B As a freelance (自由职业的) writer, the structure of my workday can often vary wildly. Sometimes, it feels as if I have too much to do — other days, too little. Yet no matter the shape of my 9 to 5, one thing remains constant: emails. About a year ago, I found my email-checking habit had become more distracting than usual. When working on my computer, I found myself nervously checking my phone for unread emails whenever hitting a mental block. Even worse, during lunch or walks, that habit of checking would come with me, making my breaks an extension of the workday. The little red dot on my Gmail app had become a marker of my professional image: the faster I responded, the more I was seen as reliable by my paymasters. By responding to everyone immediately, I convinced myself I could secure more work — after all, I needed to pay my electricity bills. However, speed didn’t always mean quality. I took on too much work, not allowing myself space to reflect on the value of my output. The content machine kept running, and I was busy producing “word salad” onto the internet. After a particularly crazy week of non-stop emailing, I deleted the email app. The difference was immediately noticeable. I began to rest better. Now, my workdays remain unpredictable, but I’ve realized that a lack of structure wouldn’t stop me from setting boundaries for myself. Uninterrupted breaks help me focus when I return to work. Taking a few hours to respond to messages — instead of just minutes — often makes no difference to the sender and allows me to digest requests properly. I am still surviving as a freelancer in a fast-paced industry, but now I can spend my time endlessly checking my phone for Instagram stories instead. 4. How did the email-checking habit affect the author? A It kept him extremely impatient. B. It made him stressful and burdened. C. It changed the structure of his work. D. It caused him serious mental disorder. 5. Why did the author feel the need to respond to emails quickly? A. He wanted to avoid long working hours. B. He sought high pay to cover electricity bills. C. He thought it made him seem more trustworthy. D. He believed multitasking ensured employment. 6. What does the author imply by mentioning “word salad” in paragraph 4? A. His productivity reached its peak. B His work lacked meaningful content. C. He had difficulty working with machines. D. He managed to balance quality and quantity. 7. What does the author learn after deleting the email app? A. Email senders prefer thoughtful replies. B. Social media is more important than email. C. Setting boundaries can improve work efficiency. D. Freelancers should get used to a fast-paced lifestyle. C For some people, October is Octobear. On October 5, Katmai National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska kicked off Fat Bear Week, when fans compare before and after photos of bears to vote for the one they think has gained the most weight before they bed down for the long freezing winter. Bear 747, also known as “Bear Force One”, took the first-place spot with 68,105 votes. It weighed around 1,400 pounds. Fat Bear Week started in 2014. At first it was just Fat Bear Tuesday. Mike Fitz, a former park keeper at Katmai, noticed that live webcams showing the bears generated a lot of online comments, so he let people vote for their favorite fat bear on the Internet. The one-day event attracted 1,700 votes. In 2015, it was extended to a week. Last year, nearly 800,000 people got involved, turning it into a global campaign. The contest serves two main purposes. First, some of America’s national parks are in remote and undeveloped areas, which are difficult or costly to reach. Fat Bear Week brings Alaska’s wilderness to fans’ computer screens. “It’s not limited to the fortunate few who can go to the river anymore,” Fitz said. Second, Fat Bear Week brings attention to the bears and the ecosystems they live in. The 2,200 bears of Katmai are strong for feeding on some of the healthiest salmon (三文鱼) in the world, said Sara Wolman, a former park keeper. Salmon in the Pacific Northwest are suffering from overfishing, dam construction and warming rivers due to climate change. Luckily, Brooks River, which Katmai’s bears like to fish in, has been free from these threats so far. Fat Bear Week has spread like viruses. Fans and creators say it’s because it shows a conservation success story. For one week, people don’t have to focus on climate change or habitat loss. “Maybe things aren’t super great all the time in the world,” said Felicia Jimenez, who is a current Katmai keeper. “But there are some really fat bears in Alaska.” 8. Why did Bear 747 become the winner of Fat Bear Week in southern Alaska? A. It gained the most pounds. B. It was the heaviest. C. It presented the best photos. D. It was the most famous. 9. Why did Mike Fitz extend Fat Bear Tuesday to a week-long event in 2015? A. To reduce the cost of managing the online voting system. B. To attract more tourists to visit Katmai National Park in person. C. To increase public engagement with the bears’ ecological importance. D. To allow bears more time to gain weight to ensure a fairer competition. 10. What can we learn about Katmai’s bears? A. They can only be observed closely during Fat Bear Week. B. Their population has increased due to protective measures. C. They have a stable food source thanks to the well-preserved river. D. They’re the main reason why tourists visit the park throughout the year. 11. Which can be the best title for the text? A. Fat Bear Week: Conservation Is Joyful. B. Brown Bears; Winter Survival Is Crucial. C. Bear 747: A Fat Yet Healthy Champion. D. Katmai’s Bears: A Special Beauty Contest. D The illusion of explanatory depth (IOED) refers to people’s tendency to believe they understand something far better than they actually do. It’s often not until they are asked to explain further that they come face to face with their limited understanding of it. Imagine an alien asks you to describe how a zipper (拉链) functions. You’ve used zippers countless times — on jackets, bags, or shoes. Confidently, you start: “You pull the slider up, and the teeth interlock!” But as the alien goes deeper — “How do the teeth match? What stops them from separating sideways? Why does the slider move smoothly?” — you get stuck. To think that a zipper is such a simple everyday item, and yet you actually know much less than you’ve predicted. This puzzles you greatly. In reality, attempting to unpack details exposes our knowledge as far shallower than imagined — a gap called “explanatory shallowness”. On the whole, IOED leads people to overestimate their understanding of complex issues, driving decisions rooted in emotion rather than reasoned analysis. This cognitive bias (偏见) fuels misplaced confidence in certain causes, often with minimal factual grounding. Studies reveal that individuals with stronger opinions on topics like genetically modified foods frequently possess the least knowledge about them. Similarly, it can also make us less receptive to other political opinions. One study at MIT looked at whether getting people to explain a political policy in detail — thereby exposing the illusion of explanatory depth — would make them more open to changing their bias when later presented with a persuasive argument. They found while participants did rate their understanding lower, they were actually less likely to shift their position, even more committed to their original stand. Recognizing IOED is critical to fighting against the spread of misinformation fueled by overconfidence in shallow knowledge. To avoid it, practice explanatory self-testing: explain ideas clearly before forming strong opinions, identify knowledge gaps, and admit intellectual shortage by acknowledging uncertainty. Prioritize depth over strong beliefs — seek diverse perspectives, avoid jumping to conclusions, and confirm claims. This encourages informed decisions, reduces unnecessary conflicts, and replaces performative expertise with collaborative learning. 12. Why is the example “explaining a zipper to an alien” presented? A. To justify a theory. B. To introduce a topic. C. To draw a comparison. D. To clarify a definition. 13. What does the MIT study suggest? A. Explanation facilitates change in views. B. Reflection deepens people’s understanding. C. Realizing ignorance makes people more biased. D. Unpacking details contributes to strong arguments. 14. What is the author’s advice for breaking IOED? A. Hide your ignorance. B. Question your certainty. C. Avoid further explanation. D. Resist informed decisions. 15. What can be a suitable title for the passage? A. IOED: When Confidence Masks Ignorance B. IOED: You Might Know More Than You think C To Explain or Not to Explain? Think Before Starting D. Simplicity or Complexity? The rocket competition would begin shortly. Every detail mattered, and he was determined not to overlook a single one. The pressure was huge, but Tom was accustomed to being on top. He had never tasted defeat, and he wasn’t about to start now. The other children rarely approached him, and when they did, it felt forced. Tom preferred to keep to himself, confident in his ability to win again. He assembled (组装) his launch platform with great care, sorting through engines, igniters (点火器), and other tools in his toolbox. He checked his rocket again. It was perfect, and when he glanced at the others’ rockets, he found lots of problems immediately. One rocket, however, had the look of a winner. And Tom’s heart sank. A thin boy carried it carefully. “Hi,” a voice interrupted his focus. It was the thin boy, Ed, offering a nervous smile, “Nice rocket.” Tom whispered thanks, eyes on his tools. He asked Ed where he tested his rockets because he had never seen him at the competitions before. Ed said he just practiced alone behind his house. Although Tom felt a bit nervous, he pretended not to care much about the contest. “Good luck,” said Tom, and he continued to concentrate on his own rocket. As Ed lifted his rocket, Tom felt an increasing anxiety. Just then, he noticed a fin on Ed’s rocket had loosened. But Ed hadn’t noticed it. Tom felt a bit sorry but decided not to say anything. Then the competition began. Most rockets gained respectable heights, while a few shot wildly. Tom watched but his mind was filled with thoughts of Ed’s rocket. “Ed Malovich will be our next contestant,” the announcer said. Immediately Ed lifted his rocket and headed to the launch area. Without thinking, Tom shouted “Ed, hold up!” _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tom felt the pain of defeat but also a sense of pride. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 大庆实验中学2025—2026学年度上学期高二年级月考 英语试题 说明:1. 1. A. It kept him extremely impatient. B. His work lacked meaningful content. B 5. C 6. B 7. 根据第二段中“When working on my computer. I found myself nervously checking my phone for unread emails whenever hitting a mental block. Even worse, during lunch or walks, that habit of checking would come with me, making my breaks an extension of the workday.(当我在电脑上工作时。我发现自己一遇到思维障碍就会紧张地查看手机上的未读邮件。更糟糕的是,在午餐或散步时,这种查看的习惯会一直伴随着我,使我的休息时间成为工作日的延伸。)”可知,查看邮件的习惯让作者感到有压力和有负担。故选B。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“The little red dot on my Gmail app had become a marker of my professional image: the faster I responded, the more I was seen as reliable by my paymasters. By responding to everyone immediately, I convinced myself I could secure more work—after all, I needed to pay my electricity bills.(我Gmail应用上的小红点已经成为我职业形象的标志:我回应得越快,我的老板就越认为我可靠。通过立即回复每个人,我确信自己可以找到更多的工作——毕竟,我需要支付电费。)”可知,作者觉得需要快速回复邮件是因为他想维护自己的职业形象。故选C。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“I took on too much work, not allowing myself space to reflect on the value of my output. The content machine kept running, and I was busy producing “word salad” onto the internet.(我承担了过多工作,没给自己留下反思成果价值的空间。内容生产机器不停运转,而我则忙着在互联网上炮制一堆毫无意义的“文字杂烩”。)”可推知,作者用“文字杂烩”暗示自己的工作缺乏有意义的内容。故选B。 【7题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中“Now, my workdays remain unpredictable, but I’ve realized that a lack of structure wouldn’t stop me from setting boundaries for myself. Uninterrupted breaks help me focus when I return to work.(现在,我的工作日仍然是不可预测的,但我已经意识到,缺乏结构不会阻止我为自己设定界限。不受打扰的休息可以帮助我在回去工作时集中注意力。)”可知,作者在删除邮件应用后学到了设定界限可以提高工作效率。故选C。 C For some people, October is Octobear. A 9. C 10. C 11. 根据第一段“On October 5, Katmai National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska kicked off Fat Bear Week, when fans compare before and after photos of bears to vote for the one they think has gained the most weight before they bed down for the long freezing winter. Bear 747, also known as “Bear Force One”, took the first-place spot with 68,105 votes. It weighed around 1,400 pounds. (10月5日,阿拉斯加南部的卡特迈国家公园和自然保护区拉开了“胖熊周”的序幕,粉丝们根据前后对比照片,投票选出他们认为体重增加最多的那只熊。“熊747”,也被称为“熊力一号”,以68105票获得第一名。它重约1400磅)”可知,粉丝们投给他们认为体重增加最多的熊,所以Bear 747获胜是因为它体重增加得最多。故选A。 根据第二段“In 2015, it was extended to a week. Last year, nearly 800,000 people got involved, turning it into a global campaign.(2015年,它被延长为一周。去年,近80万人参与其中,使其成为一项全球运动)”和第四段“Second, Fat Bear Week brings attention to the bears and the ecosystems they live in.(其次,胖熊周让人们关注熊及其生活的生态系统)”可知,迈克·菲茨在2015年将胖熊周二延长为一周的活动是为了提高公众对熊的生态重要性的认识。故选C。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Salmon in the Pacific Northwest are suffering from overfishing, dam construction and warming rivers due to climate change. Luckily, Brooks River, which Katmai’s bears like to fish in, has been free from these threats so far.(太平洋西北部的三文鱼正遭受过度捕捞、水坝建设和气候变化导致的河流变暖的影响。幸运的是,卡特迈的熊喜欢捕鱼的布鲁克斯河到目前为止还没有受到这些威胁)”可知,卡特迈的熊有稳定的食物来源是因为河流得到了很好的保护。故选C。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,并根据第一段“On October 5, Katmai National Park and Preserve in southern Alaska kicked off Fat Bear Week, when fans compare before and after photos of bears to vote for the one they think has gained the most weight before they bed down for the long freezing winter. (10月5日,阿拉斯加南部的卡特迈国家公园和自然保护区拉开了“胖熊周”的序幕,粉丝们根据前后对比照片,投票选出他们认为体重增加最多的那只熊)”和最后一段“Fat Bear Week has spread like viruses. Fans and creators say it’s because it shows a conservation success story. (胖熊周像病毒一样传播开来。粉丝和创作者说,这是因为它展示了一个环保成功的故事)”可知,文章主要介绍了阿拉斯加南部的卡特迈国家公园和自然保护区举行的“胖熊周”活动,它以一种竞技方式让人们关注熊及它们所居住的生态系统。故A项“胖熊周:保护是快乐的”可以作为本文的最佳标题。故选A。 D The illusion of explanatory depth (IOED) refers to people’s tendency to believe they understand something far better than they actually do. C Realizing ignorance makes people more biased. D. Unpacking details contributes to strong arguments. 14. What is the author’s advice for breaking IOED? A. Hide your ignorance. B. Question your certainty. C. Avoid further explanation. D. Resist informed decisions. 15. What can be a suitable title for the passage? A. IOED: When Confidence Masks Ignorance B. IOED: You Might Know More Than You think C. To Explain or Not to Explain? Think Before Starting D. Simplicity or Complexity? Watch Out for the Common 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第二段中“Imagine an alien asks you to describe how a zipper (拉链) functions. You’ve used zippers countless times — on jackets, bags, or shoes. Confidently, you start: ‘You pull the slider up, and the teeth interlock!’ But as the alien goes deeper — ‘How do the teeth match? What stops them from separating sideways? Why does the slider move smoothly?’ — you get stuck. In reality, attempting to unpack details exposes our knowledge as far shallower than imagined — a gap called “explanatory shallowness”.(想象一下,一个外星人让你描述拉链是如何工作的。你在夹克、包或鞋子上无数次使用过拉链。你自信地开始说:“你把拉链往上拉,拉链齿就锁在一起了!”但随着外星人深入提问——“拉链齿是如何匹配的?什么阻止它们向两侧分开?为什么拉链能顺利滑动?”——你被难住了。事实上,试图解开细节暴露了我们的知识比想象的要浅得多——这一差距被称为“解释浅薄”)”可知,作者通过“向外星人解释拉链却无法解释清楚”的例子,是为了进一步解释说明第一段中“The illusion of explanatory depth (IOED) refers to people’s tendency to believe they understand something far better than they actually do. (解释深度错觉(IOED)指的是人们倾向于认为自己比实际更了解某件事)”“IOED指人们高估自己理解深度的认知偏差”这一概念,即“澄清一个定义”。故选D。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“One study at MIT looked at whether getting people to explain a political policy in detail — thereby exposing the illusion of explanatory depth — would make them more open to changing their bias when later presented with a persuasive argument. They found while participants did rate their understanding lower, they were actually less likely to shift their position, even more committed to their original stand. 根据最后一段中“To avoid it, practice explanatory self-testing: explain ideas clearly before forming strong opinions, identify knowledge gaps, and admit intellectual shortage by acknowledging uncertainty. Prioritize depth over strong beliefs — seek diverse perspectives, avoid jumping to conclusions, and confirm claims. This encourages informed decisions, reduces unnecessary conflicts, and replaces performative expertise with collaborative learning. (为了避免这一点,请进行解释性自我测试:在形成坚定观点之前清晰地解释观点,识别知识缺口,并通过承认不确定性来承认知识的不足。优先考虑理解深度而非坚定的信念——寻求多样化的视角,避免仓促下结论,并验证主张。这将促进明智的决策,减少不必要的冲突,并用协作学习取代表面的专业知识)”可推知,作者建议人们质疑自己的确定性来打破解释深度错觉。故选B。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中“The illusion of explanatory depth (IOED) refers to people’s tendency to believe they understand something far better than they actually do. (解释深度错觉(IOED)指的是人们倾向于认为自己比实际更了解某件事)”以及结合全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了解释深度错觉的概念、影响以及如何避免这种错觉,可知,选项A“IOED:当自信掩盖无知时”准确契合主题,最适合作为文章标题。故选A。 Bedtime Rituals At the end of a long day, you might want to collapse in front of the TV and watch an episode of your favorite show. ____16____ Settling down with a cup of lemon tea or reading a book can tell your body it’s time to sleep. If you turn these activities into a ritual— that is, if you do them every night around the same time — you will be all the more likely to get the rest you need. A bedtime ritual is important not only because it prepares you for sleep but also because it helps establish healthy sleep habits. If your current habits don’t support good sleep, a bedtime ritual can help you make necessary changes.____17____ Worry can make it hard to fall asleep at night, but for some people, anxiety at bedtime is common. Rituals can provide comfort by offering predictability and structure. Some rituals, such as journaling, might also relieve anxiety by giving the writer a fresh perspective or sense of meaning. ____18____ Consider trying several bedtime rituals before settling on a consistent routine. What’s important is figuring out what works for you. Start out with two or three activities according to your needs and preferences. If you enjoy exercise and movement, try yoga or gentle stretching. If you find comfort in order, create a to-do list for the next day.____19____ Whether your bedtime ritual takes place in bed or somewhere else, make sure your environment is relaxing. Wear comfortable clothes or pajamas, curl up under a cozy blanket, and keep the lights low.____20____ A. Bedtime rituals can also help you reduce anxiety. B. There’s no fixed format for the perfect bedtime ritual. C. Then when the time comes to fall asleep, you’ll be ready. D. For adults, bedtime rituals typically last 30 minutes to an hour. E. If classical music calms you, turn on some Bach or Mozart enjoying a bath. F. But engaging in some bedtime activities could actually help you sleep better. G. Evidence indicates that people who read a book in bed have better sleep quality. 16. F 17. A 18. B 19. E 20. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Without thinking, Tom shouted “Ed, hold up!” Ed turned around, confused. “Your rocket’s fin is loose,” Tom said, pointing. Ed’s eyes widened as he checked. “I didn’t notice!” he gasped. Tom grabbed his toolbox. “Let me fix it.” Kneeling, he tightened the fin with steady hands. Ed mumbled thanks, voice shaky. “Why?” he asked. Tom stood, avoiding his gaze, and said “A competition’s no sense if it’s not fair.” The announcer called again. Ed nodded, lifting his rocket. “Good luck,” Tom said. Ed smiled. “You too.” Tom felt the pain of defeat but also a sense of pride. Ed’s rocket soared, smooth and steady, winning cheers. Tom’s own launch was flawless, but it was second place. As Ed accepted the trophy, he searched the crowd and waved at Tom. Later, Ed approached. “This is as much yours,” he said, offering the trophy. Tom shook his head. “You earned it.” Ed grinned. “Want to test rockets together sometime?” Tom nodded, surprised by the warmth in his chest. For the first time, winning didn’t feel like everything. Some things, he realized, mattered more. 2.续写线索:喊住Ed——告知问题——帮忙修理——解释原因——竞赛结果——Ed致谢——邀请合作——感悟收获 词汇激活 行为类: ①指出:point/indicate ②修复:fix/repair ③接受:accept/embrace ④提议:offer/propose ⑤意识到:realize/be aware of 情感类: ①困惑的:confused/puzzled ②惊讶:surprised/astonished 【点睛】[高分句型 1].
