A
Aubree recently noticed her grandmother’s difficulty opening a bottle cap. Aubree wanted to help. She found a method in her engineering class at Carson Middle School. The goal of the class was to solve problems. In the class, students had to change existing products to make daily life easier for people with challenges.
To help her grandmother solve the problem, Aubree explored existing bottle openers and then created her own. For the improved bottle opener design, she used a piece of wood shaped like a cellphone. Next, she put three holes in it. The holes were of different sizes so that they could match common bottle cap sizes. With a simple twist, her grandmother could open bottles without help.
Students like Aubree used math, physics and tool skills to help people with challenges. They also learned about empathy. “Empathy is looking at problems from another person’s point of view,” Aubree’s teacher, Mark Bolt said. “It is of great value for engineering. You have to put yourself in the product users’ shoes to build effective solutions.”
Other students in the class also applied empathy as they watched people around them struggle with daily tasks. Then they used their projects to find methods. Roman’s grandfather had trouble holding a coffee cup because of his arthritis (关节炎). So Roman made a 3D-printed finger which helped his grandfather firmly support the bottom of the cup.
The class tried different ways to improve their products. Rather than giving step-by-step directions for creating their projects, Mark Bolt preferred to leave students’ creative paths open. “If we want to do better, we have to have a chance to fail,” he said.

【答案】例文
Hello everyone, I’m Li Hua. It’s my honor to talk about my understanding of sharing at this school sharing session and share one of my personal experiences.
What I really believe is that sharing is more than just an action; it is a basic quality that makes human relationships better.
One experience that greatly changed my view occurred last term when I shared my worries about the coming exams with my classmate Zhang Wei, who always offered encouragement. His useful advice and kind listening immediately made my stress less.
It is through such exchanges that we discover sharing isn’t just giving; it’s connecting, understanding, and growing collectively. Only by sharing openly can we build a strong team spirit that shows our best sides. Let’s embrace sharing warmly.

Orchids (兰花) are a large family of flowering plants. A book introducing the city’s 96 species (物种) of wild orchids was published by Shenzhen Orchid Conservation and Research Centre at the beginning of 2021. The researchers in the centre spent two years finishing and publishing the book.
Shenzhen started recording species of wild orchids in 1983. Information and pictures of the 96 species discovered in the city were all included in the book. Several of the valuable pictures were provided by local plant lovers.
Chen Jianbing, director of the city’s orchid conservation and research centre, said that the book reflects the situation of wild orchids to some degree in the region. He said the book was a good example of the city’s improvement in environmental protection, adding that it was important for protecting and researching wild orchids.
Orchids are of high value for medicine, food and decoration. The plants are considered as the “panda of the plant field” in China but illegal harvesting and pollution to the environment in recent years have influenced the growth of wild orchids.
There are orchids growing in greenhouses and orchids growing in the wild. The former look the same in size and appearance but the latter are much cheaper. For most people, they prefer to buy more affordable ones. However, it’s illegal to sell or buy wild orchids.
By publishing the book, the centre plans to improve the protection of orchids and spread the knowledge of the flowers to people so as to encourage them to pay more attention to wild orchids.
