I am not very useful at all.”和“Now it’s a tree, so big and tall, Welcoming and giving shade to all.”,这些都是诗歌的典型特征。 故选A。
根据文章中的“A little tree said, ‘I’m too small. I am not very useful at all.’”和“‘I cannot grow,’ the little tree cried. ‘I’m too afraid to try.’”

①Beetles (甲虫) are the most common type (类型) of insect on Earth. There are about 380,000 known species of beetles, and scientists continue to discover more. There are some opinions about why there are so many different beetles, and fossils (化石) provide us with some information. By studying fossils, scientists can learn about ancient species that no longer live today. They have found that beetles don’t die out as often as other animals. This may explain why there are so many types of beetles.
②One reason beetles are so successful is their body design. Most beetles have two pairs of wings. The front pair of wings is hard and thick, like a helmet. These wings don’t help the beetle fly. Instead, they protect the beetle’s back wings and the soft parts of its body from harm.
③Beetles can live in many different environments because they can eat many types of foods. Most beetles eat both plants and animals. Their flexible diets help them stay alive in different environments, even when certain food is hard to find. Beetles can always find something to eat.
④Finally, beetles can move quickly and travel long distances. If their environment changes in harmful ways, they can usually find a better place to live. For example, during the Ice Age, when the Earth’s temperature dropped over a long period, many animal species died out. But beetles lived through that difficult time because they could sense temperature changes and quickly moved to warmer areas.
⑤All of these special qualities make beetles some of the most successful and long-lasting creatures (生物) on Earth. That’s why they are found almost everywhere, from forests to deserts to the coldest places on the planet.
4. What have scientists found by studying fossils?
A. Beetles don’t disappear as often as other animals. B. Beetles are the most common type of insect.
C. There are about 380,000 known species of beetles. D. Beetles can eat many types of foods.
5. What is the main use of a beetle’s front wings?
A. To help it to fly. B. To help it to find food.
C. To protect it from harm. D. To help it move quickly.
6. What is the meaning of the underlined word “flexible”?
A. Easy to find. B. Healthy. C. Strict. D. Able to change.
7. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage?
A. B. C. D.
A 5. C 6. D 7. B

根据第一段“They have found that beetles don’t die out as often as other animals. This may explain why there are so many types of beetles.” 故选A。
根据第二段“The front pair of wings is hard and thick, like a helmet. These wings don’t help the beetle fly. Instead, they protect the beetle’s back wings and the soft parts of its body from harm.”
根据第三段“Most beetles eat both plants and animals. Their flexible diets help them stay alive in different environments, even when certain food is hard to find.”

75-year-old storekeeper Jin Anguang has been selling wall calendars since 1980. His store hides in one of Beijing’s traditional hutongs. Young people hardly visit it. But it certainly means something to the local elderly people.
A simple walk into the 20-square-metre store often leaves visitors in awe (叹为观止), for there is a world of wall calendars. A wide array of wall calendars in different sizes and colours and with different themes (主题) are together on the3-metre-tall walls.
People can find the latest designs for 2025, as well as old ones. Jin has been collecting paper calendars for years, turning the store into something more of a calendar museum. These calendars used to be a must-buy for Chinese families to welcome a new year. People took them home not only to decorate the house, but also to find lucky days for important events easily.
“People didn’t make much money at that time, but still, each family would buy one each year,”Jin said. However, the sales of wall calendars started to drop greatly in the 21st century. Young people have turned to calendars on their phones or computers, leaving the paper ones almost “a thing of the past.”
“Nowadays they hardly sell,” Jin said. “Young people don’t use them. It’s just the elderly. For them, it’s a part of traditional culture.” Among many local elderly people, Jin’s shop is a place they’d stop by at least once a year. Some would even drive a long way to look for some calendars. And it is what stops Jin from closing the store. “I’m very glad to hear them say they would certainly come again, Jin said. “As long as they come, I will stick to it, no matter how many people.”
8. The second paragraph mainly talks about________.
A. why Jin wants to sell calendars B. how to get to the calendar store
C. what the calendar store looks like D. how many calendars Jin has collected
9. Why do young people hardly buy paper calendars?
A. Because the themes of paper calendars are old.
B. Because they have new ways to check dates.
C. Because they don’t need to mark lucky days on calendars.
D. Because they dislike decorating the house with paper calendars.
10. The underlined word “It” in the last paragraph refers to________.
A. the elderly’s visit B. Jin’s good wish
C. Jin’s love for his family D. the meaning of traditional culture
11. Which can be the best title for the passage?
A. A special day for Grandpa Jin B. Differences between old and new calendars
C. Young people’s daily life is changing in China D. An old man keeps the wall calendar store alive
C 9. B 10. A 11. D

根据最后一段“Among many local elderly people, Jin’s shop is a place they’d stop by at least once a year. Some would even drive a long way to look for some calendars. And it is what stops Jin from closing the store.” 故选A。

Have you ever cut your finger on the edge (边缘) of a book page? A small cut on your finger can be painful. It seems that it hurts more than cuts on any other part of your body. However, some kinds of paper, like thin tissue paper or thicker postcards, hardly cause a cut.
A research team led by physicist Kare Jensen carried out a study to find out why some paper can cut fingers more easily. They used a gelatin replica (明胶复制品) of human tissue (组织) and tested different types of paper. They found that a thin piece of paper simply bends (弯曲) without causing any cuts. Thick paper can leave a red mark, but it won’t break the surface. The most treacherous (有潜在危险的) paper is about 65 micrometers thick. This is as thick as the newspaper. This kind of paper can often cut your fingers by accident. Magazine paper follows closely.
Instead of trying to stop paper from cutting the scientists used this idea to make something new. They designed a 3D-printed tool called the Papermachete. When you put a piece of paper inside, it turns into a knife you can use once! This paper knife can cut cucumbers, peppers, and apples easily. The really surprising part is that it can cut through raw chicken! When you’re done, just throw it in the recycling bin. It is good for our planet.
In the future, scientists will find new ways to use paper in everyday life. With further exploration, who knows what other amazing things we can do with paper?
12. What did the research team want to find out?
A. The reasons behind painful paper cuts. B. The different kinds of human pain.
C. The best ways to avoid paper cuts. D. The development of paper.
13. According to the passage, which kind of paper is the MOST likely to cause a cut?
A. Thin tissue paper. B. Magazine paper.
C. Thick postcards. D. The newspaper.
14. What can we know from the third paragraph?
A. When the Papermachete was invented. B. How paper cuts harm people’s health.
C. Why people enjoy using 3D-printed tools. D. How researchers used the cutting power of paper.
15. Which opinion does the writer probably agree with?
A. Only thick paper can cut fingers.
B. Children shouldn’t use knives when cooking.
C. Different types of paper will have different uses.
D. Thin paper is more likely to cut fingers than thick paper.
A 13. D 14. D 15. C

Whether you’re cleaning your room, sweeping the floor, or washing your clothes, you might feel the same way you do after exercising. This got me thinking—why don’t chores (家务活) count as exercise?
___16___ When I asked them if doing chores counts as exercise, they told me that all movement is good for health. ___17___ For example, cleaning your room can raise your heart rate (心率) to the same level as light jogging. With this in mind, trainers say you can totally make the most of your chores as exercise. If you do it right, they can even take the place of your exercise for the day. Here’s what to do.
Instead of just walking down the street to throw the rubbish, try to walk faster or run. When going back, you could climb the stairs instead of taking the lift. ___18___ If you feel tired, remind yourself that you’re making the most of these movements while completing chores. This will encourage you to walk and move faster like you are exercising.
___19___ Ellen Thompson, a personal trainer, says you’ll still need a plan to keep your body moving for a certain amount of time to truly improve your health. So if there aren’t enough chores for you to do to reach your goal, do some more exercise.
A. This way, you turn a simple chore into a quick exercise.

5 What is the main use of a beetle’s front wings?
A. B. C. D.
C
D
Instead of trying to stop paper from cutting, the scientists used this idea to make something new.
15 Which opinion does the writer probably agree with?
A. Only thick paper can cut fingers.
B. Children shouldn’t use knives when cooking.
C. Different types of paper will have different uses.
D. Thin paper is more likely to cut fingers than thick paper.

B. And every little bit of movement helps, including chores.
C. To find out more, I asked some trainers a few questions.
D. Taking exercise while doing chores is a good way for you to save time.
E. However, trainers also agree that chores shouldn’t be your only form (形式) of exercise.
Do you want to do chores as exercise?
