B Smart watches have exploded in popularity in recent years and companies have been marketing these devices less as luxury products and more as essential medical devices necessities for anyone concerned about health. But do smart watches, which constantly monitor our vital signs, really lead us to better health? One recent study found that people trying to lose weight who used wearable technology to help actually lost less weight than those watch-free people. I also worry that smart watches can disturb our ability to know our own bodies. “It’s an extension of our digital culture.” said coach Brad Stulberg. “Our culture promotes the limiting belief that measurable achievement is the dominant arbiter (仲裁者) of success, and these devices play right into that,” he told me. “It’s like you’re trying to win at a game instead of living your life. Instead of learning what your body feels like, you have a number.” What he said was true of me. Sometimes I would wake up in the morning and check my smart watch to see how I slept-instead of just taking a moment to notice that I was still tired. I started to feel that my health wasn’t grounded in my own body anymore, or even in my mind. I didn’t know how my workout had gone until I opened the watch. I had been using the numbers it offered as a shortcut to feeling good enough in general. Of course these watches can be useful: for health data, reminding you to move more. But if you’re thinking of a break from the numbers, I propose a challenge for the year ahead: try getting your feedback from your body instead of a device. That’s what I did. At some point in the pandemic (疫病), I took off my watch. It left a white line on my wrist where it had spent years blocking the sun. Then I lost it and never bothered to find it. 4. What do companies prefer to advertise their smart watches as? A. Must-have items. B. High-end products. C Life-saving devices. D. Cutting-edge monitors. 5. What does Brad Stulberg probably think of smart watches? A. They can monitor our vital signs. B. They disconnect us from our bodies. C. They represent the great digital culture. D. They can measure the success of a workout. 6. Why didn’t the author look for his smart watch? A. Because he didn’t feel himself. B. Because the pandemic stopped him. C. Because he wanted less reliance on it. D. Because there was no hope of finding it. 7. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To advertise wearable smart watches. B. To report the findings of a recent study C. To suggest a break from smart devices. D. To discuss limitations of digital culture. C We all pursue an ideal weight number for health and confidence, often using childhood memories, online calculators or BMI charts. However, Dr, Yoni Freedhoff warns these methods fail to consider individual differences. Our bodies change dramatically with age due to metabolism (新陈代谢) and lifestyle. For decades, Body Mass Index (BMI) dominated weight assessments. This simple height-weight calculation sorts people from underweight to overweight. Yet Dr. Melanie Jay from NYU points out its problems: BMI gives the same ranges for 20-year-old athletes and 70-year-old grandparents. It ignores muscle mass, bone density, and health conditions, sometimes regarding fit individuals as overweight. Recent studies show that nearly 30% of people classified as overweight by BMI actually have healthy body fat percentages and normal metabolic profiles. Newer metrics like the Body Roundness Index (BRI) focus on waist size instead of weight. “Belly fat is more dangerous than overall weight,” says D. Jay. Research indicates fat around organs produces harmful chemicals linked to diabetes and heart disease. However, even BRI has limitations — it can’t distinguish between fat types or account for medical conditions affecting belly size, such as digestive disorders. Doctors increasingly emphasize overall health markers over specific weights, “Instead of focusing on a ‘magic number,’ we examine blood pressure, cholesterol (胆固醇), sleep quality and energy levels,” notes Dr. Jay. For those with weight-related conditions, even 5-10% weight loss can significantly improve health. A 2023 study found patients who achieved modest weight reduction showed better health markers than those pursuing extreme weight loss. The healthiest weight, experts agree, isn’t found on charts but through sustainable habits, “When you eat nutritiously and stay active, your body finds its natural healthy weight,” advises Dr. Freedhoff. For some, medications or surgery may help, but the real goal is lifestyle change — not to achieve an ideal number on your scale. True health, after all, is measured not by a momentary reading on a scale, but by the daily choices that nourish both body and life. 8. What does the second paragraph mainly talk about? A. The limitations of BMI. B. The standards of weight measurement. C. The classification of health conditions. D. The health assessment of overweight people. 9. What is the main advantage of BRI? A It clarifies different kinds of fat. B. It evaluates all types of body fat. C. It measures highly risky body fat. D. It identifies harmful chemicals in fat. 10. What is Dr. Jay’s suggestion for weight assessment? A. Stopping using BMI. B. Focusing on specific weights. C. Considering multiple health signs. D. Adopting rapid weight loss approaches. 11. What does the author think of people’s pursuing an ideal weight number? A. Reasonable. B. Practical. C. Dangerous. D. Unnecessary. D Light pollution has increased by about 10 percent each year over the past decade. Researchers based at the Chinese Academy of Sciences were curious about how light might affect relationships between insects and plants. They noticed that tree leaves in cities typically showed fewer signs of insect damage than those outside of cities, so they analyzed leaf samples from trees throughout Beijing. Focusing on two common street trees — the Japanese pagoda and green ash tree — at 30 sites spaced apart along main roads lit at night, the researchers measured brightness and collected leaves. They evaluated almost 5,500 leaves for size, toughness, and levels of nutrients and chemicals, and analyzed them for signs of insect activity. Examining leaf features can tell scientists a lot about how that plant is using resources. Plants grow differently depending on factors in their environment, and they distribute their limited resources among various functions like growth, reproduction, and defense. For both species of trees the researchers studied, more artificial light meant tougher leaves. And the tougher the leaf, the less evidence of hungry insects. In areas with the most intense light, leaves were more likely to have no signs of insect predation (捕食). “This research needs to be expanded to other plant species,” said Shuang Zhang, biologist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. “If artificial light at night also makes the leaves of other species tougher, this would be bad news for insects.” Changes in plants, and in interactions between plants and animals, can significantly impact the entire urban ecosystem. A poor diet might cause plant-eating insects to die off, resulting in fewer insects that prey on those plant-eating insects, and fewer insect-eating birds, and so on up the food chain. Beyond forming a crucial link in the food web, plant-eating insects sometimes pollinate (授粉) flowers and contribute to biodiversity. The study found a linear relationship between brightness at night and how much leaves were eaten by insects, so just reducing light intensity could make leaves more appealing to insects. To minimize the negative impacts of light at night, Zhang recommends simply reducing light intensity. We should focus on lighting only what and when it is needed. Motion sensors could also help, as could covers for streetlights, so light doesn’t spill into surrounding areas. 12. What drew the researchers’ attention to tree leaves in cities? A. They grew faster with light on. B. They took on different shapes. C. They showed no signs of diseases. D. They were less damaged by insects. 13. What is Shuang Zhang’s concern according to paragraph 4? A. Insects will adapt to tougher leaves quickly. B. Tougher leaves could affect the urban ecosystem. C. Plants will stop growing in areas with intense light. D. Artificial light may change how plants use resources. 14. What does the underlined word “linear” in the last paragraph mean? A. Complex. B. Direct. C. Natural. D. Positive 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Little Insects Make a Big Difference. B. Less Light Pollution Makes for a Better City. C. Artificial Lights: The Root Cause of Insect Extinction. D. Streetlights Influence Nature: From Leaves to Insects. Creative writing has no written formula (公式) and no strict laws. _____16_____ Therefore, we have more freedom to express ideas, thoughts and imagination in creative writing. Since her mother passed away five years ago, he had shouldered the responsibility of raising her alone, working double shifts (班次) as a taxi driver to support his family. Their small apartment was always filled with an unspoken tension — the kind that comes from two people living together but never truly connecting, except that, each night, he’d leave a glass of warm milk on her desk with his usual “Don’t stay up too late.” One Saturday, while cleaning the store room, Lena came across an old shoebox. Driven by curiosity, she took it out and couldn’t wait to find out what was inside. When she opened it, a scent of old paper greeted her. Inside were many black-and-white photos from before she was born. One photo caught her eye — her young father kneeling in a sunny field, smiling happily as he took pictures with a camera. He looked so different from the tired man she knew now. That evening, as they sat across from each other at their usual silent dinner, Lena gathered her courage. “Dad,” she began hesitantly, “I found some old photos today...”, Her father’s fork froze mid-air. He quickly looked at her, then away. “That was a lifetime ago,” he murmured, pushing his food around his plate. After a brief silence, he added quietly, “Had to sell that camera when you started middle school,” The way his voice cracked on the last word made Lena's heart ache. The next day, she searched online and found Thompson’s Vintage Camera Shop — a family-owned store just three blocks from her school. Mr. Thompson, a kind-eyed man in his sixties, had a similar camera her father once owned. When she explained her situation, his face softened, “How about this?” he said, “You help me around the shop after school for a month and the camera is yours. 注意:(1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 For a month, Lena raced between school, homework, and the camera shop. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On Father’s Day, Lena woke up early to prepare her surprise. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 常德市一中2025年下学期高二年级第一次月水平检测试卷 英 语 第一部分 听力 (共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。录音内容结束后,你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。 第一节 (共5小题; 每小题1.5分, 满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍。 例: How much is the shirt?. C. Life-saving devices. 【答案】4. A 5. B 6. C 7. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。文章主要讨论了智能手表在健康监测方面的作用及其可能带来的问题,作者通过个人经历和观察,对智能手表的普及及其对人体健康感知的影响进行了分析和反思,并提出了挑战和建议。 【4题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第一段“Smart watches have exploded in popularity in recent years and companies have been marketing these devices less as luxury products and more as essential medical devices necessities for anyone concerned about health.(近年来,智能手表大受欢迎,各公司在推广这类设备时,不再将其过多定位为奢侈品,而是更倾向于把它们当作任何关注健康的人必备的医疗设备。)”可知,公司在营销这些设备时,不再过多将其作为奢侈品,而是更多地作为任何关注健康的人必备的医疗设备必需品。故选A。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段Brad Stulberg 多说的话““It’s like you’re trying to win at a game instead of living your life. Instead of learning what your body feels like, you have a number.”(“这就好比你不是在过自己的生活,而是在试图赢得一场游戏。你不去了解自己身体的感受,取而代之的是一个数字。”)”可知,他认为使用智能手表就像在玩游戏而不是在生活,人们不再去了解自己身体的感受,取而代之的是一个数字。也就是说他认为智能手表切断了我们与自身身体感受的联系。故选B。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第三段“Sometimes I would wake up in the morning and check my smart watch to see how I slept-instead of just taking a moment to notice that I was still tired. I started to feel that my health wasn’t grounded in my own body anymore, or even in my mind. I didn’t know how my workout had gone until I opened the watch.(有时我早上醒来,会查看智能手表,看看自己的睡眠情况,而不是花点时间去感受自己是否仍感到疲惫。我开始觉得自己的健康状况不再取决于我自身的身体,甚至也不取决于我的意识。在打开手表之前,我不知道自己的锻炼效果如何。)”可知,作者意识到自己过度依赖智能手表数据,影响自己对身体的感知。再根据第四段“But if you’re thinking of a break from the numbers, I propose a challenge for the year ahead: try getting your feedback from your body instead of a device.(但如果你想暂时摆脱这些数字,我提议在未来一年迎接一个挑战:尝试从自己的身体而非设备中获取反馈。)”可推测,作者摘下手表并弄丢后不再寻找,正是因为他想要减少对智能手表的依赖。故选C。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章内容可知,文章开篇提出智能手表是否真能带来健康的疑问,接着通过研究、他人观点及自身经历阐述智能手表存在的问题,如干扰对自身身体的感知等。然后文章第四段“But if you’re thinking of a break from the numbers, I propose a challenge for the year ahead: try getting your feedback from your body instead of a device.(但如果你想暂时摆脱这些数字,我提议在未来一年迎接一个挑战:尝试从自己的身体而非设备中获取反馈。)”则明确建议人们摆脱智能设备的数据,从身体自身获取反馈。故选C。 C We all pursue an ideal weight number for health and confidence, often using childhood memories, online calculators or BMI charts. A. It clarifies different kinds of fat. 【答案】8. A 9. C 10. C 11. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了体重评估方法的局限性及专家对健康体重的新观点。 【8题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段中“Yet Dr. Melanie Jay from NYU points out its problems: BMI gives the same ranges for 20-year-old athletes and 70-year-old grandparents. It ignores muscle mass, bone density, and health conditions, sometimes regarding fit individuals as overweight. (然而,纽约大学的梅兰妮·杰伊博士指出了它的问题:BMI对20岁的运动员和70岁的祖父母给出的范围是一样的。它忽略了肌肉质量、骨密度和健康状况,有时会把健康的人视为超重)”可知,第二段主要讲了BMI的局限性。故选A。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Newer metrics like the Body Roundness Index (BRI) focus on waist size instead of weight. “Belly fat is more dangerous than overall weight,” says Dr. Jay. Research indicates fat around organs produces harmful chemicals linked to diabetes and heart disease. (Body Roundness Index(BRI)等较新的指标关注的是腰围,而不是体重。“腹部脂肪比总体重更危险,”Jay博士说。研究表明,器官周围的脂肪会产生与糖尿病和心脏病相关的有害化学物质)”可知,BRI的主要优势是它测量的是高风险的脂肪。故选C。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“Doctors increasingly emphasize overall health markers over specific weights, “Instead of focusing on a ‘magic number,’ we examine blood pressure, cholesterol (胆固醇), sleep quality and energy levels,” notes Dr. Jay. (医生们越来越强调关注整体健康指标,而非特定体重。“我们不再关注‘神奇数字’,而是检查血压、胆固醇、睡眠质量和能量水平,”Jay博士指出)”可知,杰伊博士对体重评估的建议是考虑多种健康指标。故选C。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“The healthiest weight, experts agree, isn’t found on charts but through sustainable habits, “When you eat nutritiously and stay active, your body finds its natural healthy weight,” advises Dr. Freedhoff. (专家们一致认为,最健康的体重不是通过图表找到的,而是通过可持续的习惯找到的。Freedhoff博士建议:“当你吃得有营养,保持活跃时,你的身体会找到自然的健康体重。”)”以及“True health, after all, is measured not by a momentary reading on a scale, but by the daily choices that nourish both body and life. (毕竟,真正的健康不是用秤上的瞬间读数来衡量的,而是用滋养身体和生活的日常选择来衡量的)”可推知,作者认为人们追求理想体重数字是不必要的。故选D。 D Light pollution has increased by about 10 percent each year over the past decade. 【答案】12. D 13. B 14. B 15. While##Although##Though 40. has 41. an 42. partly 43. was broadcast 44. as 45. attracting 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 分析句子可知,“wait for sb./sth. to do sth.”是固定结构,意为“等待某人/某物做某事”。此处“wait for the tea to boil”(等待茶水煮沸)符合该结构,用不定式“to boil”作宾语补足语。故填to boil。 【39题详解】 考查让步状语从句。句意:虽然最近又重新流行起来,但在炉子上煮茶实际上在中国有着悠久的历史。根据句意可知,后文“围炉煮茶在中国实则有悠久历史”与前文“最近重新流行” 存在转折关系,需用让步连词引导从句。“While/Although/Though”(尽管)均能表达“尽管当下流行,但历史悠久”的逻辑,符合语境。故填While/Although/Though。 40题详解】 考查动词时态和主谓一致。句意:虽然最近又重新流行起来,但在炉子上煮茶实际上在中国有着悠久的历史。分析句子可知,主语“cooking tea on a stove”(围炉煮茶)是动名词短语,视为单数;且“有悠久历史”是客观事实,需用一般现在时。故谓语动词用“has”。故填has。 【41题详解】 考查冠词。句意:围炉煮茶起源于中国西南部云南省的一项非物质文化遗产:火塘烤茶,并由此形成了一种火塘文化。分析句子可知,“intangible cultural heritage”(非物质文化遗产)是可数名词单数,且“intangible”以元音音素开头,需用不定冠词“an”修饰,表泛指“一种非物质文化遗产”。故填an。 分析句子可知,主语“which”指代 “the costume television drama “A Dream of Splendor””(电视剧《梦华录》),与“broadcast”(播放)是被动关系;且“last summer”(去年夏天)表明时态为一般过去时。故用一般过去时的被动语态“was broadcast”。故填was broadcast。 44题详解】 考查介词。句意:因此,围炉煮茶作为一种古今结合的社交方式,吸引了许多既热爱旅游又热爱传统茶文化的年轻人。分析句子可知,此处“serve as”是固定短语,意为“充当、作为”,满足句意要求。故填as。 Good morning, everyone, My name is Li Hua. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for listening. 【答案】Good morning, everyone, My name is Li Hua. When it comes to music, we have our own stories. As for me, music actually offered me enough power to overcome shortcomings. When failing in the middle exam, I felt so upset that I refused to communicate with my friends, even my parents. When I heard some inspiring songs, which gave me confidence, I gradually ignored the failure and spared no efforts to study hard. Finally, I made great progress in the final exam. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: For a month, Lena raced between school, homework, and the camera shop. Every afternoon, Lena worked at the camera shop, helping Mr. Thompson and serving customers. Her hands grew rough from organizing film rolls and polishing lenses, and her feet ached from standing for long hours. Though exhausted, she cherished the hope of seeing her father’s smile again — the way he did in those old photographs. One evening, Mr. Thompson handed her a box. “Your hard work paid off,” he said warmly. Lena’s hands trembled as she cradled the camera. Her eyes glistening with gratitude, she whispered, “Thank you, Mr. Thompson.” On Father’s Day, Lena woke up early to prepare her surprise. She placed the camera on the kitchen table and waited nervously. When her father came in for breakfast, his weary eyes widened at the sight. After a short pause, his hardened fingers traced the camera’s edges gently, as if touching a memory. For a moment, there was silence. Lena broke it with a soft “Happy Father's Day, Dad!” “Thank you! This means more than you know. Let’s take a photo together,” his voice cracked with emotion. Lena finally saw it — the smile from the photographs. The click of shutter dissolved years of quiet tension, connecting them at last. 词汇激活 行为类 ①帮助:help/give sb a hand/assist ②珍视:cherish/treasure/value ③交给:hand/give/offer 情绪类 ①感谢:gratitude/appreciation ②紧张地:nervously/anxiously 【点睛】[高分句型1] Lena’s hands trembled as she cradled the camera.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型2]When her father came in for breakfast, his weary eyes widened at the sight.
