As I stood there, I suddenly realized my suitcase was still at home. I called my wife, and she promised to bring my bag on the next flight. The airport worker said that it would arrive at Utah's hotel by evening. But when I checked in late that night, nothing waited. I called Delta Airlines. Peter, a baggage worker, said the flight was canceled. "It'll reach your hotel by 9 tomorrow morning, ” he promised. At 9 a. m. , I called Delta again, voice shaking, "Where's my bag? ” Peter asked calmly, "Can you make it through today? ” "But I have nothing! ” I wanted to scream. Instead, I washed my shirt in the washbowl, hung it near the heater, and hoped it would dry by morning. By noon, I'd given up. A man handed me socks and a shirt. "Traveling light? ” he smiled. I nodded, shy. Later, Delta's office said, "No record of baggage without a ticket number. ” Peter phoned back the next morning. "I believe you, ” he said, "but truth needs proof. ” His words were kind but unhelpful. Days passed. Peter's advice to "focus on today” kept me going. I borrowed a toothbrush, saved my only underwear, and laughed when I thought my suitcase was lying in New York. "That's too long a way from LaGuardia Airport, ” Peter joked during our fifth call. "Who knows why? ” I laughed, though my heart ached. A week later, Delta called, "Your suitcase's been in New York—trapped at LaGuardia. ” At Salt Lake Airport in Utah, I spotted my dusty bag on the conveyor belt (传送带) . "Could I call you again? ” I asked Peter. "As long as you fly Delta, ” he laughed quietly. I hugged the suitcase, laughing, though my heart still ached. Back home, I unpacked. Everything was there—even the book I'd forgotten. But the next trip, I chose to pack less—just one shirt and socks. Freedom, I learned, is about letting go. 4. What did the writer do when his suitcase did not arrive at the hotel? A. He washed his shirt in the bathroom. B. He borrowed a toothbrush from Peter. C. He called Delta Airlines to cancel his trip. D. He asked his wife to send it immediately. 5. Where did the writer finally take back his suitcase? A. At the writer's home. B. In the Delta Airlines office. C. On the conveyor belt in Utah. D. At LaGuardia Airport in New York. 6. What does the underlined phrase "Traveling light” probably mean in the passage? A. Traveling during the day. B. Traveling for relaxation. C. Traveling without baggage. D. Traveling with only necessary things. 7. What is the lesson the writer learned from his experience? A. Patience helps solve difficulties. B. Losing bags is a common problem. C. Airline workers can't help with problems. D. Traveling with fewer things makes you feel free. 【答案】4. A 5. C 6. D 7. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。本文讲述作者在旅行中丢失行李箱,历经一周与达美航空工作人员沟通、克服不便,最终找回行李,并从中领悟“轻装出行即自由”的故事。 【4题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Instead, I washed my shirt in the washbowl, hung it near the heater, and hoped it would dry by morning.( 相反,我在洗脸盆里洗了衬衫,把它挂在加热器附近,希望它能在早上变干。)”可知,当作者的手提箱没有到达旅馆时,作者在浴室洗了衬衫。故选A项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段中“At Salt Lake Airport in Utah, I spotted my dusty bag on the conveyor belt (传送带) .( 在犹他州的盐湖城机场,我在传送带上发现了我那满是灰尘的包。)”可知,作者行李箱最终在犹他州盐湖机场的传送带上找到。故选C项。 【6题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第一段中“As I stood there, I suddenly realized my suitcase was still at home.( 我站在那里,突然意识到我的手提箱还在家里。)”以及第三段中“By noon, I’d given up. A man handed me socks and a shirt. “Traveling light? ” he smiled. I nodded, shy.( 到了中午,我就放弃了。一个男人递给我袜子和衬衫。“Traveling light??”他笑着说。我害羞地点了点头。)”由此可知,作者行李箱没到,别人看到他只有少量衣物,别人问他“Traveling light?”,意思是“轻装旅行”,结合D选项Traveling with only necessary things.“只带必要的东西旅行”意思相近。故选D项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“But the next trip, I chose to pack less—just one shirt and socks. Freedom, I learned, is about letting go.( 但在下一次旅行中,我选择少带一些东西——只带了一件衬衫和袜子。我明白了,自由就是放手。)”可推知,作者从他的经历中学到了带更少的东西旅行会让你感觉更自由。故选D项。 C Considering that you can’t even catch it, the idea of collecting fog might seem impossible. However, it’s already happening in parts of the world, and experts have now said that collecting much fog could be a helpful way of providing water to places that really need it. Fog, which is just a cloud that has appeared near the Earth’s surface, is made up of small water drops. It is collected by putting up wire netting (金属丝网) between poles (支柱) . When the fog goes through the netting, water drops appear. The water moves down to a collecting pipe and into storage tanks (储水罐) . To learn more about fog collection, experts studied Alto Hospicio, a city in the Atacama Desert, Chile. There’s very little rain there, and not many people can easily get water. Most local people depend on trucks to bring it. However, fog often appears in the mountains around Alt o Hospicio — and the experts thought they could use it. Experts checked how much fog they collected. They then put the data (数据) together with weather forecasts (天气预报) to find out how much fog collection Alt o Hospicio would need to meet its water needs. They worked out that 17,000 square metres of netting would give the 300, 000 litres of water that is brought to the city’s poorest areas each week. They also found that another 110 square metres would be enough to water the city’s green spaces. The experts say that, for fog collection to work well, there needs to be a way of keeping and sharing large amounts of water. They hope their work will make others research fog collection as a way of giving water to areas with similar conditions to Alto Hospicio. Dr Virginia Carter Gamberini, the main expert on the study, and her team are now making a “fog collecting map” for the whole of Chile to find the best areas for the technology. 8. How does fog collection work according to the text? A. By using collecting pipes to bring in fog. B. By using plastic bags to collect rainwater. C. By using storage tanks to get in rainwater. D. By using wire netting to catch water drops. 9. Which statement is true according to the text? A. 17,000 square metres of netting gives 110 litres of water. B. 110 square metres of netting gives 17,000 litres of water. C. 110 square metres of netting gives 300,000 litres of water. D. 17,000 square metres of netting gives 300,000 litres of water. 10. Where is the text most probably taken from? A. A travel guide. B. A book review. C. A science magazine. D. A government report. 11. Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A. Problems of Fog Collection in Chile B. New Ways of Water Storage in Tanks C. Fog Collection for Water in Dry Areas D. The Study of Fog in the Atacama Desert 【答案】8. D 9. D 10. C 11. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了在世界上一些地区,收集雾气作为提供水源的一种有用方式,专家以智利阿塔卡马沙漠的阿尔托奥斯皮西奥市为例进行研究,并计划绘制智利“集雾地图”寻找最佳区域。 8题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Fog, which is just a cloud that has appeared near the Earth’s surface, is made up of small water drops. It is collected by putting up wire netting (金属丝网) between poles (支柱) . When the fog goes through the netting, water drops appear. (雾是出现在地球表面附近的云,由小水滴组成。它通过在支柱之间架设金属丝网来收集。当雾穿过网时,就会出现水滴。)”可知,集雾是通过使用金属丝网捕捉水滴。故选D。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“They worked out that 17,000 square metres of netting would give the 300, 000 litres of water that is brought to the city’s poorest areas each week. (他们计算出,17000平方米的网可以提供每周运往该市最贫困地区的30万升水。)”可知,17000平方米的网可以提供30万升水。故选D。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段“However, it’s already happening in parts of the world, and experts have now said that collecting much fog could be a helpful way of providing water to places that really need it. (然而,这在世界部分地区已经发生了,专家现在表示,收集大量雾气可能是为真正需要水的地方提供水源的一种有用方式。)”可知,本文主要介绍了收集雾气作为提供水源的一种有用方式,属于科学范畴,所以最有可能来自科学杂志。故选C。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段“However, it’s already happening in parts of the world, and experts have now said that collecting much fog could be a helpful way of providing water to places that really need it. (然而,这在世界部分地区已经发生了,专家现在表示,收集大量雾气可能是为真正需要水的地方提供水源的一种有用方式。)”可知,本文主要介绍了收集雾气作为提供水源的一种有用方式,所以C项“Fog Collection for Water in Dry Areas (干旱地区收集雾气取水)”最符合文章主旨。故选C。 D Life is always changing — sometimes great, other times worrying and stressful. There are lots of benefits in accepting the unexpected and simple things you can do to make it easier to deal with life changes. There can be lots of new things that happen in your life. Some can be really positive things that you make happen yourself, like joining a club or making a new friend. However, some changes you face could make you feel worried or uncertain. They can be big things like moving schools, a friend going away or family life changing because of parents separating. They can be smaller ones like new schedules at home due to parents’ or carers’ working habits or a teacher you don’t know taking over your class. All of these things can bring up some pretty big feelings — and that’s OK. Why can it be hard to deal with? Change can be difficult because it often brings feelings of uncertainty. Emily Hanlon is a child psychologist (someone who studies how children think, feel and behave) who explains, “Our brains like habits and usual actions. They help us feel safe. When something changes, like starting a new school or moving to a new home, it can feel like entering a new place. It is like going on a surprise adventure with no map. This can make us feel nervous or afraid because we don’t know what will come next.” Change can also be hard if you don’t feel quite ready for it, or that you are not in control of whatever is happening. Can change be a good thing? Yes — life would be very boring if everything stayed the same all the time. Trying new things and making changes helps you find what you like and dislike. For example, if you didn’t taste that new kind of ice cream, how would you know you love it? It also helps you grow and learn skills. Hanlon says, “While change can feel frightening, it often brings new adventures, new friends, and new special abilities — well, maybe not great strengths, but surely the abilities to get back confidence and grow stronger.” 12. Which of the following is a small life change that may disturb you? A. A friend going away. B. You moving to a new school. C. Your parents divorcing. D. A new teacher taking over your class. 13. According to Emily Hanlon, a “surprise adventure with no map” is used ______. A. to suggest ways to avoid changes B. to compare changes to surprise adventures C. to explain why change feels difficult D. to describe how habits make us safe 14. What is the main idea of the last paragraph? A. Change helps you become better. B. Change makes life feel boring and stressful. C. Change makes life full of new adventures. D. Change helps you avoid new experiences. 15. Which of the following best matches the writer’s opinion? A. A child practices erhu daily and wins the competition. B. A teenager tries a new hobby and loves it. C. A student worries about making new friends. D. A kid refuses to accept his step-father. 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. A 15. B 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章指出生活总有变化,既有大小之分也会引发不同情绪,其难应对源于不确定性与失控感,但变化亦有好处,能让人发现喜好、成长并变得更强大。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“They can be big things like moving schools, a friend going away or family life changing because of parents separating. They can be smaller ones like new schedules at home due to parents’ or carers’ working habits or a teacher you don’t know taking over your class. (它们可能是大事,比如转校、朋友离开或由于父母分居而改变家庭生活。它们可以是较小的,比如由于父母或照顾者的工作习惯而导致的家庭新时间表,或者你不认识的老师接管了你的班级。)”可知,文中明确区分大小变化,小变化包括“因父母工作习惯导致的家庭新日程,或不认识的老师接手你的班级”,D 项“一位新老师接管了你的班级”符合小变化的描述。故选D项。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“Emily Hanlon is a child psychologist (someone who studies how children think, feel and behave) who explains, “Our brains like habits and usual actions. 根据最后一段“Can change be a good thing? Yes — life would be very boring if everything stayed the same all the time. Trying new things and making changes helps you find what you like and dislike. For example, if you didn’t taste that new kind of ice cream, how would you know you love it? It also helps you grow and learn skills. Hanlon says, “While change can feel frightening, it often brings new adventures, new friends, and new special abilities — well, maybe not great strengths, but surely the abilities to get back confidence and grow stronger.” 故选A项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章大意尤其是第一段“Life is always changing — sometimes great, other times worrying and stressful. There are lots of benefits in accepting the unexpected and simple things you can do to make it easier to deal with life changes. How to Advertise School Clubs Are you starting a new club and need more members? By noon I'd given up. 4. C Considering that you can’t even catch it, the idea of collecting fog might seem impossible. A By using collecting pipes to bring in fog. B. By using plastic bags to collect rainwater. C. By using storage tanks to get in rainwater. D. By using wire netting to catch water drops. 9 Which statement is true according to the text? The Study of Fog in the Atacama Desert D Life is always changing — sometimes great, other times worrying and stressful. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2. 5分,满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to Advertise School Clubs Are you starting a new club and need more members?
