoiding sugary foods ensures better mental health. 9. Which of the following is a feature of ultra- processed foods? A. High nutritional value. B. Extra salt and sugar. C. Natural ingredients. D. Fresh produce. 10. What is the benefit of a Mediterranean-style diet according to the text? A. Increasing ingredient intake. B. Getting a disease-free life. C. Keeping young significantly. D. Reducing the chance of being anxious. 11. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To discuss modern eating habits and origins. B. To compare different eating patterns across cultures. C. To discuss the nutritional content of ultra-processed foods. D. To explain diets’ impact on mental health. D Some of us go to art museums on the weekend. But what if we got no art? This seems impossible, yet a large number of modern artists called for it. André Breton repeatedly called for the end of literature. Piet Mondrian believed that if we did abolish (废除) art, no one would miss it. These points were linked with a historical moment, yet it’s easy to see followers in our own time. Many people thought sometimes art was in the wrong way: expensive, inaccessible and hard to understand. Actually, those people wished not to abolish creation, but to break art out of its frame (框架) so there would be no differences between art and ordinary objects. It was obvious that these early calls didn’t achieve their goals. Among several ideas, André Breton suggested walking in the city as a new form of poetic activity. But it’s struggling to get away from thoughts of goals and destinations, and crossing the busy street has its own risks. So it can be concluded that art and life don’t mix. Today, people want arts again. There’s much to be said for the view that art should include beautiful objects. In a world that is increasingly digital, the pleasures of stopping and looking at something beautiful help us slow down and rest in the moment. But if we think this is all art should achieve, we’re saying that all human creations will be limited within a picture frame. Although the idea of removing art is really radical (激进的), art shouldn’t be limited by frames either. We might tell ourselves that an everyday experience, no matter how unusual, can never be the highest art — but André Breton thought it could. We might tell ourselves that the colors we paint on walls at home can never be art, no matter how much pleasure they give us — but Piet Mondrian thought they could. The value of art is about getting free from limits while still pursuing beauty, and we need to use our creativity to find art in everyday life. 12. How does André Breton suggest closing the distance between art and life? A. By abolishing creating and showing art. B. By viewing everyday activities as art. C. By setting clear goals for art creations. D. By adding art part to ordinary lives. 13. Why are beautiful artworks needed in the digital age? A. To help people slow down. B. To consider public preferences. C. To limit human creativity. D. To present rich thoughts and ideas. 14. What is the main idea of the last paragraph? A. Art should be limited to beautiful objects. B. Everyday experiences can never be considered art. C. Digital technology has made traditional art meaningless. D. Art should find beauty from traditional limits and everyday life. 15. What’s the suitable title for the text? A. Is Art Really Important? B. Why Art Changes Its Form C. Should We Abolish Art? D. What’s the Future of Art? Have you ever heard of extreme sports or action sports? ____16____ They include activities like skydiving, surfing, rock climbing, bungee jumping, and snowboarding. The place was famous for being about twice the size of a gas station convenience store but still having almost everything you could find at a big box store. The retail (零售) workers there knew where everything was, and there was always at least one employee standing in the front by the entrance and then took the customer to the location of whatever they asked for. We would also carry things out to folks’ cars. Our boss very clearly told us that we were not to accept tips (小费) from customers for helping them in carrying what they bought. One day, an old lady came in. I’d guess she was in her mid-eighties. She had perfectly done hair that never moved independent of the rest of her head. She was just a well-put-together and kind woman. She lived in an old private school that was now an apartment building for the elderly. She wanted some lawn (草坪) chairs so she could have guests in her garden. It only took us five minutes to find a chair she liked. It was light enough for her to move and fold by herself. She bought three chairs. When she got to the cashiers, she asked if someone could help her take the chairs to her apartment. But all the assistants were busy. She looked disappointed. Because she was so friendly and polite, I said I would help her after work. It was dark when I got to her building. She let me in and showed me where to put the chairs. Before I could say “Thank you for shopping at Local Hardware Store”, she grabbed my hand and gave me some candies. I was very surprised and could barely say thank you. But when I did, she also gave me a $20 bill. I responded out of habit and refused her tip politely. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I hesitated not knowing what to do with the money. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高一年级考试 英语 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? Born into a good family in the state of Chu around 340 BC, he was highly smart and well-educated from a young age. Qu Yuan’s early life was filled with success. A Ultra-processed foods make people more anxious. 8. A 9. B 10. D 11. 12. B 13. A 14. D 15. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I hesitated, not knowing what to do with the money. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: I responded out of habit and refused her tip politely. I explained I couldn’t accept tips due to my boss's rules but thanked her so much for the thought. The lady looked right into my eyes, closed my fingers around the candies and the money, and replied with delightful sincerity. “If you don’t want your boss to know you have this money, just don’t tell him about it” she said. Politely, I said I couldn’t do that. However, she insisted on giving me a tip, shut me outside the door and asked me to go back. I hesitated, not knowing what to do with the money. I returned to work and decided to tell my boss about the lady's tip. Handing over the money, I explained what had happened. My boss listened attentively, then smiled and said my honesty was valuable. He appreciated I was honest. As a symbol of his recognition, he gave me an extra bonus equal to that tip amount. I was shocked and grateful. This experience taught me to value honesty and showed me that being honest can bring pleasant rewards. 解释:explain/make an explanation ②.坚持:insist on/stick to ③.告知某人某事:tell sb about  sth/inform sb of sth 情绪类 ①.感到惊讶的:shocked/surprised/astonished ②.感激的:grateful/thankful 【点睛】[高分句型1].
