Sure, it's good to get along well with your teacher because it makes the time you spend in the classroom more pleasant.
And yes, it's good to get along well with your teacher because, in general, it's smart to learn how to get along well with the different types of people you'll meet throughout your life.
In fact, kids who get along well with their teachers not only learn more, but they're more comfortable about asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier for them to understand new materials and do their best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning or school issues.
Here is a question: what if you don't get along well with your teachers? In fact, teachers want to get along well with you and enjoy seeing you learn. But teachers and students sometimes have personality clashes(个性冲突), which can happen between any two people. If you show your teacher that you want to make the situation better, he or she will probably do everything possible to make that happen.By dealing with a problem like this, you learn something about how to get along with people who are different from you.
However, if a certain teacher isn't your favorite, you can still have a successful relationship with him or her, especially ________.Here are some of those responsibilities:
Attend class ready to learn.
Be prepared for class with the right pencils, books, and completed assignments.
Listen when your teacher is talking.
Do your best, whether it's a classroom assignment, homework, or a test.
8. The passage is written for ________.
A. teachers B. advisers C. students D. parents
9. According to the passage, getting along well with your teachers will make you ________.
A. get the best scores in the exams
B have more pleasant time in the classroom
C. have no problems with study
D. get a better seat in the classroom
10. The underlined word “that” in the fourth paragraph refers to ________.
A. getting along very well with classmates
B. the disappearance of personality differences
C. a better relationship between you and your teacher
D. the happy time you have in the classroom
11. “________” can be filled in the blank.
A. if you fulfill your basic responsibilities as a student
B. if you are easygoing and helpful
C. if you know some basic social skills
D. if you are thought of as a good student
D
Most people follow others blindly mainly under the effect of peer(同龄人) pressure. Some people also feel it safe to follow a large number of people. In some rare cases it might be right to follow the crowd(群众), but in most cases this can be one big mistake. Actually there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow the crowd blindly.
According to a study, people tend to follow the crowd when they aren’t sure about the direction they should take. This means a large number of people could be following others without understanding what’s right and what’s wrong! This attracts more people to follow them and the result is that most people move in a certain direction even if it isn’t right.
A man who wants to be successful always hopes for others’ guidance and he usually follows the same path of most people, but the question this man never asks himself is:are all of those people successful?Of course not!If you want to follow a crowd, then follow a successful one. However, in real life you’ll only find one successful person among hundreds of people, and that’s why following the crowd makes no sense at all.
Most people act without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they’re greater than you in number, then sooner or later you’ll discover that you’re making decisions you might regret later.
However, should we never follow the crowd? No. I’m not trying to say you should never follow the crowd, but instead I’m just asking you to think wisely before you make a decision. If you find others are right, there is no problem in following them, but if you have doubts about the direction they’re moving in, don’t follow them blindly.
12. According to the text, most people follow others blindly mainly because .
A. they are affected by their peers B. they don’t believe in themselves
C. they feel it safe to stay with others D. they are weaker than other people
13. What can we learn from Paragraph 4?
A. It needs some time to think wisely.
B. We shouldn’t regret what we have done.
C. We should think wisely before deciding to follow others.
D. Making others follow us is better than following others.
14. Which of the following will the author agree with?
A. It is wrong to follow other people.
B. Those who follow others won’t succeed.
C. Only those foolish people will follow others.
D. One should use his head before following others.
15. What is the text mainly about?
A. Effects of following others.
B. Benefits of making wise decisions.
C. Reasons why most people follow others.
D. Reasons why people shouldn’t follow others blindly.

“Happy birthday, dear Rhea, happy birthday to you!” Silence penetrated (穿透) the room.
“Make a wish," my mom said in a sweet whisper. Now, I’m a straight A student, confident and popular, but that’s not what I was a year ago. It was my mom’s love that made me what I am today. Looking around the room filled with my friends, I couldn't help but smile.
I wish...
Memories flooded back. The December morning breeze brushed my long, black hair as I stepped towards the doors of Hagenberg High. It was my first day of school. Only two weeks ago, my mom and I migrated to America, hoping for a bright new life.
My English was poor, and I was alone, like a lost little kid. I unknowingly avoided interacting with anyone because I was afraid they’d laugh in my face. When my English was better, I decided, I would come up to people and maybe manage to say, “Whussup?”
Finally in gym class, a friendly brown face. She almost looked like me, only happier .Her name was Caroline. At lunchtime we found ourselves enjoying the cafeteria food. She wanted me to meet her friends. “Don’t worry Rhea,” she assured me, calling me “sister”, “You’ll fit right in.”
And I did. It was as if some foreign soul entered my body and made me do things against my will. I found myself drinking beer, smoking cigarettes and skipping school. I didn't even like the taste of beer. The moment it touched my tongue I felt like I had to spit it back. But I didn't. I couldn’t afford to look bad and lose my new “friends”. I began to miss at least one day of school a week to hang out with them. Then I missed two, three, even four days in a row.
But while I was out having fun with my “friends,” inside I was full of conflict, unhappiness and regret. I stopped practicing my English sentences in front of the mirror and instead practiced, “I don’t know why the school called, mom. There must be something wrong in the system because I did not miss school today.”
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
(2)请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
One day the school teacher called my mom and the truth came out.

【答案】12. A 13. C 14. D 15. D
【解析】

【13题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段Most people act without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they’re greater than you in number, then sooner or later you’ll discover that you’re making decisions you might regret later.
I’m not trying to say you should never follow the crowd, but instead I’m just asking you to think wisely before you make a decision.可知我不是说你永远不要随大流,我只是要求你在做决定前好好考虑一下。由此可推知,D选项“一个人在跟风别人之前,应该先独立思考一下”符合作者的观点。故选D。

In some rare cases it might be right to follow the crowd(群众), but in most cases this can be one big mistake. Actually there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow the crowd blindly.

Dear David,
I’m very sorry to hear that a conflict occurred between you and your mother because of your Internet addiction.
In my opinion, you should apologize to your mother. Many students spend most of their time playing computer games or chatting aimlessly with others, which may not only result in poor health and decline in study but also loss of communication in the real world.
As students, we should devote our energy to study. When available, you may as well walk outside with your friends or take some exercise to keep fit instead of playing online games. Only in this way can you live and study happily and healthily.
Yours,
Li Hua

【答案】One day the school teacher called my mom and the truth came out. Mom thanked the teacher for telling her the truth about what happened. Mom and I had a long, calm talk. Mom said she understood my predicament. However, she told me that wanting to fit in and be popular doesn’t mean going out drinking beer, smoking cigarettes and missing school with your so-called friends. A person’s charm comes from one’s own knowledge. My mom believed that I would be an excellent good girl. She told me that always thinking would enable me to find a way out and there were more solutions than difficulties. Later, I broke with my former friends and put all my energy and time into my studies. I finally got excellent grades and was recognized by teachers, parents and friends.
My mom’s voice awakened me from my thoughts, “Have you made your birthday wish yet, sweetie?” “Yes, Mom.” I said. I continued, “I thank my teacher very much for telling you the truth about my performance. Thank you very much for pulling me back when I was confused and degenerated. It was you who gave me hope, support, love and confidence that made me where I am today. I will work harder and do my best in the future. I wish my teachers, parents and friends all health and happiness.”
