she regularly applied it to the therapy.Together,Dio and Blake sang familiar songs, one word at
a time.Music helped Dio communicate so much better, and helped him recover his confidence.
Months later,Dio was allowed to go back to school.

If the ball goes out of bounds,it's up to the referees to call the violation().But in a
high-level curling(冰壶)match,the stones are somewhat self-policing(自我监管)一thanks to
the red and green lights atop each one
As long as the curler releases the stone before the front of it crosses the first red line-the
"hog line",the lights will stay green, and play will continue. If you see the red lights come on,
that means the curler keeps his/her hand on the handle too long, committing a hog line violation.
The shot is disqualified, and the stone is quickly removed so it doesn't disturb other stones on the
curling sheet.
The detection system, called "Eye on the Hog",dates back to the late 1990s,when
University of Saskatchewan engineering professor Eric Salt suggested that some of his advanced
electrical engineering students invent one for a class project:With his help, they did,and
Canadian engineering company Startco improved their design and brought it to market. The
Canadian Curling Association soon adopted it for official use,and its popularity grew from there.
Basically, there's a magnetic strip()fixed beneath the ice slightly behind the hog line.
Inside the stone is an electrical circuit(),whose current is affected when you're touching the
handle. If you're still touching the handle when the stone crosses the in-ice magnet,it'll set off
the battery-operated red lights.Release the handle before the stone reaches the magnet and the
green lights will flash until the stone gets there. At that moment, the flashing will switch to a
steady green to indicate that the release is qualified.
This system also explains why the player releasing the stone doesn't wear a glove on their
delivery hand:They're not allowed to,since gloves are banned access to the touch sensor.
Due to the high capacity of Olympic curlers, hog line violations aren't common in Olympic
curling matches-so you don't often get to see the red lights in action.
28.What does committing the hog line violation mean?
A.The curler crosses the first red line.B.The curler loses control of the handle
C.The curler doesn't release the stone in time.D.The curler touches a red light on the stone.
29.What does the third paragraph focus on concerning "Eye on the Hog"?
A.Its popularity.B.Its origin.C.Its initial users.D.Its key functions.
30.What's the function of the in-ice magnet strip?
A.To locate the hog line.
B.To test the power of batteries.
C.To sense the in-stone electric current.D.To control the progress of the game.
31.Why are the red lights seldom seen flashing in Olympic curling matches?
A.The players wear special gloves.
B.The players are forbidden to touch them
C.The detection system mostly has low sensitivity
D.The players are too expert to commit the violation.

The Olympics are entering a new age, with artificial intelligence set to reshape every
respect of the Games.32 Here's how:
Perfecting talent
Every four years, countries pour millions into identifying and training the best athletes in
hopes of gaining more medals than their competitors.33 With increasing wearable
technology accessible to more youth athletes, the previous problem of not having enough data is
rapidly going away.Training plans are also totally changed by Al,with more automatic training
equipment put into application.
Judging upgrades
34 Machine judging is perhaps the most visible in professional baseball, where
machines measure athletes'performance instantly to contribute to fair judgement.Garrett Beaty,
a sports performance expert, predicts AI judging will outperform humans within 5-10 years.
After all,AI technology ensures decisions are emotion-free and fact-based.
35
Organizing the Olympics is a demanding task. One of the biggest difficulties is that host
cities have to sort out a wide range of information to prepare for such a big event.Over the
seven-year cycle, cities are expected to build up a small army of committee members who
organize the competitions, stadiums, transportation, communication and so on.AI might help
analyse data and address problems, reducing the preparation efforts.
As AI continues to change daily life,we may see these advances of the Olympics. With the
2028 Los Angeles Olympics approaching,AI is likely to be the game changer.36
A.Improving equipment performance.
B.Now,AI is bringing much convenience.
C.Simplifying the process of preparation
D.AI can predict athletes'injuries, allowing early medical treatment.
E.Its application will definitely make the Games more smooth and successful
F.From athlete training to event management,AI promises to bring significant changes.
G.Human judges suffer from tiredness and previous opinions, while AI offers faimess.

avoid.I had always been the type to shy away from group activities, preferring the company of
my books and thoughts.
Our class monitor,Sarah, noticed my unwillingness. She was the very image of enthusiasm
and leadership, always trying to bring the class together. One day,she approached me during
lunch."Why don't you join us for the relay race? It'll be fun,"she said with a warm smile.I
hesitated, but her persistence was hard to ignore.
The next day,Sarah organized a practice session.I unwillingly joined, feeling out of place
among my more athletic classmates. As we ran,I tripped and fell, scraping ()my knee
Embarrassed,I wanted to quit, but Sarah was there in an instant, offering a hand and words of

Student Volunteers Bring Joy to City Nursing Home
To bring joy and companionship to the elderly, our school organized a volunteer trip to a local nursing home last weekend.
The visit featured warm interactions. Upon arrival, students chatted cheerfully with the residents and helped them with daily tasks such as how to use mobile phones. The highlight was a dumpling-making session around noon, which was alive with laughter. After lunch they amused themselves with art activities including Chinese painting and calligraphy.
The event was a great success. The elderly residents expressed deep appreciation for students’ companionship, while the students found the experience equally rewarding. Touched by the warm connections, students promised to make these visits a regular tradition.(118字)
73. 第二节(满分25分)
【答案】One possible version:
The day I looked forward to came eventually. The air buzzed with cheers as our relay team stepped onto the track. I was seized by tension and unease, my palms sweating constantly. Sarah patted me on my shoulders, giving me encouragement with an inspiring look. A sense of determination crowding in, I raised my head confidently. When the whistle blew, I dashed like an arrow. But my competitors ran rather fast. My teammates’ shouts urged me forward. What made me frustrated was that I didn’t catch up with them. I was the last one to hand over the baton.
Our opponent winning narrowly, I blamed our failure on myself. “If I’d run faster, we could have won.” I murmured, burying my head, with tears of guilt rolling down my checks. Approaching me. Sara said firmly, “We all gave our best!” The team gathered around, echoing her words. So warm was I that I felt incredibly comforted. Later, we shared snacks under a tree, encouraging each other to do it better next year. We were overwhelmed with joy, broad smiles lighting up our faces. It was then that I realized victory wasn’t just about medals; it was the courage to try and the bonds we’d built. Sports Day had taught me to cherish both.
